‘The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart’ Review: This Series Is Actually Really Addicting

Harrison is right. The cast is fascinating to watch and seem to have been made for television. There’s Sheridan, 27, who looks like a cross between Bo Bice from Idol fame and Jason Mamoa, with his long, curly hair. He has a car named Sheila, so naturally he’s looking “for a copilot for her.” There’s Jamie, 21, a hostess who says every guy she’s ever dated has cheated on her, and it’s her dream to have Mr. Perfect write her a love song. (If only it were that easy.) If the show wasn’t so set on forming romantic connections, I’d love to see what kind of music Jamie and Rudi, 24, a studio vocalist, could come up with. Much like Jamie’s frustrations with men, Rudi says she’s already dated most of the guys in L.A. and is exhausted. “Where are all the good ones?” she complains to Harrison. “I’m 24, I’m so fucking ready.”

Then there’s Trevor Holmes, 29, a social media marketing guy whom Katy Perry declared “so hot” when he auditioned for Idol a couple years ago. He currently wants someone other than his dog to be loyal and committed to him. From the looks of episode one, that won’t be a problem.

Ironically, a problem in past Bachelor seasons has been the number of contestants looking for fame—or Instagram sponsorships—and our frustration that they aren’t really there for love. With Listen to Your Heart, these contestants don’t have to hide their ambition. They all want some level of fame and success their everyday lives haven’t yet afforded them. So in order to do that, they have to fall in love—and prove they have the music chops to make a connection.

“If you’re not part of a committed couple, you’re going home,” Harrison warns says. “The ultimate challenge…it’s not just to become a music star or to find love…it’s to get it all.”

While music is the common denominator, love—and drama—is still front and center. Whether any of these contestants come out of the show with mainstream success is beside the point, and the producers know it. They just want to entertain.

“The great thing about [the show premiering now is] that there is a silver lining to this horrific situation,” Harrison says. “There is this desire for not just content but also community. And I think Listen to Your Heart is just going to be an extension of that community. We want to talk about it on social media and have that escapism that we all love The Bachelor and Bachelorette for.”

The Bachelor Presents: Listen to Your Heart premieres Monday, April 13 on ABC.

The Sweet Reason Meghan Markle Didn't Open Up Presents at Her Baby Shower

Meghan Markle‘s much-anticipated baby shower happened this past Wednesday, February 20. The star-studded event took place in New York City’s Upper East Side and reportedly featured jazz music, food by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, and flower-arranging activities.

One thing that didn’t happen at the shower, though, was present opening. Gayle King, one of the celebrities who attended the baby shower, revealed Friday (February 22) on CBS This Morning that Markle opted not to open up her gifts during the actual celebration. And her reason is very sweet.

“She didn’t open up any of the gifts because she wants to do that when she and Harry are back together,” King said. “So I really don’t know what everybody got [her].”

King said a “good time was had by all” at the baby shower, which was also attended by Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, and Markle’s Suits costar Abigail Spencer.

“She’s a very private person,” King also noted. “I think she should decide what she wants to say about [the shower].”

Watch King discuss this for yourself in the videos, below.

The only tidbit King reveals here is about the flower-arranging activity. “We all each made an individual base, and then Meghan, at the request, got in touch with an organization I’ve never heard of, Repeat Roses, and all of those [bases] were donated to different charities. I thought that was a very sweet thing. It just speaks to who she is: She’s very kind. She’s very generous and a really, really sweet person. I think her friends just wanted to celebrate her.”

King says Williams and Markle’s longtime friends, Genevive Hillis and Jessica Mulroney, hosted the shower: “It was a very small, private affair and just a very special time for her.”

Kensington Palace announced in October 2018 that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were expecting their first child. She’s due this spring.

Best Divorce Gifts: 20 Presents To Give from Etsy

Earlier this month, Ariana Grande created the breakup anthem we all needed with “thank u, next“. The newly anointed ponytailed patron saint of taking the high road also offered sage advice to women looking to pick out the perfect engagement ring with a single Instagram comment: don’t. Some might say she’s bitter but it’s evident from the lyrics of “thank u, next” that, if anything, she’s the opposite. Just because her last engagement didn’t pan out doesn’t mean the next one won’t.

This is all very important because chances are you may currently know someone who is saying “thank u, next” to their last marriage. While most people have a combined dating history and engagement time that’s longer than the span of four months, but like Grande suggests, maybe the best thing to do after getting a divorce (or ending an engagement) isn’t to harp on the past or to fixate on getting even but to move on. And you know what makes moving on easier? Gifts! And what better place to find presents specifically tailored to separating than on Etsy.

