Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney's Wedding: Everything We Know So Far

Wedding bells are ringing this weekend for Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney, her art gallerist fiancé.

Lawrence and Maroney have had a pretty private relationship. Page Six broke the news that they had begun dating in June 2018. An unnamed source said that “the relationship has been going on a few weeks, but they have been very private and careful not to be seen together.” The couple occasionally was spotted together on dates until February 2019, when Lawrence’s rep confirmed to People that Lawrence and Maroney had gotten engaged.

On the other side of her engagement, Lawrence has shared small details about her relationship with Maroney and their future plans. In a June interview with Entertainment Tonight, she described Maroney as “just the best person I’ve ever met in my whole life.” Accepting his proposal was “a very, very easy decision,” she said.

“He’s my best friend, so I wanted to legally bind myself to him forever,” Lawrence said in another June interview on Cat Sadler’s podcast, Naked With Cat Sadler. “And fortunately, the paperwork exists for such a thing. It’s the greatest.”

In the same interview, Lawrence added that planning for her upcoming nuptials has been a fairly laid-back process. “I haven’t been neurotic about it. I’m too lazy to be neurotic. I like saw a dress I liked. I said, ‘Oh, that’s the dress.’ I saw a venue, and I was like, ‘Cool, we got the venue.'”

Wedding celebrations started long before the official ceremony. Lawrence and Maroney hosted an engagement party in May.

Here’s everything we know about Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney’s wedding plans so far.

The date. The couple touched down in Rhode Island on Friday, October 18. The ceremony is reportedly taking place on Saturday, October 19.

The location. Lawrence and Maroney will exchange vows at the Belcourt of Newport, a luxurious estate housed on an island off of Newport, Rhode Island. The chateau has a storied history: Designed in 1894, it was inspired by King Louis XIII’s Versailles, France hunting lodge. It’s currently home to Alex & Ani CEO Carolyn Rafaelian.

The guest list. People reports that around 150 guests are expected to attend this weekend’s wedding. Arrivals ahead of Friday’s rehearsal dinner included Lawrence’s longtime friends Adele and Kris Jenner. Reported guests also include Bradley Cooper, Nicole Richie, and Joel Madden.

Glamour Digital Cover: Meet Iskra Lawrence & 4 More Plus-Size Super Models

I was 25 years old when I saw Vogue Italia’s June 2011 issue. On its cover: Candice Huffine, Robyn Lawley, and Tara Lynn—three of the top plus-size models at the time—wearing black lingerie. Inside the magazine: the boudoir-style photoshoot, where model Marquita Pring was also featured. The brazen sexuality was palpable. In all my years of reading mainstream women’s magazines, I’d never seen anything like it. Four unapologetically curvy women were on the pages of Vogue, shot by Steven Meisel—the same photographer to work with Madonna, Linda Evangelista, and Kate Moss. That Meisel cover felt like an exclusive party that my size-16 self might actually get invited to.

Growing up, I was always in love with fashion yet was always made painfully aware that I didn’t have the right “look” for it. This was implied by omission. Yes, I’d seen plus-size women in ads for matronly stores at the mall or as a punchline in movies, but I’d never seen them anywhere particularly inspiring. When visibility did exist in fashion, I felt it was for provocation, like Crystal Renn’s headline-getting appearance on Jean Paul Gaultier’s 2005 runway or Karl Lagerfeld’s seemingly convenient 2009 love affair with The Gossip’s plus-size front woman Beth Ditto. The same Karl Lagerfeld who, that same year, said, “No one wants to see curvy women” on the catwalk.

From left to right: On Iskra, Mara Hoffman dress; On Seynabou, Pleats Please by Issey Miyake dress; On Alessandra, Kalita maxi dress; On Solange, Zero Maria Cornejo dress; On Yvonne, Cushnie dress; All models are wearing Rebecca de Ravenel earrings.

Eight years later, I’ve seen progress: Ashley Graham on the cover of Vogue in 2017, a whopping 208 curve appearances clocked during the spring 2018 New York Fashion Week shows, and Lizzo becoming a bonafide style star, to name a few examples. But this progress was particularly visible when I walked on the set of a Glamour shoot and saw five remarkably striking curvy models getting ready to appear on the cover wearing the same designer clothes any other model would wear. No lingerie, no swimsuits, no shock value.

Seynabou Cissé, Iskra Lawrence, Alessandra Garcia Lorido, Yvonne Simone, and Solange van Doorn are powerful, ambitious, and of course, beautiful. But unlike the group that inspired the original supermodel phenomenon of the 1980s and 90s, the new crop are all a size 12 and above. They represent Senegal, England, and the Oneida Nation. They’re immigrants and mixed race. They’re accidental activists and eating-disorder-awareness advocates. They have professional backgrounds in tech and health sciences. Together they’re ascending not just as curve models, but as supermodels for a new age. The New Supers, if you will.

Jennifer Lawrence Just Opened Up About Her Engagement For the First Time

In February, news broke that Jennifer Lawrence and her boyfriend, art gallerist Cooke Maroney, were engaged. The only proof of this fans received at the time was a blurry photo of Lawrence wearing a ring on that finger. But now we have a soundbite confirming the happy news.

Lawrence gave a brief interview to Entertainment Tonight about the engagement this week at the Los Angeles premiere of Dark Phoenix. “Well, he’s just the best person I’ve ever met in my whole life,” Lawrence said about Maroney. “It was a very, very easy decision.”

