Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Savannah Phillips Completely Stole the Show at Trooping the Color

The Queen of England’s public birthday celebration, Trooping the Color, has everything a royal-watcher could ask for: high fashion on our two favorite duchesses, handsome princes in uniform, copious amounts of royal waving, and tiny royals doing delightful little-kid things from the regal Buckingham Palace balcony. Speaking of, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, along with cousins Savannah and Isla Phillips (daughters of Princess Anne’s son Peter), totally stole the show when the royal family gathered at Buckingham Palace to watch the military flyover. (Prince Louis was not in attendance, unfortunately.)

It’s partly thanks to what might just be this year’s best GIF. Savannah’s shushing of Prince George—complete with a no-nonsense face to beat them all—went viral.

And she quickly got some new Twitter fans:

Of course, Gary Janetti, whose Instagram posts about Prince George have become a bit of an Internet sensation themselves, weighed in with a two-part ‘gram.

Overall, the royal children seemed to have a blast—look at those excited faces.

But the excitement might have been too much for one of the junior royals: Princess Charlotte had a classic toddler tantrum at one point. Luckily, Kate was right there to comfort her through her tears.

Today’s festivities might have been new for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex—this was her first such occasion—but not so much for Prince Harry and Prince William. They’ve had their share of silly moments on the balcony over the years, as seen here at Trooping the Color in 1988 and 1989.

Here’s 1988:

It’s all just further proof that no matter whether they’re royal or not, kids are always gonna kid.

The Queen Just Gifted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the Vacation House of Dreams

A lot of newlyweds would probably kill for a house of their own as they begin their marriage—but royals being royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not one, but three. They’ve apparently rented a “love nest” in the gorgeous Cotswolds along with their cottage on Kensington Palace grounds—but the latest digs come as a gift from Queen Elizabeth, and it happens to be the perfectly lovely York Cottage.

The house is located on the grounds of Sandringham Estate, where family tends to hang out: The Queen has one of her favorite homes on the property, and she gave Prince William and Kate Middleton Anmer Hall after they got married.

Meghan and Harry’s new digs date all the way back to King Edward VII, who gave it to his son, the future King George V in 1893. According to Metro, it’s been called “eccentric” and is “said to resemble ‘three Merrie England pubs joined together,’ which all sounds pretty great?

Of course, the “cottage” is a cottage only to a royal, as it’s pretty massive. Currently it’s both a holiday home and the central office for Sandringham staff—so there might be a few renovations in store for the newlyweds to make it their own. Check it this timelessly charming pic of it:

As Metro points out, York Cottage once had a now fairly ironic nickname: the Bachelor’s Cottage.

Don’t expect the couple to move in just yet, though: They live—and will probably continue to live—in Nottingham Cottage. According to Metro, the Queen knew Harry and Meghan would need to get away from it all, and thusly gifted them another cottage (one can never have too many).

Queen Elizabeth II Has a Never-Before-Seen Photo of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on Her Mantle

Queen Elizabeth II may be the head of the British Monarchy, but, deep down, she’s just like any other grandmother, decorating her home with photos of her grandkids.

Want proof? An eagle-eyed reporter at Hello magazine spotted a never-before-seen picture of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle adorning the queen’s table in Buckingham Palace. The reporter spotted the pic in the background of a shot taken Wednesday during the queen’s private audience with George Brandis, the Australian high commissioner to the U.K. The framed photo — one of a few others that are blocked — shows Markle wearing a pale blue dress nuzzled up against her prince in a blue suit. It’s unclear where, exactly, the picture was taken, though Hello speculates that it could be from a selection of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s engagement photos that were never released publicly.

See the pic up close, below:

The queen and Prince Harry are known to have a close bond, so it’s hardly surprising that she’d decorate her home with photos of him and Markle. “Don’t forget she’s hugely close to her grandson,” royal expert Katie Nicholl said ahead of the royal wedding. “They have a very special relationship. She is thrilled to be seeing Harry settle down and finally marry.”

Not to mention that there was another tough audience that immediately took to Harry’s significant other: the queen’s corgis.

“It was very sweet,” Markle said of meeting the pups. To which Prince Harry responded: “For the last 33 years, I’ve been barked at. This one walks in, and absolutely nothing! Just wagging tails.”

Considering there was also an entire batch of official portraits taken on the day of the royal wedding that included Markle, Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the queen herself, we’re willing to bet that there will be a new addition to the mantle in the near future.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Reportedly Heading to This 'Royal Retreat' on Their Honeymoon

The royal honeymoon destination plot thickens: It was just last week that royal wedding expert Omid Scobie said Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had changed the location of their honeymoon after the press got wind that the couple was reportedly heading to Namibia. Now, we have an update regarding what could very well be their final honeymoon destination. TMZ reports that the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex might actually be going to Alberta, Canada to celebrate their marriage.

Obsessed with the Royals? Same. Click here to get Meghan Markle updates—and more—from Glamour’s daily newsletter.

