Jennifer Lopez Was Too Busy Looking Iconic at an Oscars After-Party to Worry About Her Snub


I’m sure Lopez had a blast at whatever after-party she chose to hit up. Here’s hoping she had a kiki with the other MVPs of awards season (in my eyes): Laura Dern, Florence Pugh, and Bong Joon-ho. You know they all wanted Lopez to get nominated for Hustlers.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on one of Lopez’s captions from last night: “Dance the night away, live your life and stay young on the floor.” She quoted her own lyrics, people. I truly cannot stress that enough. The power that she has.

Of course, Jennifer Lopez’s snub is not the Oscars’s only notable misstep. The Academy conveniently forgot that female directors are a thing and that the actors in Parasite probably contributed to its raging success. At this point, the Oscars’s only saving grace is all of Bong Joon-ho’s wins, Janelle Monae, and Brad Pitt’s tongue. Otherwise, they were a Jennifer-Lopez-less disappointment.

Here’s hoping next year we see a more diverse batch of nominees and maybe even a retroactive Oscar nom for J.Lo. What? It could happen! I’m putting it in the universe.

The Crown Season 3 Made a Reference to One of Princess Diana's Most Iconic Quotes


Princess Diana, or rather Lady Diana Spencer, won’t be making her debut on The Crown until season four, but the groundwork for her arrival is certainly being laid out in season three. In fact, royal fans probably noticed a reference to one of Diana’s most famous quotes in episode nine, “Imborglio.”

Let’s set the scene, shall we? Over the course of the season—which arrived on Netflix on November 17— viewers have been introduced to a few new characters, including Camilla Shand and Andrew Parker-Bowles. Camilla and Andrew are dating, but then she also becomes involved with Prince Charles and Parker-Bowles with Princess Anne. It’s a complex love quadrangle and the beginning of an even more complicated relationship situation that will have royal ramifications for years to come. Charles is very much in love with Camilla, but his family fears she is not suitable enough for the future King of England.

Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Lord Mountbatten, and the Queen Mother bring Princess Anne in to discuss the matter and Anne says that everything will be fine between Charles and Camilla as long as her brother “is prepared for there to always be three in the marriage,” referring to Charles, Camilla, and Andrew Parker-Bowles. The royal family maneuvered behind the scenes to ensure that Camilla married Parker-Bowles and Charles, of course, went on to marry Diana. But, as we all know, Charles’s relationship with Camilla continued.

Princess Anne’s quote in the episode seemed to be inspired from a bombshell TV interview Diana gave in 1995 in which she openly discussed her husband’s affair. “Do you think Mrs. Parker-Bowles was a factor in the breakdown of your marriage?” journalist Martin Bashir asked. “Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” Diana replied.

Charles and Diana separated in 1992 and officially divorced in 1996 before she tragically died in a car accident in August 1997. Charles and Camilla eventually married in 2005. And in case you weren’t already excited about the upcoming seasons of The Crown, you better be now, because there is still so much drama to come.

Lizzo Had the Most Iconic Response to a Troll Who Tried to Body-Shame Her


One of Jimmy Kimmel’s most iconic segments on his late night talk show involves making celebrities read mean tweets. The responses have always been hysterical, but leave it to Lizzo to take things to the next level: The super candid singer/rapper/flautist appeared on the show this week and delivered a razor-sharp response to a social media user who tried to body-shame her.

The mean tweet read, “Bus passes and Happy Meals. Two things that I imagine #Lizzo has seen a lot of.” Lizzo took the tweet in stride, first laughing at it and then responding with, “Yeah, I’m a big bitch, and I ride a bus. A tour bus, motherfucker. Where’s yours?” A flawless clapback.

Lizzo is pretty much having the best year ever. She has two songs on Billboard‘s Hot 100 (one of which hit the number one spot); her tour is selling like crazy; and she has a devoted legion of fans. No way is she letting a dumb tweet like this bother her.

Earlier this year, the “Truth Hurts” singer talked to Glamour about why calling plus-size women “brave” is actually insulting. “When people look at my body and be like, ‘Oh my God, she’s so brave,’ it’s like, ‘No, I’m not,'” she said. “I’m just fine. I’m just me. I’m just sexy. If you saw Anne Hathaway in a bikini on a billboard, you wouldn’t call her brave. I just think there’s a double standard when it comes to women.”

Lizzo’s tweet read from this video is definitely the most memorable, but the segment also includes Billie Eilish, Green Day, Chance the Rapper, Monsta X, and Cardi B, who gets an honorable mention for her response to a user who said, “I just watched a muted performance of Cardi B, and that bitch just looks loud without any sound on.”