From custom mugs to swill wine from to keychains engraved with the date of one’s divorce, we mined the craft Mecca for the wittiest gifts to buy a friend—or yourself—post-divorce. If your pal isn’t quite ready to laugh yet, we’ve also included some goodies that err on the side of empathy, like calming herbal bath salts and aura-cleansing sage.

Why Meghan Markle Can't Open Presents on Christmas Anymore

Meghan Markle spent her first Christmas with the royal family last year when she was just engaged to Prince Harry. If you’ll recall, she attended Queen Elizabeth II’s Christmas party, which actually broke royal protocol because typically only spouses of the royal family are invited. Now that Markle is officially a member of the tribe, though, there’s a whole new slate of royal rules and traditions she’ll have to adopt. One that might be a big change for Markle is that the family opens presents at teatime on Christmas Eve—not Christmas morning, like most of us mere mortals.

“On Christmas Eve, The Royal Family lay out their presents on trestle tables and will exchange their gifts at teatime,” reads a section from the the family’s official website.

This isn’t that strange of a tradition, if you think about it. Most families who celebrate Christmas usually do something exciting the night before, like open one present. But if Markle’s ever had a proper Christmas morning—and she probably has—then this new schedule will be an adjustment nonetheless. However, the fact that she’ll be celebrating Christmas inside a literal palace will no-doubt make the transition a little easier.

The royals historically spend both Christmas and New Year’s at Sandringham House, the queen’s country estate in Norfolk. They usually attend the Christmas morning church service at St Mary Magdalene, Sandringham. Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip send out about 750 Christmas cards that normally include some type of family photo. Can’t wait to see what Markle is wearing in that pic! My money is on something navy with her hair in a messy bun.

Why Meghan Markle Reportedly Won't Get to Keep Most of Her Birthday Presents

Being a member of the British royal family comes with tons of benefits, but keeping your own birthday presents apparently isn’t one of them. On Saturday, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, celebrated her 37th birthday, and she no doubt received plenty of presents for the special occasion. Unfortunately, The Mirror reports that she’ll return most of them, as per the royal family’s guidelines. “The fundamental principle governing the acceptance of gifts by Members of The Royal Family is that no gifts, including hospitality or services, should be accepted which would, or might appear to, place the Member of The Royal Family under any obligation to the donor,” the guidelines state, according to The Mirror.

This means, The Mirror reports that Markle would normally have to return anything from a business. This includes samples, although if it costs too much to return, she can probably keep it. (A souvenir of an official visit is OK, too.) Markle would also have to give back money, obviously, unless she accepts it on behalf of a charity.

But it’s not all bad. The Mirror reports that the duchess would get to keep gifts from public bodies in the U.K., like trade associations, and things from people she doesn’t know if they’re flowers, food, non-controversial books from the author themselves, and anything else that doesn’t cost more than £150 (around $194). But there’s a catch: If she has concerns about the sender’s motives, she’ll have to send it back.

These rules are the same reason why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had to reportedly give back $9.3 million in wedding gifts following their nuptials in May. That’s a lot of boxes. It’s also why they asked people to donate to charity instead of sending gifts.

“The couple have personally chosen 7 charities which represent a range of issues that they are passionate about, including sport for social change, women’s empowerment, conservation, the environment, homelessness, HIV and the Armed Forces,” Kensington Palace said at the time.

The Original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter Presents Patty Jenkins With Her Woman of the Year Award

On a night filled with countless wonderful women, we were lucky enough to be in the presence of two bonafide Wonder Women. At Monday night’s Women of the Year Awards, the O.G. Wonder Woman, the fabulous Lynda Carter, presented honoree and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins with her award. Their friendship is actual squad goals (Justice League goals?), and Carter said of Jenkins, “She is a force to be reckoned with and she always has been.”

Carter added, “She got the essence of Wonder Woman because it lives inside her. She took the challenge of this miracle of an ideas and an iconic ’70s TV show and she made the ‘she’ become the ‘we’ on the big screen all over the world.”

In accepting her award, Jenkins acknowledged and thanked the loving, inspiring, and impactful Wonder Women in her own life. “No person’s an island,” she said, acknowledging what it means to have a Wonder Woman to look up to in 2017. Wonder Woman “stands for a new kind of hero who is strong and powerful and can fight the bad guy, but also believes in love and thoughtfulness.”

That sequel can’t come soon enough.
