The Bachelor Host Chris Harrison Confronted Kelley Flanagan After She Said Producers Locked Her in a Closet

The country is ostensibly shut down due to a global pandemic, and yet the men and women of The Bachelor continue to make headlines.

Earlier this week, contestant Kelley Flanagan (who has rekindled some sort of relationship with Peter Weber during quarantine) spoke to Bachelor alums Ben Higgins and Ashely Iaconetti on their “Almost Famous” podcast to address some behind-the-scenes actions viewers at home didn’t see. Per Us Weekly, she claimed producers “manipulated” Weber and “locked me up in a closet for three hours” so they couldn’t interact. Wait, what?!

Before you freak out, Chris Harrison spoke with Entertainment Tonight on April 10 to clear up the situation. The show’s longtime host told ET reporter Lauren Zima that he called Flanagan to talk about her recent interview. “I said, ‘What was that? We don’t lock people in closets, so clearly you weren’t locked in a closet for three hours,” he recalled of the conversation. Harrison also said her comments were “taken a little out of context.”

“What she meant by that was she was frustrated. She’s a smart girl who I think is used to getting what she wants, and she didn’t get that time with Peter,” the host said, believing that Flanagan may have been referring to a moment in Cleveland when she was being interviewed by a producer. “You’re not in a closet. It’s in a room, and sometimes it takes hours,” he explained. “It depends on what’s going on at the time… I think Kelley was frustrated at the time, and that’s how she articulated that.”

Harrison went on to tell ET that Flanagan apologized for how her statements were perceived. “She said, ‘That was not what I meant to say.’ She’s like, ‘I’m so sorry that it came out that I was locked in a closet,'” he said. “So everybody, it’s okay. Kelly was not locked in a closet, she’s safe and she’s good, and she apologized and I laughed it off. I was like, ‘I get it, I knew what you were trying to say.'”

That same day, Harrison also told Glamour he was surprised by Flanagan and Weber’s newly rediscovered connection. “That one caught me out of the blue,” he said. He also recognizes how much Bachelor news has been flying around during this period of isolation.

“I think once we all come out of this quarantine, there’s going to be a lot of catching up to do to figure out what’s been going on,” Harrison said. We’re sure he’ll keep us posted.

Mariska Hargitay’s Response to Chris Meloni Bringing Back Elliot Stabler Will Make Your Day

Yesterday news broke that Christopher Meloni is returning to television as Elliot Stabler in a new Law & Order spin-off. And his former costar, Mariska Hargitay, seems as happy about it as the rest of us.

She posted a sweet birthday and congratulations message to her former partner-in-solving-crime to Instagram on April 2. “Happy Birthday @chris_meloni Congratulations and welcome home Elliot Stabler #It’sBeenAWhile #MissedYou #ElliotStabler,” she wrote. And Meloni responded, “Saddle up gurl, we ridin agin. And TY for all the BD wishes.”

Christopher Meloni starred as the tough New York cop Elliot Stabler for 12 seasons before leaving Law & Order: SVU in 2011, while Mariska Hargitay has remained on the show, currently in its 21st season, as Olivia Benson. The show has remained popular in its prime time slot on NBC but can also be found in reruns on basic cable at almost any hour of the day.

While we don’’t have many details on Meloni’s new show yet, it seems from the two stars’ Instagram banter that a Benson-and-Stabler reunion is very possible. The new show sees Stabler heading up New York City’s organized crime unit. Benson, meanwhile, currently runs the special victims unit. Because both characters will now be in New York, it’s not far-fetched to think a crossover moment could happen. Ahhh!

Fans rejoiced about Meloni’s return on social media. “Elliot Stabler is back in the SVU universe. We DESERVE a reunion with Olivia Benson. SVU ship sailing again. You can’t tell me nothing, honey. #BensonandStabler,” one fan tweeted. “I cant believe it’s 2020 the world is ending and Stabler is trending bc he’s coming back to TV and it’s not SVU. Blessed. Grateful,” another wrote.

There’s no word yet on when the show will debut, but we’ll be there. Dun dun.

Kim Kardashian Gets Haircut in a Parking Lot From Chris Appleton — Photo

There is little Kim Kardashian won’t do when it comes to maintaining her aesthetic, and as it turns out, that includes getting a spontaneous haircut in the middle of a parking lot in Hollywood.

The KKW Beauty founder posted a series of Instagram Stories on Wednesday, October 30, in which she showed up to stylist Chris Appleton’s gym for a quick split-end fix. In the first clip, Kardashian says, “Okay, so what do you do when you need a haircut mid-drive? You call Chris at the gym and he borrows scissors from the gym and we’re in a random apartment complex parking lot in Hollywood.” Appleton then chimes in with, “No one would believe it.”

