Julia Roberts Channeled Her Iconic Pretty Woman Character in a Polka Dot Jumpsuit

If you assumed that cutout mini dress and matching blonde wig was Pretty Woman‘s most iconic look, you just made a big mistake. Big. Huge.

Everyone knows that the polka dotted dress Vivian Ward donned for a polo match is the ensemble that has withstood the test of time—so much so, that Pretty Woman star herself, Julia Roberts, recreated the look for a recent outing.

The actress stepped out at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Pacific Palisades, California, on Saturday, channeling her onscreen counterpart in head-to-toe polka dots. Roberts put a modern spin on the entire look, opting for a black-and-white Michael Kors jumpsuit instead of a chocolate brown, sleeveless sundress. Both Roberts’s Ward’s outfits even featured pleats and belts—Roberts used a simple white belt to cinch her jumpsuit.

And while Ward pulled her hair into a messy updo and topped it with a prim sun hat in the iconic 1990 film, Roberts wore her hair down in loose waves. She completed the outfit with brown aviators, a black manicure and white laced-up loafers—better for divot stomping, clearly.

Compare the two looks, worn by Roberts almost 30 (!) years apart, below.

Twitter Seems Pretty Convinced That Ariana Grande's Dating Her 'Boyfriend' Collaborator, Mikey Foster

On Friday (August 2), Ariana Grande dropped her new song, “Boyfriend”, which she collaborated on with the band Social House. Along with it, she dropped a music video that portrays her and one of the group’s members, Mikey Foster, as love interests. It didn’t take long for the video, and the couple’s history of collaborating, to spark dating rumors—and now, people on Twitter are fully convinced the “Thank U, Next” singer has a new boyfriend.

Ahead of its release, Grande explained the concept behind the track on Twitter: “We wanted to make something uplifting that captures that feeling of being afraid to take the leap & trust, being afraid of being hurt or feeling like you won’t be enough for that person…but also how it feels to have a crippling crush on someone.”

“I feel like this song captures a common theme in the lives of so many people i know! People want to feel love but don’t want to define their relationship & have trouble fully committing or trusting or allowing themselves to fully love someone. even tho they want to,” she added in a second tweet.

“Boyfriend” isn’t the first time the two have worked together professionally: They also collaborated on “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next,” with Foster and his bandmate Scootie Anderson producing and co-writing the tracks with Grande.

Despite their professional history—or partly because of it—a lot of fans seem to think “Boyfriend” is actually about her relationship with the singer. The two are currently on the road together too: Social House is touring with Grande at the moment.

Fans were also quick to point out that Foster posted a heartfelt tribute to the pop star on her birthday in June.

21 Pretty Lavender Gray Hair Ideas to Try This Season

If you feel like hair color trend names have jumped the ship, you wouldn’t be wrong. These days you’re more likely come across a color on Instagram or Pinterest that sounds like something more off a drink menu than what you’d ask for at the salon. (mulled wine hair, anyone?) It’s a recipe we’ve seen time and time again. Name a hair color after a dessert or cocktail, and suddenly bronde balayage becomes the much more appealing “blond roast hair.”

Luckily, the newest hair color trend is a little more straightforward. Lavender gray is exactly what it sounds like: a smoky gray base with a lavender tint. The amount of purple can vary from a light tinge or ombré situation into full-on-lavender, but either way it’s a more refined twist on the unicorn colors from season’s past.

While you can always dye your hair silver, there’s something particularly exciting about this trend in the fact that it’s perfect if you’re already going gray. While more women in their twenties and thirties (and beyond) are embracing their natural gray hair, it’s nice to see new color trends are catering to that. In fact, searches for lilac hair are up 1,077 percent on Pinterest this year.

Similar to powdery pastel (another big color trend for spring), the shade is great for anyone with pale highlights or platinum-white hair, says Stephanie Brown, master colorist at IGK Salon Soho in New York City. “Make sure there are no yellow tones in your hair; otherwise, you’ll lose the look of these pastel colors.” She recommends seeing a stylist who is well-versed in gray or platinum hair and using an at-home color shampoo (she likes Bleach London and Overtone) to extend the life of the shade.

Still not convinced? Scroll through for some inspiration that’ll make you want to call the salon (we don’t recommend trying this one at home).

Maisie Williams Has a Pretty Hilarious Theory About Game of Thrones and Sophie Turner

Game of Thrones may be coming to an end this year, but the off-screen friendship of Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams will definitely live on. From having matching moments on the red carpet to talking all night long at sleepovers, the Stark sisters have certainly kept their sibling bond going even when the cameras stopped rolling.

In fact, Maisie has a pretty funny theory that the entire eight-season run of the hit HBO series was just a conspiracy for her and Sophie to become BFFs. “It was like one big elaborate thing to find me a best friend. This whole show!” the actor joked with E! News at the premiere for Game of Thrones’s final season.

She’s totally kidding of course, but her friendship with Sophie is definitely the real deal. “It’s been incredible,” Maisie added, telling E! that it’s been so important to have a friend like Sophie during her Game of Thrones journey.

But it hasn’t always been easy; especially when they had to film more ~serious~ scenes together. “You know like when someone’s got little tears because they’re gonna laugh? That’s kind of how I felt the whole time,” Maisie revealed, adding that she was “corpsing” a lot while sharing the screen with Sophie.

