90 Day Fiancé Will Air a ‘Self-Quarantined’ Limited Series in April

Is 90 Day Fiancé the reality series that’s going to keep us all sane during this pandemic? Probably. I mean, Hannah Brown has left Tyler Cameron’s quarantine crew and some of our favorite shows are on hold. Also, 90 Day Fiancé is literally a franchise about falling in love online (a.k.a our current situation). And get this: a social distancing spinoff is coming soon. Yup.

According to a Variety exclusive from April 2, TLC is whipping up a new limited series called 90 Day Fiancé: Self Quarantined. Yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. The reunion series will bring back your faves for five episodes beginning on April 20. Over 40 cast members have already signed on.

I mean, it’s not like they haven’t got experience with video chats. TLC’s president and general manager, Howard Lee, pointed out that talking over a computer screen is “already in their DNA.”

“Our crew is not near them physically at all,” Lee said. “They will be helping them remotely. And they have no problem with this, the couples. They’re seizing this opportunity. I think that they’re actually really enjoying it, being able to show a part of their lives at home.”

Don’t expect too much from the production side, of course. In keeping with lock-down rules and social distancing requirements, there will be no film crews. “This series will look very hot-off-the-press—it will look like the paint has not dried,” Lee said. “I think our audience is incredibly forgiving right now, and I’m hoping that they accept the way it looks. It will be messy!” Isn’t “messy” kind of the whole point, anyway?

So, who’s in? Darcey, for one. The most recent season’s Emily and Sasha, for another. Then there’s Pedro and Chantel, who have been featured on 90 Day Fiancé, Happily Ever After?, and the eight-episode special, The Family Chantel. There are about 17 pairs and eight singles set to join in via Skype (or Zoom or whatever). “This is just a sampling,” Lee said. “We’re still working with many of them and trying to see who we can get.”

Honestly, we’ll take whatever we can get right now.

Katy Perry Is ‘Blooming,’ According to Orlando Bloom's Latest Tribute to His Pregnant Fiancé

Katy Perry’s fiancé Orlando Bloom showed the pregnant pop star and their baby-to-be some love on Instagram just days after the singer announced the couple is expecting their first child, via her music video for “Never Worn White.”

The Pirates of the Caribbean star shared a gorgeous photo of Perry posing in a colourful dress at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 event in Australia, where she performed on March 7.

His sweet post marks the first time Bloom has spoken publicly since Perry confirmed the big news on March 4 in her new music video, debuting her growing belly in a stunning all-white ensemble.

She later told fans during an Instagram Live that she and the actor are “excited” about the baby, admitting, “It’s probably the longest secret I’ve ever had to keep. I thought I would tell you guys in the best way through a piece of music.”

It was then Bloom’s turn to share his excitement over the news, captioning his sweet tribute, “My babies blooming ❤️.” Bloom also has a 9-year-old son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

We see what he did there and we appreciate it. This isn’t the first time the couple has used Bloom’s last name in a bit of cheeky wordplay. When they announced their engagement in February 2019, Perry captioned her Instagram post “full bloom,” which also referenced her flower-shaped ruby and diamond engagement ring.

Following the pregnancy announcement, the “Fireworks” singer also joked on Twitter that she’s “so glad I don’t have to suck it in anymore… or carry around a big purse” to hid her baby bump before revealing that the baby was planned.

“Well, it wasn’t on accident,” Perry said in a new interview with SiriusXM’s Mikey Piff. “I’m so grateful for everything that I have been able to do and achieve and all the goals that I’ve been kind of able to check off my list and dreams and the life I’ve lived thus far, and I think I’ve just been trying to create this space in my own life where I’m not running myself too ragged and like, you know, creating space for something new to happen like this. And I think we were both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this, so, that’s kind of how it happens, you know?”

Honestly, I’m not seeing any of that friction Perry was talking about between these two.

Katy Perry Says ‘There’s a Lot of Friction' Between Her and Fiancé Orlando Bloom

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have a lot going on these days. The couple just announced they’re expecting their first child, by way of Perry’s latest music video for “Never Worn White.” They’ve also been planning their wedding and juggling two high-profile and extremely busy careers.