In the following clips, Kardashian explains that she had Appleton cut it shorter earlier this week and jokes that she’s been “putting him through hell” since. Nonetheless, you can see the British hairstylist smiling and laughing along with her as he works his magic. “You gotta get it right,” he says in her Instagram clips. Once Appleton is finished, Kardashian shows off her fresh haircut, which features long, shiny layers and lots of volume.

Naturally, Appleton shared the hilarious hair moment with his fans, too. He posted a video of the scenario to his own Instagram with the cheeky caption, “Hair 911 on Hollywood Blvd with @kimkardashian.” In response, fans praised him with comments like, “Only an icon could make this happen and it look this good?!?! ????” and “Just goes to show, it ain’t the scissors but rather who’s wielding them!”

Leave it to Kardashian to get an impromptu cut in a parking lot and walk away looking like she just left a five-star salon. We can’t say we’re not impressed.

Chris Harrison Says There's 'More to Demi's Story' on Bachelor in Paradise

Night one of Bachelor in Paradise is in the books, and it did not disappoint. But if Kristina’s words—”I am going to make Blake my bitch”—are any indication, this whole season will be a wild ride.

That’s just fine with host Chris Harrison, who thrives on the unexpected, whether it’s on the sandy beaches of Mexico or in the confines of the Bachelor mansion. Case in point: Look how well he navigated all the Bachelorette fans who were freaking out about the supposed Hannah Brown/Tyler Cameron/Gigi Hadid love triangle. (According to him, “People need to pump the breaks.”)

He’s got bigger things to worry about now that Paradise has started, and we’re not just talking about Dean’s ’70s-era mustache. Here, Harrison breaks down what happened on tonight’s premiere, what’s still to come, and when we’ll see the show’s first same-sex relationship.

Hannah Brown made an appearance in the premiere to catch up with Demi. Will we see her more throughout Paradise?

Chris Harrison: No, it’s really a specific moment and a visit when Hannah comes in. She won’t have a major role or be coming in and out throughout the season. It’s like when Becca came in for a specific reason to talk to Colton last season and then left. Hannah doesn’t have a specific role in Paradise.

Speaking of Demi, she revealed her sexuality is fluid and we know she has the first queer relationship on the show. When will that start to develop?

Chris: Yeah, it’s really interesting because obviously we teased it, so we’re talking about it. But I don’t want to spoil it for everybody. It’s also such…we did a great job of allowing Demi to tell this story, to tell her story, and it’s beautiful and amazing. I’m really proud of it. It happens sooner than later, I’ll tell you that. You don’t have to wait a long time. There’s something that happens, and there’s more to Demi’s story than just this that sets everything up. So, patience, we’ll get there. But there’s more to that story than just that relationship.

As much as the Bachelor franchise has evolved over the years, the last few seasons have really tapped into the cultural zeitgeist. What does it mean to you to see the franchise catch up to where the rest of the world is?

Chris: You kind of hit the nail on the head. And that is, this show has always been about…this is why it’s so popular and why it’s so relatable, is that you’re watching what you’re going through. That’s what makes it compelling. The show has evolved phenomenally well. And it’s not just been lately…we’re always a microcosm of what’s happening in the world. I think what’s happening in the world is really evolving quickly…conversations, lifestyle, whatever it is socially, has been mirrored on our show. I don’t think we’re the tail wagging the dog, I think it’s the other way around. I think what happens in the world ends up on our show. I love that. I like that we’re able to evolve.

Absolutely. At the end of tonight’s show, Kristina says she’s going to make Blake her bitch now. Where this is headed?

Chris: Well, clearly things don’t get better for Blake. To put in a Paradise reference, it’s not smooth sailing for him for quite some time. But then again, he created all these waves. Now he’s going to have to deal with it. Things continue to get rough and evolve and things continue to blow up for Blake. You’re going to see other relationships take shape as well rather quickly this season.

Chris Harrison Just Spilled Some Tea on Tyler Cameron's Dates With Hannah Brown and Gigi Hadid

Chris Harrison has some updates for Bachelor Nation about what’s going on between Tyler Cameron, Hannah Brown, and Gigi Hadid.

If you’re unfamiliar with what I’m talking about, let’s back up. Last week, we learned on The Bachelorette season finale that Brown ultimately chose Jed Wyatt over Cameron—but conflicting stories over Wyatt’s previous relationship history caused Brown to end their engagement. So now some fans are hoping she and her first runner-up, Cameron, get together.

It seemed like this was happening last Thursday, August 1, when we learned Cameron had spent the night at Brown’s house. But then we were hit with a curveball: On Sunday, August 4, Cameron and supermodel Gigi Hadid were spotted seemingly on a date in Brooklyn, New York. Fans, as you can imagine, went wild over this news.

