Kate Middleton Hasn't Been Wearing Nail Polish for Months, and Nobody's Noticed

The likely reason is that it’s simply a personal preference. Middleton talks often about how much she values her time outside in the country with her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—and as a busy mom, it’s much easier to rebuff a nail than it is to re-polish. Not that we’d expect her to show up in neon or nail art, but the queen reportedly prefers pale shades to adorn female royals’ nails.

So we turned our question over to royal style expert Myka Meier: Could there be any deeper meaning behind the change? “There is no official royal protocol that says what the royal family must wear or even what products they should use,” she tells Glamour. “Each senior royal is trusted to make their style and grooming choices, including products they wish to use. While we have seen the Duchess of Cambridge wearing light pink colored or even clear polish in the past, one of her favorite new looks in recent years has actually been no polish at all! Instead she has simply opted for a buffed nail with a naturally squared low-maintenance shape, which not only goes with everything she wears but looks clean-cut, natural, and gorgeous.”

Another thought? You can’t be publicly criticized for a shade you’re not wearing. We certainly loved when Meghan Markle wore a dark polish shade for the British Fashion Awards in 2018, but there were many who did not—and used it as yet another reason to show their dislike for the Duchess of Sussex online.

So, are bare nails about to be the big new trend for spring 2020 thanks to a royal nod of approval? We shall see.

Prince Harry Just Low-Key Confirmed That Meghan Markle Hasn't Given Birth Yet

Meghan Markle is thought to be on maternity leave right now, which means the royal baby watch is officially underway. In fact, some people have been speculating that the Duchess of Sussex already gave birth—but Prince Harry seems to have disproved that theory today, April 25, when he stepped out for an event in London alongside his sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

Why would that point to there being no royal baby yet? Because Prince Harry is an actual prince, meaning he likely wouldn’t leave Markle alone if she was in labor or at home with a just-born baby. The fact that there’s no baby yet would explain why he made the appearance at the Anzac Day Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey.

Plus, he looked pretty relaxed in photos—not at all like a new dad who hasn’t been sleeping after welcoming the tiniest addition to the royal family into the world.

According to a source who spoke to People, Prince Harry had logistics in place at the event since the baby could come at any second. The insider said that he was “pleased he can attend today’s service, as planned. With their baby due, his name was not printed in the program in case he was unable to do so.”

Still, fans of the royal family are staying vigilante for baby news, particularly because the couple has indicated that they’re probably not going to partake in all the fanfare and photoshoots that usually come with royal baby announcements. In fact, a rare statement from Buckingham Palace explained that Prince Harry and Markle plan to keep things relatively quiet.

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family,” the statement read.

That means context clues are going to have to guide the baby watch—and Prince Harry being out and about is a pretty good one.

Meghan Markle Is Being Mommy-Shamed and She Hasn't Even Given Birth Yet

Meghan Markle isn’t due until spring 2019, but she’s already catching heat from mommy-shamers. Her latest “offense”? Cradling her baby bump too much in public.

Yes, you read that correctly: People on the Internet can’t seem to deal with the fact Markle has been photographed lately with her hands placed over her stomach. Commenters came out in droves on Monday (December 10) during the Duchess of Sussex’s appearance at the Fashion Awards in London. She wore a stunning one-shoulder black gown and took several photographs with her hands touching the top and bottom of her baby bump.

“If I see one more photo of Meghan Markle cradling that bump I am going to vomit. I swear she and Beyoncé think they are the only women in the world to get pregnant. You are pregnant……WE KNOW,” wrote one person on Twitter. “She should learn from Kate on how to pose regally when pregnant. Both hands discretely under the bump. Not cradling like Demi Moore,” chimed in another. And the hits keep coming. Check out just a few of the unfair criticisms for yourself, below:

The fact thatpeople are policing Markle’s hand placement is ludicrous, to say the least. Plenty of mothers actually make a habit of cradling their baby bumps while pregnant. Some science even posits that this is a good thing for unborn children.

Of course, other people jumped to Markle’s defense and essentially told her critics to back off. “What? Why do people (mostly women) get upset about this? Nearly every pregnant woman does it. It’s not harming anyone. She’s happy to be a mom. Cradle those bumps, mamas,” one user wrote on Twitter.

“So I see Meghan Markle is getting shit for cradling her baby bump, some people saying it’s too possessive….The fuck?!? That’s what all pregnant women do!!! Cradle that bump Meggie, cradle it,” tweeted someone else.

Whether the science behind this cradle-bumping has legs or not, I’m pretty sure Meghan Markle knows what’s best for her body and baby. Let her (and her hands) live.

'Outlander' Still Hasn't Been Renewed for Seasons 5 and 6—but Don't Freak Out Yet

Although we already knew that season four of Outlander was coming in 2018, the new year has finally arrived, and we still don’t an exact date for when we should expect the new episodes. Even worse, we don’t entirely know if this is the end of Jamie and Claire: No official renewals have been announced for the show, leaving us wondering if season four will really be the last we see of them (say it’s not so!). But on Friday, we got some news that’s making us feel a tiny bit better.

