Twitter Seems Pretty Convinced That Ariana Grande's Dating Her 'Boyfriend' Collaborator, Mikey Foster

On Friday (August 2), Ariana Grande dropped her new song, “Boyfriend”, which she collaborated on with the band Social House. Along with it, she dropped a music video that portrays her and one of the group’s members, Mikey Foster, as love interests. It didn’t take long for the video, and the couple’s history of collaborating, to spark dating rumors—and now, people on Twitter are fully convinced the “Thank U, Next” singer has a new boyfriend.

Ahead of its release, Grande explained the concept behind the track on Twitter: “We wanted to make something uplifting that captures that feeling of being afraid to take the leap & trust, being afraid of being hurt or feeling like you won’t be enough for that person…but also how it feels to have a crippling crush on someone.”

“I feel like this song captures a common theme in the lives of so many people i know! People want to feel love but don’t want to define their relationship & have trouble fully committing or trusting or allowing themselves to fully love someone. even tho they want to,” she added in a second tweet.

“Boyfriend” isn’t the first time the two have worked together professionally: They also collaborated on “7 Rings” and “Thank U, Next,” with Foster and his bandmate Scootie Anderson producing and co-writing the tracks with Grande.

Despite their professional history—or partly because of it—a lot of fans seem to think “Boyfriend” is actually about her relationship with the singer. The two are currently on the road together too: Social House is touring with Grande at the moment.

Fans were also quick to point out that Foster posted a heartfelt tribute to the pop star on her birthday in June.

Ariana Grande's Valentine's Day Manicure Is a Total Mood

Fresh off Friday’s release of thank u, next—a standout album featuring 41 minutes of extremely excellent bops that reportedly took just two weeks to produceAriana Grande is also sporting a fresh manicure. Given that Valentine’s Day is just a few days away, it’s only fitting that it’s in line with the romance-themed holiday, as she showed off on Instagram Stories on Friday with some tongue-in-cheek humor. It just might not be in the way you’d totally expect.

Grande’s 2018 was more than a little rough, romantically speaking: a breakup with Mac Miller, followed by a 0-to-100 relationship with SNL comedian Pete Davidson complete with a ring, then Miller’s death—and then a breakup with Davidson. Her time since then has been one of taking a minute for herself, and apparently, the incredible burst of creative productivity that led to her new album. As far as dating, that’s the furthest thing from her mind: As she tweeted on New Year’s in response to a fan asking who she was dating, “spoiler for the rest of this year / probably my life: it’s no one. please refer back to this tweet for future questions. ?”

This spirit runs true in her Valentine’s mani, too—but with Ariana’s dry sense of humor. She posted an Instagram Story on Friday that first showed off her friend Alexa’s neon, heart-shaped, almost French manicure-like tips (we told you they’re coming back). Each one had a little Valentine’s message written on it, like what you usually get on those chalky candy hearts: “Hug me,” “Yum,”—you get it.

“Nice Valentine’s Day nails, Alexa,” Ari says as she pans the camera. “They’re so cute.” Next up is a glimpse of Ariana’s own nails, each of which is a plain baby pink except for her left ring finger, which has a “NAH” painted on it.

Her message is pretty loud and clear (and downright funny): It’s a thank u, next for Valentine’s Day this year.

Ariana Grande's 'Thank U, Next' Album: Everything We Know So Far

We’re not even two weeks into the new year, and Ariana Grande is already breaking the Internet. The pop star did that quite a bit last year, whether it was with her song “Thank U, Next,” her relationship with Pete Davidson, or just, ya know, breathing. And 2019 is shaping up to be just as big. Not only is she headlining Coachella in April—she’ll be the fourth female and youngest person ever to do it—but new music is on the way. First up is the new song “7 Rings,” which Grande dropped on Friday (January 18).

The backstory of the song is interesting: Grande explained on Twitter that she and her six friends Vic, Courtney, Alexa, Tayla, Njomza, and Kaydence were having a “rough day” in New York City when they decided to hit Tiffany & Co. for a pick-me-up. (You know, as all rich people do.) “We had too much champagne. I bought us all rings,” Grande tweeted. “It was very insane and funny. And on the way back to the [studio], Njomza was like, ‘Bitch, this gotta be a song.’ So we wrote it that afternoon.”

As for the actual song, it’s a riff on “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music and celebrates friendship and money. Have a listen, and watch the pink-tastic video, for yourself, below:

Meanwhile, Grande’s Thank U, Next album is still shrouded in secrecy. Here’s everything we know so far:

1. The title. Grande confirmed it on November 3, when she revealed the phrase “Thank U, Next”—which she’d been tweeting a lot at that time—was both a song and album name.

2. The vibe. Billboard described the new sound as “deep, bass-driven bangers with trap beats alternating with airy, sad ballads.”

3. The track list. Three songs have been confirmed thus far: “Thank U, Next,” “7 Rings,” and “Imagine,” which was released as a promotional single.

