The *A Star Is Born* Soundtrack Is Finally Here, and Twitter Is Off the Deep End

Fans knew from Lady Gaga’s incredible vocal runs on “Shallow” that the full soundtrack for A Star Is Born would be incredible. Well, it dropped at midnight on Friday (October 5) to coincide with the movie’s nationwide premiere, and, yes, the rumors are true: It’s an Oscar-contending work of art, and Twitter will never be the same.

Actually, the hype began in the wee hours leading up to the album drop. Little Monsters swarmed Twitter, declaring the A Sound Is Born soundtrack the greatest album of the past three years before it even came out. But fans’ pre-release excitement had nothing on their reactions to the album itself. If tweets are to be believed, literally everyone has been streaming this soundtrack on repeat since midnight. How fans are listening to the soundtrack varies, though: A few have only been listening to “I’ll Never Love Again,” while one user said they’ve listened to everything but “I’ll Never Love Again,” so that they can experience it for the first time in theaters.

That’s not the only song that has fans absolutely losing it. It looks like the intentionally over-manufactured pop tune “Hair Body Face” is a surprise hit, which only proves that Lady Gaga achieves perfection even when she’s trying to do the exact opposite.

If you haven’t heard it yet (which begs the question, um, why the hell not?), it’s available on all major streaming services. You can also experience it the way it’s intended to be, in theaters everywhere.

Peep the reactions, below:

Twitter Is Really Praising Meghan Markle For Shutting Her Own Car Door

Meghan Markle is receiving so much love on the Internet right now for closing her own car door. No, I’m not kidding.

On Tuesday (September 25), the Duchess of Sussex attended her first-ever solo outing for the opening of the Oceania exhibit at the Royal Academy of Art in London and was captured on camera closing her own car door. This, it turns out, is apparently a really big deal. Upon arriving at the event, she exited her car, shook hands with one of the hosts, then turned around and, well, shut the door.

As with any time Markle does something “normal” (like straighten her hair), Twitter used the occasion to praise the newest member of the royal family for being just like the rest of commoners. “A princess who still takes the time to shut her car door. Well done Meghan!” wrote The Sun‘s royal correspondent Emily Andrews, along with a video of the occurrence. “First time I’ve seen an on-duty princess shut her own car door…” tweeted another user. Others took the opportunity to laud the duchess for how “humble” and “down to earth” she is, despite her new role in Kensington Palace.

To be clear, this isn’t even the first time Markle has shut her own car door since becoming a royal (not counting the approximate 200,000 times she likely also shut her own car door in her pre-duchess days). People notes that she also did the honors last week upon arriving at the launch of her Together: Our Community Cookbook.

Kylie Jenner Put Milk in Her Cereal for the First Time Ever and Immediately Got Roasted on Twitter

In her 21 years on this earth, Kylie Jenner has starred on a reality TV show, started a nearly billion-dollar company, and welcomed a daughter. Until this week, however, one major thing she hadn’t done was put milk in a bowl of cereal. If you’re shocked, flabbergasted, and/or appalled, you’re not alone: Twitter users shared all those reactions and more after Jenner announced on Tuesday (September 18) evening that she’d tried the iconic duo for the first time ever the previous night.

The saga began with a simple tweet. “Last night i had cereal with milk for the first time. life changing,” she wrote, then explained in a quick follow-up, “i always liked cereal dry i never bothered to put milk.” The Twitterverse was instantly stunned but, of course, quickly gathered its thoughts and began bombarding Jenner with questions. Type of cereal? “Cinnamon Toast Crunch. amazing,” she replied. Type of milk? “Regular,” Jenner answered. Order in which she poured the ingredients in her bowl? “Cereal first.” All correct answers; Jenner may be new to the wild world of milky cereal, but at least she got it absolutely perfect the first time around.

In the end, while Jenner revealed that she hasn’t given up on her beloved bone-dry cereal, she did admit “milk was cool.” And there you have it.

Besides all those probing questions, Twitter users also sent Jenner suggestions for the next basic food combos she should try, with Seth Rogen even jumping in to recommend a PB&J. Groundbreaking! Others pointed out that although Jenner previously pronounced 2016 the “year of, like, realizing stuff,” she seems to have upheld that old New Year’s resolution for three years running. Others were so baffled by Jenner’s admission that they searched for something, anything, to make sense of it, with a few landing on a complex conspiracy theory that connects older sister Kim Kardashian West‘s recent discovery of hit 2014 podcast Serial with Jenner’s recent breakfast discovery. Spooky stuff.

Sandra Oh Brought Her Parents to the Emmy Awards, and Twitter Is Obsessed

Sandra Oh made Emmy history this year as the first Asian woman nominated as outstanding lead actor in a drama series, thanks to her role in BBC America’s Killing Eve. But it was her parents who stole the show at the ceremony on Monday night (September 17) when they accompanied their daughter on the red carpet.

PHOTO: Joe Scarnici

Joon-soo and Young-nam Oh even joined the actress and Grey’s Anatomy alum in front of the cameras—most notably, to gush about Sandra during an interview with Variety. “I’m so proud of her,” Young-nam said before planting a kiss on her daughter’s cheek.

