Lady Gaga's 10 Best (and Worst) Songs of All Time

“Do What U Want” is a complete misfire. The song’s creepy lyrical content, mixed with who’s featured on it, just makes it un-listenable. So much so that Gaga removed it from streaming platforms in January 2019 in light of the sexual misconduct allegations against R.Kelly and went on to say she regrets releasing the song.

4. “Highway Unicorn (Road to Love)”

Another filler track off Born This Way, “Highway Unicorn” sounds like six different songs rolled into one. The elements separated are actually quite good—the thumping bass-line at the beginning is magnetic—but together it’s a bit of a cluster.

3. “Jewels N’ Drugs” (feat. · T.I., Too $hort, and Twista)

The same critique goes to “Jewels N’ Drugs,” Gaga’s bizarre foray into hip-hop that fans would rather forget.

2. “Hey Girl” (feat. Florence Welch)

“Hey Girl” isn’t a terrible song; it’s just a disappointing one. For two powerhouses like Gaga and Florence Welch to come together and release a track that sounds like a tense phone call is just, I don’t know, a bummer? Here’s hoping they have a follow-up duet somewhere in their arsenals.

1. “Christmas Tree”

“Christmas Tree” is arguably the only truly horrific song Gaga has ever released. With clanging techno beats and lyrics that turn holiday decorations into sexual puns, feel free to leave this off your Christmas playlist (and all your other playlists, too).

Haus Laboratories Review: What To Buy From Lady Gaga's Makeup Line

While you might expect the line to be over the top, it’s surprisingly minimal and comprises only four products: Glam Attack Liquid Shimmer Powders, RIP Lip Liners, Le Riot Glosses, and Eye-lie-ner Liquid Eyeliner. The products were mostly inspired by what Gaga and Tanno found to be lacking in the market, as well as some of Gaga’s necessities. And, of course, they were all “Gaga tested” on the star and her dancers during her Enigma shows. If they’re strong enough to withstand that, they should work for us.

We had Glamour editors ranging from casual listeners to super fans put the products to the test to see what’s worth your money. Read on for our honest reviews.

Courtesy of brand

Gaga and Tanno couldn’t find a glitter that stayed put for an entire show yet came off with a single wipe, so they created one. These multi-use pigments can be used all over your face (Gaga likes to use the shade Rose B*tch on her eyes, lips, and cheeks) and don’t budge once set. Tanno likes a brush to apply it, but you can also use your fingers, as long as you shake them before using them.

Haus Beauty Glam Attack in Legend
Bella Cacciatore

“As a huge Gaga stan, I had really high hopes for this collection, and I have to say it was a little caught off guard by how minimal it was when I saw the photos. But, having held it in my hands, the simple black packaging feels special and sophisticated. I patted Legend, a stunning gold, on my lids with a brush, and used Aphrodite, a rose quartz, on my cheeks as a highlighter.

For such shimmery products they have no grit or tackiness, they dry in seconds and feel like I have nothing on. As a highlight I think they’re a little too glittery, or at least for day time, but I really love the gold on my eyes. It looks almost molten, and the shine can be seen from across the room. I’ve been touching my eyes all day and the glitter hasn’t budged or rained down my face. I also used the Lip Liner in En Pointe to overline and fill in my lips, and loved how creamy it was yet still had great definition. Is there anything Gaga can’t do?” —Bella Cacciatore, beauty associate

Haus Beauty in Rose Bitch
Lindsay Schallon

“In an actual huge surprise to me, pink shimmery eyeshadow has become a mainstay in my beauty routine summer. I love that it brings out the green in my eyes and it always feels a little more special than a basic neutral. Now I’ve got another to add to my rotation, because this shade is stupid pretty. I love that the applicator is slightly tipped and comes to a point at the end, which makes it easy to brush on without any thought—both on your lids and as underliner. It was a smidge creasy on my oily eyelids by 5 P.M., but nothing a quick swipe of my finger couldn’t fix. I totally get why this one is Gaga’s favorite.” —Lindsay Schallon, senior beauty editor

Haus Beauty Glam Attack in Dynasty
Brionna Jimerson

“I’ve low-key been waiting for Haus Laboratories to drop so that I could try out a more pigmented eye look a la the Spring 2020 runways. Gaga’s liquid eyeshadow in Dynasty is exactly what I was on the hunt for: a heavily pigmented yet lightweight eyeshadow that’s built for finger application. A little product goes a VERY long way. Not even a full brush-load of this emerald—which was inspired by Gaga’s look at the 2015 Grammy’s—is needed to give ultimate payoff. I’m a fan.” —Brionna Jimerson, associate social media manager

