Here's Why Kate Middleton and Prince William Won't Stay With the Royal Family for Christmas


‘Tis the season to be merry—and to figure out where the heck you’re going to put everyone who’s coming to stay with you. As it is with us normals crowded in one-bedroom apartments, so it is with the royals in their castles, and this year, who’s staying with whom might not be what you’d expect.

In case you didn’t get the invite, Queen Elizabeth is hosting one of her famous royal Christmases (which have been compared to no less than “Downton Abbey on speed“) at her Sandringham estate in Norfolk, about two-and-a-quarter hours north-east of London. Apparently, although the manor is definitely the size you’d expect for the royal family, there are enough people staying in its 29 bedrooms that there’s no room to fit Kate Middleton and Prince William plus their three kids.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, however, will be staying at Sandringham—which is a pretty nice gesture for one’s first Royal Christmas as a full-fledged duchess.

It’s not the first time the Gen-X royals have decamped to Sandringham for Christmas, either: It’s something of a tradition. Last year, everyone gathered for Christmas church services in nearby King’s Lynn and subsequent celebrations back at the estate—and it looked like they had a holly jolly time indeed.

Because this news is coming amid rumors of royal strife between Markle and Middleton, some are quick to tie these sleeping arrangements to the duchesses’ divide—but let’s not make any hasty judgements just yet. After all, with the three junior royals Kate and Will have in tow now, a little extra space might be just the thing to keep the holiday stress down.

I personally believe that glitter is acceptable for all occasions. There’s nothing like it to spice up an otherwise simple look, bring light to your face, and—honestly—make a boring Tuesday a little more fun. Weird Celebrity Souvenirs You Won't Believe People Actually Bought


If you get paid tomorrow and want to do a little splurging, look no further than PizzaSlime.com, which is selling Noah Cyrus’ tears for $12,000. Sounds like a bargain, right? I mean, if you’re lucky to receive a random check for $12,000, there’s no better way to spend it than on a vile of tears from Miley Cyrus’ little sister. Who needs a savings account or a house? How boring! How normal! Noah Cyrus’ tears are absolutely worth forking over every cent you have.

In all seriousness, what? This isn’t a prank. This isn’t a joke. This is an actual vile of actual tears from Noah Cyrus selling for $12,000. The stunt is clearly just a way to promote Cyrus’ EP Good Cry, which drops this Friday (September 21). PizzaSlime.com’s description of these tears reads, “This is approximately 12 tears made by Noah Cyrus as a result of sadness. Human digestion of these tears is not suggested cause tears are generally pretty salty and that would just be super fucking weird if you drank someone else’s tears.”

There are so many questions running through my head right now. How do you accurately count tears? What was Cyrus crying about? What if the tears get lost in the mail? Will you receive a second jar of tears for free?

Cyrus posted about the sale herself, which is only available for 48 hours. She has other merch as well, like hoodies and sweatpants, just in case you already have a vile of celebrity tears on your mantle.

If you think buying tears is weird, just wait until you see what other souvenirs celebrities have sold on the Internet. Check out the eight most surprising buys, below:

Adele’s bag of air. Last year an Adele fan tried selling a bag of air from her concert on eBay. The post was eventually taken down, but at one point bids were as high as $1,500.

Scarlett Johansson’s tissue. In 2008 the actress signed her used tissue and sold it for $5,300. She donated the proceeds to charity. No word on whether the fan who bought the tissue caught Johansson’s cold.

Justin Timberlake’s breakfast. A 19-year-old *NSYNC super-fan got her hands on Timberlake’s half-eaten French toast back in 2000 for the cool price of $1,025. Like Johansson, Timberlake gave the cash to charity.

Britney Spears’ used pregnancy test. CNN reports that an Ottawa radio station secured the positive pregnancy test BritBrit tossed into a Los Angeles hotel room wastebasket in 2005 and sold it for $5,001. Insert obligatory “Oh, baby, baby” joke. (I’ll see myself out.)

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s breath. Yup, someone pulled an Adele in 2010 with Brangelina’s “breath.” YourTango reports that a celebrity spotter named Joe Wilson captured Pitt and Jolie’s “breath” in a jar and sold it online for $523. Wouldn’t it be nice to be a person who has $500 to spend on quite literally nothing?

John Lennon’s tooth. A Canadian dentist snagged one of the late Beatles’ pearly whites for $31,200. “I want to hold your hand tooth.”

William Shatner’s kidney stone. GoldenPalace.com, a casino known for buying crazy things like the Virgin Mary–shaped grilled cheese, reportedly bought Shatner’s kidney stone for $25,000. Which begs the question: How the hell was this delivered?

Queen Elizabeth II’s underwear. One pair of royal undergarments were sold to a questionable person for $18,101, according to Christian Post I object to this on every imaginable level.

What happened to just buying a nice poster?! The Internet is a terrifying place.

Why Meghan Markle's Stella McCartney Reception Dress Won't Be on Display With Her Wedding Gown


Looks like we’ve got a bit of a good news/bad news situation on our hands in regards to your prospects of seeing Meghan Markle‘s iconic wedding dresses in real life. While her custom Givenchy Haute Couture ceremony gown by Clare Waight Keller will be on display for the entire world to see as of October 26, the Stella McCartney number she changed into for the evening reception will not. Instead, it’ll be kept private.