Like with any other couple, all that stress can cause tension—but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. “I have consciously or unconsciously picked a partner that makes sure I keep evolving into the best version of myself,” she said during a recent On Air with Ryan Seacrest interview. “There’s a lot of friction between my partner and I, but that friction breeds something beautiful. It can breed a lot of light.”

“It’s just one of those relationships,” she continued. “I don’t know about anyone else that’s listening whatever kind of relationship they’ve had—and I’ve had many—but it’s like we basically, we get down to the mat and come back up every time.”

As long as everyone’s communicating and working through any issues, it sounds like there’s nothing to be worried about with these two lovebirds. Bloom proposed to Perry during a Bachelor-worthy helicopter ride on Valentine’s Day 2019. “It was really sweet,” she said at the time. Bloom even arranged to have their family and friends ready to celebrate as they landed.

Since breaking the news of her pregnancy, Perry stepped out in public for the first on March 7—without having to hide her baby bump with a large purse. She was rehearsing for a performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 Final in Melbourne, Australia.

So, why was the “Never Worn White” video was the right moment to make the big announcement? “Honestly, I was getting way too fat to hide it, so I was like, ‘Well, I think this song would be a great reveal! Let’s start there,” she said on Sirius XM Hits 1, per Billboard. “And that’s how I communicate things—I communicate through music.”

Scarlett Johansson Called Fiancé Colin Jost the 'Love of My Life' During Saturday Night Live

The biggest surprise on last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live wasn’t a special guest or an on-point sketch about the 2020 election. It was a moment that Scarlett Johansson, the evening’s host, shared with her fiancé and “Weekend Update” anchor Colin Jost during her opening monologue.

It was Johansson’s sixth time hosting the show—so she started off her monologue with some quips about her return to the Studio 8H. “If the show’s bad, what are the going to do? Fire my fiancé?” Johansson said. “Oh no! What will we do without his paycheck?”

Then, the monologue turned into a mini-Avengers installment, in which Pete Davidson made members of the cast disappear with “Infinity Stones.” At one point, Jost ran onstage to tell Johansson he’s okay, and she barely reacts. “I thought you’d be more relieved to see me!” Jost says. Johansson replies: “No, yeah. It’s great.”

After retrieving the other SNL cast members and ending Davidson’s reign of terror, Johansson’s monologue took a heartfelt turn. “I just want to say that this place means so much to me,” Johansson said, with Jost at her side. “I have so many friends here and I met the love of my life here.” She then gave Jost a quick kiss to applause from the audience.

You can watch her entire monologue below:

Johansson and Jost were first rumored to be an item when they were spotted engaging in PDA at an SNL wrap party in May 2017. Since then, they’ve only been spotted on a handful of red carpets together, including two Avengers premieres and the 2018 Met Gala. The couple confirmed their engagement to the Associated Press around two years later.

Johansson and Jost aren’t known for opening up about their relationship—hence the surprise at their on-air moment. The few times Johansson has spoken about her soon-to-be husband, though, indicate how happy the two are together. “It was surprising; he’s got a lot behind that news desk he’s hiding,” she said about Jost in an interview with People. “He’s very charming and very thoughtful and romantic.”

Johansson has been married two times previously: first to actor Ryan Reynolds, and then to French journalist Romain Dauriac. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the actor said she’s matured since her first marriage. “I feel like I’m in a place in my life, I feel I’m able to make more active choices,” she said. “I’m more present, I think, than I’ve been before.”

Casey Wilson Wants You to Start Watching 90 Day Fiancé

If you’re not watching 90 Day Fiancé, may I politely ask…why?

Though I don’t consider myself an evangelist for garbage programming, I do seem to watch an awful lot of it. I even co-host a podcast called Bitch Sesh devoted to The Real Housewives—and while those devastatingly wondrous 60-somethings will always have my heart, I still have eyes! I’m not dead!

And someone else has caught my fancy: 90 Day Fiancé. From the moment I saw a lovable wreck named Darcy scream over and over and over at her fiancé, an unlovable piece of driftwood named Jesse, “CUT THE STEAK ON THE BIAS!!!!!!!!” I knew my life would never be the same.

