Billie Eilish Showed Off Her Body on Tour for an Important Reason

Billie Eilish’s oversized clothing has become one of her staples, and she’s said multiple times there’s a reason behind it. “I never want the world to know everything about me,” she explained in a 2019 Calvin Klein campaign. “I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes: Nobody can have an opinion, because they haven’t seen what’s underneath.” In a June 2019 interview with Vogue Australia, she said her style “gives nobody the opportunity to judge what [her] body looks like.”

But in a video interlude for her Where Do We Go? World Tour, which kicked off March 9 in Miami, the pop star addressed exactly that: the idea of people judging her—or anyone’s—body. In the clip, Eilish is seen slowly undressing as she gives a powerful message about body-shaming. Per BuzzFeed, fans who attended the show say this was Eilish’s full speech:

“You have opinions about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body. Some people hate what I wear. Some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others. Some people use it to shame me. But I feel you watching, always, and nothing I do goes unseen. So while I feel your stares, your disapproval, or your sigh of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move.

Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?

If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why? You make assumptions about people based on their size. We decide what they’re worth. If I wear more, who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?”

Watch a (somewhat shaky) fan video of the interlude—courtesy of the Twitter account Eilish Tour News—for yourself, below:

Fans flooded to Twitter to praise Billie Eilish for taking a stand against body-shaming. “Billie is using her tour as a platform to send a positive statement to her fans by using an interlude about how people’s opinions on her body aren’t her responsibility is so powerful,” one fan tweeted. “I love this women so much.”

See, below, just a few reactions from fans:

Eilish hasn’t commented on the response to the interlude yet, but stay tuned.

Demi Burnett Showed One of the Hardest Parts About Coming Out on Bachelor in Paradise

Coming out as queer in your twenties is tough. I should know. Once those traditional gender dynamics are finally broken down, you then suffer through a growth period of learning what it’s like to date the same sex. It’s rare to see that time navigated in pop-culture, let alone on a reality show, but we actually got to see it play out on last night’s episode of Bachelor in Paradise.

It all started when Demi Burnett broke down crying on-camera over her struggles to show PDA with her girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty. “I’m getting there,” Burnett says of showing public affection with Haggerty. “I’m getting comfortable with it, but it’s taking me some time, and like, I feel so guilty because I feel bad for it taking time.” Earlier in the season, Burnett came out as queer on the show and invited the woman she fell in love with back home, Haggerty, to join her in paradise. Since then, the couple have become Bachelor Nation’s first same-sex couple featured on the show.

But, of course, any sort of “first” is ripe with teaching moments. Last night, Burnett expressed that she’s having some growing pains with her queerness. For one: She said she’s worried about Haggerty flirting with other women on the show. “Kristian is just flirty with girls, and it sucks,” Burnett says on-camera. “I hate seeing it! I feel like she’s more interested in them than me. It’s just getting to me. Like, I can’t… I can’t watch it. I don’t want to see that.”

But as Burnett unpacks the issue in her confessional interview, we uncover the real reason her girlfriend’s behavior was bothering her. “I don’t know if maybe she’s lacking physical touch from me, and so she’s going to get it from somewhere else, but I don’t think that that’s fair,” Burnett says. “It has everything to do with me not being comfortable with being gay around people.”

That’s when she breaks down. “I want to give her what she needs, but like, I’m still uncomfortable with it, because I don’t want people to be like, ‘That’s weird.’ And I don’t want people to like, stare and be like, ‘Oh my god, they’re kissing.'”

Sophie Turner Showed Off Her New Wedding Ring, and I Can't Get Over the Sparkle

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ second wedding has been everywhere for the past week, which we’re not mad about. And honestly, it’s like all of us were there: We’ve heard all the details about her incredible Louis Vuitton wedding dress, which took more than 350 hours to make; the wedding itself; and the lineup for the week of parties in Paris and Provence before they tied the knot again last Saturday (June 30). One thing we haven’t gotten the clearest look at, though, is her wedding ring.

Back at their first wedding in May, when Turner and Jonas headed to Las Vegas after the Billboard Awards and got married by an Elvis impersonator, they exchanged ring pops in place of your standard diamond wedding rings. But, knowing that they considered their second wedding in France their more formal ceremony, it seemed like the first glimpse we had of any bling would come after this ceremony. And indeed, it has.

On Friday, Turner hit back at critics of U.S. National Women’s Soccer Team player Alex Morgan, who said that her celebratory “tea-sipping moment” after scoring a goal in the World Cup semifinals against England was disrespectful (yes, this is related). Turner’s address to Morgan was pretty great—excerpt: “And all those people that are hating on you are probably sitting at home, millennials drinking kombucha…”— but that wasn’t all that caught eagle-eyed fans’ attention. Instead, there was a pretty big sparkle in the bottom half of the screen that was distracting them.

Let’s set the scene: This is her engagement ring. It’s also massive and sparkly.

The wedding band was clearly designed to match the rest of it (peek at the bottom of the ring), and put together, I’ve never seen a sparklier ring in my life. It appears many times in the Instagram Story she posted below:

Here’s a closeup—incredible, right?

Halsey Showed Off Unshaven Armpits on the Cover of 'Rolling Stone'

Over the years, Halsey has joined the ranks of celebrities speaking out against prescribed beauty ideals and norms—and that includes grooming choices, like removing body hair. If she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t, and she’s proud about it. After a troll reposted the pic with an “LOL” sticker over her unshaven underarm, she cooly responded to them on Twitter, “It’s an armpit you’ve put a sticker over. Not sure what else there is here to explain?” Now, she’s taken her advocacy for skipping shave day one step further by showing off unshaven armpits on the latest cover of Rolling Stone. In the shot, the “Without Me” singer poses in a white tank with her arms behind her head and her armpits on full display. Halsey of course posted the cover shot on her ‘gram—and people are living for it.

