Twitter Hilariously Granted Chrissy Teigen's Dream of Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Glory


Although she already has a heap of accomplishments to her name, Chrissy Teigen—Queen of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, Empress of Twitter, Goddess of Kitchens—has conquered yet another goal on that list of hers: She’s become a Victoria’s Secret model. Well, sort of.

First things first: She’s not actually slated to walk in the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which tapes on November 21. Even so, on Saturday, she tweeted, “Crazy nervous to close the Victoria’s Secret fashion show tonight!!! Better get one last gym sesh in LOL!!!!” A little later, she encouraged her fans to check her Instagram story for further proof: “Check my instagram story !!! I am live in shanghai baby WOOOOOOOOOO”

Literally one minute went by, and she was getting impatient: “no one is answering my phone calls or emails but I am here in shanghai and ready for my fitting !!!!!!”

Of course, this is Teigen tweeting, and if there’s something we know about Teigen, it’s that she loves to carry out well-timed, Twitter trolling (and when it comes to actual trolls, she knows how to dish it out at them).

And this is when it all happens: “I wish I knew how to photoshop,” she tweeted a few minutes after her last missive. And then—and THEN: “Can someone photoshop me into this[?]” (“This” being a screenshot of a Victoria’s Secret Instagram featuring an ensemble of the models heading to Shanghai to walk in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.)

And, wow, did the Internet run with it—much to Teigen’s ebullient delight/retweet endorsement:

Kylie Jenner Reportedly Threw a Secret Baby Shower Over the Weekend


By now you’ve probably seen the national news that Kim Kardashian West threw a baby shower over the weekend. Photos of the event flooded feeds yesterday. Kylie Jenner and Khloé Kardashian, who are also reportedly expecting, were there. Kim gave away boxes of her new KKW Beauty perfume, and Chrissy Teigen brought cake (perhaps a loaf of her infamous banana bread?). But you almost certainly missed what happened the next day: Kylie reportedly celebrated her own upcoming arrival with a baby shower at her house, and she barred all attendees from posting any photos from the party online.

A source told People that Kylie hosted the shower at her Hidden Hills home on Sunday, and that the theme was “pajama party” (à la Kim’s own Troop Beverly Hills–themed shower back in 2015, when she was pregnant with son Saint). Another source told the outlet that Kim and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family were all in attendance at Kylie’s party. Kylie had reportedly been planning to host her shower on November 12 for quite some time, per the second source, while Kim threw her own fête together just last week. “[Kim’s] was a last-minute baby shower,” the insider said. “Guests received an invitation earlier this week. It was a low-key celebration with family and close friends.”

Although it’s somewhat shocking that Kylie, who has closely documented the last several years of her life via Snapchat and Instagram, chose to keep a life event as big as her (alleged) baby shower off social media, she probably did so because she still has yet to explicitly confirm her pregnancy. (For the record, Khloé also has yet to confirm her pregnancy, which is said to be a boy.) However, a lack of official confirmation from Kylie herself hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about everything from her due date to the sex of her baby: Some say she’ll welcome a baby boy in January, others predict a baby girl in February.

If Kylie has been able to keep her pregnancy—and baby shower—under wraps for this long, there’s a good chance we won’t know anything for certain about her baby until it has already arrived.

Gina Rodriguez Is Producing a New Show About an Empowering, Secret Women's Social Media Group


Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez is a fierce advocate for women: among other efforts, she’s spoken out against the pay gap and and encouraged women to own their sexuality. And as a dynamic leader in a male-dominated entertainment world, she’s using her power to bring a new female-driven drama to television—and to be honest, it sounds amazing.

The series, potentially titled Femme, “follows four millennial women from different walks of life who become unlikely friends and fierce allies after meeting online in a secret feminist social media group,” according to Variety. “They form a sisterhood army in the real world to support each other through both serious and humorous crises and to help other women in need.”

Sisterhood army? We can get behind that. It’s timely, too, considering women have been using social media more than ever as a platform to speak out about feminist issues, like the fight against sexual harassment and assault.

Rodriguez and her production company will executive-produce the show for the CW as part of Rodriguez’s deal with CBS. To make the news even better, two writers from the smart, hilarious show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, will write and produce the show. (Their other credits include Cougar Town and One Tree Hill, so yeah, this is set up to be SO good.)

Lest we think that’s Rodriguez’s only project, she currently has two other shows in the works with CBS and the CW: She’s producing a drama called Have Mercy, which follows a Latina doctor who immigrates to Miami and can no longer practice, so she opens clinic in her apartment to help the community. The other is a dramedy called Illegal, based on the life of co-executive producer and writer Rafael Agustin. The show is about an American high school student who finds out he is undocumented. And, in April, Rodriguez was also confirmed to be working with Netflix to voice the title character of the 1990s classic reboot of Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?.

It looks like we’re about to see a whole lot coming from Rodriguez as she works to give more opportunities to female writers, producers, and actresses—and we are so here for all of it.

Are Taylor Swift and Harry Styles Performing at the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?


Taylor Swift and Harry Styles infamously dated from December 2012 to January 2013. It was a short relationship, yes, but a memorable one. The photos of Swift and Styles walking together in a New York City park (see above) sent the pop-music world into a tizzy, and their breakup was even more of a big deal. Fans think Swift wrote two songs about Styles—”I Knew You Were Trouble,” from Red, and “Out of the Woods,” from 1989—though neither has been confirmed.

