Kit Harington Reveals He Messed Up His Proposal to Rose Leslie

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie made all Game of Thrones fans’ dreams come true when they confirmed their engagement last week. Not surprisingly, their announcement, which ran in The Times newspaper, was posh and classic. “The engagement is announced between Kit, younger son of David and Deborah Harington of Worcestershire, and Rose, middle daughter of Sebastian and Candy Leslie of Aberdeenshire,” the spot read. Quite frankly, it doesn’t get any more perfect than this. Two hot British actors taking out space in a newspaper to declare their love for each other? That’s what fairytales are made of.

But the exact proposal apparently wasn’t as perfect. In a new interview with Jonathan Ross, Harington reveals his engagement plans went awry when he asked the golden question a little too early.

“I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff but we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early,” he said, according to The Sun.

Realizing his, erm, peculiar choice of words, he quickly clarified, “I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load…Sorry that’s a really bad expression.” See, guys! Even Jon Snow gets nervous.

The couple is now in full wedding-planning mode; Harington revealed to Ross he told the Game of Thrones producers that the show has to shut down for their wedding so everyone can attend. After all, Harington and Leslie did meet on set.

“I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down.”

I’ll be waiting patiently by the mail for my invite.

Lady Gaga's Netflix Documentary: 8 Reveals That Will Surprise Even the Biggest Little Monsters

Lady Gaga’s new Netflix documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two, drops today, and it’s good. Very good.

The film, which runs a little over an hour and 40 minutes, is an emotional look into the life of the biggest pop star on Earth. Yes, it addresses her professional life—specifically, the creation of her fifth album, Joanne, and her Super Bowl halftime performance—but Five Foot Two is personal more than anything. Gaga talks about some very deep issues in this film: her relationship with Taylor Kinney (and other boyfriends), sketchy music producers, and both her physical and mental health. It’s an explosive watch—even for the biggest Little Monsters.

These eight reveals from the documentary are particularly interesting. Read on, below, and check out Gaga: Five Foot Two on Netflix right now.

She’s over fuckboys. One of the first sentences Gaga says in her documentary is “me and Taylor are fighting.” Yes, she’s referring to Taylor Kinney, the Chicago Fire star whom she was engaged to but broke things off with in July 2016. She doesn’t reveal the exact cause of the split, but she does go on a rather long monologue about how her “threshold” for men’s “bullshit” is pretty low. “I just don’t care,” she said. “I’m 30. I feel better than ever. All my insecurities are gone. I don’t feel insecure about who I am as a woman. I’m not embarrassed or ashamed of what I have. I feel more sexy and sexual—all that shit is better. What happens, is, I don’t know. In relationships, you gotta move together as best as you can.”

Her mental health and physical pain are inexplicably linked. “If I’m depressed, my full body can spasm,” Gaga said in reference to the chronic pain she experiences as a result of her fibromyalgia. Throughout the documentary, she discusses the way her physical pain affects her mental state. It’s clear that the hip injury Gaga suffered from in 2013, which caused her to cancel half her Born This Way Ball Tour, still takes a toll on her psychologically. One of the most poignant moments in the film is when Gaga becomes elated after completing a performance and feels no physical pain for the first time. She speaks emphatically about wanting to perform again and again, like a child playing her favorite sport for the first time.

She’s over the Madonna “feud,” but she does have one bone to pick: “The thing with me and Madonna, for example, is I admired her always—and I still admire her, no matter what she might think of me. I do,” she said. “The only thing that really bothers me about her is [this]: I’m Italian and from New York, so if I’ve got a problem with somebody, I’m ‘gonna fucking tell it to your face. But no matter how much respect I have for her as a performer, I could never wrap my head around the fact that she wouldn’t look me in the eye and tell me I was reductive or whatever. I saw it on fucking TV. Telling me that I’m a piece of shit through the media—it’s like a guy passing me a note through his friend…I want Madonna to push me up against the wall and kiss me and tell me I’m a piece of shit.” Seems like a reasonable request to us. (As a Madonna and Lady Gaga super-fan, may I just add that their entire feud was dumb and cheapened the work of both artists.)

