The One Beauty Rule Leslie Mann Won't Let Daughter Maude Apatow Break

MA: Lipstick!

Which of you spends the most on hair?

LM: It’s me again. We like to use conditioner for coarse hair, even though we have fine hair. It’s so good—it’s like a hair mask. And then…

Together: Olaplex!

LM: I love Olaplex No. 6.

Is that because you guys are coloring your hair often?

LM: Well, I have to color my hair because…you know. But Maude doesn’t.

MA: I’ll color my hair sometimes, and the Olaplex masks are good for that. But with the Bond Smoother, you can use right after you get out of the shower every day. That one is so good.

Which one of you takes the most time getting ready?

LM: I can be ready in, like, three minutes.

MA: Yeah, that’s definitely me. I like to relax and do my whole routine. I just take my time putting on makeup. I don’t really know why…

LM: She does a really good job. She does great eyeshadow and brows.

MA: Oh, yeah, I love doing my eyebrows.

LM: I don’t wear face makeup. Usually, I’ll put on mascara and that’s it. So I’m quick.

Maude, did you pick up any good tips from the Euphoria set? We can’t talk makeup without talking Euphoria makeup, because it’s incredible.

MA: Donni Davey, who did the makeup on Euphoria, was so good at doing foundation and glowy face makeup without it ever looking cakey. It never looks like makeup! I sort of just watched her do it, and the way she did my eyebrows. She’s amazing. Working on that show made me want to try more fun makeup looks.

If you had to pick a character’s makeup to embody from the show, whose would it be?

MA: Probably Maddy. Maddy’s got the best look. And Kat. I mean everyone has great makeup.

Question for you both: What’s one beauty trend you wish you’d never tried?

LM: Plucking my eyebrows really thin. Oh, and a perm! I had a perm. I have really curly hair, and for some reason I thought that it would lighten my hair. I don’t know why I would want it curlier, but I did.

MA: I wore a lot of eyeliner in middle school.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Won't Be Missed

On Thursday, Donald Trump announced on Twitter that “After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas.” Unlike some of Trump’s statements, this one at least has a kernel of truth to it. Indeed, soon-to-be former White House Press Secretary Sanders has lasted multiples of Scaramucci. She survived Stormy Daniels and Michael Cohen and General John F. Kelly as well as fellow prominent ladies of the administration, such as former Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen and Nikki Haley, who served as ambassador to the United Nations.

But like all denizens of Trumpworld (except those who share the president’s last name), she has run her course.

For months, there had been speculation that Sanders would step down. It’s less clear from what, given that she hasn’t stood behind the podium to take questions from the press in over 95 days. The New York Times summed up the job she is set to depart like this: “In Tokyo, she took a sushi-making class. In London, she posted a Buckingham Palace selfie with Louise Linton, the actress who is married to the Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin. (In an undocumented interaction, she asked the Prince of Wales to sign her dinner menu. He did.) In Ireland, Ms. Sanders and her husband, Bryan, took a photo with a group of Trump loyalists at the president’s private golf club and visited a local pub.” In other words, she’s spent the past few months like most Trumpian kleptocrats: enjoying the perks of government “work.”

With no actual accomplishments to memorialize in the traditional White House departure post-mortem, Sanders will be remembered first and foremost not for what she did, but for how she did it: With frequent sneers and ceaseless scorn, she was one more woman who helped Trump launder his sexism and racism. Like Ivanka Trump, with her nebulous “women’s empowerment initiative,” or Kellyanne Conway, who claimed that women who oppose Trump “just have a problem with women in power,” Sanders has obfuscated and stalled and deflected, providing effective cover for some of the president’s most misogynistic behavior.

Sanders lied about the president’s hush money payments to adult film actor Stormy Daniels, telling the press that “the president has addressed these directly and made very well clear that none of these allegations are true.” (Reader, it turned out what she meant was all of those allegations were in fact true.)

Meghan Markle Won't Meet With Donald Trump When He Visits England Next Month

Next month President Donald Trump will make an official three-day state visit to the United Kingdom. While he’s there, he’ll be meeting with many members of the royal family at various events. But the lone American royal, Meghan Markle, is noticeably absent from the itinerary.

According to CNN, Queen Elizabeth II will be joined by Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, to greet the president and First Lady Melania Trump at Buckingham Palace. (They’ll accompany the couple to other events over the course of their stay as well.) As for the rest of the family, Prince Harry will join his grandmother for a private lunch with Donald and Melania that afternoon. The first night of Trump’s visit ends with a state banquet, and Prince William and Kate Middleton are expected to attend that.

Markle, however, will reportedly not be joining any of those events—not even the lunch with Prince Harry.

There’s a simple explanation for this: Markle is still officially on maternity leave, so she’ll likely be at home with baby Archie. That said, this may come as a welcome reprieve for Markle. The actress was quite vocal about politics and her dislike of Trump specifically before she became the Duchess of Sussex. (The royal family is expected to remain politically neutral in public.)

