Ashley Graham's Unconventional Baby Shower Looked Like So Much Fun

Ashley Graham and her friends certainly know how to throw a baby shower. But this party was no typical pre-baby celebration where guests guess the newborn’s weight and due date or wrap the mom-to-be’s pregnant belly with toilet paper.

No, this shower was totally unconventional, serving up what was surely one of the wildest parties of the year. Fans got a look inside the party thanks to social media posts by some of the supermodel’s friends. Derek Blasberg shared a series of videos showing guests enjoying stations with manicures, piercings, and even tattoos—real ones. And Graham’s friend and doula Latham Thomas posted more details about the night’s activities.

“This shower was so ? @kissthedeejay was on the 1s and 2s, you could get tattoos, ear piercings and decorate baby onesies that are being donated to families in need,” Thomas wrote on Instagram. “I was too chicken to get a tat or another ear piercing ?@Fridamom made a custom labor and delivery kit for Ashley – so adorable!!!!”

There were a few traditional touches, as well, including “It’s a mom!” signs, cupcakes, and candy, according to People.

In another video posted by Thomas, Graham gave a toast saying the party was “bigger than our wedding” and “like Christmas.” “If you haven’t gotten your ears pierced or a tattoo, you have to do that. There’s so much food, there’s a big cake that’s bigger than the one at our wedding,” she added.

Graham appeared to have a great time, posing for pictures with guests, including her baby’s two grandmothers.

And, of course, there was dancing, with Graham showing off that’s she’s definitely still got moves.

“Thank you all so much. We can’t raise this baby boy without all of you, you’re our community,” Graham told guests. And we would like to thank Graham for proving that baby showers need not be boring at all.

Kim Kardashian Threw a CBD-Themed Baby Shower, and It Looks So Chill

On Saturday, April 27, Kim Kardashian threw a CBD-themed baby shower ahead of the birth of her and husband Kanye West’s fourth child (this one’s arriving via surrogate). But rather than host an all-out extravagant bash (as Kardashians are wont to do), she decided to have a chill, stress-free get-together that included meditation, massages, a sound bath, and a variety of CBD-infused treats.

In a video posted to a fan Instagram account, Kardashian can be heard explaining why opted for a low-key party this time around. “So, because I’m freaking out and the baby is coming in, like, two weeks, I thought what better way to celebrate than to have a little CBD,” she told her guests.

“It’ll only be 10 minutes, but I thought it would be, like, cool for us to do… Let’s zen out on a Saturday,” the mom-to-be continued. “I thought it was kind of ridiculous to have a fourth baby shower. But I thought, I’m freaking the f**k out having a fourth kid.”

“So everyone have a puff and put on some oil,” Kardashian added.

Her guest list included her mom Kris Jenner and sister Kourtney Kardashian, as well as famous friends Chrissy Teigen, Larsa Pippen, Paris Hilton, and Jen Atkin. Teigen was one of the many attendees to document the party on her own social media, including one video that sees her sitting cross-legged on her mat as she awaited her sound bath.

The reality star’s 5-year-old daughter, North West, was also there.

As for the party favors, each person in attendance was given their very own navy blue Yeezy slides. The party also featured a name board where Kardashian’s pals could write down what they think she’s going to call her little one. Some guesses included “King West,” “Wolf West,” “High West,” “Knight West,” and “Harut West.”

Guess we’ll have to wait to see what the couple’s final choice is, but it’s safe to say the countdown is on.

The Palace Reportedly Warned Meghan Markle About Throwing a ‘Flashy Baby Shower’

Last month Meghan Markle‘s best friends threw her a gorgeous, intimate baby shower in New York City. The event was a break with royal tradition, as most Kensington Palace moms-to-be don’t have baby showers. According to royals expert Victoria Arbiter, baby showers for royals are actually seen as “highly inappropriate” because the family is “clearly very wealthy.” “There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves,” she told ABC News in 2013.

So why did Markle choose to have her shower anyway? We’re not sure, but according to a new report from Us Weekly. she was at least informed that such an event would raise eyebrows. “Meghan is still struggling with the press in London. She was made aware that Kensington Palace and the royal family, that’s not the way they do it with a big, flashy baby shower like the one she had in NYC,” a source told the magazine.

Don’t take this to mean Markle was reprimanded after her shower, though. In fact, another royals expert, Katie Nicholl, tells Glamour all this talk of Markle breaking “royal protocol” or “royal tradition” is more of a big deal outside the palace than in.

“You read all the time about Meghan breaking protocol by wearing dark nail polish, Meghan breaking protocol by wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, breaking protocol by wearing black. She’s not breaking royal protocol,” Nicholl, author of Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss, and Love, says. “There is no book of royal etiquette. She’s just doing things differently. I don’t think that’s causing huge problems at the palace—if Meghan steps out wearing dark nail polish. I don’t think it’s upsetting anyone. “

For what it’s worth, Markle’s baby shower sounds like it was an absolute blast. “A good time was had by all,” Gayle King, who attended to shower, revealed on CBS This Morning. We’re sure the queen would’ve loved it.