“There is so much yes about this picture idk where to start,” Demi Lovato commented. “Rockstar status,” fellow singer (and Halsey collaborator) Benny Blanco wrote.

Maggie Rogers was excited too: “Here for this armpit hair,” she wrote. Check out the Rolling Stone cover for yourself, below:

Singer Zara Larsson also took to Twitter to praise Halsey’s decision not to shave for the shoot: “I loooove the fact that they didn’t edit the armpits like most magazines would do. Women are not little babies who don’t have body hair. Stunning cover.”

Meanwhile, fans also applauded Halsey for embracing her body hair.

In another high-profile unshaven armpit moment, Amandla Sternberg walked the red carpet at the BFI Film Festival last October, wearing a stunning Valentino gown that showed off their underarm hair. With their trademark sense of humor, they posted a pic to their ‘gram of the look, writing “#drama #armpit” in the caption. Happily, per Halsey’s pic, it seems people are becoming more receptive to a little bit of perfectly natural body hair.

Zendaya Just Showed Everyone How an Inclusive Fashion Show Is Done

Zendaya has a solid reputation as champion for inclusivity—and her ventures in fashion are no exception. This week in her first TommyNow collection with Tommy Hilfiger at Paris Fashion Week Zendaya showed the entire industry how to put on an inclusive—and fun—fashion show.

Inspired by disco-era designs, the Tommy x Zendaya was a party filled with colorful clothing, and top models of color in a full spectrum of sizes. In a fashion week that tends to run exceptionally low on showing women outside sample sizes, it was a major standout in the best way. Unfortunately for our wallets (but fortunately for our late-winter style ruts), the whole collection is shoppable online now too.

The inspiration behind her groovy show requires a little history lesson. Back in 1973, French and American top designers (think Givenchy and Dior, Halston and Oscar de la Renta) faced off in Paris in the “Battle of Versailles,” a challenge to see if America could overcome its reputation of being the “poor country cousin to French couture,” as WWD explained in an interview with Zendaya. The Americans wound up the victor, thanks to modern designs and designer Stephen Burrows’ casting of black models who brought it on the runway with “fun-loving attitudes and moves” that “stole the show” reports WWD. They also broke major ground for future women of color. It’s from this headline-making show that Zendaya and her stylist, Law Roach, told WWD that they drew inspiration.

“We’re paying homage to these women who changed our legacy…and allowed for me and so many others to be here. I remember when my Vogue cover came out, Beverly Johnson [the first African American model to land the cover of American Vogue] tweeted me congratulations, and I said this wouldn’t be possible without you,” said Zendaya. “This is about saying we appreciate and love you.”

Zendaya also said that size diversity was critical for her as they went to cast the show—a first for the Tommy Hilfiger runway.

“Size inclusivity has been important to me always—if women in my family can’t all wear it, I don’t want to make it,” Zendaya told WWD “We had plus size models, which Tommy has never done before.”

“Ten plus[-size] girls out here from New York,” Roach added. “[Zendaya] pushes me to say it has to be everyone, she’s changed my idea of what should and shouldn’t be for women.”

Hilfiger also told WWD that casting the show was up to the duo. “I said, ‘Do what you think is best.’ Obviously a couple of girls have been in our family, Winnie Harlow is one, so I said make sure they are included. But they really chose.”

Brad Pitt Showed Up to Jennifer Aniston's 50th Birthday Party, and Twitter Freaked Out

If there’s anyone who deserves to throw a hell of a 50th birthday party, it’s Jennifer Aniston: She’s a huge star, defined cool American style—and she’s put up with years of straight-up rude headlines, whether they were Brangelina adjacent or asking once again when she’d have kids (she’s happily child-free). Aniston, of course, also happened to be married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005, and it’s something people kind of can’t let go of. Two years after Brangelina split in 2016, Aniston broke up with husband Justin Theroux last February, which has sparked all sorts of “rekindling the romance” headlines. All this to say, she puts up with a lot as she lives her life—and nothing says “50 will be my best year yet” like a headline-making West Hollywood hotel rager.

It was reportedly an actual who’s who of a guest list: George and Amal Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson, Katy Perry, Ellen DeGeneres, Demi Moore, Barbra Streisand, Jon Hamm, Laura Dern, Charlie Day, Orlando Bloom, Tom Ford, Diane Keaton, John Mayer, Keith Richards, Reese Witherspoon—basically everyone you’d want to invite to your iconic milestone celebration. I mean, everyone in Hollywood turned out. What we might not have expected, though, is that Brad would show up to it.

Pictures exist of Jen wearing a black jumpsuit (gotta love a good party jumpsuit), while Brad was reportedly doing his usual newsboy cap and long hair thing. The back of his head, the one true Pitt sighting captured from the night, can be viewed here. Here’s what else we know, which is not much: According to W, “He arrived in a black SUV and was dropped off at the front door of the hotel. Literally nothing else has been made public.”

Speaking as someone who’s happily, platonically friends—super-close friends, even—with her ex, it is entirely possible that two people who once dated can still see each other as people at the end of all of it and hang out. After all, hopefully you were dating them in part because they were a good, fun person. I personally think it’s very nice that he showed up!

Twitter, needless to say, had some thoughts.

There was outright GIF glee:

A lot of wishing for once was:

Some using their powers of clairvoyance way too early:

And some people pointing out the obvious, because it’s Hollywood, and everyone’s hot, and the dating pool is only so big:

Also there was this voice of reason, embodied by a purple heart as big as its soul:

Anyway, I hope Aniston wished for everyone to leave her alone about this this year as she blew out the candles. Happy birthday, you icon.
