Jason Lewis Is So Much More Than ‘That Guy’ from Sex and the City

Have you ever ghosted someone?

Oh yeah, totally ghosted people long before the term was available. I don’t think that’s always a terrible thing. I think sometimes as we learn the conversations we want to find ourselves in, we realize sometimes that we’re in conversations that are horrible for us and the other person. So yeah, I’ve walked away with no regrets in many relationships. I don’t think you should ever do that with a relationship of substance, but sometimes people won’t let you change the dynamics and you have to walk away.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Jane Seymour in Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve. Oh my God, I wanted to travel through time for her.

Do you believe in astrology?

I don’t really practice it, but every time somebody puts it in front of my face it seems pretty fucking accurate. I’ll usually say, “Oh wow, that’s weird how well you’ve pegged me.” I am a Cancer with a Leo rising and a Leo moon.

Wait, you know your moon but don’t follow astrology?

I definitely have been paying attention more over the last few years. The only reason I know my moon is because years ago a girl I was dating—who was really toxic for me while I was in a broken space—decided to have my full charts done. My dog didn’t like her and chewed that book up within an hour of my possession of it. She never did anything like that before. And it’s like, “You want me to get rid of her, don’t you, sweetheart?” So that was about all the information I downloaded from it.

Do you find it to be accurate?

It is. I am, on the surface of things, one of the most extroverted people—but if I don’t get my alone time, all you people be damned. I’m imbalanced, so I need both things. I very much appear as an extrovert, but I have a lot of introverted tendencies. Ask my girlfriend.

Coming to Netflix in August 2019: The Sex and the City Movie Is Back Next Month

Just when I think I’ve maybe, possibly caught up on everything on my list of shows to stream, Netflix drops a bunch more to add to my queue—and honestly, I love them for it.

A ton of titles will be available come August 1. First up, you can watch Charlotte scream at Big in the street for the millionth time in Sex and the City: The Movie. Classic (highly rewatchable) comedies like Four Weddings and a Funeral and Groundhog Day will also be available, along with Quentin Tarantino’s Jackie Brown and all the original Rocky films.

But there are also new seasons of Netflix original series like GLOW, Mindhunter, and Dear White People. I suggest catching up on the earlier episodes right now before they debut. I’m also super excited for Tiffany Haddish Presents: They Ready which will showcase new comedians and Falling Inn Love, a rom-com starring Cristina Milian as a city girl who wins a New Zealand inn in a contest and “teams up with bighearted contractor Jake Taylor (Adam Demos) to fix and flip it.” That sounds sure to tug my corny heartstrings.

Kim Cattrall on Why She'll 'Never' Be in Another Sex and the City Movie

If you’re one of those Sex and the City stans still holding out hope for a SATC 3 with the full cast…sorry, friend. Kim Cattrall has made it clear that she will never, ever participate in Sex and the City 3. Of course, Cattrall—who brought PR exec by day, heartbreaker by night Samantha Jones to life—has long been outspoken about not wanting to return to the beloved franchise, but a recent interview with The Daily Mail is the most definitive she’s been yet.

When asked if she would appear in another SATC film, she told the publication, “Never. It’s a no from me.”

She then added, “You learn lessons in life, and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.” The Daily Mail dubbed this “a swipe” at her former costar Sarah Jessica Parker, though Cattrall doesn’t name check Parker—or any Sex and the City costars, for that matter—in the interview.

While there have been rumors of tension between Parker and Cattrall for years, things came to the surface last winter after Cattrall’s brother passed away. Parker shared her condolences on Cattrall’s Instagram, to which Cattrall replied, “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

A *Sex and the City* Follow-Up Is Coming to TV

Stop what you’re doing, people: Sex and the City is coming back to television.

This news comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, which confirmed Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have acquired the rights to Is There Still Sex in the City?, the follow-up book from original SATC author Candace Bushnell. The book is slated for an August release and explores sex, dating, and friendships for women over 50. Paramount TV’s series will, presumably, come after that.

But here’s the catch: This new show isn’t necessarily a direct sequel to the Sarah Jessica Parker hijinks you watched on HBO for six years. Those hoping for a Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Miranda reunion will probably be disappointed. Granted, no casting information has been announced, so anything’s possible—but I’m not holding my breath. What we’ll most likely get is a story with dynamic new female characters figuring out their romantic lives after 50.