Kate Middleton Is Reportedly Throwing Meghan Markle a Second Baby Shower

Kate Middleton was noticeably absent from Meghan Markle‘s baby shower in New York City, but she had a good reason. According to Us Weekly, the Duchess of Cambridge is actually throwing her sister-in-law a second shower on her side of the pond.

“There is still going to be some sort of private baby-centric event for Meghan’s U.K. people, and Kate will host,” a royal insider tells the magazine. “Her glam people and other relatives will be there. Not sure if it’s a total baby ‘shower,’ but you could probably call it that.”

A more proper word for this get-together would probably be a “celebration.” Royal mothers-to-be historically haven’t had baby showers—Markle, more or less, broke with royal tradition by having one in Manhattan. Victoria Arbiter, a royals expert, told ABC News in 2013 showers are seen as “highly inappropriate” because the royal family is “clearly very wealthy”: “There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves.”

Markle’s baby shower in New York was super secretive, but one of the guests, Gayle King, spilled a little bit of tea on CBS This Morning. “A good time was had by all,” she said. “[Meghan] is a very private person.”I think she should decide what she wants to say about [the shower].”

The only specific detail she gave was guests at Markle’s shower participated in a flower-arranging activity that actually helped a charity. “We all each made an individual base, and then Meghan, at the request, got in touch with an organization I’ve never heard of, Repeat Roses, and all of those [bases] were donated to different charities,” she said. “I thought that was a very sweet thing. It just speaks to who she is: She’s very kind. She’s very generous and a really, really sweet person. I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her.”

If Kate Middleton is throwing Meghan Markle a second shower, hopefully that ends those pesky feud rumors once and for all.

The Sweet Reason Meghan Markle Didn't Open Up Presents at Her Baby Shower

Meghan Markle‘s much-anticipated baby shower happened this past Wednesday, February 20. The star-studded event took place in New York City’s Upper East Side and reportedly featured jazz music, food by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and flower-arranging activities.

One thing that didn’t happen at the shower, though, was present opening. Gayle King, one of the celebrities who attended the baby shower, revealed Friday (February 22) on CBS This Morning that Markle opted not to open up her gifts during the actual celebration. And her reason is very sweet.

“She didn’t open up any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together,” King said. “So I really don’t know what everybody got [her].”

King said a “good time was had by all” at the baby shower, which was also attended by Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, and Markle’s Suits costar Abigail Spencer.

“She’s a very private person,” King also noted. “I think she should decide what she wants to say about [the shower].”

Watch King discuss this for yourself in the videos, below.

The only tidbit King reveals here is about the flower-arranging activity. “We all each made an individual base, and then Meghan, at the request, got in touch with an organization I’ve never heard of, Repeat Roses, and all of those [bases] were donated to different charities. I thought that was a very sweet thing. It just speaks to who she is: She’s very kind. She’s very generous and a really, really sweet person. I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her.”

King says Williams and Markle’s longtime friends, Genevive Hillis and Jessica Mulroney, hosted the shower: “It was a very small, private affair and just a very special time for her.”

Kensington Palace announced in October 2018 that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were expecting their first child. She’s due this spring.

Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower: All the Details

It’s happening, people: Meghan Markle‘s highly-anticipated baby shower is going down in New York City today (February 19). Details about the gathering have slowly been trickling out, but now that it’s fully underway we have even more information.

Before we get into it, though, one interesting thing to note is royal mothers-to-be typically don’t have baby showers. Victoria Arbiter, a royals expert, told ABC News in 2013 such events would be seen as “highly inappropriate” because the royal family is “clearly very wealthy.” “There’s nothing they can’t go out and buy themselves,” she explained.

But Meghan Markle‘s baby shower is different. The gathering is more of a way for Markle to reunite with close friends than to receive actual presents (though we’re sure there will be some of those too).

Here’s everything we know (so far) about the fun celebration:

It’s happening in New York City. Specifically at a swanky uptown hotel, according to Hello. Very fitting for a duchess.

The guest list is stacked. Omid Scobie, an ABC News royals contributor, tells Good Morning America 15 guests are slated to attend. “[Guests] include best pal Jessica Mulroney, actress and close pal Abigail Spencer has flown in, and Priyanka Chopra is supposed to be flying in especially for this from London Fashion Week,” he says, adding, “It’ll be a celebration with her closest friends.”

Why this date. “The trip was planned some months ago and, with [an official trip to] Morroco this weekend, this is the last available time Meghan can travel before the Baby Sussex is born,” Scobie tells Good Morning America. “Over the weekend she has been catching up with some of her closest friends, visiting favorite spots in the city and even shopping for baby clothes.”

A second baby shower is also happening in England. According to this tweet from Scobie:

The décor. Official photos probably won’t come out from this super-private gathering, but paparazzi did catch pink roses being delivered to the reported location before Markle’s arrival. Hello notes the orange, yellow, and pink hues to other flowers could be a nod to Markle’s spring due date. Someone was also spotted carrying in an orange tree, which symbolizes prosperity, happiness, and luck—the perfect message for an expecting mother.

What Markle’s wearing. A casual-chic ensemble: gray coat and skinny jeans, matched with a light beige bag and beige pumps.

The gifts. Again, this information probably won’t officially be released, but paparazzi did snap a Babyletto crib being delivered to the shower’s uptown New York location.
