Liam Hemsworth Is Reportedly 'Open to Meeting People' After Miley Cyrus Split

In the two months since Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced they were splitting up after less than a year of marriage—but a decade together—there have been countless stories about who Cyrus is dating. First, there was the Kaitlynn Carter relationship, and now she’s calling Cody Simpson her “boyfriend”.

Of course, there’s not a single thing wrong with Cyrus living her best romantic life, but on the flip side Hemsworth has stayed relatively quiet in the press and on social media. In the days following the announcement, he posted a simple statement to Instagram. “Hi all. Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he wrote. “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”

Now, Us Weekly is reporting that Hemsworth is ready to get back into the dating game. “He hasn’t been dating anyone,” their source said. “But he’s open to meeting people.” (He officially filed for divorce on August 21.)

The Australian actor appears to be dipping his toe back into the world of social media, too. Earlier this week he posted his first Instagram since August 28—and it was more in line with the lighthearted, playful feel of his feed. “Start ya day out with a couple of these. They’re super easy ?,” he captioned a photo of himself hanging off the side of a dumpster.

Liam Hemsworth is also back to work, where he was spotted on the set of Dodge and Miles (an upcoming streaming series) in Hamilton, Ontario Canada in makeup that looks like he just finished filming an intense fight scene.

I Asked My Boyfriend to Split the Cost of Egg Freezing

“We both want kids someday,” I said. “The only difference is, if I don’t freeze my eggs now, I might never be able to have them. But the option for you to have kids is always on the table, no matter how much money you do or don’t have in the bank. With that in mind, what do you think about us splitting the cost of egg freezing?”

It took every ounce of willpower in me to ask my boyfriend of almost two years if he would be open to splitting the cost of harvesting and freezing my eggs. Not so much because I was afraid of his reaction—though asking the man you are not legally bound to in any way to invest in your hypothetical future children is scary—but because I felt a deep sense of shame that I couldn’t pay for it myself.

The fact that egg freezing has me facing bankruptcy is, frankly, ridiculous. I’m a 32-year-old writer and small business owner who has worked very hard to be debt-free. I’ve saved a modest sum of money over the past decade and placed it into a savings account, which I’ve now labeled “Nest Egg vs. Egg Freezing.” The balance is a few thousand dollars less than the cost of the recommended rounds of egg harvesting, freezing, and storage for women over 27. In America, the average cost for this is $26,000—not including the cost of IVF when you’re actually ready to use your frozen eggs.

If I use my savings to harvest and freeze my eggs, I could lose everything I’ve spent a decade building: my financial freedom, my credit, my ability to afford my current modest lifestyle. But if I don’t spend my life savings on freezing my eggs, there’s a very real chance that I’ll never get to realize my dream of becoming a mom. My own mom was diagnosed with endometriosis in her 20s, and conceiving me, her only child, was extremely difficult. While I haven’t officially been diagnosed with the same condition, I did inherit many of the same symptoms and have been warned by doctors that pregnancy may be more difficult for me than for most.

My clock, in other words, is never far from my mind. But the simple truth is, I’m not ready to have kids yet. There are circumstances in my life that are too unstable and uncertain for me to be comfortable bringing a child into the equation. Deciding when to start a family is an incredibly personal decision. For me, trying to get pregnant right now feels selfish and irresponsible. Hence my desire to freeze my eggs to ensure a greater chance at a healthy pregnancy later, when I am ready.

It took some soul-searching to figure out why asking for financial help from my boyfriend made me feel such a sense of shame. After all, married women split the cost of egg freezing with their partners, right? We’re used to having conversations with our partners about preventing pregnancy, so why was it so hard for me to talk about planning for one?

The Big Question

Preparing for this conversation, I talked to my female friends about the dilemma facing so many of us as we enter our 30s; we’re not ready to have kids, but we can’t afford to freeze our eggs by ourselves. But when I broached the subject of the costs of fertility planning with my unmarried male friends, none of them had a clue what I was talking about. If anything (and I mean anything), they spoke about saving up to provide for a family down the road. But having a conversation with their current partners about those costs wasn’t even on their radar.

Liam Hemsworth Was Reportedly ‘Blindsided’ by Miley Cyrus’s First Statement About Their Split

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth‘s breakup was one of the most talked-about celebrity news stories of the summer. The couple, who dated for a decade and tied the knot last December, announced their split via a statement from Cyrus’s rep: “Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” it read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

So many people were surprised to read this—including, according to Page Six, Hemsworth, who was reportedly “blindsided” by the statement. Per the publication, the actor wasn’t given a heads-up about the statement going public. He just saw it on his social media feed—like the rest of us.

