Grammys 2020 Red Carpet: All the Fashion, Outfits, and Dress You Need to See

The Grammys 2020 red carpet is here—but doesn’t it feel like this year’s awards season has been operating at a breakneck pace? So far we’ve already seen a full lineup of stars show up and show out for the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice, and SAG Awards, and the momentum continues with the Grammys’ best dressed.

Music’s biggest night happened on Sunday, January 26, and all your favorites were there: Lizzo, Billie Eilish, the list goes on and on. And, of course, you know they killed it on the red carpet. The Grammys are always a bit more fun than other shows when it comes to fashion. Celebrities tend to be a bit more experimental than they would at say, the Oscars, and this year is no exception. While nothing will probably ever top Lady Gaga’s egg/vessel from 2011, there were some interesting looks on the Grammys 2020 red carpet. So let’s go through them, shall we?

Below, all the looks you need to see from the Grammys 2020 red carpet.

Amanda Seales Talks Fashion, Shopping, and Performance Outfits

Every single character on HBO’s Insecure is a joy to watch, but none quite as much, for me, as Tiffany DuBois. As one article put it, Tiffany “is the friend with more of her proverbial ‘shit’ together, and thinks that the petty drama that her friends deal with on a daily basis is a little beneath her. She’s annoying and pretentious, but she keeps her crew well-rounded.” She’s also obviously very funny, thanks to comedian Amanda Seales, who plays her.

I was looking forward to meeting Seales because I’m always curious about how the world’s busiest women dress—and she is definitely busy. In addition to shooting Insecure, the 38-year-old regularly performs stand-up, is the host of NBC’s Bring the Funny, has a weekly podcast, leverages her almost one million Instagram followers to educate on causes she feels strongly about, and lectures across college campuses. Now, Seales can add “author” to her list of jobs. Her book of essays and life advice, Small Doses: Potent Truths for Everyday Use, was released in October.

For our episode, Seales wanted to talk about what she wore when she first got onstage as a comic—silver and black sequined leggings and a plain top—and how that’s become her uniform while performing. The conversation around dressing as a female comedian is endlessly compelling to me—Seales says that when she was starting out, her goal was to avoid wearing anything she felt would start a conversation about the way she looked instead of her jokes. “I decided, you know what, I’m going to make the thing I wear leggings that are fun,” she says. “The theory being I want to be able to still show my shape because I like my shape and I feel like it’s a part of my version of femininity, but yet not wear something that I feel is going to be more of a conversation about aesthetics.”

The leggings she wears—often with elaborate prints like classic rap albums and ninjas riding unicorns—have become a signature, and Seales says that people regularly ask about where she gets them. “But they don’t know that this really just started as me trying to find a way to find a middle ground. I don’t know any guys that, before they go onstage, are thinking about, Do I wear the suit? Do I wear the zip-up hoodie? This polo collar might send the wrong idea.”

When I ask Seales where she gets her leggings, she is savvy: “I’m not going to say the site because they don’t pay me any money to say it.”

Seales and I also talk about fast fashion—she came in wearing a great acid green turtleneck from Zara and a puffy wrap coat from ASOS—but about luxury purchases too, including the neon pair of YSL stilettos she brought with her to our recording, the Rolex that she bought herself, which, she admits, she probably doesn’t really need, and the first pair of Gucci shoes she purchased when she realized she had income that could be considered disposable. We also discuss her mother’s cooking, having impressive vocabularies, and the concept of real friends in today’s debatably authentic Instagram age.

Enjoy the episode!

5 Black Jeans Outfits: What To Wear For Every Style | Glamour

A faded pair of baby blue jeans gets all the credit (and Instagram love), but a black jeans outfit is just as reliable—and easy to put together. Take any outfit you’d wear with your favorite vintage denim and simply swap out the bottoms. Black jeans look just as sleek with a classic leather jacket as they do with louder trends of the moment, like tie-dye, cowboy boots and neon. This fall, it’s time to think beyond the plain white T-shirt and imagine all the ways you can wear this underrated denim style. Consider these five perfect outfits a start.

Everyone Is Obsessed with Shiv Roy’s Outfits from the ‘Succession’ Finale

There are many things that will be missed now that HBO’s Succession has wrapped up its masterful second season: super-rich people telling each other to “fuck off,” the shenanigans of Tom and Cousin Greg(ory), Roman and Gerri’s interesting dynamic, Kendall’s sad eyes. But I’ll especially miss Shiv’s phenomenal fashion.

The only daughter in the Roy clan had a serious sartorial glow-up in season two, and the Internet loved every second—to the point that there will surely be an uptick in turtleneck and high-waist pants this fall. (See our ranking of her best outfits here.) Coupled with a perfect bob haircut and a renewed desire to get back into the family business, Shiv was all about power moves this season. And as the family took to their massive yacht in the finale, Shiv’s vacation outfits did not disappoint.

If you thought Shiv would abandon her signature style just because she was headed to warmer climates, you’d be very wrong. My personal favorite was the creamy white high-waist number that was such perfect “rich lady on a gazillion-dollar ship.” Or maybe the blue halter look.

She also worked in some floral prints and a large sun hat. “Shiv Roy in boat clothes! #Succession,” one fan tweeted.

Social media was very much here for all of her outfits, really. “Shiv’s white outfit, I need it. #SuccessionHBO,” one person wrote. “Every outfit Shiv wears, I want it. I want the entire LOOK! Sarah is BAD!!!!!!! #SuccessionHBO,” another said. This tweet sums up the general sentiment: “Fuuuuuuck, the Succession finale was so good. Also I want every one of Shiv’s outfits in this episode, her styling was fantastic.”

Sidebar: Her character’s reading Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends was perfection too.

I cannot wait to see what the styling team brings for Shiv in season three with yet another shift in the family dynamics after that finale—but I’m fairly certain I’m going to love it.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Wore the Chicest Outfits to the Wimbledon Women's Final

One year after their first solo outing as sisters-in-law, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton attended their annual friend date at Wimbledon on Saturday, July 13. And just like last year’s tennis final, the two royals wore excellent outfits for the occasion.

Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate joined the crowd of spectators at the Wimbledon Single Ladies’ Final at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London today, to watch Markle’s pal Serena Williams face off against Germany’s Angelique Kerber from the royal box. Middleton chose a green sheath dress with puff sleeves and gold buttons, and Markle wore a white button-down tucked into an accordion skirt.

While the duchesses watched the match, their fans tracked down the designers behind their outfits. Middleton’s dress was by Dolce & Gabbana, and although Markle’s top hasn’t been ID’d yet, her look includes a Hugo Boss skirt with navy brushstrokes. Her skirt retails for $375 and is still available online, but only in a few sizes.
