Brad Pitt Played Dr. Fauci on Saturday Night Live and People Are Obsessed

When Dr. Anthony Fauci jokingly told reporters he’d like to be played by Brad Pitt on Saturday Night Live, do you think he expected his wish to come true? Well, that’s exactly what happened.

On April 10, CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota asked Fauci if he’d prefer being played by Ben Stiller or Pitt on the now-remote sketch show. “Oh Brad Pitt,” he said at the time. “Of course.”

Well, last night’s SNL at Home kicked off with a cold open starring the Oscar-winning actor portraying Fauci, perhaps the most prominent member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

“First I’d like to thank all the older women in America who have sent me supportive, inspiring, and sometimes graphic emails,” Pitt—donning a suit, grey wig, and wire glasses—began his “address.” The rest of the sketch was dedicated to translating what President Donald Trump really means when he speaks about the coronavirus. For example, when he said “everyone can get a test.”

“What he meant was: almost no one,” Pitt’s Fauci clarified in a very heavy Brooklyn accent, before responding to further incorrect comments by the president. “So yeah, I’m getting fired,” he says later in the sketch. “But until then, I’m gonna be there putting out the facts for whoever’s listening, and when I hear things like the virus can be cured if everyone takes the Tide Pod Challenge, I’ll be there to say, ‘Please don’t.'” Really. Please don’t.

In a very welcome move, Pitt chose to end his skit by removing his costume (just the wig and glasses, relax) and thanking Dr. Fauci and healthcare workers personally. “To the real Dr. Fauci, thank you for your calm and your clarity in this unnerving time,” Pitt said. “And thank you to the medical workers, first responders, and their families for being on the front line. And now, live…kinda…from all across America, it’s Saturday night.”

It would be an understatement to say that the skit was well-received online. “Brad Pitt playing Fauci on #SNL is only going to make him more of a sex symbol,” one user tweeted. “(Fauci, I mean. But it works both ways.)” Remember, Pitt was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive twice.

Here are some more reactions to the sketch:

Honestly, the only thing that could have made the sketch better would have been if Pitt wore a Fauci nametag

Saturday Night Live Is Returning This Saturday—Remotely

Saturday Night Live is coming back this Saturday, April 11…remotely.

Back in March, NBC announced that Saturday Night Live was halting production due to the coronavirus, but now it looks like all those Zoom parties and living room concerts have inspired the powers that be to bring back the sketch comedy program, even if they have to get a little scrappy about it.

On April 9, NBC released a statement that SNL at Home, a social-distancing version of the series during it’s normal 11:30 P.M. ET time slot, is coming—complete with Weekend Update and “original content” from the writers and cast that has been “remotely-produced.” So don’t worry, everyone is still staying home and there will be no live studio audience. Who else has a feeling things are gonna get weird?

But will all this “original content” be pre-taped, taking the “Live” out of Saturday Night Live? That remains to be seen. NBC has also remained mum on any celeb cameos or hosts.

Might we recommend John Krasinski, who has been hosting the Weekend Update-esque series Some Good News on his own YouTube channel? He was even scheduled to host SNL before all this craziness began. Just saying…

Krasinski even has a knack for getting big guest stars for Some Good News. On April 5, he posted the second episode of his broadcast with the entire cast of Hamilton and his wife Emily Blunt joining in to surprise a very excited 9-year-old, Aubrey, for her birthday. Aubrey was supposed to see Hamilton when the Broadway tour came to her hometown this week, but the show was canceled for social distancing reasons. Instead, her mom tweeted, they’d be watching Mary Poppins Returns.

Krasinski and Blunt saw the tweet and invited Aubrey to a Zoom meeting for her to meet Mary Poppins, who is played by Blunt in the film, but they didn’t stop there. After Krasinski offered to fly Aubrey into NYC to see Hamilton on Broadway when this is all over, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the entire original Broadway cast entered the chat to one-up the host and perform a song from the show. You can watch the whole thing below:

I personally would love to see Krasinski and Miranda face off on this weekend’s SNL, wouldn’t you?

Jennifer Aniston Lurked on Her Ex John Mayer's Instagram Live

If you’ve ever creeped on an ex‘s social media, don’t worry: You’re in great company. Jennifer Aniston just did exactly that on April 5, when she surprisingly popped into her ex-boyfriend John Mayer‘s Instagram Live.

Here’s what happened: Mayer was filming his weekly IG Live show Current Mood on April 5, specifically discussing the recent passing of Bill Withers, the iconic singer behind hits like “Lean on Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine.” Mayer was friendly with Withers and joked that 100 percent of the things the icon said were useful while only 4 percent of what he (Mayer) says is useful. That’s when Aniston came in with a comment.

“For as long as I have been a fan of his or knew him personally, I never saw the man compromise on his principles. Ever,” Mayer said on his IG Live. “And that’s just more to take. That’s just more to take. Whether he was speaking to you or speaking to an interviewer 15 years ago, 14, 13 years ago, everything he said is useful. Four percent of the things that I say are useful. One hundred percent of the things he said were useful.”

To that last remark, Aniston replied with four laughing emojis, which, of course, the internet captured for eternity. See it for yourself, below.

Truly, is there anything more relatable than Jennifer Aniston watching John Mayer’s Instagram Live? (The couple dated from 2008 to 2009.) In this era of self-isolation and social distancing because of the coronavirus, people get bored. And what do you do when you’re bored? Insta-stalk your exes, obviously. Aniston really is just like us.

On her relationship with Mayer, Aniston told Vogue in December 2008, “He is a wonderful guy. We care about each other. It’s funny when you hit a place in a relationship and you both realize, We maybe need to do something else, but you still really, really love each other. It’s painful. There was no malicious intent. I deeply, deeply care about him; we talk, we adore one another. And that’s where it is.”