According to a spokesperson for The Royal Collection Trust, Markle has chosen to keep the sleek white halter dress as a part of her personal collection instead of showing it off to the public. “Because Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding reception was a private affair, the bride’s second dress will not be showcased,” Hello! reports.

So, you might not be able to see the incredibly glamorous dress that sped through the streets in a vintage Jaguar, but the Givenchy gown Meghan wore to walk down the aisle at St George’s Chapel will be put up at Windsor Castle as part of The Royal Collection Trust’s latest exhibition, “A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” which opens in October. That, plus Markle’s shoes, veil, tiara, and accessories will be on view through January 6, 2019.—before moving to the Palace of Holyroodhouse from June 14, 2019 to October 6, 2019.

If you were a big fan of Markle’s second Royal Wedding dress, though, there’s still the option to go straight to Stella McCartney herself: Earlier this summer, the designer announced she would be creating a limited-edition capsule collection inspired by the Duchess of Sussex. Plus, we have a feeling we’ll be seeing plenty of boatneck and halter wedding gowns over the next few years, thanks to Markle.

Why Meghan Markle Reportedly Won't Get to Keep Most of Her Birthday Presents


Being a member of the British royal family comes with tons of benefits, but keeping your own birthday presents apparently isn’t one of them. On Saturday, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, celebrated her 37th birthday, and she no doubt received plenty of presents for the special occasion. Unfortunately, The Mirror reports that she’ll return most of them, as per the royal family’s guidelines. “The fundamental principle governing the acceptance of gifts by Members of The Royal Family is that no gifts, including hospitality or services, should be accepted which would, or might appear to, place the Member of The Royal Family under any obligation to the donor,” the guidelines state, according to The Mirror.

This means, The Mirror reports that Markle would normally have to return anything from a business. This includes samples, although if it costs too much to return, she can probably keep it. (A souvenir of an official visit is OK, too.) Markle would also have to give back money, obviously, unless she accepts it on behalf of a charity.

But it’s not all bad. The Mirror reports that the duchess would get to keep gifts from public bodies in the U.K., like trade associations, and things from people she doesn’t know if they’re flowers, food, non-controversial books from the author themselves, and anything else that doesn’t cost more than £150 (around $194). But there’s a catch: If she has concerns about the sender’s motives, she’ll have to send it back.

These rules are the same reason why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to reportedly give back $9.3 million in wedding gifts following their nuptials in May. That’s a lot of boxes. It’s also why they asked people to donate to charity instead of sending gifts.

“The couple have personally chosen 7 charities which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces,” Kensington Palace said at the time.

Taylor Swift Just Won't Let That National Snake Day Drama Die


Let me take you back exactly two years ago: Kanye West had just released a new song, “Famous,” in which he rapped about how he’s responsible for Taylor Swift’s fame. He specifically said, “I made that bitch famous,” a line Swift claimed she didn’t know about or approve of. Fast-forward to July 17, 2016: West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, uploaded a series of Snapchat videos that showed Swift having a conversation with West about “Famous.” Swift said she hadn’t approved of the phrase “that bitch,” which the Snapchat clips corroborate, but the damage was done. Twitter users took the videos as “proof” she lied about her knowledge of “Famous,” and they branded her a “snake.” It was all very petty and dumb and ridiculous.

So what did Swift do? She made snakes the focal point of her Reputation album era. Ever since she dropped “Look What You Made Me Do” in August 2017, Swift’s been all about the snakes: snake outfits, snake social media posts, snake images in her music videos—the works. She did this all in an attempt to reclaim her narrative, which she has. We get it! Snakes are cool now! The feud is over!

Well, not for Swift’s fans, at least. They took to social media yesterday—the two-year anniversary of #SnakeGate—demanding Kardashian “apologize” to Swift for what happened. The “Delicate” singer seemingly nodded to the anniversary herself too, wearing a snakeskin-patterned bag around New York City. Of course, that could’ve just been a coincidence.

But what she said during her concert last night definitely wasn’t. “Happy National Snake Day: my favorite day of the year,” Swift exclaimed Tuesday night while performing “LWYMMD” on her Cleveland Reputation Stadium Tour stop.

She also opened up about #SnakeGate in May when she kicked off her tour, saying, “A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on. And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media. And I went through some really low times for a while because of it.”

So now we have definitive proof that, yes, Swift is still very much thinking about this hoopla. That bag might’ve actually been intentional, after all. Drama, drama, drama!

Here’s the thing: National Snake Day is pretty much what created Swift’s Reputation album, which is an absolute bop parade, so I can’t be 100 percent mad at it. That being said, Swift and Kardashian should probably just let dead dogs snakes lie at this point. They both are too paid and too iconic to worry about something that happened on Snapchat years ago. Their million-dollar empires and kids and British boyfriends who low-key look like Ken dolls are far more interesting talking points, TBH. After two years it’s high time for them—and their fandoms—to just shake it off.