She had a mini-meltdown while shooting a scene in American Horror Story: Roanoke. The exact issue she had is unclear, but things ended with Gaga loudly complaining that she had too many jobs to afford being delayed on the set. “I like to know what I’m doing before,” she said. “I don’t mind changing it on the fly, but something this complicated, when they keep throwing shit at you, it’s like— I just don’t wanna sound German.” From this, it seems like there was conflict with the dialogue or dialect that her character used.

The male music professionals she worked with before Joanne didn’t make her feel the best. “What I was on my own wasn’t good enough,” Gaga said in reference to her previous professional collaborations. “I don’t feel that way working with Mark [Ronson, one of the leads on Joanne]. In a similar light, Gaga revealed she used avant-garde visuals back in the day to protest the music industry’s expectation for her to be sexy. “When they wanted me to be sexy, when they wanted me to be pop, I always put some absurd spin on it to make me feel like I was in control…If I’m gonna be sexy on the VMAs singing about the paparazzi, I’m gonna do it while bleeding to death [and] reminding you of what fame did to Marilyn Monroe.”

Gaga partly wore outrageous outfits back in the day because she wasn’t secure in herself. As a super-fan, this threw me for a loop because Gaga always contended that those opulent visuals were a part of who she is. Here, she says the opposite. “I never felt comfortable enough to sing and just be this way,” Gaga said, referring to her current, stripped-down Joanne era. “To just sing and wear my hair back. I never felt pretty enough or smart enough or a good enough musician.”

There’s a correlation between her professional life exploding—and her personal life imploding. Well, there’s not a scientific correlation, but Gaga feels like some connection exists, and it upsets her. She explained that every major music achievement she’s experienced has come with a breakup. “I sold 10 million [records] and lost Matt. I sold 30 million and lost Luke. I did a movie and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this,” Gaga said. Ironically, Kinney sent Gaga flowers the day of her Super Bowl performance.

She’s still genuinely shocked by her own success. Her mouth literally dropped when someone told her Joanne was number one around the world.

Miley Cyrus Reveals She Has No Plans to Marry Liam Hemsworth in the Immediate Future

PHOTO: Alberto E. Rodriguez/Getty Images

It’s settled (for now, at least): Miley Cyrus has no plans to marry Liam Hemsworth in the immediate future. After fielding so many marriage rumors we can’t keep track of them all, the singer set the record straight by telling The Sun that she doesn’t “envision marriage.” “I’m 24,” she told the publication, according to Page Six. “I hope I get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do.” She’s still wearing the engagement ring he gave her in 2012 though, and we don’t blame her. It’s a gorgeous Neil Lane creation with a cushion-cut diamond and 18K gold band that she appears to be casually sporting in her photoshoot for her single “Malibu.” (Sneaky!)

“Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned,” Cyrus added. “I’m just riding this out. In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more. I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

Cyrus continued that she didn’t know she would get back with Hemsworth in 2016 after breaking it off with him in 2013. “I’m so crazy I have no idea, but I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over,” she said. “We kept a great friendship really private.” In fact, if they hadn’t gone their separate ways, their relationship wouldn’t be as strong today, she said. “It’s good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise, when you’re with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person,” she said. “We got to become individuals. I hope everything stays the same. It feels like nothing changed except we grew up a lot.”

The whole Milliam (Miam? Liley?) saga has kept fans on their toes since the pair announced the rekindling of their engagement last January, with more twists, turns, leaks, and spoilers than your average Game of Thrones season.

In case you’ve forgotten (and we wouldn’t blame you), the last marriage rumor dropped in March, when Cyrus’s father Billy Ray Cyrus posted a pic on Instagram of the singer in a white dress, captioned “I’m so happy … you are happy.” He quickly put that rumor to bed after sending fans in a tizzy, changing the caption to “Don’t jump the gun!” And just two months before that, an unnamed source claimed that Cyrus and Hemsworth had gotten hitched in a super-secret New Year’s Eve wedding, with suspiciously nuptial Instagram pics to fuel the fire. And before that…well, you get the idea. Here’s hoping this latest advancement puts a stop to the false flags once and for all.

