Skylar Astin Is a Libra Who Eats in Bed and Holds the Door Open for Women

Some people’s fantasies feature rippling muscles, four poster beds, chocolate dripping in unsanitary places. Others fixate on leather, bad boys, the satisfying feeling of doing something a little bit wrong.

And some of us just want to see Skylar Astin in a crew neck sweater, soulfully belting Kelly Clarkson a capella with his eyes closed.

Astin, who starred in the Pitch Perfect movies and Crazy Ex Girlfriend, will once again bring to the screen his specific skill set of looking and sounding as smooth and comforting as a spoonful of peanut butter, straight from the jar. In the new NBC musical TV show Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Zoey (Jane Levy) gains the ability to hear people’s thoughts…expressed through musical numbers. Astin, as Zoey’s best friend, plays the role he’s perfected: He’s not a “nice guy,” that creepy archetype every woman has experienced, a dude who secretly feels like you owe him sex because he half-listens to your problems. He’s more like a “good person guy,” a genuinely nice man who encourages his female colleague to go for the promotion and expresses his innermost thoughts through Jonas Brothers songs.

That’s hot. So we invited Skylar to answer our Inappropriate Questions, Glamour’s column that asks all the cheeky, slightly off-kilter stuff best saved for a second (or better yet, third) date. Read on for his take on who should pay for dates, his extreme glow-up, and the messiest thing he does in bed…

Glamour: You stop by a convenience store on your way to a party. What are you buying to bring?

Skylar Astin: Probably booze, right? Definitely Tequila if they have it, or if not, a 12-rack of beer, probably Dos Equis.

What was the worst thing you’ve ever done on a date?

I forgot my wallet once. I’d made the person come to my side of town, and we’d been making jokes about how I would definitely pay. I knew she would pay, but I was so embarrassed. I had to say, “I’m mortified about this, but is there any chance you’ll stay here for 20 minutes and I’ll just go back and get it?” Thank god I was very close to my house.

What is the most inappropriate thing a fan has ever said to you?

Oh, comments like, “You look better on camera,” or, “You look better in person.” Either of those is like….well, what are you saying about the other thing? Also mistaking me for someone else, that happens a lot. I’ve gotten Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the guy from How I Met Your Mother, Zachary Levi, Dane Cook. But really, I tend to be just fine!

What’s something that everyone seems to love but you dislike?

I never got into the Kardashians. But I really understand why people do! But it never struck me.

What’s the sexiest thing about yourself?

I like to think that I don’t take myself too seriously, and I have a pretty healthy balance of drive and humor. I’m a Libra, through and through.

You believe in astrology?

I do! I do. I don’t live my life by it completely, but I think it’s fascinating. There’s definitely many truths to it. I felt more compatible with certain friendships. Even in some relationships, I’ve felt like, “Oh that’s weird, I’ve dated the most of this kind of sign.” And like, “Oh, my mother and my brother are both this sign.” It’s little stuff like that.

What’s your type?

I’m open to any kind of connection. But generally I don’t really like anyone who has any narcissistic tendencies. Someone who is open, friendly, kind, but also self-assured, without being cocky. Someone who’s got their own thing going on. And someone who I respect and admire. That, generally, is a turn-on for me.

Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie Shaded Leonardo DiCaprio About That Titanic Door Scene

Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie are currently making the rounds promoting their upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But during a recent interview with MTV, the three stars weighed in on a controversial moment from DiCaprio’s past: that famous Titanic door scene.

In the almost 22 years since the film’s 1997 debut, the topic of whether or not Jack could have fit on the floating door that allowed Kate Winslet‘s Rose’s heart to go on has been hotly debated. Of course, he does not, dies, and sinks down into the ocean as Rose floats to safety. Back in 2017, Winslet told Stephen Colbert that Jack “should have tried harder to get on that door,” and it appears that Robbie agrees with this sentiment.