The two haven’t exactly had the most congenial relationship since their split, either. Remember the time they awkwardly passed each other while out with friends in January 2015? Or when Swift maybe dissed Styles at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards? To be fair, Styles did hint he has no hard feelings toward Swift in an interview with Rolling Stone, but the two haven’t exactly been photographed sharing endless appetizers at T.G.I. Fridays.

But that might change pretty soon. There’s a fan theory floating around the Internet right now that both Styles and Swift will perform at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai next month. The evidence? This press release from the Shanghai Culture, Radio, Film and Television Administration Bureau, which states Styles and Swift each were issued administrative licenses to perform four songs in the city on November 20—right around the time the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is happening. November 28 is the exact air date, but the show is always filmed in advance.

If this is true, it’d be Swift’s third time performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She hit the stage both in 2013 and 2014; coincidentally, it was at her first show where she met her now-BFF Karlie Kloss. This would be Styles’ first time performing at the event.

It’s unclear if Swift and Styles would sing together, though that seems unlikely. Swift will be in full Reputation promo mode at that time, so she’d probably take the opportunity to perform new material. But you never know! Either way, we’re on board with this quasi-reunion.

Is This Why Kendall Jenner Hasn't Posted About the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?

Kendall Jenner was notably absent from the string of models walking in and out of the castings for the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last week. And, when most took to their social feeds to announce that they’d be boarding the infamous pink jet to Shanghai, China, where the glittery catwalk will be happening this year, the 21-year-old remained mum. (Though, she continued to post selfies and ad campaigns on her profile.) Now, it’s being reported that there might be a contractual obligation that’s keeping her from returning to the program: According to TMZ (so, let’s wait a beat), Jenner’s contract with rival lingerie brand La Perla bars her from walking what would have been her third Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Apparently, she didn’t even audition, per a source close to the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

As an ambassador for La Perla, Jenner is reportedly obligated to appear in the brand’s runway shows and ad campaigns—something we image she gets hefty compensation for. She began working with the company last fall; she then closed its inaugural New York Fashion Week show back in February and wore a barely-there gown from its ready-to-wear collection to the 2017 Met Gala. With all this in mind, it would make sense for Jenner to skip out on a highly-publicized event for a different lingerie brand, however sparkly and exciting the program may be.

As with most major celeb news in 2017, speculation as to Jenner’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret stemmed out of her recent social media activity. For instance: Her latest Instagram posts are all snippets from La Perla’s Fall 2017 campaign, which, naturally, she fronted. The captions (“write to me ? @laperlalingerie #LaPerla_Ambassador” and “??? @laperlalingerie”) suggest she might not be too salty about missing out on a trip to Shanghai. Though, she’ll be missing out on quite a reunion on the pink catwalk: Both Bella and Gigi Hadid have confirmed their return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, while Karlie Kloss announced that, after a brief hiatus, she’ll be joining the Angels in China once again.

Neither Victoria’s Secret nor Jenner have officially confirmed whether the model will be sitting out the 2017 spectacle. (We’ve reached out to Victoria’s Secret for comment, and will update our story when we hear back.) Though we’re sad to see her leave the wing-clad family after only two shows, there are plenty of models—both fresh-faced and familiar—that have posted about this year’s show to get excited about. Plus, no matter which lingerie brand she’s aligned with, Jenner will always have someone on-call to support her and Kylie’s, um, unique sharing habits.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Finally Cast Its Models! Alanna Arrington, Maria Borges & More


Ah, ’tis the season—and no, we don’t mean “pumpkin spice” just yet. But it’s the time of year where a new class of Victoria’s Secret Angels gets its wings.

We may be a few months away from the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, but preparations are well underway for the most extravagant, glittery catwalk of them all (which, rumor has it, will take place in Shanghai, China). We know this not only because of the influx of street-style photos coming out of a nondescript city block suspiciously close to the lingerie giant’s New York HQ, but also because the models confirmed to walk the show have flooded our Instagram feeds with their big casting news—and the excitement is palpable.

On Instagram, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show veteran went deep about what the experience of going through the preparation and casting has taught her. “It takes a while to understand what a great key failure is,” she wrote. “And once you get that, everything becomes more beautiful in any area of your life. I have a LONG way of learning! But I just wanted this process to be part of who I really am, so I set that goal. I worked not only my body but my mind to live the previous days and the casting day itself with a different perspective. Had up and downs on nerve wrecking (of course), but I allowed myself to feel the real excitement it brings and a lot less insecurities. It wasn’t that easy cause I’m emotional and when you walk in there your whole perfect plan kind of falls apart! I remember my legs shaking while walking in my first VS casting. But I wanted to leave that room knowing that I gave all I could and I would be able to find peace within any answer. And I left it with tears in my eyes but of joy! What a great experience. I wanted this YES, but I worked for it and I am proud of myself, for getting it AND for how I went through it. Why are we so scared to be proud of ourselves? CELEBRATE YOURSELF. Celebrate your progress. All I want to say with this is try to turn your failures around because they’re only teaching us, work on your self love and DO NOT GIVE UP.
