Only Ramona Singer Can Make Quarantine With an Ex-Husband Sound Fun

Ten minutes into my call with Ramona Singer, she wants to hop on FaceTime. “Want me to show you my refrigerator?” she asks in complete sincerity after I ask what she, her daughter Avery, and ex-husband Mario are snacking on while self-isolating in Florida. But fans of The Real Housewives of New York City shouldn’t be surprised by Singer’s openness here—she’s been putting it all out there since 2008, when the Bravo show began and catapulted her to reality TV stardom. That’s since morphed into full-fledged stardom—”reality” caveat not necessary—because these days people consume the Housewives and HBO prestige dramas with equal, unapologetic fervor.

RHONY has endured as long as it has because the show is more than just a Pinot Grigio-soaked romp of Manhattan’s matriarchal glitterati. It offers unflinching—and, at times, uncomfortable—insight into what so many women deal with. Infertility, infidelity, tumultuous friendships, divorce: It’s all represented on RHONY. The stakes on TV are higher and more glossy than real life, sure, but the emotional core is always there.

As is Ramona Singer. She’s the only woman in RHONY history to be a main cast member for all 12 seasons. The latest begins tonight, April 2, and her signature, take it-or-leave-it honesty is on display like never before. We see that immediately in episode one, when she expresses very real fears about never finding a partner.

I saw this honesty throughout our conversation too, where no topic was off-limits. Truly. She dished on everything: Dorinda Medley, who seems to be the source of major drama this season; Bethenny Frankel, who isn’t returning for season 12, something Singer says is for the best; and Mario, her ex-husband, who she’s on good terms with now but was understandably not for a few years. How did she end up quarantined with him, you ask? Find out the answer to that and much more in our full, very candid chat, below.

Glamour: In the season premiere, you have an emotional conversation in which you talk about how you’re afraid of being alone. What happened there?

Ramona Singer: Well, not feeling alone, because I’m never alone. I’m very social. I had this fear that I won’t find a partner who would be compatible for me. Dating is easy for me. I could be in a relationship. But I don’t want a relationship. I want the relationship. All of a sudden I was feeling, “Will I ever find that again?”

Can you talk to me a little bit about why you think that conversation bubbled up when it did?

I was hiding from going into my new apartment. I was avoiding it. I sold my apartment in June, and here it was now September, and I only spent five nights in my new apartment. The reality of moving into my new apartment was like, “Oh my God, I am single, I am divorced, I am on my own.” I believe staying in my existing family apartment cocooned me and isolated me from facing, “You know what, I’m on my own. I’m a single. I’m an empty-nester with no partner.”

What’s your story arc like this season? Does it build on that conversation you had in the first episode?

Basically you’re going to see me on my journey of [being an empty-nester], what I’m going through, and what I do to try to make it better. You’ll have to see if I come out the end feeling better or not. Everyone can relate to that. At that point, I felt lost and had no direction. Every viewer is going to relate, because when something major happens in your life—you lose your job, you lose a husband or a sister or brother—it shakes you to your core. You’re like, “Oh my God, what does it mean with everything? Where do I go from here?” I think it was just a huge wake-up call for me. I had a breakdown, to tell you the truth. I had a breakdown. I always have a direction. I always have a purpose. I always have a plan. All of a sudden, I felt lost.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas's Quarantine Life Sounds More Fun Than an Actual Party

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are doing the right thing at the moment and staying home amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. But that doesn’t mean they’re not having loads of fun.

Turner joined Conan O’Brien on his late night show (virtually, natch) and let the world in on what life is like at the Turner-Jonas household. Turner, for one, is “kind of loving” being at home all day. “I’m an introvert, I’m a homebody,” she said. “If I could stay at home all day I would, so this is great for me. I leave my house like once a day to walk my dogs, and then that’s it.”

While she realizes it might be harder for some people to practice social distancing she said, “All you have to do is stay at home and get drunk at home.” When O’Brien replied that he hadn’t heard Dr. Anthony Fauci recommend that path during his press briefings, Turner joked, “Yeah, but you know he’s thinking it. You know he’s doing the same thing.”

She also showed off her sweatpants, paired with a lovely green sweater—a stark change from how stars usually dress for their talk show appearances. “I’m business on top, party on the bottom,” she said.

But what really sounds fun is the club Turner and Jonas seem to be running from their home. Turner says her husband has taken up performing DJ sets filled with 80s music, and she serves as the bartender. “He’s started doing that really, really loudly when I’m trying to read my scripts. He’s DJing at home,” Turner said. “But it’s fun! I pour him his drinks. I pour him his alcohol. I give him tequila shots. He’ll text me and be like, ‘What time is it?’ I’ll reply from the kitchen, ‘Shot time,’ and bring him a shot of tequila.”

“There’s no rules in quarantine,” she added. “It’s fun.”

