Meghan Markle Might Voice a Disney Character for a Good Cause

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shocked the world this week when they announced their decision to step back from their roles as senior royals. In a statement via Instagram, the couple said they’re working to become financially independent—and now, we might know how they’re taking steps to do that.

According to The Times, the Duchess, who worked as an actor before marrying her husband, reportedly signed a deal with Disney to do some voiceover work.

But here’s the thing: The Sussexes won’t be profiting from this deal. Instead, Disney has agreed to make a donation to Elephants Without Borders, an organization that helps protect the animals from poaching, in exchange for the Duchess’s work.

The report claims she recorded the voiceover prior to hers and Prince Harry’s six-week holiday in Canada.

Neither Disney nor Markle have confirmed such a deal exists and the details about the project have not yet been revealed, but it would mark the return of Markle’s acting career. This alleged collaboration also points to the pair’s desire to use their celebrity status to help their favorite charities and sheds some light on how the royals plan to support themselves—just as their bombshell announcement this week suggested.

This wouldn’t be the first time the pair have partnered with Disney. In July, Markle and Prince Harry attended the premiere of the The Lion King and after the birth of their son Archie, the company presented them with a personalized book featuring Winnie-the-Pooh and cartoon versions of the couple.

Following the pair’s announcement, Markle has returned to Canada to be with baby Archie.

As per their statement, they “plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America” so they can raise their son “with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter.”

Is Disney the next chapter? Perhaps.

I Lived Like a Downton Abbey Character for 3 Days, and Now the Regular World Is Ruined

Somewhere in the English countryside last week, I was wearing a tiara worth an estimated $195,000 and gliding around a palatial manor. I’ve never been one to care about things like jewlery or clothes, but in that moment I remember thinking, “Yup, this feels right. I’m a royal now.” But then I had to take the tiara off and return to my humdrum, boring life. In what world is that fair? Where is the justice? Better yet, where is my crown?

Now that I’ve had a taste for the royal, finer things in life, I never want to go back. My tiara fitting was just one of the many opulent experiences I had while visiting Hampshire and Highclere, England, the historic locations of the Downton Abbey television series and movie, the latter which hits Blu-ray and DVD on December 17. As you know, the Crawleys aren’t royals themselves, but they did host the king and queen of England at Downton in the movie. And Highclere Castle, the setting of Downton Abbey, is itself quite aristocratic, so there really is no better place to first experience living like a lord or lady (except perhaps Buckingham Palace).

“How much does a banana cost, anyway? $10?” — me after putting on this crown.

Jennifer Aniston's Morning Show Character Is Making Me Embrace the Power Coat

Hey, reader! While you’re here to for “power coat” inspo, check out more outerwear we love: In any Glamour story featuring a shopping bag icon, you can instantly shop a selection of related products, curated by us. Check out our picks to your left on desktop and right on mobile. Happy shopping!

Jennifer Aniston gives one of her best performances ever in Apple TV+’s new series The Morning Show. In it she plays Alex Levy, a long-running morning talk show anchor whose world flips upside down when her co-host becomes embroiled in a #MeToo scandal. As Levy, Aniston is nuanced, complex, and captivating. She also wears a red trench coat in the third episode that I can’t get out of my head.

The coat, which you can see in the clip, below, is perfect, and Alex wears it when she’s grilling the male executives who run her network. “I’ve let you bozos handle this long enough,” she says at one point. “We’re doing things my way.”

Here’s the thing: Alex could’ve worn sweatpants during this scene, and I’d still be terrified—but the red coat adds an extra oomph. So much oomph, in fact, that I’ve decided I need to wear a power coat during all my future arguments.

What is a power coat, you ask? Well, it has to have at least one of these three qualities: (1) structure, (2) a bold color, or (3) long length. The ultimate power coat will have all three, like Alex’s.

These celebrities, below, have all embraced the, well, power of the power coat. Take a look for yourself, and shop accordingly.

Julia Roberts Channeled Her Iconic Pretty Woman Character in a Polka Dot Jumpsuit

If you assumed that cutout mini dress and matching blonde wig was Pretty Woman‘s most iconic look, you just made a big mistake. Big. Huge.

Everyone knows that the polka dotted dress Vivian Ward donned for a polo match is the ensemble that has withstood the test of time—so much so, that Pretty Woman star herself, Julia Roberts, recreated the look for a recent outing.

The actress stepped out at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Pacific Palisades, California, on Saturday, channeling her onscreen counterpart in head-to-toe polka dots. Roberts put a modern spin on the entire look, opting for a black-and-white Michael Kors jumpsuit instead of a chocolate brown, sleeveless sundress. Both Roberts’s Ward’s outfits even featured pleats and belts—Roberts used a simple white belt to cinch her jumpsuit.