Lady Gaga's New Album: Everything We Know So Far

Lady Gaga shut down rumors she’s pregnant on Twitter Tuesday night (March 12) by announcing something even bigger: She’s hard at work on her sixth studio album. “Rumors I’m pregnant? Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6,” she tweeted, to the delight of her 78.2 million followers. Granted, Gaga has said in the past she’s working on new music, but this is the first time she’s called it #LG6, which suggests the project is nearing completion and release.

This will be Lady Gaga‘s first solo album since 2016’s Joanne, which polarized fans with its acoustic, stripped-down sound—a far cry from the splashy, electro-pop hits that made her a household name. Details surrounding #LG6 are few and far between. Gaga’s only talked about it generally—but this hasn’t stopped fans from coming up with plenty of theories. Here’s everything we know about the new album so far. Of course, we’ll update this post with more information as it comes in.

The release date. Gaga hasn’t officially announced this yet, but fans can expect the record to drop this year—possibly within the next few months. The singer doesn’t return to Las Vegas for her Enigma residency until late May, so now seems like the perfect opportunity to tee up an album.

The sound. Shortly after announcing #LG6 on Twitter, Gaga followed Rihanna and the producer BloodPop on Instagram, fueling rumors there are collaborations in the works. Gaga keeps up with only 40 people on Instagram—a mix of close friends and people she’s worked with—which is why the Rihanna follow is a big deal.

BloodPop worked with Gaga on several songs for Joanne, but his production discography spans genres, so it’s unclear what kind of music they’re cooking up (if any). Meanwhile, fans have been inkling for a RiRi feature ever since she tweeted lyrics to Gaga’s song “Sexxx Dreams” back in 2013. From that alone, diehards gauged Rihanna and Gaga were coming up with a remix to”Sexxx Dreams.” To say their collaboration is overdue would be an understatement.

In July 2018, the cutting-edge electronic DJ Sophie revealed she was working with Gaga on her new record. “Yes,” she said when a fan asked her. “Whatever, you know. I’m working on a lot of different things. If it comes out, that’s cool.”

Justin Tranter, who’s produced hits for Selena Gomez, Britney Spears, and Gwen Stefani, was also spotted in the studio with Gaga in May 2018:

I also wouldn’t be surprised if Mark Ronson, Gaga’s Joanne and “Shallow collaborator, made his way onto #LG6, as well. Boys Noize, the German electronic producer, is also rumored to be on the album.

What Gaga has said about the new album. In November 2017, Gaga told Entertainment Weekly she’d started on #LG6. “I’ve started writing,” she said. “I have a lot of ideas and a lot of things I want to create, so you’ll see in a bit. I need some time to create.” She confirmed to Vogue in October 2018 that new music was in the works too.

The songs. Entertainment Weekly reports in November 2017, Gaga previewed a song either called ““Frankenstein” or “Frankensteined” for fans that was supposedly new material. Of course, it’s very possible this was just an experiment that will end up on the cutting room floor.

ARTPOP could be a major influence. Gaga’s 2013 ARTPOP record was unjustly crucified despite it being one of her most energetic and cohesive offerings to date. It’s quite likely #LG6 will recall that era in more ways than one. DJ White Shadow (real name Paul Blair), a frequent Gaga collaborator, is said to be involved with #LG6, and even called the project ARTPOP‘s “little sister.” “For all her flaws, strangeness and beauty, I thank you ARTPOP for the lessons learned and the gifts you gave. Happy 4th Birthday. I can’t wait to introduce you to your little sister,” he posted to Instagram, according to EW.

Lady Gaga's Oscars Beauty Look Included a $26 Mascara

Lady Gaga‘s red carpet season for A Star Is Born has been nothing less than iconic. From her glamorous boat arrival at the Venice Film Festival to her lilac hair at the Golden Globes, the singer/actress—and her glam team—have been serving look after look after look.

