Kylie Jenner Reportedly Hosted a Handmaid's Tale-Themed Birthday Party for a Friend


To some, the novel and Hulu show The Handmaid’s Tale is a searing study of gender, power, and politics in a dystopian society. To Kylie Jenner, it’s the perfect inspiration for a birthday party theme. Wait, what?

Hollywood Life reports that Kylie Jenner celebrated a friend’s birthday (Anastasia Karanikolaou, who turned 22) by throwing her a Handmaid’s Tale-themed party. On Saturday, she and guests posted several photos from inside a gathering where they watched the show’s season three premiere dressed up like its titular handmaids in red robes.

If you’re not familiar with the source material, The Handmaid’s Tale TV series is based off of Margaret Atwood’s 1985 bestselling novel, in which women preserve the nuclear family (man marries woman; they have babies; lather, rinse, repeat) through government-mandated abuse. While the show ventures beyond the end of the novel for further seasons in its fictional nation, Gilead, it doesn’t leave out the terror its characters experience while they’re forced to conceive and carry children (among other things).

This party made Gilead look less futuristic hellscape and more Bachelorette rose ceremony: Guests entered the party through an entryway lined with curtains. They were greeted by staff dressed in servants’ uniforms and repeating an oft-quoted phrase from the show: “Praise be.” Inside the party, each guest received a red handmaid’s robe, a white bonnet, and roses. Red roses also decorated the dinner table, and there were also floor-to-ceiling posters bearing Gilead’s insignia.

Selena Gomez Just Threw Her Friend an Incredible Birthday Party


It’s fair to say that Selena Gomez has this whole party-planning thing on lock: Earlier this year, in January, she threw her best friend a gorgeous bridal shower—and let’s not forget the amazing party she threw herself last year that she invited her best friends to, complete with pasta and a yacht (what more do you need, truly?). What the best part is, though, isn’t the all-out affairs, but the fact that no matter how famous she gets, she always comes back to celebrate her best friends’ milestones. And now, she’s gone and thrown another friend a birthday celebration to remember, judging by the pictures alone. Honestly, it’s enough to make us wish we were there.

The lucky birthday girl? Raquelle Stevens, who’s been friends with Gomez for seven years. Luckily, she and plenty of the other party invitees captured the festivities—and the next best thing to attending, of course, is being able to see what went down.

It’s nice to see that Gomez, as busy as she is, still carves out this time for her best friends—and although the singer isn’t currently on social media (she’s taking a little time off of it), it’s pretty great that we’ve still be able to get a little sneak peek of all the fun she’s been able to have. In the meantime, we’re thinking that maybe Gomez should seriously start considering a party-planning business?

Fans Think Adele Threw Jennifer Lawrence a Bachelorette Party, and It Looked So Fun


Prepare to get very jealous of all the people who happened to be having a fun Friday night out at a certain bar New York City—because their nights went next level, thanks to the arrival of Jennifer Lawrence and Adele. Cannot. Imagine.

But, according to multiple fan accounts, that’s exactly what happened last night (March 22) at Pieces, a gay bar in Greenwich Village. People are speculating that it might have been a bachelorette party to celebrate Lawrence’s recent engagement to Cooke Maroney. If ever there were a textbook case of FOMO, this is it. One person at the bar had all of our reactions (had, you know, we been there): “I’M AT PIECES AND ADELE AND JENNIFER LAWRENCE ARE HERE LMFAOO.”

Apparently, the duo (who famously hung out a while back with Emma Stone) were at the bar with a group of friends when Adele and Lawrence were called on stage by the evening’s emcee, drag queen Brita Filter. When asked what she does for a living, Adele joked that she’s “currently a stay-at-home mum.”

Another video shows Lawrence teasing Adele for losing a drinking game—and then, when the actress is asked to play, Adele teases, “She’s fucking engaged; she’s not even relevant to be here.” Lawrence proceeds to clap back with, “That has nothing to do with my drinking ability.”

“Randomly getting turnt with JeLaw and Adele. NBD,” another Pieces patron tweeted. “JENNIFER LAWRENCE AND ADELE WENT THERE TOGETHER, UGH FRIENDSHIP GOALS,” wrote another.

Even if it wasn’t a bachelorette party, it seems like Adele and Lawrence had a pretty incredible girls’ night out—we’ll just assume our invite got stuck in the spam folder.