“Sources” told TMZ that the newlyweds might just be planning to stay at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, in the resort’s 6,000-square-foot Outlook Cabin, also known as the “Royal Retreat.” According to the Edmonton Journal, it’s indeed pretty much a palace, with six bedrooms, two fireplaces, a large terrace, and an enclosed conservatory and veranda. (For the ultra-curious, there’s a virtual tour of the cabin here.) According to these “sources,” the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has reportedly stocked up on “gear and goodies it doesn’t normally keep on hand” (what could this mean?!), and British and Canadian security are said to be involved to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.

TMZ points out that the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge has special significance in royal history: King George VI and the Queen Mother stayed there in 1939, and the current Queen and Prince Philip reportedly traveled there in June 2005. The resort has also welcomed celebrities like Anthony Hopkins, John Travolta, and Bill Gates.

Of course, this could be a clever way to throw us off the trail: Scobie said that if the location leaked prior to travel, the couple would be advised by their team to change plans. The royal newlyweds might have to pass on Alberta now that the news is out there, but it could also very well be a convenient distraction as they get ready for the real celebration. Early reports said that they had their hearts set on Namibia’s luxury Hoanib Valley Camp or somewhere else in Africa, where they vacationed during the early days of their relationship. Maybe that’ll still happen—but we won’t know for sure until after the honeymoon. Either way, we know it’ll be as magical as their big day.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have to Totally Replan Their Royal Honeymoon

We’re guessing that after their history-making, fairytale royal wedding, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in desperate need of jetting off to some amazing honeymoon destination—the better to bask in all of their picture-perfect happiness, obviously. But there have been a few wrinkles keeping the newlyweds from reveling in their post-wedding bliss: First, they had to postpone the honeymoon because of a required pubic engagement (ah, the challenges of being the Duke and Duchess of Sussex). And now, as royal expert and commentator Omid Scobie told Elle.com, they’ve had to change their honeymoon location for their own safety and privacy.

“If a location leaks prior to travel, it compromises their safety on the trip, and they’ll be advised by their protection team to change plans. William and Kate’s protection officers ended up doing recon on two destinations before they settled on the Seychelles for their 2011 honeymoon. I heard that just over a month before the wedding, Harry and Meghan hadn’t even booked a destination, so these plans have come together rather quickly!” Scobie told Elle.com.

Sources had revealed to Travel + Leisure that the couple would likely be heading to Namibia for their honeymoon, with reports suggesting that they might turn to the luxury Hoanib Valley Camp. But those plans seem to have been scrapped as the news traveled across media outlets—although most people think they’ll still be retreating to Africa. If you remember from their frankly adorable engagement interview, the couple shared that one of their first courting experiences included sharing a tent in Botswana: “We camped out with each other, under the stars,” Prince Harry recounted. Harry also bought one of the diamonds for Meghan’s engagement ring from the country as a sweet tribute to their time getting to know one another.

As far as any further details regarding the royal newlyweds’ destination—well, we probably won’t know the plan until after they’ve been secretly whisked away, says Scobie.

“Kensington Palace have said that the honeymoon is very much a private trip and they won’t be releasing details to the media. The couple shared so much during the wedding and now is the time for them to enjoy some privacy. They deserve it,” he said.

Agreed—but we can’t wait to hear all about the honeymoon once the happy couple returns.

There Was a Hilarious Hidden Detail at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Second Royal Wedding Reception

It’s been exactly one week since the now-Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot at their royal wedding in Windsor Chapel. And although it seemed like the entire world was watching what went down inside the church—Harry’s lip bite, Bishop Michael Curry’s epic sermon, the Kingdom Choir’s amazing “Stand By Me” rendition—the couple decided to make their evening wedding reception a highly private event for their nearest and dearest.

Guests at the reception, of which there were only around 200, were not allowed to bring their cell phones inside—understandably, details of the afterparty hosted by Prince Charles have remained pretty under wraps. But because this was undoubtedly where the real fun was had, we obviously want to know everything we can.

According to Vanity Fair, James Corden and Serena Williams allegedly played beer pong, and George Clooney, Kate Middleton, Meghan, and her mother Doria Ragland all took part in a dance-off competition. Prince William also apparently roasted his brother in his best man speech.

Now, a new detail has emerged, and it proves this couple has the best sense of humor. Meghan Markle’s close friend, Jania Gavankar, shared the hilarious way Meghan and Harry poked at their respective American and British nationalities during their reception.

According to the True Blood actress, each table at the reception at Frogmore House was named after a food that’s pronounced differently in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

“Potato, potato, tomato, tomato, oregano, oregano,” Gavankar told the magazine in a quote that doesn’t entirely translate well to print. “It was so sweet. There were so many nods to the beautiful mashup of two cultures.”

She also said the “family and chosen family” who were selected to attend the reception “danced until the wee hours. We partied and celebrated and ate sliders at 2 in the morning,” she said. “It was such a beautiful day and a carefree night, and it was a very powerful day in history. And I think everybody felt it across the world.”
