North West Performing at the Yeezy Show in Paris Is the Best Thing You’ll See Today


North West continues to be way chicer and cooler than all the adults on earth combined. Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West’s 6-year-old daughter took the stage at the Yeezy show at Paris Fashion Week on Monday (March 2) and effortlessly rapped as models strutted up and down the runway. Yes, you read that correctly: North West is now officially in the rap game. We’re sure her father, one of the most prolific hip hop artists ever, is so proud.

In fact, I can say with relative certainty that he is. Just look at the smile on his face when he joins North on stage. This is the famous-person equivalent of a parent cheering their kid on at a community soccer game—except instead of Gatorade and apple slices, we have a sea of cream-colored couture.

Fashionista editor in chief Tyler McCall was at the show and posted a video of North to her Twitter:

Where is North’s Grammy? Her American Music Award? Her Pulitzer Prize? The only thing that would’ve made this better is if her siblings (Saint, Chicago, and Psalm) joined her on stage. Oh, well. There’s always the next Yeezy fashion show.

“A house of four is wild,” Kardashian said on The View about her children. “But complete. Very balanced.”

When asked if she’d be having more children, she said, “Absolutely no more.” She added, “When you have to be responsible for every single soul and morning…. I can’t even begin to tell you what getting ready in the morning is like…I do [have help]…and I love everyone who has been so helpful. But my husband is on this no-help kick, so I’m like, ‘Okay, you try the morning.’”

Here’s hoping an album is North West’s future. I’m ready for her to stampede the charts.

Kelly Clarkson Performing ‘A Little Bit Alexis’ With Annie Murphy Is Pure Gold


Somewhere on location in Bosnia, Moira Rose is shaking in her pajama vest.

On January 30, Annie Murphy had the audacité to appear on The Kelly Clarkson Show and perform the Schitt’s Creek classic “A Little Bit Alexis” in front of a live studio audience and the Serious Actors™ of the Oscar-nominated film 1917. You know, the song her character, Alexis Rose, used to audition for her mother’s local production of Cabaret in season five.

For the uninitiated, Schitt’s Creek (created by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy) follows a formerly wealthy family who lose everything and are forced to live in a ramshackle motel in a town they bought as a joke. What sounds like a pretty surface comedy has pierced the hearts of viewers who have watched the Rose family bond and grow through their misfortune.

The one thing that hasn’t changed is Alexis’s lack of self-awareness, and thank God (aka Dan Levy) for that. Doubly, thank Clarkson for reviving the instant classic on her show, with her own Texas spin.

Ariana Grande Explains the Actual Reason She Isn't Performing at the 2019 Grammys


Much to the disappointment of her fans, Ariana Grande is not performing at the 2019 Grammys this weekend despite being on the original lineup. While that’s a bummer—especially because she’s been one of the most prolific artists over the past year—it’s not exactly a bombshell story.

Well, at least, it wasn’t until today, February 7, when Grande took to social media to set the record straight as to why she’s not taking the stage on Sunday. It all started with an interview that Grammys executive producer gave to the Associated Press. “As it turned out when we finally got the point where we thought maybe it would work, she felt it was too late for her to pull something together for sure,” he said. “And it’s too bad. She’s a great artist. And I’d love to get her in the show this year.”

In response to this, Grande tweeted a screenshot of that portion of the story with the caption, “mhmmm here it is ! ‘too late for her to pull something together……'”

She went on to explain her side of how these negotiations went down. “I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me. i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken,” she wrote. “It was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”

“I offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported,” she continued. “It’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me.”

Ironically, Grande says she “passed a Grammy’s bus with my face on it typing those.” Despite the controversy over her performance, she’s “still grateful for the acknowledgement this year.”

Now that she’s set the record straight, we can thankfully all turn our focus to more important Ariana Grande matters—like the release of her new album tomorrow.