Selena Gomez Revealed She's Bipolar During an Instagram Live With Miley Cyrus

In an Instagram Live chat with Miley Cyrus on Friday, April 3, Selena Gomez revealed that she is bipolar.

Gomez joined Cyrus on the latter’s Bright Minded IG Live series, where they talked about a variety of subjects, including mental health. When Cyrus asked Gomez how she goes about managing her mental health, the Rare singer opened up.

“Recently, I went to one of the best mental hospitals in the world, but definitely in America, McLean’s Hospital. I discussed that, after years of going through a lot of different things, I realized that I was bipolar,” she said. “So when I go to know more information, it actually helps me. It doesn’t scare me once I know it. I think people get scared of that.”

Gomez continued, “I’ve seen it, and I’ve seen some of it in my own family, where I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ I’m from Texas. It’s not known to talk about your mental health. You’ve got to seem cool, and then I see anger built up in teenagers and young adults because they are wanting that so badly. I feel like, when I finally said what I was gonna say, I wanted to know everything about it and it took the fear away.”

See Gomez discuss this in the video, below:

This is the first time Selena Gomez has talked about her bipolar diagnosis, but she’s been incredibly open in the past about her general mental health. In 2016, she took some time off to seek treatment for anxiety and depression. “Everything I cared about, I stopped caring about. I came out, and it felt like, ‘OK, I can only go forward,'” she told InStyle a year later about the treatment. “And there are still days. I go to therapy. I believe in that and talking about where you are. But I’m in a really, really healthy place.”

In January 2020, Gomez talked about how finding the “right medication” was instrumental in her mental health journey. “I found out I do suffer from mental health issues,” she told WSJ magazine. “And honestly, that was such a relief,” she continued. “I realized that there was a way to get help and to find people that you trust. I got on the right medication, and my life has been completely changed.”

Demi Lovato Accidentally Popped Up on Her Rumored New Boyfriend Max Ehrich's Instagram Live

Just last week, reports emerged that Demi Lovato had a new man in her life: The Young and the Restless star Max Ehrich. Now, the pop star may have confirmed the news by accidentally appearing in his Instagram Live stream.

While fans have recently picked up on Lovato and Ehrich posting flirty comments on each other’s Instagram posts—not to mention his Instagramposts with her pets—neither has commented publicly on the relationship. Of course, they could just be two friends social distancing together during a global pandemic… In fact, at the beginning of March, Lovato claimed to be single on The Ellen Degeneres Show.

“I was on dating apps for a while but as I’ve spent some time with myself over the past couple months, I realized that I am the type of person that will find any way to regulate when I’m sad or lonely or whatever,” she said. “I have to fight those battles on my own and I can’t let somebody come in and fix those issues for me. So right now, I’m single and spending my Saturday nights by myself.”

However, on March 25, a source with Us Weekly said otherwise, asserting that the relationship “is off to a strong start,” while a second source told the publication that the pair “met a few weeks ago.” So, the timeline appears to track.

Just a few days ago, Ehrich shared a video on Instagram, singing “Yellow” by Coldplay. “4D?<3,” he captioned the post. One could reasonably assume that translates to “for Demi,” right? Fans sure thought so.

Then, just yesterday on March 28, Lovato made an accidental appearance in Ehrich’s Instagram Live. He was performing on the piano when Lovato walked into the frame. Ehrich seemed to mouth “I’m live” multiple times before she realized, covering her face with a blanket, making a surprised sound, and popping right back out of the shot—it was all pretty adorable if you ask me.

Now seems like a good time to start planning their official ship name as we wait for confirmation…Demix? Dax? I’ll keep thinking.

Peter Weber Was ‘Visibly Shaken’ After the ‘Bachelor’ Live Finale

“The hits start coming and they don’t stop coming.” —Smash Mouth and Bachelor Peter Weber, probably.

Let me explain: Tuesday, March 10, marked the emotional finale for the latest season of The Bachelor, and it was brutal for Weber, who proposed to a girl he was clearly not in love with just to dump her and end up with someone else whom he knows his entire family hates. To say he was put through the wringer on this live finale would be an understatement.

First, his ex-fiancée, Hannah Ann Sluss, took him to task. Then his own mother, Barb, who seriously said his relationship with Madison Prewett would fail.

“Chris, [Peter is] going to have to fail to succeed. That’s it,” Barb said to host Chris Harrison on the live finale. “All his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work.” If I were Weber, I would be mortified—and according to Chris Harrison, he absolutely was.

“He was backstage standing next to Madison, visibly upset, venting to producers, just shaken,” Harrison told Us Weekly on Wednesday, March 11. “His world got kind of shaken on live TV. That’s something I don’t wish on anybody. It was uncomfortable, and he was probably embarrassed—probably angry, and rightfully so.”

John Fleenor/ABC

Harrison also spoke at length to Glamour’s West Coast editor Jessica Radloff about the incident, which he somewhat blames himself for. “I was sad and a little depressed afterward,” he said. “For that to happen on my watch, I felt a little guilty. I felt a little responsible, and I tried to fix it. I felt bad, like I had a hand in this, and that sucks.”

In the very candid interview, Harrison confirmed Barb and Peter Weber’s relationship has been “damaged” and questioned whether Peter’s mother could have backed off her son and his girlfriend a little bit. “Barb and Peter Sr. flew across the world, but maybe Barb needs to consider who this is about. Maybe it’s not about her. Maybe this is about her son and not about her Instagram followers or her DMs. I think that may have gotten lost a little bit,” he said.

Make sure to read the full postmortem interview here.