While it will definitely be sad to say goodbye to the Stark sisters when Game of Thrones airs its final episode, we have full confidence that the #Mophie legend will keep going. After all, with matching friendship tattoos, an upcoming wedding, and an arsenal of sweet memories between them, we wouldn’t expect anything less.

Charlotte Tilbury Pretty Youth Glow Filter Gives You the Most Natural Glow

Following Eva Chen on Instagram is a little like enrolling in an adulting college. The only difference between a four-year university and a tap on her account’s “Follow” button is that it’s free. I’ve learned so much from tuning in to her daily diaries, and it’s all applicable to my daily life: how to pose for a mirror selfie, how to actually use a jade roller, how to distinguish a sumo orange from a heap of common citruses. No one can say that about Intro to Basketweaving.

In my favorite glimpses at her life and travels, Chen posts product-by-product makeup and skin care application stories on her account. Last season at fashion week, makeup artist Nikki Makeup joined her for a series of videos where she shared the ins and outs of perfectly-applied blush and highlighter. I foolishly forgot to write down the products they used for Chen’s glowy skin in the video, but I did remember one specific tidbit of wisdom. According to Nikki, the best blushes give you the appearance of having just come inside from a brisk walk. Translation: When applied and blended just so, blushes can give you a light, lit-from-within glow.

My prior experience with blush has come nowhere close to that precisely described look. What I wanted was the delicate flush of a Jane Austen heroine after she’s arrived at a great manor on horseback. What I often got was a garish pink or red that threw my naturally paper-white skin into sharper contrast. Granted, that’s mostly my fault. The bulk of my exposure to blush came from caking on deep pinks and orange-reds for dance performances until my mid-twenties. The look made sense under heavy stadium lighting, but it was startling and unflattering up close. Maybe my expectations were a tad dramatic, but there was nothing natural about the blushes I’d tried to wear before.

After seeing the potential for a rosy, light cheek on Chen’s Instagram, I felt compelled to give blush a second chance. I knew it would be more than re-incorporating the product back into my makeup routine, though. It’d also be a matter of tracking down a pigment that could liven my pale cheeks while avoiding clown territory. I found just that in less time than I expected, at the corner of my favorite lipstick brand, Charlotte Tilbury, and Glamour‘s latest Beauty Awards winners.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Pretty Youth Glow Filter is more low-key than its name suggests. It’s a blush-highlighter duo in two complementary, semi-sheer pink shades. There’s a natural element to the ingredients too. Instead of a powder, it’s a paraben-free cream blend. (This doesn’t mean that much for the average user, other than that it’s extra smooth to the touch and lightweight to wear.)

I followed the award-winning suggestion to try the “Pretty Fresh” shades, described online as a “coral pink” set. “Coral” sounds harsher than the blush appears. The shade looks like more light pink than pink-orange after applying. When I want the lightest of flushes, I’ll dab some of the coral color on a blush brush and swipe along my cheekbones. For days that I’d like a hint more color, I apply the blush on the apples of my cheeks with a finger before blending it with a brush.

On either occasion, my favorite part of the set is the highlighter portion. This isn’t the thousand-watt glitter bomb that you’ll find at a Fenty or an Urban Decay, but that’s why it’s great. Instead, it’s a soft gold that shines brightest under direct light. My cheeks have the slightest sparkle, but it’s not at Twilight-vampire levels.

Chrissy Teigen Got Real About Post-Pregnancy Weight Gain, and It's Pretty Inspiring

Chrissy Teigen continues to be the best at social media—and getting real about her own life. She’ll hilariously take on any troll in her path while also showing off her mad cooking skills and letting us in on little pieces of her private life with husband John Legend and their two children, Luna and Miles.

Heck, she’ll even interview herself, like in a recent Twitter thread in which she opened up about her body and her post-pregnancy weight gain. “How do you eat like this?” Teigen asked herself, likely referencing all of her incredible food posts. (Of course, she’s also the author of two best-selling Cravings cookbooks.)

“Basically I am 20 pounds heavier than I was before miles,” she answered. “He’s 10 months old, I never lost the last bit because I just love food too much. Just coming to terms with my new normal, when I had this certain number for so long!”

Teigen, who has been wonderfully outspoken about the postpartum depression she had after daughter Luna was born, says she’s much happier than when she was thinner—weight loss that she seemed to attribute to the depression. (Which, yep, sounds terrible.) “The thinnest I’ve ever been was right after Luna. Postpartum depression,” she wrote. “I’LL TAKE THESE POUNDS AND THIS FEELING!” Hear, hear.

She first opened up about her depression in an essay for Glamour in 2017. “When I wasn’t in the studio, I never left the house. I mean, never. Not even a tiptoe outside. I’d ask people who came inside why they were wet. Was it raining? How would I know—I had every shade closed,” she said. “Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed. John would sleep on the couch with me, sometimes four nights in a row. I started keeping robes and comfy clothes in the pantry so I wouldn’t have to go upstairs when John went to work. There was a lot of spontaneous crying.”

Social media users offered their thanks for Teigen’s honesty. “You are so brave and transparent, I love you so much! Thank you for being you and a PHENOM role model for girls ?,” one wrote.

“Girl, same. After my second child, I was walking 4 miles a day after a long day, crying over laundry and barely eating,” another tweeted. “Post partum depression is a beast, and while I was the thinnest ever, I was the unhappiest ever. You’re awesome for embracing the healthier you!”

Never change, Chrissy.
