Oh yeah, totally ghosted people long before the term was available. I don’t think that’s always a terrible thing. I think sometimes as we learn the conversations we want to find ourselves in, we realize sometimes that we’re in conversations that are horrible for us and the other person. So yeah, I’ve walked away with no regrets in many relationships. I don’t think you should ever do that with a relationship of substance, but sometimes people won’t let you change the dynamics and you have to walk away.
Who was your first celebrity crush?
Jane Seymour in Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve. Oh my God, I wanted to travel through time for her.
Do you believe in astrology?
I don’t really practice it, but every time somebody puts it in front of my face it seems pretty fucking accurate. I’ll usually say, “Oh wow, that’s weird how well you’ve pegged me.” I am a Cancer with a Leo rising and a Leo moon.
Wait, you know your moon but don’t follow astrology?
I definitely have been paying attention more over the last few years. The only reason I know my moon is because years ago a girl I was dating—who was really toxic for me while I was in a broken space—decided to have my full charts done. My dog didn’t like her and chewed that book up within an hour of my possession of it. She never did anything like that before. And it’s like, “You want me to get rid of her, don’t you, sweetheart?” So that was about all the information I downloaded from it.
Do you find it to be accurate?
It is. I am, on the surface of things, one of the most extroverted people—but if I don’t get my alone time, all you people be damned. I’m imbalanced, so I need both things. I very much appear as an extrovert, but I have a lot of introverted tendencies. Ask my girlfriend.
Grab your love ferns, people, because a reboot of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is coming. Yes, according to a new article from the Los Angeles Times, Quibi, a streaming company that develops content exclusively for mobile phones, and Paramount TV are developing an adaptation of the classic Kate Hudson rom-com. Here’s the official description of the reboot, per an email from Quibi: “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days follows a glib young online columnist and an oversexed advertising executive who both need to prove, once and for all, they’re capable of being monogamous. They soon discover, however, keeping a relationship is harder than Andie Anderson made it look!”
Confusion around the phrase “oversexed advertising executive” aside, I’m deliriously excited about this project. Guy Branum, who worked heavily behind the scenes on The Mindy Project, has been tapped to write, so you know it’s in good hands. There’s no word yet, though, on whether Hudson or Matthew McConaughey will make appearances. They could be the bosses of said “glib young online columnist” and “oversexed advertising executive.” I’m just throwing out ideas!
And I have many, many more. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is, hands down, my favorite romantic comedy of all time. It’s a near-perfect movie. Kate Hudson deserved an Oscar nomination for it. So I’m personally quite invested in making sure this reboot is incredible. Here are just a few tips for making sure that happens:

Alex Rodriguez has made it clear he knows how lucky he is to be with Jennifer Lopez. He’s the ultimate Instagram husband, raves about her whenever he can, and even works out to her music. So when a fan approached him and asked if he was “the guy J.Lo is dating,” he wasn’t insulted at all. Instead, the baseball champ decided to have a little fun with the situation.
“Yeah! A-Rod. Alex Rodriguez. There we go,” the person said to Rodriguez at first.
“Who’s that?” Rodriguez responded playfully, to which the woman replied, “That’s the guy that J.Lo is dating.” Facts are facts.
“You’re kidding me!” he said, feigning surprise. This exchange went on for a few more seconds, with the inquiring person showing A-Rod photos of himself to prove they look alike. “First of all, I would never wear pajamas that goofy,” he said about one of the pics. “I mean, what a tool!”
Eventually, Rodriguez revealed that he was, in fact, “the guy J.Lo is dating.” The fact that this woman used this as his primary identifier is iconic, to say the least. Where is the lie?
“She’s the hardest working lady and, you know, I grew up with a single mother. I have two daughters. I am a big, big promoter of women equality,” Rodriguez said about Lopez to Entertainment Tonight a few months back. “I like that for my daughters and Jennifer is the role model.”
Rodriguez and Lopez first met in 2005 but it wasn’t until March 2017 that they officially began dating.