At the Television Critics Association Press Tour, the Starz CEO himself, Chris Albrecht, dropped a little hint about the future of the show, and it’s having us feel all sorts of optimistic. (Of course, keep in mind that Starz hasn’t confirmed the future seasons just yet, so nothing’s official until it’s, well, official.)

“I wouldn’t worry too much about that,” he said when asked about why renewals for seasons five and six haven’t been officially announced. “There are 10 books, and we are having very productive conversations about the future of the show.”

Each season so far has loosely lined up with the plot of its matching installment in author Diana Gabaldon’s book series, which means that if we’re on season-four-book-four, and there are 10 books—well, it’s safe to say there could be a lot more of the duo and their adventures ahead.

Albrecht says his main concern is with how much they’re asking of Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan.

“We have joined the legions of fans of Outlander around the world. Our biggest concern is making sure that we don’t kill Caitriona and Sam along the way,” he said, referring to how hard both actors work, not the million brushes with death their characters experience each season. “The two of them are fantastic and deserve every bit of the accolades they have received.” (Like, say, Balfe’s Golden Globe nomination for her work on season 3.)

Those who just cannot wait for the fourth season to start will want to clear their calendars Sunday evening (January 14), when Starz airs an exclusive scene from it at 10 P.M. ET. (So…that’ll hold us over for maybe a week or so?) Until the new season’s actual premiere, we’ll be rereading Outlander recaps and possibly definitely revisiting the best sex scenes from the last three seasons.

Donald Trump Hasn't Apologized for His Treatment of Women, so This Reporter Did It for Him

Since The New York Times first published their investigation into Harvey Weinstein’s alleged pattern of sexual harassment and misconduct, dozens of men in politics, media, and entertainment have been exposed for their countless misdeeds. With each new story comes the standard apology from a man in power—they ask for the public’s forgiveness and express various levels of regret for their reported behavior.

But throughout this entire reckoning, one man has been unflinchingly unapologetic: President Donald Trump.

As it stands now, at least 19 women have come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump. Not only has he made no effort to apologize for these allegations, he, in turn, has branded his accusers as liars. And in an instance when he did express remorse—see: post–Access Hollywood tape and post–”grab them by the pussy”—he then tried to rewrite the narrative among his colleagues and claim that the leaked tape was a fake. It’s maddening under normal circumstances but even more unbelievable when you consider that he’s the President.

To help us assuage all our frustrations, Vox’s Liz Plank took it upon herself to create a can’t-miss mash-up that features Trump doing what women everywhere have hoped he’d do for months: apologizing for his behavior. Trump may never say actually say “sorry,” but this is the next best thing.

Is This Why Kendall Jenner Hasn't Posted About the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show?

PHOTO: Stephane Cardinale – Corbis

Kendall Jenner was notably absent from the string of models walking in and out of the castings for the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last week. And, when most took to their social feeds to announce that they’d be boarding the infamous pink jet to Shanghai, China, where the glittery catwalk will be happening this year, the 21-year-old remained mum. (Though, she continued to post selfies and ad campaigns on her profile.) Now, it’s being reported that there might be a contractual obligation that’s keeping her from returning to the program: According to TMZ (so, let’s wait a beat), Jenner’s contract with rival lingerie brand La Perla bars her from walking what would have been her third Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Apparently, she didn’t even audition, per a source close to the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

As an ambassador for La Perla, Jenner is reportedly obligated to appear in the brand’s runway shows and ad campaigns—something we image she gets hefty compensation for. She began working with the company last fall; she then closed its inaugural New York Fashion Week show back in February and wore a barely-there gown from its ready-to-wear collection to the 2017 Met Gala. With all this in mind, it would make sense for Jenner to skip out on a highly-publicized event for a different lingerie brand, however sparkly and exciting the program may be.

As with most major celeb news in 2017, speculation as to Jenner’s involvement with Victoria’s Secret stemmed out of her recent social media activity. For instance: Her latest Instagram posts are all snippets from La Perla’s Fall 2017 campaign, which, naturally, she fronted. The captions (“write to me ? @laperlalingerie #LaPerla_Ambassador” and “??? @laperlalingerie”) suggest she might not be too salty about missing out on a trip to Shanghai. Though, she’ll be missing out on quite a reunion on the pink catwalk: Both Bella and Gigi Hadid have confirmed their return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, while Karlie Kloss announced that, after a brief hiatus, she’ll be joining the Angels in China once again.

Neither Victoria’s Secret nor Jenner have officially confirmed whether the model will be sitting out the 2017 spectacle. (We’ve reached out to Victoria’s Secret for comment, and will update our story when we hear back.) Though we’re sad to see her leave the wing-clad family after only two shows, there are plenty of models—both fresh-faced and familiar—that have posted about this year’s show to get excited about. Plus, no matter which lingerie brand she’s aligned with, Jenner will always have someone on-call to support her and Kylie’s, um, unique sharing habits.
