A New Episode of Tiger King Is Coming to Netflix April 12

The rumors are true: A new episode of Tiger King is coming to Netflix.

In early April, Netflix released a new interview with Tiger King’s Joe Exotic from prison, which only increased fans’ hopes to see more of the true-crime show, centered on an outlandish zookeeper, Exotic, who was convicted of attempting to hire an assassin to take out his rival, Carole Baskin (along with multiple wildlife abuse charges, including killing five tigers).

Then, of course, Exotic’s other rival, Jeff Lowe, announced on Cameo that Netflix would release one more episode of this truly wild ride. But without a statement from Netflix to back up his claim, there was no way to know for sure.

Until now, that is. On April 9, Netflix announced that an after-show of sorts called The Tiger King and I, hosted by Joel McHale, is coming on April 12. It will feature new interviews with the series’s supporting players, including John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie, Rick Kirkman, and Jeff Lowe. Hopefully, there will be even more of that Joe Exotic prison interview, as well.

“It’s eye-opening and, hopefully, funny,” McHale promises. Unfortunately, Baskin will not be a part of the eighth installment. “We have not been approached about a new episode and would not participate if asked,” a representative for Baskin told Entertainment Weekly in a statement. It also seems Doc Antle and his wives have been left out.

For more on Baskin and the mysterious disappearance of her former husband, you’ll just have to wait for the Investigation Discovery (ID) series, Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic. “Love her or hate her, Carole is now in the center ring of the big-cat circus,” the network said in a statement, per EW. “Is she a selfless crusader and protector of animals who found unimaginable strength despite the mysterious disappearance of her husband? Or are we witnessing Carole Baskin’s master plan finally take effect? Despite her claims of innocence, did she orchestrate the disappearance of Don Lewis to seize control of his fortune, consolidate power and lay waste to her foes? No one seems to be talking–except for one man—and that man is the center of ID’s upcoming investigative series.”

Netflix

With a mini-series also on the way, starring Kate McKinnon as Baskin, it looks like we’ll be getting a lot more Tiger King content for a very long time.

Celebrities Are Coming Unhinged During Quarantine, and I've Never Felt More Seen

People keep asking me how I’m doing during this period of self-isolation and quarantine because of the coronavirus, and I’m unsure what to say. Am I surviving? Yes. Am I staging full-on productions of “All that Jazz” wearing nothing but a red Christmas blanket? Also yes. Is that why I’m surviving, perhaps? A thousand percent.

Quarantine has gotten weird, guys. Now that I’ve ripped through everything I wanted to on Netflix, organized my closet (i.e.: moved all the crap to a place I can’t see it), and caught up with everyone I’ve ever encountered since birth, I’m bored. So bored. And that boredom is manifesting in behaviors that would typically seem bizarre but now make total sense. Like having a dance party for one in the pitch black. In my living room. After drinking a bottle of wine. To the same song on a loop. I think Jessica Lange did something similar on a season of American Horror Story, and her character was literally going insane. For me, though, it was just Saturday night.

And Monday night, and Tuesday night, and Wednesday. No, I’m not staging full-on discos every day, but I am doing at least one thing that borders on unhinged—and not intentionally, either. When I say unhinged, I don’t mean physically or emotionally harmful, just kooky. I think finding humor in the absurdity of what I’m doing indoors is helping me cope with the true absurdity on the outside. Translation: Doing the “Bad Romance” choreography while staring straight into the eyes of the Gaga photo I have blown up and framed in my kitchen is my coronavirus coping mechanism.

A few celebrities out there get this, too. They’re not performing pop shows for inanimate objects, per se, but they are exhibiting some, erm, off-kilter behavior and posting it for the world to see. I feel completely seen in their wackiness. And if you’ve also been flirting with your lampshade on and off for the past week, I think you will too.

Behold: The most delightfully deranged things celebs have done while in quarantine:

Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s makeup look here.

Kristin Chenoweth belting out a random opera note while putting cheese on pasta, dressed in a Winnie the Pooh onesie.

Ina Garten making a cocktail the size of a 9-year-old child.

