Taylor Swift's Diary Reveals How She Really Felt After the 2009 VMAs


It’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since Kanye West hopped up on stage and interrupted a young Taylor Swift as she was receiving her 2009 MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me.”

The “I’mma let you finish” moment, when West declared that Beyoncé had the best video of the year for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It),” is now one of the most famous moments in recent pop culture history—and it’s had 10 years of ripple effects, including West’s song “Famous” and the ensuing drama with Swift and his wife, Kim Kardashian.

But we’re just now learning new details about what exactly went down that night, thanks to excerpts from Swift’s diary released with the deluxe version of her new album, Lover, as well as an oral history from Billboard published ahead of Monday night’s VMAs.

“If you had told me that one of the biggest stars in music was going to jump up onstage and announce that he thought I shouldn’t have won on live television, I would’ve said, ‘That stuff doesn’t really happen in real life.’ Well… apparently…. It does,” Swift wrote in her diary at the time.

According to Billboard‘s oral history of the incident, MTV producers were just as shocked as we (and the audience at Radio City Music Hall) were to see West jump on on stage during Swift’s acceptance speech. On TV, we all watched Beyoncé mouth, “Oh, Kanye,” but we didn’t see Pink later confront him during a commercial break.

“During the commercial break, he went back down to his seat ,and Pink walked up to him and got in his face,” then-MTV senior correspondent Jesse Montgomery told Billboard. “I wasn’t close enough to hear the conversation, but she was pointing in his face and nodding her head back and forth, and giving him her two cents about how fucked up this was and then stormed off. Then he was sitting there next to Amber Rose with his arm around her, and you could feel everyone in Radio City glaring at his back.”

Ryan Reynolds Reveals the Best Present Blake Lively Has Ever Given Him


Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have kept a relatively low profile since they confirmed in May they’re expecting their third child. But the Pokémon Detective Pikachu actor opened up about their relationship, slightly, on Instagram over the weekend. In a new post, Reynolds revealed the best present Lively has ever given him—and of course it’s incredibly sweet and sentimental.

“This piece of art is the greatest present my wife has ever given me,” Reynolds wrote on IG alongside a photo of himself next to a painting, which depicts a young boy delivering papers in a suburban neighborhood. It turns out the image is semi-biographical. “My first job was delivering newspapers for the Vancouver Sun. The house in the painting is my childhood home. My brothers and I spent years trying to kill each other on that lawn. There are a lot of Easter eggs in the painting, including my idol, John Candy, on the front page of the newspaper. The house no longer stands but it’s a living, breathing thing in my head.”

The painting was done by American artist Danny Galieote, who shared the photo Reynolds posted to his own Instagram with the caption, “I am honored and humbled to announce that I created this painting for the man, Mr. Ryan Reynolds @vancityreynolds. (He posted this last evening and I officially have permission to mention it.) It was really such an honor to make this meaningful, personal piece for him (commissioned by his amazing wife, Blake Lively)…I’m really very VERY proud to have made this painting for them. With much gratitude. Cheers to you, Ryan and Blake.”

“If there’s ever a fire, I’m grabbing this first. I’ll come back for Blake,” Reynolds also joked in his caption.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively confirmed their third pregnancy not by words, but with a red carpet look. Lively attended the New York City premiere of Pokémon Detective Pikachu earlier this summer wearing a yellow dress that showed off her growing baby bump (see above). And just like that a viral moment was born.

Taylor Swift's New Song 'Lover' Reveals A Lot About Her Relationship With Joe Alwyn


Miley Cyrus wasn’t the only pop star to drop a new single this week that seems to be about her current relationship status. Taylor Swift released her fourth single—which also happens to be the title track—from her upcoming album Lover.

In some ways, “Lover” goes back to Swift’s roots. The song is relationship and lyrics-driven, a Swift signature, and there’s a hint of her country background in the sound. As for those lyrics, it seems clear that the “lover” being discussed in the song is her current boyfriend Joe Alwyn. It’s a rare glimpse into their romance, given that Swift has kept her relationship with the British actor incredibly private. (They’re rarely even seen together at public events.) Even so, that didn’t stop fan theories and rumors from swirling earlier this year that the couple’s about to get engaged. That hasn’t happened yet, that we know of, but the lyrics of “Lover” imply Swift is in this relationship for the long run.

The theorizing from fans starts with the first verse, of course.

We could leave the Christmas lights up ’til January /
This is our place, we make the rules /
And there’s a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you dear /
Have I known you 20 seconds or 20 years?

It’s also now clear that the fake Christmas tree Easter egg in the “ME!” video was a reference to this song.

The second verse appears to verify what many have suspected, but the couple has never confirmed publicly: Alwyn and Swift have been together for three years. (They reportedly met at the 2016 Met Gala, but didn’t start dating until the fall of that year.) As for the rest of the verse, we know Swift loves to have her friends over to hang. She also made a similar reference to a boyfriend’s appeal (who many thought to be Alwyn) in her song, “Gorgeous”: “You’re so gorgeous, I can’t say anything to your face.”

Whitney Port Reveals She Had a Miscarriage Two Weeks Ago


We’ve seen so much of Whitney Port‘s life over the years—after all, The Hills and The Hills: New Beginnings star has been on our screens for over 10 years. But Port recently shared her most personal story yet, in which she reveals she had a miscarriage two weeks ago.

Port shared the story during an intimate interview with her husband, Tim Rosenman, on her podcast With Whit, and then posted footage of the exchange on Instagram. In it, she describes how she felt when she found out the news. (She and Rosenman were expecting their second child after giving birth to their son in 2017.)