Take this information with a grain of salt, obviously. It’s possible Hemsworth knew about the actual statement but not the roll-out plan. And it’s also possible this isn’t true at all. That being said, a second source tells Page Six that, before this breakup announcement, Hemsworth was trying to work on the marriage and didn’t want to go public with any information. Other sources say the same thing about Cyrus: that she “fought” to make the relationship work. As always, though, we won’t know anything for sure until Miley Cyrus or Liam Hemsworth makes a comment.

Which might not happen any time soon. Please see: Hemsworth’s only comment about the split, which he posted to Instagram on August 12. “Hi, all. Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he wrote. “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets.”

Miley Cyrus Just Performed for the First Time Since the Liam Hemsworth Split at the 2019 MTV VMAs

Miley Cyrus has had an eventful few weeks. to say the least. It was just a little over two weeks ago that the singer and her husband, Liam Hemsworth, announced they were splitting up. Soon after, photos of her kissing Kaitlynn Carter (Brody Jenner’s ex and one of the stars of The Hills: New Beginnings) while the two were on vacation in Italy.

Oh, and on top of all of this she released a new single— called “Slide Away”—and prepped the performance we just saw on tonight’s MTV VMAs.

It feels like not that long ago at the VMAs, we saw Cyrus twerking all over the stage; for this performance, however, she kept things super pared down. The performance included a set of string musicians who lined the stage as she sang using a single microphone. Cyrus wore a simple black minidress, and the performance aired in black and white for viewers at home. This setting allowed the focus to be on her incredible vocals and the emotional lyrics.

As soon as the song was released last week, people started to surmise that it might be about the breakup with Hemsworth thanks to lines like, “Once upon a time, it was paradise. / Once upon a time, I was paralyzed. / Think I’m gonna miss these harbor lights, / But it’s time to let it go. / Once upon a time, it was made for us. / Woke up one day, it had turned to dust. / Baby, we were found, but now we’re lost, / So it’s time to let it go.” Or when she sings, “So won’t you slide away / Back to the ocean, I’ll go back to the city lights.”

Fans online loved the VMAs performance. “I literally have chills all over. Miley’s voice is something else,” one person tweeted. “God damn that song was absolutely gorgeous and her voice is legitimately one of a kind,” another wrote.

“I appreciate liam hemsworth for all the bops he has inspired for miley. Their relationship makes some great music lol,” one Twitter user wrote. See more, below.

Read Liam Hemsworth's Latest Statement on His Split From Miley Cyrus

Liam Hemsworth is reportedly in Australia with his older brother, Chris, riding out the frenzy surrounding news that he and Miley Cyrus are splitting after less than a year of marriage. (The couple first started dating nearly 10 years ago.)

While Cyrus has been actively posting on Instagram, Hemsworth has remained offline. Until now. Yesterday there were reports that he had spoken briefly to a Daily Mail reporter, saying, “You don’t understand what it’s like. I don’t want to talk about it, mate.” But in his latest Instagram post, the actor says he has not talked to any journalists and isn’t planning to any time soon.

“Hi all, Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he wrote, alongside a beautiful photo of a sunset. “This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.”

Hemsworth’s latest statement comes amid reports in People that Cyrus “really fought to make” their relationship work. A source also tells the magazine, “She wanted to go to therapy. She just wants to be in a healthy and focused place.”

The couple married last December not long after their Malibu home was destroyed by wildfires. “Miley took [the fire] a lot harder than Liam did, and he is the one who helped her get through it and realize everything would be OK,” a source told People. “She even said it all the time herself, that he was her ‘survival partner.’ She took their commitment to marriage seriously and was so excited about being married once she realized it’s what she wanted.”

We’ll keep you posted with any more updates as they come in.

Here's What Liam Hemsworth Has to Say About His Split From Miley Cyrus

Many were shocked over the weekend when Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced they are separating less than a year after they tied the knot at a private ceremony in their Nashville home.

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” Cyrus’s representative told People on Saturday, August 10. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Since the announcement, photos emerged of Cyrus kissing Brody Jenner’s ex, Kaitlynn Carter, in Italy and she has still been active on Instagram. But Hemsworth has remained silent, until now.

Cyrus, meanwhile, is spending time with her sister, Brandi, and Carter in Italy. “Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win. Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable,” she wrote on Instagram. “The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. My dad always told me ‘Nature never hurries but it is always on time”…. it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own …. ?”

She also posted two more images recently, writing, “New day. New adventure. ?” and “Life’s a climb… but the view is great.”