January Jones dumping an entire box of baking soda into her “detox bath,” wearing an opulent rainbow caftan in the middle of the day. Also: her neon mask and beer dance party.

Leslie Jordan making enough chicken salad “for an army” while waxing poetic about the time he took an “illicit substance” at a New York City nightclub.

Cardi B screaming bloody murder at her computer screen and yelling expletives in full glam.

Madonna replacing some of the lyrics to “Vogue” with the phrase “fried fish.” Sure!

Judi Dench wandering around her house in a dog hat.

Jessica Chastain “spying” on people and seeing things that only make sense in a Willy Wonka movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger having a formal meal in his house alongside a live pony and donkey.

And last but not least, Julianne Moore vacuuming her lawn for…reasons?

I am all of these people.

Rihanna Says Fenty Skin Is Coming

When Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, it revolutionized the makeup industry based on one single premise: Give the people—all the people—products in shade ranges that work for them. And now that that’s finally becoming the norm, Rih has her sights set on doing the same thing for skin care.

In her new interview with British Vogue (she’s the magazine’s May cover star), RiRi confirms that Fenty Skin is, in fact, coming—although she doesn’t have an exact release date yet. “Skin care, it’s the truth. It either works or it doesn’t. There’s nowhere to hide,” she tells the magazine.

Of course, when Fenty Skin does launch, it will no-doubt be top-notch. All of RiRi’s endeavors are—whether that’s launching a foundation, designing a line of lingerie, or dropping new music, which fans have been eagerly anticipating for years. “I refuse to release anything that is not up to par with my quality level,” she says about her endeavors with Fenty. “The angle of a hem, the size of a sleeve, the stitch… If it’s not the right stitch that I want.”

Rihanna’s brand is all about quality—and diversity. She says she’s still surprised when people come up to her and suggest that making products for a range of skin tones was a novel, revolutionary idea.

“I’m shocked by people saying, ‘Oh my god, what made you think of making makeup for black girls?’” she tells British Vogue. “I’m like, ‘What? You thought this was like, a marketing strategy? Like I’m a genius?’ It’s shocking most of the time, then it turns into disappointment that this is groundbreaking right now. In my mind, this was just normal.”

Also normal for Rihanna: having a heavy, active hand in Fenty—down to the words on bottles and product names. That’s one of many reasons why the brand is successful: It’s authentic. “I write all of the copy for the websites, the product descriptions, and product names,” she says. “I do have a huge team, but I just don’t necessarily think their tone is mine. I’d feel like a fraud selling something that I can’t stand by.”

Another Mean Girls Movie Is Coming

Amazing Thursday news, people: Another Mean Girls movie is in the works—with Tina Fey attached. That’s right: According to Variety, an adaption of the Mean Girls musical, which Fey also wrote, is happening.

“I’m very excited to bring Mean Girls back to the big screen,” Fey said in a statement. “It’s been incredibly gratifying to see how much the movie and the musical have meant to audiences. I’ve spent sixteen years with these characters now. They are my Marvel Universe and I love them dearly.”

If you’re a fan of Mean Girls, then you know a second film (Mean Girls 2) has already happened. But this adaptation of the musical will include Fey behind the scenes—which Mean Girls 2 did not. That means you can count on the same humor and style you love and still quote from the original 2004 movie.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing this iconic property back to the big screen in musical form with our incredible filmmaking team,” Paramount president of production Elizabeth Raposo said, according to Variety.

There’s no word yet on casting for the movie, but here’s hoping a few of the film’s original stars come back. Wouldn’t it be great to see Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, Amanda Seyfried and company reprise their iconic roles? Or at least make some memorable cameos.

The Mean Girls musical stays true to the 2004 movie’s DNA, offering a similar story with some stellar songs thrown into the mix. “It has been a joy to work on Mean Girls and to watch it go from film, to musical, and now to musical film,” Lorne Michaels, who help produced both the musical and 2004’s Mean Girls, said. “I am very proud that Tina’s story and characters continue to resonate with new generations.”

Let the countdown to this new movie begin. I just have one request: Bring Glen Coco back!