The Weeknd and Bella Hadid Wore Matching Camo Outfits to His Birthday Party


Couples that dress alike definitely give off a certain “truly committed” vibe—both to each other and to their looks. Case in point, this roundup of celebrity twosomes who are known for doing just that. Now, our files have just grown by one more entry: Bella Hadid and Abel Tesfaye, a.k.a. The Weeknd, wore virtually the same outfit for his recent birthday party, and it’s a whole thing.

A little background: Hadid and The Weeknd have been in an on-and-off relationship since 2015. After sharing a post-breakup moment on the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway in November 2016, the couple were seen kissing at Coachella in April a few months later. They seem to have been together since and now reportedly share a $60,000-per-month Tribeca apartment.

If we’ve learned anything about them during this dating rollercoaster, it’s that they’re way into celebrating each other’s birthdays. Last October Hadid and the Weeknd were seen out and about on her 22nd birthday in New York City drinking Champagne, eating macarons at Ladurée in Soho, and dancing the night away at a surprise party.

Following precedent, Hadid pulled out all the stops for the Starboy singer’s 29th birthday last night. After the model gifted him a framed Michael Jackson-themed Mad Magazine cover, they took to the club in matching camouflage outfits.

“[One] minute til my favorite day of the year,” Hadid wrote underneath a photo of her and The Weeknd posing in their similar sets.

The Weeknd chose a camo zip-up jacket and pants with R13’s men stack boot, while Hadid opted for a camo bralette and oversized R13 shearling jacket paired with an olive green skirt, sheer Prada socks, and Timberland-style heels.

The singer, who’s been teasing a fourth album, also showed off the outfits on his ‘gram.

Brad Pitt Showed Up to Jennifer Aniston's 50th Birthday Party, and Twitter Freaked Out


If there’s anyone who deserves to throw a hell of a 50th birthday party, it’s Jennifer Aniston: She’s a huge star, defined cool American style—and she’s put up with years of straight-up rude headlines, whether they were Brangelina adjacent or asking once again when she’d have kids (she’s happily child-free). Aniston, of course, also happened to be married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005, and it’s something people kind of can’t let go of. Two years after Brangelina split in 2016, Aniston broke up with husband Justin Theroux last February, which has sparked all sorts of “rekindling the romance” headlines. All this to say, she puts up with a lot as she lives her life—and nothing says “50 will be my best year yet” like a headline-making West Hollywood hotel rager.

It was reportedly an actual who’s who of a guest list: George and Amal Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Demi Moore, Barbra Streisand, Jon Hamm, Laura Dern, Charlie Day, Orlando Bloom, Tom Ford, Diane Keaton, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Reese Witherspoon—basically everyone you’d want to invite to your iconic milestone celebration. I mean, everyone in Hollywood turned out. What we might not have expected, though, is that Brad would show up to it.

Pictures exist of Jen wearing a black jumpsuit (gotta love a good party jumpsuit), while Brad was reportedly doing his usual newsboy cap and long hair thing. Here’s what else we know, which is not much: According to W, “He arrived in a black SUV and was dropped off at the front door of the hotel. Literally nothing else has been made public.”

Speaking as someone who’s happily, platonically friends—super-close friends, even—with her ex, it is entirely possible that two people who once dated can still see each other as people at the end of all of it and hang out. After all, hopefully you were dating them in part because they were a good, fun person. I personally think it’s very nice that he showed up!

Kylie Jenner Basically Built a Theme Park for Stormi's First Birthday Party


Kylie Jenner celebrated her daughter Stormi Webster’s first birthday over the weekend—and in true Kardashian style, she threw her 1-year-old the most lavish bash ever. As in, she basically built Stormi a theme park.

If you thought Kim Kardashian’s Alice in Wonderland-theme party for baby Chicago West was extravagant, this “Stormi World” celebration might take the (birthday) cake. After delaying the party for a week due to rainy weather conditions, Jenner and her boyfriend, Travis Scott, pulled out all the stops by designing an actual theme park for little Stormi’s first birthday party.

Guests entered Stormi World through an inflatable version of Stormi’s face—suspiciously similar to her dad’s Astroworld album cover—to find rides, hot air balloons, a butterfly rainbow forest, a wall of giant teddy bears, and a gift shop that sold exclusive Stormi World merch.

Kylie gave fans a tour by sharing a whole bunch of videos on her Instagram Stories—and it’s really something.