So what is the truth? Is Tyler Cameron dating Gigi Hadid? Is he dating Hannah Brown? According to Chris Harrison, it’s neither. “People need to pump the brakes a little bit,” he tells Glamour. “Tyler and Hannah are not in a relationship. I don’t even think Hannah wanted a relationship. She just wanted to see him again, see where it stood. They’re friends. So Tyler’s not cheating on Hannah, Hannah’s not cheating on Tyler. Gigi Hadid is not even in this. There’s not even a love triangle. Everyone can pump their brakes a little bit.”

Hannah Brown echoed this sentiment in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I have feelings, but I’m also single and he’s single and I wanna keep my options open and he can keep his options open,” she told the outlet.

As for why Cameron might’ve gone on that date with Hadid, Harrison says, “I guess Tyler is a young, single guy, and he’s hitting the world as this popular, famous guy from our show. I know they get a lot of attention. I would just say to Tyler, he may want to call Blake, and maybe get a little advice on letting things go to your head.” Harrison is referring to Blake Horstmann, who reportedly dates several women on this season of Bachelor in Paradise and runs into trouble.

Speaking of other shows in this franchise: How will Cameron’s dates with Hadid and Brown affect his chances of becoming the next Bachelor? Harrison says, “This particular situation doesn’t affect it, but once we get to a point where we’re trying to figure out who the Bachelor is, we’re going to do a count, and [consider], ‘Is Tyler out there playing the field? Dating around?’ And that’s fine, but that’s not someone we’re going to want as the Bachelor. We want someone who is sincere, really looking for love, ready to settle down. And if that’s where you are in your life where you’re ready to hit the town and date around, then that’s fine, but that’s maybe not for us.”

Chris Harrison Thinks 'Bachelorette' Hannah Brown Should 'Beware' of Jed

To say Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette has been eventful would be an understatement. Besides the rumors that several of her suitors had girlfriends before joining the show—including current front-runner Jed—Brown’s been slut-shamed not once, but twice by Luke Parker. No one knows what the future holds for Hannah—not even Bachelor maestro Chris Harrison, who tells Glamour magazine, “the rollercoaster ride isn’t over.”

We caught up with the long-running host during the taping of the “Men Tell All” episode, which aired tonight (July 22). Here’s what he had to say about what’s to come.

Glamour: Kaitlyn Bristowe dealt with a lot of shaming on her season, but have we reached new heights on Hannah’s?

Chris Harrison: Look, I don’t think it’s out of control or any different for us than it is for anybody else. It was interesting combining religion, shaming, how everyone is so quick to jump on their soapbox—especially the proverbial soapbox behind your phone or computer, where you’re sitting there on Twitter or Instagram and anonymously just rip someone’s life apart. I’ve always thought that’s chicken shit. It’s cowardly. It’s horrible. If I could give my children a gift in life, it would be to eradicate social media from the face of the earth. I would get rid of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I would get rid of all of it. I think it’s terrible. I think it’s done a lot more harm than it’s done good in this world. I feel bad that my kids have to grow up with that bullshit. But it’s not going to change.

With that said, I’m wise enough to know there are some good things that have come from it, but I don’t think it’s any different [for the show]. I think we’re just a mirror image of what’s happening in the world. I’m sorry Hannah had to go through it, and I’m sorry Luke probably has to go through it. He’s probably being unnecessarily really bashed more than he has to be. Jed’s going through it right now with all the rumors and innuendos. He’s getting crushed right now. It’s just so easy for everybody in the court of public opinion to run to either that victim hill or accusatory hill and point a finger. It’s just so easy in this day and age. It’s so much harder to have a debate, look someone in the eye, and have a gosh-darn debate.

You brought up Jed—rumors of a girlfriend aside, he said earlier in the season that he originally wanted to go on the show to establish a platform for his career. And then of course we saw the hometown date where his family wasn’t so endorsing of him getting engaged. We hear all about Luke P., but should we be a little bit more worried about Jed right now from what we’ve seen this season?

C.H.: There are enough red flags surrounding Jed to have a parade. Yeah, of course [we should be concerned]. There are a million red flags, and he raised 20 of them himself at the beginning of the show, like you said. He’s the one that said, “I came here for some other reason”…country music, whatever. I don’t know if I’ve seen the guy without a guitar in his hand. So buyer beware with that, and the family said as much too. I mean, when the sister literally looks Hannah in the eye and says, “I don’t think this is a good idea”—if that’s not a red flag, I don’t know what is. So, yeah, those are things Hannah better pay heed to.