The Weeknd Got Emotional at Coachella While Performing His Song About Selena Gomez


For 10 wonderful months, Selena Gomez and The Weeknd gave us couple goals inspiration. From Gomez calling him her “best friend” to the undeniable chemistry in their PDA—and that time they adopted a puppy—the musicians made a really cute pair. And although they broke up six months ago, there’s definitely still some emotion there. Case in point: The Weeknd’s performance Friday during the first day of Coachella.

His song “Call Out My Name” from his new album, “My Dear Melancholy,” is rumored to be about Gomez. The lyrics really go there, too: “We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake.”

By the end of the song, The Weeknd was all choked up. Members of the audience caught it on tape:

He starts to get really emotional around the lyric, “And when times were rough, when times were rough / I made sure I held you close to me.”

Gomez reportedly started hanging out with Justin Beiber soon after she and The Weeknd broke up. As of last month, however, there are reports that the on-again-off-again couple is on a break.

This Is the Frustrating Reason Best Album Nominee Lorde Won't Be Performing at the Grammys


The Grammys are tonight, and both celebrities and us normals watching from our couches are gearing up for the big event. After all, awards shows are way better when your favorite artists are performing. But one artist, nominated for Album of the Year, won’t be heading up on stage to wow us—and the circumstances are pretty surprising.

Lorde is the only female up for Album of the Year (Melodrama) this year, but Variety reported on Saturday that she wasn’t offered a chance to give a solo performance up on stage. Every other nominee—who are, again, all male—was given the opportunity and will be singing on stage, according to the magazine.

According to Variety‘s source (who’s “close to the situation”), the Grammys reached out to Lorde about performing as part of a group—reportedly a tribute to Tom Petty—which she declined. She wasn’t asked to sing solo, and so she’s decided not to perform at all.

It’s not like her voice is gone or anything, as Variety points out: She did two flawless gigs on Wednesday and Friday—so no issues there. But it’s worth noting that, in a year of #MeToos, for an event that has a chronic history of ignoring women’s contributions to music to conspicuously oust her from performing isn’t a good look. Throughout Grammys past, there have been 457 male nominees and winners for Best Album—but only 90 female nominees (and from there, just 21 winners).

Lorde’s mom, Sonya Yelich, was thinking along the same lines: She posted a photo to Twitter on Friday with an excerpt from a New York Times article circled. “This says it all,” she captioned the tweet.

Lorde didn’t sing during her VMAs performance last August, either—but that was for an entirely different reason called the flu. Unfortunately this time, we won’t get treated to any of her slick dance moves either.

Are Taylor Swift and Harry Styles Performing at the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?


Taylor Swift and Harry Styles infamously dated from December 2012 to January 2013. It was a short relationship, yes, but a memorable one. The photos of Swift and Styles walking together in a New York City park (see above) sent the pop-music world into a tizzy, and their breakup was even more of a big deal. Fans think Swift wrote two songs about Styles—”I Knew You Were Trouble,” from Red, and “Out of the Woods,” from 1989—though neither has been confirmed.

The two haven’t exactly had the most congenial relationship since their split, either. Remember the time they awkwardly passed each other while out with friends in January 2015? Or when Swift maybe dissed Styles at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards? To be fair, Styles did hint he has no hard feelings toward Swift in an interview with Rolling Stone, but the two haven’t exactly been photographed sharing endless appetizers at T.G.I. Fridays.

But that might change pretty soon. There’s a fan theory floating around the Internet right now that both Styles and Swift will perform at the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai next month. The evidence? This press release from the Shanghai Culture, Radio, Film and Television Administration Bureau, which states Styles and Swift each were issued administrative licenses to perform four songs in the city on November 20—right around the time the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is happening. November 28 is the exact air date, but the show is always filmed in advance.

If this is true, it’d be Swift’s third time performing at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She hit the stage both in 2013 and 2014; coincidentally, it was at her first show where she met her now-BFF Karlie Kloss. This would be Styles’ first time performing at the event.

It’s unclear if Swift and Styles would sing together, though that seems unlikely. Swift will be in full Reputation promo mode at that time, so she’d probably take the opportunity to perform new material. But you never know! Either way, we’re on board with this quasi-reunion.