“It’s really the moment I go, we film Suits in Toronto, and I might just stay in Canada…” she said on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in 2016 about Trump’s election. “Yes, of course, Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it.”

This isn’t Trump’s first visit to the United Kingdom since becoming president. He and Melania met Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in 2018, when he reportedly kept Her Majesty waiting for 15 minutes which caused a major stir on Twitter. Trump also walked in front of the queen, which the New York Times dubbed a “royal no-no.”

If only we could be on the royal family group text to hear what they really think after the visit…

The Meghan Markle 'Duchess Difficult' Rumors Just Won't Stop—and This One Is Bizarre

Late last year, rumors started flying that Meghan Markle was a quote-unquote “difficult” duchess. Apparently, she’s been upsetting dozens of palace staff members by having the audacity to—gasp—send emails at 5:30 in the morning. This “up and at ’em West Coast energy,” as The Daily Mail put it in November, is reportedly rubbing some the wrong way—so much so, tabloids have coined the phrase “Hurricane Meghan.”

It’s obvious this narrative is a complete exaggeration. Royals expert Katie Nicholl confirmed as much to Glamour when she said, “Meghan brings a different regime to the palace. She does things differently. She’s a very intelligent, articulate, and driven woman. I think she works at a different speed than most people. She’s got an incredible work ethic. But I think it’s a case of her getting used to a new regime, and the new regime getting used to her. There’s nothing that can’t be ironed out.”

But nevertheless the “diva” rumors are persisting—and this latest one is particularly bizarre. According to The Sun, staff members at Frogmore Cottage, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s new home, have been “banned” from using the parking lot closest to the residence and instead must use the one a mile away.

The sources who spoke to The Sun seem to confirm a change in parking permits is happening, but here’s the kicker: It reportedly was the superintendent of the castle’s decision, not Markle’s. And yet all the tabloids reporting this story are making it seem like Markle woke up and randomly decreed, “You know what would be fun? Forcing all the staff members to walk a mile to work each day.” The headline in one article starts with “Not in Meg Back Yard,” which is apparently the acronym insiders are using to describe this change. That makes it sound like Markle is the one behind the choice.

Which is frustrating. This is a woman who bakes banana bread in her free time and says the word “wonderful” like a Disney princess. I find it hard to believe she’s changing the parking situation at Frogmore just because she and Prince Harry “don’t want to look out of their window and see cars coming and going,” as one source claims. Meghan Markle does yoga, for crying out loud. She’s calm. She’s zen. She’s doesn’t give a fuck if the chef’s 2007 Toyota Camry is parked outside her house. She’s too busy deciding which vegan paint color her new living room should be.

In all seriousness, there’s probably a perfectly logical reason why the parking at Frogmore Cottage is changing—and my guess is it has nothing to do with Markle being “difficult.” It’s ridiculous that ambitious and opinionated women are still getting strapped with that word in 2019. If this story is true, and the Frogmore staff does feel inconvenienced, I wouldn’t be surprised if Markle starts some kind of shuttle service to accommodate them. It’ll be a luxurious-as-hell service, too, with leather seats and TV screens playing old Suits episodes on a loop. Mark my words.

Here's Why Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Won't Be Getting Back Together Anytime Soon

If you’re a Gigi Hadid-and-Zayn Malik shipper, there’s a good chance you were heartbroken to hear that they broke up for the second time in January. Although they never confirmed the split themselves, it seemed pretty clear based on their social media accounts that the relationship was over. But when the former One Direction singer tweeted “Love you” to the model earlier this month, fans were convinced the couple was going to get back together. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

A source told Us Weekly that “Gigi and Zayn still talk. She still has feelings for him, of course, but he has major issues and she knows they aren’t compatible. She’s still very single.”

Although it’s unclear exactly what “issues” they’re referring to, apparently Hadid “tried hard to make it work” and reportedly “cut herself off from all her friends every time they were together” so she could “focus all her time and energy on him.” In the end, the publication reports, it just became too much for her, and the pair decided to call it quits. A source also told the outlet at the time of their January breakup that a reconciliation wasn’t going to happen this time around—probably. “They’re done,” the insider said. “They could get back together, but it’s over for now.”

The two broke up for the first time in March 2018, both issuing heartfelt statements to announce they’d gone their separate ways. Malik called his romance with Hadid “incredibly meaningful, loving, and fun,” while Hadid said she’s “forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons” that she and Malik shared during their three-year relationship.

They eventually reunited a few months later, confirming they were back together by posting a cuddly photo together on Instagram. Right now, it’s unclear what the future holds for Malik and Gigi; however, if you need a full relationship timeline—because let’s be honest, there’s a lot to cover—we’ve put a handy one together.