“This is really hard for me to write. Two weeks ago, I had a miscarriage,” she explains in the Instagram caption. “The amount of various emotions I felt in the past couple weeks have been extreme…from shock to sadness to relief, which then led to guilt for feeling that relief.”

She continues, “My identity has been shaken in regards to who [I am] as a mom and human being. I’m currently in the process of learning to accept that my feelings are valid no matter what they are. Whether or not people feel the same way as me or not. They are my personal emotions that are the result from my own journey.”

This is not the first time Port has opened up about her experiences with motherhood—she previously talked about a tough incident she had in which she felt she was mom-shamed, and she encouraged other women to share their own stories. She’s approaching the story of her miscarriage in a similar way, explaining in her Instagram that she wants to use her platform to open the floor up to other women who have gone through the same thing.

“The video above is a glimpse into the story and coming to terms with how I feel,” she writes. “I welcome anyone to share their stories or feelings. I want my platform to be an open place where we can share difficult conversations.”

Ariana Grande Reveals How Mac Miller's Death Led to Her Thank U, Next Album


Ariana Grande has never been the kind of pop star to shy away from being vulnerable. She shares her highs and her lows with her fans regularly on social media and isn’t afraid to cry on stage if she needs to. And she continues her transparency in a new interview with Vogue magazine, where no topic—from Manchester to Pete Davidson—seemed off-limits.

Some of the most heartbreaking moments in the interview come as she discusses the aftermath of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s death. (He passed away in September 2018 due to an accidental overdose.) At one point the writer, Rob Haskell, asks Grande “whether it is fair to call [her album] Thank U, Next a response to Miller’s death.” She gets teary and replies, “It’s just hard to hear it so plainly put.”

She says that after Miller’s death, her friends in New York City rallied around her and suggested maybe recording some music. “My friends know how much solace music brings me, so I think it was an all-around, let’s-get-her-there type situation,” she said. “But if I’m completely honest, I don’t remember those months of my life because I was (a) so drunk and (b) so sad. I don’t really remember how it started or how it finished, or how all of a sudden there were 10 songs on the board.”

“I think that this is the first album and also the first year of my life where I’m realizing that I can no longer put off spending time with myself, just as me,” she continued. “I’ve been boo’d up my entire adult life. I’ve always had someone to say goodnight to. So Thank U, Next was this moment of self-realization. It was this scary moment of ‘Wow, you have to face all this stuff now. No more distractions. You have to heal all this shit.’ ”

Grande says her Coachella performance was also emotionally-charged because of the memories of Miller that came with it. “I never thought I’d even go to Coachella,” she said. “I was always a person who never went to festivals and never went out and had fun like that. But the first time I went was to see Malcolm perform, and it was such an incredible experience. I went the second year as well, and I associate…heavily…it was just kind of a mindfuck, processing how much has happened in such a brief period.”

Chris Harrison Reveals the Real Reason Why Hannah Is Keeping Luke P. Around on The Bachelorette


When you mention his conservative ways, what does that mean exactly?

Chris: Well, Hannah’s a really religious woman, and I understand Hannah because I’m from the South. I grew up in the Bible Belt, and so I get that. I’m a faith-driven person as well. I understand where she’s coming from. She’s also very conservative, and her faith is very near and dear to her. And she has that connection with Luke P. She’s had it from the start. They talk about religion. They talk about their value. They talk about the Scripture. They talk about their favorite verses, and they connect on that level. She doesn’t really have that with any of the other guys. Ironically, it’s also what will drive her crazy about him because as much as it brings them together, it will also create a divide that they will battle over, and that’s the interesting thing about religion. I think that’s something we’re all going to debate: that religion is something that should bring us together, but at the same time history tells us it creates a lot of wars. And it will maybe create a big war between these two.

Would you like to see religion discussed more on the show?

Chris: It really depends season to season. I like that we’ve taken this dive into this season because it is a central part of it. We will show Luke P. going to church in Scotland and praying and getting some alone time. It’s a huge part of his life, and it really drives him. And it’s about to drive the storyline between him and Hannah. Would I like to see more? Only if it fits and only if it really plays a central figure in the show. I’m glad we’re not shying away from it in this instance because it is a part of it. And whether it’s sex or religion or both of those and how they mix, I’m glad we never shy away from those sometimes taboo social issues that will cause a lot debate around the country.

At the end of last week’s episode, Hannah tells Luke she can’t give him the rose, but as any diehard fan knows, it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of things. So does she really not give him a rose, or could it mean she’s not giving it to him right now but perhaps he could get it at the rose ceremony?

Chris: I can tell you that she does not give him the rose. But I can also tell you if you’ve ever seen an episode of The Bachelor or Bachelorette, there’s also a big “but.” While there is this Luke P. fatigue, all I can tell you is there is this amazing, bizarre, combative bond between these two people, and it’s like they’re magnets. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a relationship on this show quite like this where there’s just something there, but they get on each other’s last nerve. It’s almost like a sibling rivalry—and I hate to say that ’cause it sounds so weird, but the only thing I can even put a finger on is that it’s just such an interesting relationship. I know it might drive people crazy, but I find it fascinating to watch.

In tonight’s preview, we see you giving Hannah a hug. Is this a heart-to-heart or more of an intervention on your part?

Chris: I hate to make myself sound old, but that was more of a dad moment. I wear a lot of hats on this show, and that was a moment with this young woman that I adore that was hitting rock bottom and had just had enough and was so frustrated she couldn’t see straight. That was an ‘I’m there for you’ moment.

How serious did this get for Hannah? Obviously it’s not like Colton jumping the fence and saying he was going to quit the show, but you do ask Hannah if she feels like she can continue.