“How do I look loud? How do I look loud? I’m loud? I don’t even think I’m like loud. Suck my ass,” Cardi said in response. Mic drop.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon Just Recreated an Iconic Friends Scene


Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are getting ready for the premiere of their new series The Morning Show, but fans who’ve followed the actors throughout their careers know they first were seen together on Friends. Jennifer Aniston, of course, played Central Perk regular Rachel Green; Reese Witherspoon guest starred as her little sister, Jill Green, for a few episodes. In a recent interview, the pair turned the nostalgia dial up to one hundred by recreating one of their iconic scenes together—and it’s a joy to watch.

When Aniston and Witherspoon sat down with Access Hollywood last week to discuss The Morning Show, the interviewer brought out a photo of Aniston and Witherspoon across from each other on the Central Perk couch. Aniston immediately recognized the snap from a scene Witherspoon loved. “Is this where you say the line that you love so much?” she asks Witherspoon in the video.

The question ends up being an invitation to recreate their scene. “This is, well, we can say the line,” Witherspoon says. “Do you remember your line?”

Aniston doesn’t remember, so Witherspoon whispers it in her ear. (Teamwork: We love to see it.)

“I say, ‘You can’t have Ross,’” Aniston recites. Then Witherspoon swoops in with the punch line: “Can’t have? Can’t have? The only thing I can’t have is dairy.”

Julia Roberts Channeled Her Iconic Pretty Woman Character in a Polka Dot Jumpsuit


If you assumed that cutout mini dress and matching blonde wig was Pretty Woman‘s most iconic look, you just made a big mistake. Big. Huge.

Everyone knows that the polka dotted dress Vivian Ward donned for a polo match is the ensemble that has withstood the test of time—so much so, that Pretty Woman star herself, Julia Roberts, recreated the look for a recent outing.

The actress stepped out at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Pacific Palisades, California, on Saturday, channeling her onscreen counterpart in head-to-toe polka dots. Roberts put a modern spin on the entire look, opting for a black-and-white Michael Kors jumpsuit instead of a chocolate brown, sleeveless sundress. Both Roberts’s Ward’s outfits even featured pleats and belts—Roberts used a simple white belt to cinch her jumpsuit.

And while Ward pulled her hair into a messy updo and topped it with a prim sun hat in the iconic 1990 film, Roberts wore her hair down in loose waves. She completed the outfit with brown aviators, a black manicure and white laced-up loafers—better for divot stomping, clearly.

The Story Behind Hustlers' Most Iconic Looks


“For Ramona, I looked to a lot of the Victoria’s Secret Angels from the time. I was also looking at Rachel Zoe, Victoria Beckham—women who were creating brands and had a visual identity early on in the 2000s. I liked that there’s an financially aspirational quality to Ramona, and I thought she’d be looking at these women who are starting businesses. Kimora Lee Simmons was a major influence for that character as well.”

“Of course, it’s difficult to not look to Jennifer Lopez herself for style inspiration. I mean, she’s doing now what she did then, which is pushing the envelope, inspiring new trends, and wearing really fashion-forward pieces. It’s the way she’s always been. And so when you look at a time that was just 10 years ago, she was dominating the red carpet. She was trendsetting, creating a need for these it bags and changing the shape of denim that women wanted. So it’s impossible to look at the period and not consider the effect she’s had on it. You can’t really say Ramona wouldn’t be looking at Jennifer as an inspiration.”

“For Destiny, I looked to Tila Tequila, Nicole Richie, Brittany Murphy, girls like that.”

“I hope what’s apparent in the film is that as their bank accounts soar, you recognize that their color palettes change slightly and their handbags change with the amount of money they’re carrying inside of them. For Destiny, specifically, it was important that we understand that as we meet her in the beginning she’s trying to find herself a little bit. Her identity isn’t as crystal clear as Ramona. I wanted it to feel like as time goes on she’s able to refine a bit. She’s able to clean up some of her influences, so she’s not as all over the place as she is when we first meet her. She becomes a bit more put together over the course of the film.”

Diamond (Cardi B) had one of Travers’s favorite looks…

“I was quite proud of the look that Cardi comes out in. Not the one that you see with the pasties—that’s, of course, something I love—but I really like the scene where Destiny gives Diamond the lap dance. In my mind, it was sort of a bizarre mid-2000s noir film. You know, we have two of the most globally recognized women in this scene, and I wanted to treat Cardi’s entrance a bit like a film noir where you don’t really get to see her eyes. There’s a sort of wonderful reveal of that character done in the doorway. Of course, the difference is that in movies past you’re using glamorous fedoras; in my movie, we’re using a Von Dutch baby pink trucker cap. But I hope that the point lands.”