“It didn’t used to be this way. At one time, fifty-something meant the beginning of retirement—working less, spending more time on your hobbies, with your friends, who like you were sliding into a more leisurely lifestyle,” Bushnell said Wednesday (March 27) in a statement. “In short, retirement-age folks weren’t meant to do much of anything but get older and a bit heavier. They weren’t expected to exercise, start new business ventures, move to a different state, have casual sex with strangers, and start all over again. But this is exactly what the lives of a lot of fifty- and sixty-something women look like today, and I’m thrilled to be reflecting the rich, complexity of their reality on the page and now on the screen.”

Nicole Clemens, president of Paramount TV, added, “The original Sex and the City book and series served as a groundbreaking touchstone for an entire generation of women, myself included. We’re thrilled to be able to continue that conversation from the underrepresented point of view of women in their fifties and answer the question with, ‘Yes! There is more sex in the city!'”

THR reports Bushnell will write the pilot episode and serve as an executive producer on the series. A release date hasn’t been announced yet, but I’m already mixing a cosmo in anticipation.

Meghan Markle Is Reportedly on a Secret Girls' Trip to New York City for Her Baby Shower

Sound the alarms and fire up a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” because Meghan Markle is reportedly back on American soil. Reports have emerged that the Duchess of Sussex is currently in New York City for a girls’ trip ahead of the birth of her and Prince Harry’s first child this spring. Royal reporter Omid Scobie, who often travels with the royal couple to their official engagements, has confirmed that Markle is spending the five-night trip with her closest friends, perhaps some of those who recently spoke out in her defense.

“The trip is a lovely chance to catch up with friends and spend time in a city she loves,” a source told Harper’s Bazaar of the getaway. “This will be the last time a lot of them will see Meg until after the baby is born, so it’s nice to share precious moments.” Given some of the tough headlines and endless speculation about every aspect of her life, it seems like the perfect time for a well-deserved break for Markle.

So what does a royal do on a girls’ trip? Sources say much of the hang time is being done in private at her five-star hotel (understandable) but Markle was spotted eating at a restaurant in Soho with her BFF, stylist Jessica Mulroney.

“It’s been a relaxing visit. Nothing beats face time with your friends,” says a source. “Meg will be flying home refreshed and relaxed—and with a lot of new baby clothes.”

One big reason for all those new clothes? A baby shower! Scobie reports that Markle’s friends are throwing her and Baby Sussex a celebration on Tuesday for about 20 people. Showers are much more of an American tradition, so it makes sense that she’s having hers on this side of the pond.

But that’s not all Markle has on her plate before the next royal baby arrives: Next up for Markle is an official trip with Prince Harry to Morocco on February 23-25.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Speaks at 2019 Women's March in New York City

Thousands of people throughout the United States and around the world took to the streets on Saturday, January 19, for the third annual Women’s March. Equipped with powerful signs and posters, marchers raised their voices in support of equal rights, healthcare, and social justice. The theme of justice echoed throughout the New York City march, where Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez addressed the crowd.

Ocasio-Cortez’s compelling speech began by noting that the third annual Women’s March was taking place just before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, something that she doesn’t think is a coincidence. “I believe this moment and where we are right now is a resurgence from where the Civil Rights Movement left off,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “We are here to carry the torch forward, because when we talked about racial and economic justice, racial and social justice, we started to really extend those issues to the issues of economic justice, environmental justice, and the intersectionality and interconnectedness of all of our fights.”

She went on to talk further about the concept of justice, using a powerful refrain to drive the notion home to the crowd. “Justice is not a concept we read about in a book,” she reminded the marchers. “Justice is about the water we drink. Justice is about the air we breathe. Justice is about how easy it is to vote. Justice is about how much ladies get paid…. Justice is about making sure that being polite is not the same thing as being quiet. In fact, often times, the most righteous thing you can do is shake the table.”

In addition to talking about the pursuit of justice, Ocasio-Cortez honed in on some of the political goals ahead: taking back the Senate and the White House. “We need to advance and fight for an America where all people are welcome and no people are left behind,” she said. “And I know that while this year has been historic, there’s a lot more congresswomen left here in this audience right now. There’s a lot more city council women…and I know that there’s a future president out here too.”

Just as powerfully as her speech began, Ocasio-Cortez ended on a poignant note, touching upon some of the serious issues that Americans have faced over recent years and incorporating hope for a better tomorrow. “This is the time we’re gonna address poverty,” the politician promised. “This is the time we’re gonna address Flint. This is the time we’re gonna talk about Baltimore and the Bronx and wildfires and Puerto Rico. This is not just about identity; this is about justice, and this is about the America that we’re going to bring into this world.”