Of course, her makeup at last night’s Academy Awards was no exception. It was timeless, classic, and all about those lashes. “Her makeup was all about being soft, fresh, and young. We didn’t want anything to distract from this special moment,” her makeup artist Sarah Tanno said of the look created with products from Marc Jacobs Beauty. For her eyes, Tanno used Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in Steel(etto) ($49) for light definition. To line, she used the soft grey Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Steel(etto) ($24). And then, the pièce de résistance: Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26) over the Velvet Lash Primer ($26).

That mascara certainly did its job. It not only stayed put through Gaga’s incredible live performance of “Shallow” with her A Star Is Born co-star and director, Bradley Cooper, it also withstood her emotional acceptance speech for Best Original Song. “If you have a dream, fight for it. I’ve worked hard for a long time, and it’s not about winning,” she said, while radiating on stage. “It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and keep on going.”

Gaga’s dramatic eye makeup was balanced with a soft, nude lip and glowing skin. For her lips, Tanno applied the creamy nude Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in Slow Burn ($30), tapping it on so you could still see the natural texture of her lips. On her skin, she used Shameless Youthful-Look 24-H Foundation SPF 25 ($46), along with the new Accomplice Concealer & Touch-Up Stick in Medium 33 and 36 ($32), which launches in April. Finally, she set the look with another soon-to-launch product, Accomplice Instant Blurring Beauty Powder in Muse ($32), which, according to Tanno, makes skin look airbrushed in photos.

It was almost as if the Oscars camera crew knew we needed a close-up on Gaga’s makeup, so they gave it to us during the “Shallow” performance. Well done by all.

Fans Are Divided Over the Meaning of Lady Gaga's Latest Tattoo

When it comes to keeping her fans guessing, Lady Gaga is truly a professional. We never know what to expect next from Mother Monster, and whether she’s taking the reins of a giant robot or showing up to the red carpet looking like an IRL princess, we’re always left amazed. And after debuting a brand-new tattoo, the singer has once again left fans puzzled, with many trying to solve the mysterious meaning behind her ink.

Just days after debuting a new tattoo inspired by A Star Is Born, Lady Gaga showed off some arm ink featuring musical notes on a scale. As noted by Refinery29, fans on Instagram soon pointed out that the fifth line required of sheet music was missing from Gaga’s ink. Deleting the post, she returned moments later, showing the addition of a fifth line with the caption: “musical crisis averted.”

However, fans are now divided on how the notes are meant to be read. While some fans believe the music is spelling out G-A-G-A by reading the notes in treble clef, others pointed out that if you read the music as being in bass clef, the notes spell out B-C-B-C, which could be a possible nod to her manager Bobby Campbell or her Star Is Born costar Bradley Cooper.

One fan believed it might be a clue to future music, tweeting, “I’m betting that is the title of LG6, and she’s doing the rock hand gesture, maybe rock genre??? Or am I reaching.”

And one user decided that we’ll simply never know until Lady Gaga explains, tweeting, “There’s no treble clef so we really have no idea what those notes are…could be ABAB or BCBC….”

Luckily, Mother Monster seems to have settled the debate herself, confirming that the tattoo is “my name, written in music.”

Phew, mystery solved.

Grammys 2019: Lady Gaga's Acceptance Speech Addresses Mental Health

Lady Gaga took home took home the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born at the 2019 Grammys on Sunday night (February 10), and she used her speech as an opportunity to talk about mental health and the importance of reaching out for help.

“I’m so proud to be a part of a movie that addresses mental health issues,” Gaga said. “They’re so important. And a lot of artists deal with that, and we’ve got to take care of each other. So if you see somebody that’s hurting don’t look away. And if you’re hurting, even though it might be hard, try to find that bravery within yourself to dive deep and go tell somebody and take them up in your head with you.”

Watch Lady Gaga‘s speech for yourself, below:

Fans took to Twitter to applaud Gaga for her candor:

Gaga has been quite open about her struggles with mental health. “One in four of us will have to deal with a mental health condition at some point in our lives, and if we’re not directly affected, someone we care for is likely to be,” Gaga and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the World Health Organization, wrote in an essay for The Guardian back in October 2018 . “Yet despite the universality of the issue, we struggle to talk about it openly or to offer adequate care or resources. Within families and communities, we often remain silenced by a shame that tells us that those with mental illness are somehow less worthy or at fault for their own suffering.”

Gaga’s already won three Grammys this evening, two for “Shallow” from A Star Is Born and one for “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?).” “I’m not gonna be able to wear any makeup tonight,” she wrote in an emotional tweet celebrating her wins. A star really is born.