For those who haven’t heard of the show, know that the concept is devastating. It’s a “documentary” on TLC that follows American citizens in relationships with foreigners who have secured K-1 visas and now have 90 days to decide if they should get married. Spoiler Alert: They shouldn’t.

The dynamics tend to be as you would imagine. Often, a smart, sweet, foreign woman—a 10 in her country—settles for an American two. That piece of it is obviously incredibly problematic. But once you see a Texan mama’s boy tuck a clump of his mother’s hair into his shirt pocket so he can “keep her with him” while he flies across the world to bring home his fiancé, well, you give over to it.

And when you see a feisty, rode-hard grandma in her late 60s fly to Nigeria to see if it’s true love between her and a 19-year-old Nigerian, you simply don’t walk away. And when you see that same couple have sex, and she yells, “Ride me Michael!”—you sit your ass down and you show some respect.

The show follows five couples to the alter, per season. A few of the couples really love each other. A few are being cat fished. A few might belong in jail. But unlike most reality shows, this one has actual, real-life high stakes. These people’s entire lives are on the line. It’s not fake or scripted. These housewives are realer than any of the Real Housewives.

Watching these odd couples negotiate the realities of life offline is both hilarious and heartbreaking. We all make tradeoffs. We all try to move above our station. We don’t all promise a sweet girl’s father we would “show her the American Dream” and then end up living in a storage space. But that’s the show. It’s a heightened version of the worst couples ever in the worst situations ever, handling them the worst possible way. I’m ashamed to admit it’s thrilling to deep dive into relationships that have little to no chance of surviving. But much like mice in a trap, they’ll die trying. And it’s goddamn delightful to watch.

To those of you who look askance at this type of low-brow programming, I may not be able to reach across the aisle and convince you. The divide may simply be too great. But let me just say, I believe zoning out to nonsense to be a healing prescription for today’s world. And this is actually incredibly well made nonsense with perfect editing and couples who will make you look at your own troubled relationship and think, “Not. Too. Shabby.”

So if you’re thinking about taking the plunge, but don’t know where to start, I urge you to watch in this confusing order: Start with Season 5. Then jump to the spin-off series 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days (it’s about couples deciding whether or not they should apply for the K-1 visa). After that, jump to the most recent season of 90 Day Fiancé. (Stay with me…) Then head on over to 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?, another spin-off series that follows up with the most controversial or popular couples. Once that’s complete, go back to Season 1 of 90 Day and continue on in the order God intended until Season 5, right back where you started.

Lady Gaga and Her Fiancé Christian Carino Have Split

Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Christian Carino, have split after roughly two years of dating.

A rep for the singer confirmed this news to People on Tuesday, February 19. “It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,”they tell the magazine. “There’s no long dramatic story.”

According to People, speculation about the state of Gaga’s engagement began at the Grammy Awards February 10, when fans noticed she wasn’t wearing her ring and didn’t thank Carino during her acceptance speech for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. (She and Bradley Cooper won the honor for “Shallow” from their movie A Star Is Born .)

Carino has been by Gaga’s side throughout this entire awards season, though, from the Screen Actors Guild Awards to the Golden Globes. However, he was noticeably absent at the Grammys.

People reported Gaga and Carino were an item back in February 2017 after they were spotted getting cozy at a Kings of Leon concert. In October 2018, Gaga confirmed she was engaged to Carino, who’s a talent agent for the Creative Arts Agency (CAA).

More evidence Gaga‘s relationship was over came on Valentine’s Day, when she posted a photo of her new tattoo tributing “La Vien En Rose,” which she sings in *A Star Is Born,” but didn’t say anything about Carino. “Happy Valentine’s Day. A tattoo toast to ‘la vie en rose’ by the beautiful @winterstone my spinal cord is now a rose,” she posted five days ago.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Lady Gaga, who just wrapped the first leg of her Las Vegas residency, Enigma. Her next big milestone is performing “Shallow” at the 2019 Oscars this Sunday, where she’s nominated for Best Original Song as well as Best Actress. Her A Star Is Born, co-star, Bradley Cooper, is expected to join her on stage for the performance.