Watch her explain this for yourself in the video, below:

This will probably be the only quote we get about Jennifer Lawrence and Cooke Maroney’s engagement for a while. The Red Sparrow actress has historically been quite tight-lipped about her personal life. According to Page Six, though, Lawrence was first spotted wearing her ring back in February at a dinner in New York City. “They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about [the engagement],” a source told the publication. “The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner. She was wearing a cute black dress with white polka dots.”

The couple first started dating back in June 2018. Before this, Lawrence was in a brief relationship with her Mother! director Darren Aronofsky. Prior to that, she dated actor Nicholas Hoult from 2011 to 2014. Lawrence spoke about the latter relationship four years ago in an interview with Diane Sawyer, contextualizing it with the Hunger Games franchise ending.

“These movies had been my life for so long, and they had to come first in everything,” she said. “I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years and that was my life. So my life was this person and these movies, and we broke up around the same time that I wrapped those movies. Being 24 was this whole year of ‘Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?’”

No word yet on Maroney and Lawrence’s wedding date, but we’ll keep you posted.

Fans Think Adele Threw Jennifer Lawrence a Bachelorette Party, and It Looked So Fun

Prepare to get very jealous of all the people who happened to be having a fun Friday night out at a certain bar New York City—because their nights went next level, thanks to the arrival of Jennifer Lawrence and Adele. Cannot. Imagine.

But, according to multiple fan accounts, that’s exactly what happened last night (March 22) at Pieces, a gay bar in Greenwich Village. People are speculating that it might have been a bachelorette party to celebrate Lawrence’s recent engagement to Cooke Maroney. If ever there were a textbook case of FOMO, this is it. One person at the bar had all of our reactions (had, you know, we been there): “I’M AT PIECES AND ADELE AND JENNIFER LAWRENCE ARE HERE LMFAOO.”

Apparently, the duo (who famously hung out a while back with Emma Stone) were at the bar with a group of friends when Adele and Lawrence were called on stage by the evening’s emcee, drag queen Brita Filter. When asked what she does for a living, Adele joked that she’s “currently a stay-at-home mum.”

See for yourself below:

Another video shows Lawrence teasing Adele for losing a drinking game—and then, when the actress is asked to play, Adele teases, “She’s fucking engaged; she’s not even relevant to be here.” Lawrence proceeds to clap back with, “That has nothing to do with my drinking ability.”

“Randomly getting turnt with JeLaw and Adele. NBD,” another Pieces patron tweeted. “JENNIFER LAWRENCE AND ADELE WENT THERE TOGETHER, UGH FRIENDSHIP GOALS,” wrote another.

Even if it wasn’t a bachelorette party, it seems like Adele and Lawrence had a pretty incredible girls’ night out—we’ll just assume our invite got stuck in the spam folder.

Jennifer Lawrence Is Engaged to Boyfriend Cooke Maroney

Jennifer Lawrence is engaged to boyfriend Cooke Maroney, a rep for the actress confirms to People magazine.

Not much is known at this time about the couple’s engagement. According to Page Six , Lawrence was spotted wearing a “massive ring” while at dinner recently with Maroney in New York City. “It was a giant rock,” a source tells Page Six. “They seemed like they were celebrating and people were talking about it. The ring was very noticeable. They were sitting back in a corner. She was wearing a cute black dress with white polka dots.”

Lawrence and Maroney started dating in June 2018 and have been spotted on several dates in New York City, Paris, and Rome. The actress hasn’t said much publicly about the relationship, but she’s never been one to divulge too much about her personal life. Before Maroney, Lawrence briefly dated her mother! director Darren Aronofsky, and from 2011 to 2014 she was in a relationship with actor Nicholas Hoult. In a rare move, she opened up to Diane Sawyer about breaking up with Hoult, contextualizing it with the end of the Hunger Games films.

“These movies had been my life for so long and they had to come first in everything,” she said. “I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years and that was my life. So my life was this person and these movies and we broke up around the same time that I wrapped those movies. Being 24 was this whole year of ‘Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?’”

In February 2018, Jennifer Lawrence said she was taking a year off from acting to focus on activism. “I’m going to take the next year off,” she said, according to EW. “I’m going to be working with this organization as a part of Represent.Us … trying to get young people engaged politically on a local level.”

Congrats to Lawrence and Maroney!

Emma Stone Canceled Plans on Jennifer Lawrence and Left Her With Half a Face of Makeup

Make some room in your heart, because Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence’s friendship is going to need the space. Last week brought us the pair’s delightful joint interview with W, where they discussed memories like their pet turtles and a shared stalker (believe it or not, much funnier than it sounds). The only downside is that it took until now for the two to get on screen together, especially when you see the dynamic we’ve been missing out on. But on the upside, they just gave fans an inside look at the their Golden Globes night. As expected, it’s gold.

According to a video Lawrence posted on Facebook, the two were supposed to meet up after the ceremony to go to some after parties together. As celebrities do, Lawrence called in a glam squad to prep her look for the night—so when Stone texted that she’d rather just hang out at home instead, as good friends do, Lawrence rolled with the change of plans.

That meant stopping everything and sending her squad home for the night, and that meant the Internet got an fantastic video of Lawrence wearing exactly one-half of a full-on look.

“What happened tonight?” Stone asks Lawrence, who’s shown in profile. “Well. You had told me you wanted me to be your date to the after parties, so I got us tickets to some after parties, and booked a car, and was halfway through glam when you told me told me that you didn’t want to go,” Lawrence slowly says, turning towards the camera. “That you just wanted to come over to my house, so I sent my hair and makeup team home. And now this is what I look like.” She stares at the camera with one pitch-black smoky eye. The woman knows drama, and that is some impeccable comedic timing.