“Oh my God, I thought it,” she replies when interviewer Josh Horowitz, throws out the question, “Could Jack have fit on that door at the end of Titanic?” She goes on to say that she remembers “bawling her eyes out as a girl.” DiCaprio insists (with a smile) throughout the exchange that he has “no comment.” Horowitz says, “That’s telling, I think.”

“That is funny,” Pitt says. “I’m going to have to go back and look now, shoot. Certainly.” He goes on to rib DiCaprio, “Could you? Could you? Could you have squeezed in there? You could’ve, couldn’t you?” DiCaprio holds strong with another, “No comment” even as Robbie asks whether he inquired about the logistics at the time.

Watch the exchange for yourself below.

The social media replies show that time hasn’t slowed down the need for answers to this all-important question. In fact, this one interview will probably ignite the debate all over again. “It wasn’t space that was the issue, it was buoyancy. Myth Busters proved it,” one user wrote. “He could have fit on the door, There was room for two of that door,” another insisted.

The mystery lives on, I guess.

Twitter Is Really Praising Meghan Markle For Shutting Her Own Car Door

Meghan Markle is receiving so much love on the Internet right now for closing her own car door. No, I’m not kidding.

On Tuesday (September 25), the Duchess of Sussex attended her first-ever solo outing for the opening of the Oceania exhibit at the Royal Academy of Art in London and was captured on camera closing her own car door. This, it turns out, is apparently a really big deal. Upon arriving at the event, she exited her car, shook hands with one of the hosts, then turned around and, well, shut the door.

As with any time Markle does something “normal” (like straighten her hair), Twitter used the occasion to praise the newest member of the royal family for being just like the rest of commoners. “A princess who still takes the time to shut her car door. Well done Meghan!” wrote The Sun‘s royal correspondent Emily Andrews, along with a video of the occurrence. “First time I’ve seen an on-duty princess shut her own car door…” tweeted another user. Others took the opportunity to laud the duchess for how “humble” and “down to earth” she is, despite her new role in Kensington Palace.

To be clear, this isn’t even the first time Markle has shut her own car door since becoming a royal (not counting the approximate 200,000 times she likely also shut her own car door in her pre-duchess days). People notes that she also did the honors last week upon arriving at the launch of her Together: Our Community Cookbook.

#MeTooK12 Is Opening the Door for Students to Talk About Sexual Assault

Since the explosive reports of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein, the #MeToo movement has shed light on the rampant sexual misconduct that permeates our culture. Countless women have stepped forward to accuse powerful men of sexual harassment and assault, everywhere from Hollywood to Silicon Valley to Washington, DC.

And do you know where else sexual misconduct happens? High schools. Hell, it even happens in middle schools.

Through a new offshoot of the #MeToo movement, called #MeTooK12, girls who have faced sexual harassment or assault in school are coming forward with their stories. They echo the stories we’ve been hearing from grown women for weeks, except that this time, the assault is happening in classrooms, cafeterias, and school hallways. The people being accused are classmates, teachers, and school administrators.

Often, the girls say they reported the misconduct, but there were no repercussions, which reflects research into the harassment in schools. According to the American Association of University Women, data from the U.S. Department of Education shows that 67 percent of public schools in the U.S. reported zero incidents of sexual harassment of gender-based bullying during the 2013-2014 school year. But many other reports show that sexual harassment and bullying are way more common than that—AAUW research found that more than half of girls have experienced some form of sexual harassment in school.

So, two takeaways: First: A lot of kids are experiencing sexual harassment in school. Second: They’re not being taken seriously by teachers, counselors, and school administrators—the very adults who are supposed to protect them. When schools fail to respond to allegations, they’re essentially teaching girls that sexual misconduct is OK.

Because of Title IX, which outlawed sex discrimination in educational institutions that get federal funding, schools are supposed to accurately report sexual harassment and assault—it’s the law. If you want to learn more about how well schools are handling sexual misconduct where you live, check out this chart from the AAUW. If you’re concerned that allegations aren’t being handled properly in a school near you, contact your regional Title IX coordinator for help.