We’ve seen the Queer Eye guys help people dress better, clean up their living spaces, gain confidence, and even propose to their significant others, but did you know that they also have the power to get A-list celebs into high-profile parties? Claire Foy does now, since Jonathan Van Ness did just that on Monday night, when the actress was reportedly struggling to gain admission to the annual post–Emmy Awards Governor’s Ball. That’s right: Queen Elizabeth II herself (kinda), who had accepted the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series mere hours before, was almost not allowed into an Emmys after-party.
The Good Samaritan move was shared on Twitter by The Hollywood Reporter‘s Chris Gardner, who watched it all go down. “Just witnessed crazy #EMMYS moment: Queen almost couldn’t get into Governors Ball. Claire Foy, best actress in drama winner, denied entry because of ripped ticket that prevented her team from entering back entrance until @jvn came to rescue after gushing over how much he loves her,” Gardner tweeted. As you can see in the photo Gardner attached to the post, Foy is literally carrying her Emmy in her hand, which should probably count for more than any ticket, ripped or not.
Regardless of these questionable ticketing policies, it appears that Foy was eventually able to enter the party, thanks in large part to Van Ness. The whole mix-up also gave Van Ness and Foy the chance to fawn over each other, and then share those incredible moments with the world. That night Van Ness shared a photo on Instagram of himself and the the Crown star—in coordinating white satin ensembles, no less—that appears to have been taken outside the party, either just before or after he salvaged Foy’s after-party plans.
The next day he uploaded a series of shots from the Emmys, including a video in which he appears to be recording a friendly message for one of Foy’s friends on her phone. Amid his proclaiming his love for all things British, Foy shouts, “This is the best thing that’s ever happened!” Couldn’t agree more.
Democrat Stacey Abrams has an opponent in her quest to become Georgia’s next governor. The Yale-trained attorney will take on Republican Brian Kemp in the race, drawing the eyes of the nation to a pivotal November contest between a progressive black woman and a pro-Trump conservative man.
Abrams is campaigning to become the first black woman governor in U.S. history. A businesswoman and writer, she was the first female leader of her state’s General Assembly. On the other side is Kemp, who is currently Georgia’s sitting secretary of state and a former state senator. President Donald Trump endorsed him as “tough on crime, strong on the border and illegal immigration”—helping him defeat Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle in Tuesday’s Republican primary for governor to become his party’s nominee.
Now Abrams and Kemp will duke it out to succeed Republican Governor Nathan Deal, who can’t run again because of term limits. Their showdown highlights a coast-to-coast midterm battle between Republicans who embrace Trump’s economic and social agenda and the Democrats who passionately reject it.
Abrams got her shot at Georgia’s highest office after the backing of A-list supporters and strong fund-raising helped her win a May Democratic primary showdown against a somewhat more moderate white candidate, Stacey Evans.
But with an opponent who is a Trump favorite in the other corner, how will Abrams fare? Audrey Haynes, University of Georgia associate professor of political science, says she has a tough fight ahead of her.
She expects the possibility of an Abrams win will energize Democrats, including black women voters, who have been key players in many of this cycle’s highest-profile elections, especially at a time when America has just six sitting female governors and not a single state with a black chief executive.
But Georgia went for Trump over Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election, and has yet to join the ranks of swing states that neither Republicans nor Democrats can consider a lock. (In fact, Georgia has not elected a Democratic governor since 1998.)
That same excitement could also emerge among Republican voters who want to use the midterms as a show of support for Trump and his chosen candidates, including people like Kemp, whose campaign featured an ad in which he proudly proclaimed himself a “politically incorrect conservative” who’d even use his “big truck” to “round up criminal illegals” personally.

A Brian Kemp for Governor ad
Bring it on, says Abrams, who’s running on a platform that emphasizes criminal justice reform and economic opportunity and who tweeted that she’d be proud to join the ranks of Democrats Trump has campaigned against.
Kemp, meanwhile, tweeted his thanks to Trump and said he looks forward to working with his former rival Cagle “to defeat Stacey Abrams and her radical, left-wing backers!” He promises to be a governor who will defend the rights of gun owners, fight crime, and cut government regulations.
Come November “I would predict that turnout will be high. People are passionate,” Haynes told Glamour via email. “I suspect that President Trump will make an appearance, and I am sure that the Abrams campaign would love to see him go off script and deliver a message that they can use to motivate their voters, particularly women, to turn out.”
Individually, “Kemp has shown that he can campaign, stay on message, build bridges to his intra-party opponents, and stump well. Abrams is a very good communicator, can raise money, stay on message, and can campaign as well. Both come into the general election with some baggage that will be the content of a multitude of negative ads from a host of super PACs and such,” Haynes told Glamour.
For Abrams, that baggage includes her admission of racking up significant personal debt. Kemp’s critics, meanwhile, say his political ambitions have been financed by some of the same people whose businesses he oversees as secretary of state.
“In the end, this will be a contest of ideas—whose do you like better—and one’s existing partisanship may have already decided that in a very polarized political environment,” Haynes said. “It will be a contest of organization, who can mobilize, and it will be a contest of endurance [as to] who can campaign to the very end. Those of us who study politics are watching to see what will happen.”
And with the nation’s eyes laser-focused on a race that could go down in the history books, they won’t be alone.