4. It’s sad. But that doesn’t mean it’s slow. “A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super-sad chapter,” she tells Billboard. “This [album’s] not particularly uplifting.”

5. Champagne helped make the record. Grande says Thank U, Next was the product of a lot of “feminine energy and champagne and music and laughter and crying,” according to Billboard.

6. There are no collaborations on the album. This will be Grande’s first album to feature just her.

7. The album is finished. Though Grande said she keeps “writing things she wants to add.” She teased the release would be at the end of 2018, so fans should definitely expect to hear it this year. Hopefully on the sooner side.

Here's How Miley Cyrus Had Ariana Grande's Back After Her Split With Pete Davidson

Women supporting women is, without overstatement or exaggeration, one of the best things ever—and in the wake of Ariana Grande‘s breakup with Pete Davidson, Miley Cyrus sent Grande a text to make sure she felt a little love.

In an interview with Howard Stern from earlier in December that’s recently surfaced, Cyrus said because she’s an “emoji person,” she sent Grande “a bunch of hearts and the little cat with the heart eyes.”

As for Grande’s response? A single cloud—which, as we all know, is kinda the singer’s thing.

It’s clear that the two pop stars have a close friendship, even if they’re both so busy they don’t have much downtime together. The two performed together at the One Love Manchester concert, a benefit that followed the tragic terrorist attack at Grande’s concert in May 2017.

Cyrus also said in the December interview with Stern that she counts Grande as a “good friend”—even though they haven’t spent a ton of one-on-one time together. “Anything I’ve ever asked her to be involved in … she’s always done it,” Cyrus said. “So I can never say a bad thing about her because she’s always been so great. It’s not about how many hours spent or how many inside jokes you have, but it’s about the real shit.”

Ariana Grande's New Song Is Probably About Mac Miller, and People Are Emotional

Ariana Grande dropped the second song presumably from her upcoming album, Thank U, Next, on Friday (December 14). Titled “Imagine,” the track is an airy R&B slow jam that places Grande’s out-of-this-world vocals front and center. That’s not surprising, though—we know Grande has pipes. What might surprise fans is the inspiration behind the song. Twitter is convinced the song is an ode to Grande’s ex-boyfriend the late Mac Miller, and the evidence holds up.

For one, there’s the title: “Imagine.” Miller actually had an “Imagine” tattoo on his upper arm, so it’s possible Grande derived inspiration from that. There are also some telling details in the lyrics. “Staying up all night, order me pad thai,” Grande sings at one point in the song. Miller mirrors this in his song “Cinderella” when he raps, “And when you hungry, I can chef you up a stir fry.” (Grande confirmed back in May “Cinderella” was written about her.)

A second parallel occurs later in the song when Grande sings, “I never thought that it would be you.” On “Cinderella,” Miller croons, “You used to tell me all the time I ain’t your type.” Finally, Grande sings in a whistle tone at the 2:45 mark on “Imagine.” She uses a similar tone on her song “The Way,” which she recorded with Miller, at the 3:14 mark.

Fans are clearly in their feels about all of this. Below, just a few reactions.

Grande, for her part, hopes the viral feud between Drake and Kanye West on Twitter right now doesn’t deflect from her music or her friend Miley Cyrus’ new song release. “Guys, i know there are grown men arguing online rn but miley and i dropping our beautiful, new songs tonight so if y’all could please jus behave for just like a few hours so the girls can shine that’d be so sick thank u,” she tweeted last night. Amen.

Watch Ariana Grande's Speech at Billboard Women in Music 2018

Can you think of another artist who’s had a year filled with more ups and downs—professionally and personally—than Ariana Grande? Because I certainly can’t. From the record-breaking success of “Thank U, Next” to her whirlwind romance with Pete Davidson, the singer has been through it. But at least she’s closing the year out on a high—with a Woman of the Year award at Billboard’s Women In Music event, which she accepted tonight (December 6).

Grande didn’t hold back her signature candor in her speech, either. After thanking her team, she went on to open up about what this honor means to her. “I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years of my career and the worst of my life,” she said as she took the stage. “I’m not saying that for sympathy. I’m just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now, I guess…an artist that could be at her peak…and think, ‘She’s really got her shit together, you know? She’s really on it. She’s got it all.’ And I do, but as far as my personal life goes, I really have no idea what the fuck I’m doing.”

She continued, “It’s been a very conflicting one, and I just want to say that if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring, you’re not alone in that.”

Grande may not know her next chapter yet, but she’s feeling hopeful about it. “I’m really looking forward to embracing whatever happens and whatever comes my way,” she said. “I’m really grateful for my friends and family, I love you guys so much. I’m really grateful for music.”

And true to the message of “Thank U, Next,” Grande wants to keep putting herself—not the men she dates—first. “I look forward to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I’ve given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself, hopefully, this year,” she said. “I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having, and as of late I’ve discovered that it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest.”