And while Ward pulled her hair into a messy updo and topped it with a prim sun hat in the iconic 1990 film, Roberts wore her hair down in loose waves. She completed the outfit with brown aviators, a black manicure and white laced-up loafers—better for divot stomping, clearly.

Compare the two looks, worn by Roberts almost 30 (!) years apart, below.

Julia Stiles on Playing the Only “Hustlers” Character Not Stripping or Scamming

Besides, not playing a dancer isn‘t a big loss for Stiles. “I don’t want to say that I’d be too shy [to play a stripper], because I feel like that’s shaming the women that do it,” she says. “But it would’ve taken a lot for me to have the guts to do that—and balance on those stiletto platform heels. It would have taken a lot of training.”

That doesn’t mean she didn‘t prep for the movie, of course. Stiles met with Pressler ahead of filming after reaching out to her on Instagram. Both women were working in New York at the time, but they had young kids and finding childcare was difficult. So, they arranged a play date. “I brought my son over to her apartment, and he proceeded to destroy her living room while we talked about everything that led to this point.” Stiles asked Pressler every question she could think of—how she found out about the story, how she got in touch with the women, the process of turning it all into a film.

“There were so many interesting anecdotes I took away from our meeting,” Stiles says, “but I also really learned that she’s got a lot of compassion for the people she writes about. She showed up at Rosie’s—the woman the Constance Wu character is based on—with a box of cannoli as a sort of peace offering to say, ‘I’m not here to trash you, and I’m not here to take advantage of you. I want to know more about you, the person. I’m on your side.’” Stiles says she’d also text Pressler during filming with questions like, “How much do you use a notepad?”

The goal was to not do an imitation of Pressler but rather learn about her process. “I told her we were going to take liberties,” Stiles says. “We took a lot of them, with my wardrobe in particular. I think Lorene wanted me to wear a Chanel jacket to represent privilege, that Elizabeth is somebody who had a lot more options growing up than probably Ramona or Destiny did.”

Stiles found other ways to channel Pressler. “I thought there was something so great about being the only person that has compassion for these women,” she explains. “The dancers run in a world where they’re constantly being exploited and taken advantage of. My character develops a close relationship to them, and it’s the only person who’s not trying to get something from them. She’s actually looking at them going, ‘Who are you, and what’s your version of the story?’”

This did, of course, mean she wasn’t in the movie’s biggest set pieces. “I wasn’t at the club, which looked like it’s a lot of fun to film,” she says. “My scenes were a lot quieter.” Because of that, Stiles didn’t have a full view of how Scafaria’s vision would come together. “Once I saw the movie, I was happy to be the character in the film that grounds it and brings it back to a bit more of a serious note.”

Here's What Penn Badgley Has to Say to Everyone in Love With His *You* Character

Warning: Minor You spoilers ahead.

One of the most bizarre things to come from Netflix’s hit series You is the amount of people attracted to Penn Badgley’s character, Joe, who, if you’re unfamiliar, is both a stalker and a murderer. The show, which originally aired on Lifetime but has found a new home on Netflix, hinges on Joe’s creepy, obsessive tendencies. He’s a bookstore clerk who develops a Fatal Attraction–level interest in an aspiring writer named Beck (Elizabeth Lail). Joe begins tracking Beck on the Internet to learn more about her, which leads to burglary, manipulation, and ultimately murder. Yup: Joe literally kills the people in Beck’s life who he believes are a threat to their relationship. He’s not a redeemable character by any means, but droves of fans are into him because he’s…hot?

It’s a head-scratching situation that even Badgley chimed in on via Twitter. “Said this already but @PennBadgley is breaking my heart once again as Joe. What is it about him?” one person tweeted, to which the actor responded, “He’s a murderer.” One fan even asked Badgley to “kidnap” them. His response? “No thx.”

Below, check out just a few people who are, for some reason, all aboard the Joe train.

In a new interview with Today, Badgley offers a little more insight into why people are attracted to Joe. On his now-viral tweets responding to people’s thirst, he says, “That was partly disingenuous on my part because the whole point is [Joe’s] meant to garner a conflicted reaction…. I was doing that on Twitter very tongue-in-cheek.”

As for why fans are latching onto Joe, though, Badgley has a more cerebral analysis. “I don’t see him as a portrayal of a real person, I see him as a representation of the part of us that identifies with him,” he says. “The part of us that is a troll; that part of us that is victim blaming; the part of us that is privileged and blind. We’re meant to identify with him.”

Watch his full interview for yourself, below.

For the record: It’s probably not wise to swoon over Dan Humphrey on Gossip Girl or Joe from You. Badgley’s character from John Tucker Must Die, however, is someone I support 100 percent.