“Oh my God, that happened on film!” Sandra said in response.

Watch the sweet moment, below:

People also noted that Mrs. Oh wore a hanbok, a Korean dress often worn at formal celebrations and ceremonies, to the Emmys. (Sandra actually wore a modern take on a hanbok to the SAG awards in 2008.) For many, Mrs. Oh’s dress was a proud moment of representation. Mr. Oh, meanwhile, looked dashing in his tux.

“Sandra Oh’s mother is wearing a hanbok and has done more for East Asian representation on television than all the broadcasts networks combined,” one Twitter user wrote. Writer and Sleepy Hollow showrunner Albert Kim tweeted, “Sandra Oh’s mom wore a hanbok to the Emmys! There is a hanbok at the Emmys! Forget K-pop, THIS is the sign that Koreans have arrived.” See more Twitter reactions to the Oh family, below:

Throughout the night, the camera panned to Sandra’s parents sitting next to her, and they excitedly cheered her on as her category was announced. Sandra has received five Emmy nominations for her work on Grey’s Anatomy but never won, and many hoped this year would be her big moment. However, The Crown‘s Claire Foy ended up receiving the award. Still, we hope this means Sandra will continue getting recognized for her work—and bringing her parents to award shows, obviously.

Twitter Is Divided About Netflix's *Insatiable* Getting Renewed for a Second Season

The show is really living up to its name, isn’t it? Netflix has renewed its divisive comedy series Insatiable for a second season, according to a press release.

The series, which stars former Disney Channel star Debby Ryan in the leading role, follows a plus-size, unpopular high schooler nicknamed “Fatty Patty” who loses a significant amount of weight over a summer (from having her jaw wired shut), and when she returns for the new school year, seeks revenge on everyone who’s ever been mean to her. Upon its release, Insatiable generated a significant amount of controversy, with many viewers accusing it of fat-shaming. The use of a fatsuit in flashback scenes was also widely contested.

Despite the backlash the show received, Ryan believed the show succeeded in what it set out to do, and that the fatsuit was an integral part of developing Patty’s identity. “There was a point where [the showrunner] and I are like, ‘If at any point this is funny, if at any point people laugh, we’re not doing it.’ We’re not doing the show that we’re trying to do. We’re just trying to portray an origin story. We’re trying to showcase that,” Ryan old Teen Vogue last month. “We knew that this conversation needed to be had. We knew that this societal brokenness needed to be addressed, but we didn’t know how badly it needed to be addressed. My friend, a few days before the trailer hit, in reference to something else, said, ‘The size of the reaction is the size of the wound,’ and it stayed with me.”

Unsurprisingly, the social media reaction has been just as divisive for the show’s renewal. Below, see the split reactions.

The new season is set to debut in 2019.

Lady Gaga's 'A Star Is Born' Is Sending Twitter Into a Hype Frenzy—for Good Reason

A Star Is Born, the much-discussed film starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, debuted at Venice Film Festival on Friday and promptly received an eight-minute ovation (due, in part, to persevering through some lightning-induced technical issues, but an eight-minute ovation nonetheless).

Eight. Minutes. As if that didn’t point to the film being worth your hard-earned money for a ticket, early reviews have also been incredibly promising, with Oscar whispers of “Lady Gaga” and “Best Actress” already circulating. In fact, they’re close to nothing but glowing—and Twitter is psyched for the movie’s debut.

The heaps of praise being piled on the film, if you only read the most basic of information on it, are—to be very honest—a little surprising: This is Cooper’s directorial debut, making the film something critics are more wont to pick apart than not. It’s also a remake: The original version came out in 1937 and has been reimagined several times, which inevitably prompts many comparisons against past iterations. And, it features a crossover star: Though she’s appeared on American Horror Story (and won a Golden Globe for it), Lady Gaga is, after all, first a vocalist, second an actress (at least so far). Her first movie-star role, you’d imagine, might invite extra scrutiny in terms of her ability to command a film.

But critics are in love. Over at the Guardian, Peter Bradshaw called Gaga “sensationally good” and gave the film five stars: “[Gaga’s] songs are gorgeous and the ingenuous openness of her scenes with Jackson are wonderfully sympathetic. Meanwhile Cooper, whose screen persona can so often be bland and unchallenging, makes precisely this conservative tendency work for him in the role.” Variety called it “transcendent,” with Gaga’s performance a “fetching and accomplished movie-star debut”; IndieWire called the pop icon “resplendent.” Some go so far as to say that she’s the best part of a very good film.

Needless to say, Twitter is hyped for the film to hit theaters on Oct. 8, with users f-r-e-a-k-i-n-g out over the chance to see a movie with Gaga, Cooper, a lot of romance, and some really, really good tunes (Cooper even wrote some himself).

So yeah, you could say we have the release date on our iCal (with five alerts, a special notification tone, and reminders to pre-book tickets). This is going to be incredible.