Selena Gomez Reveals She Had a Kidney Transplant In Emotional Instagram Post

PHOTO: Selena Gomez/Instagram

Selena Gomez had a busy summer—releasing new music, reportedly moving in with her boyfriend—but her fans may have noticed that the star wasn’t out in the public eye much despite having new songs to promote. This morning, Gomez revealed why: a few months ago, she received a kidney transplant, which she needed due to complications from lupus.

“I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering,” Gomez wrote on Instagram of her extended absence over the last few months. “It was what I needed to do for my overall health.” Gomez has been public about her battle with lupus, a disease that causes the body’s immune system to attack its own organs and tissues, since being diagnosed in 2014 and undergoing chemotherapy to treat it in 2015. An organ transplant is a major surgery, and the gravity wasn’t lost on Gomez, who also wrote: “I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery.”

But the most incredible part of Gomez’s story has to be her donor, longtime friend Francia Raisa (that’s her in the photo, in the hospital with Gomez). “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”

One of the most selfless and brave things a person can do is donate an organ, and it’s amazing to see Gomez publicly acknowledging that (with 2.1 million likes so far on the post, it seems Raisa is getting the recognition she deserves).

Gomez’s fans are already flooding the star with love and get-well-soon wishes, but as she writes herself, the best way to show her support is to get educated about lupus, a still-misunderstood disease.

To learn more, Gomez recommends checking out the Lupus Research Alliance.

Taylor Swift's Music Video Director Reveals the Meaning Behind 'Old Taylor'

PHOTO: Big Machine Records

If you have a pulse, you’ve undoubtedly heard Taylor Swift’s new song “Look What You Made Me Do,” in which she declares the “Old Taylor” is dead. The meaning behind this lyric is still a mystery. Fans originally thought it meant Swift was abandoning her old, smiley personality, but that went out the window when she appeared in an AT&T ad filled with cuddly cats and cookie dough. Perhaps the line is directed at the media: The “Old Taylor” sat back and ignored tabloids, but “New Taylor” is firing back in the form of an album where half her face is filled with newspaper print on the cover. Maybe it means she’s no longer going to wear her hair in loose curls.

Or maybe “Old Taylor” doesn’t mean anything at all—that’s what Joseph Kahn sort of suggests in his new interview with Variety. The director, who helmed the “Look What You Made Me Do” video, says that Swift is “consistent” in who she is—which basically means “Old Taylor” and “New Taylor” are the same.

“Taylor is Taylor,” Kahn said. “She’s so consistent in who she is. Her imaging may be changing depending on what the thematics of the art is that she’s producing, [but] the person remains the same. There’s a core person there that’s really a fantastic human being.”

[embedded content]

In other words, Swift is doing what dozens of pop artists do every few years: She’s reinventing. This doesn’t mean she’s altering herself: She’s just adapting her public image to fit the story she’s telling. Madonna and Rihanna are pros at this—and now so is Swift. Her former self isn’t dead—just her former image.

It’s interesting many people think Swift is literally changing herself with this new music, like she’s “method singing” or something. This is a phenomenon I’ve noticed with female performers: Oftentimes, people can’t separate the work from the artist. Their public personas and real lives are inextricably linked, which is very frustrating. Female artists should be able to express themselves creatively without the world thinking there’s trouble or change in their personal lives. Sometimes, it really isn’t that deep.

50 Rare Photos of Princess Diana That Reveals What Her Life Was Really Like

Princess Diana, born Diana Frances Spencer, was one of the most famous (and photographed) women in the world in the ’80s and ’90s. Her every move was meticulously documented and scrutinized; even her death turned into a paparazzi-fueled media frenzy, which many still cite as evidence of an out-of-control tabloid culture. Despite all this publicity, though, there’s still so much we don’t know about her. Princess Diana is simultaneously ubiquitous and mysterious—but these 50 rare photos offer a little more insight into the real Diana and her tragically short life. Take a look.