We love the sound of that motto, as long as it’s all going down in a socially distanced and safe way.

The Women Who Run Comments by Celebs Are About to Make Awards Season So Much Fun

Emma: No, it’s, it’s all us. The only thing that someone else does is we hired someone to run the athlete’s account.

For awards season specifically, how might your day differ?

Emma: We’re just a little more tuned into specific people, meaning specific celebrities. So, if there’s someone that we know may be posting something that will kind of gain a lot of traction from other celebrities, we will maybe focus a little more on that.

Julie Kramer: For example, if someone’s nominated for something and we know that they’re going to be posting about it or if we think they’re going to be posting about it, we’re constantly refreshing.

Is there anyone this season in particular that you’re going to be looking out for, paying closer attention to?

Emma: Good question. I don’t know. Anybody who’s kind of, like, the next sensation or someone that the Internet’s very focused on.

Just in general, is there anyone who’s not on social or not maybe very active that you would love to see increase their presence?

Emma: We would love to see Jennifer Lawrence on Instagram. I think she would be unbelievable. Both content and comment-wise.

Julie: Especially around award season too.

Emma: She’s for sure our number one. We kind of also always fantasized about the idea of Jennifer Aniston joining just so that we could see the contrast between her and Courteney Cox because Courteney Cox is honestly excellent on social. So when she came on Instagram, which was really recently actually, she kind of just took off. So yeah, we always love to think of the idea of if Jen were to come on, how that would kind of play itself out.

Are there any celebrities or comments that you don’t cover or sort of is off the table for you?

Ashley Graham's Unconventional Baby Shower Looked Like So Much Fun

Ashley Graham and her friends certainly know how to throw a baby shower. But this party was no typical pre-baby celebration where guests guess the newborn’s weight and due date or wrap the mom-to-be’s pregnant belly with toilet paper.

No, this shower was totally unconventional, serving up what was surely one of the wildest parties of the year. Fans got a look inside the party thanks to social media posts by some of the supermodel’s friends. Derek Blasberg shared a series of videos showing guests enjoying stations with manicures, piercings, and even tattoos—real ones. And Graham’s friend and doula Latham Thomas posted more details about the night’s activities.

“This shower was so ? @kissthedeejay was on the 1s and 2s, you could get tattoos, ear piercings and decorate baby onesies that are being donated to families in need,” Thomas wrote on Instagram. “I was too chicken to get a tat or another ear piercing ?@Fridamom made a custom labor and delivery kit for Ashley – so adorable!!!!”

There were a few traditional touches, as well, including “It’s a mom!” signs, cupcakes, and candy, according to People.

In another video posted by Thomas, Graham gave a toast saying the party was “bigger than our wedding” and “like Christmas.” “If you haven’t gotten your ears pierced or a tattoo, you have to do that. There’s so much food, there’s a big cake that’s bigger than the one at our wedding,” she added.

Graham appeared to have a great time, posing for pictures with guests, including her baby’s two grandmothers.

And, of course, there was dancing, with Graham showing off that’s she’s definitely still got moves.

“Thank you all so much. We can’t raise this baby boy without all of you, you’re our community,” Graham told guests. And we would like to thank Graham for proving that baby showers need not be boring at all.

Sophie Turner Had More Fun Than Anyone at the 2019 MTV VMAs

Sophie Turner may have skipped walking the red carpet with husband Joe Jonas at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have a very good time.

Let’s start with the actor’s own personal highlights, which she posted to Instagram writing, “OMG CONGRATULATIONS @joejonas @nickjonas @kevinjonas ? here are a few of my favorite moments from tonight! #THATSTHETEA #Lizzoisqueen.” (The Jonas Brothers won their very first VMA ever in the Best Pop category.)

In her post, Turner included a shot of her husband, an iconic photo with USWNT soccer star Alex Morgan recreating her famous tea-sipping moment from the World Cup, and a moment with Lizzo. “That’s the mthrfucking tea ?,” Morgan commented.

Basically, she’s living out our own VMA fantasy.

The cameras caught Turner having even more amazing moments throughout the night, like when she turned Joe Jonas into an Instagram husband and made him take photos of her and Lizzo.

The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Is Having More Fun Than All of Us Right Now

On Sunday (July 7), the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team defeated the Netherlands to win a record fourth World Cup—and they haven’t stopped celebrating since.

Nor should they. It’s a phenomenal accomplishment, and most of the country is still on a high right alongside the players, including Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, and Rose Levelle, who scored the second goal to secure the U.S. victory in the finals.

While most of us will not get a chance to party with these women IRL, we can all live vicariously through their social media profiles. Ashlyn Harris has been the absolute MVP in documenting the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team shenanigans—her Instagram Stories are an utter delight. Do yourself a huge favor and take a look at all the action from last night’s yacht party and today’s parade in New York City.

Here are just a few of the highlights:
