Every Single Outfit Meghan Markle Has Worn on Her Royal Tour of Australia

Meghan Markle is expecting a baby, but she’s also celebrating another royal first: She and Prince Harry have embarked on a royal tour of the Commonwealth halfway across the globe. From October 16th through the 31st, the couple will visit Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand, with an education- and serviced-based itinerary centered around environmental conservation, youth leadership, and rehabilitation for servicemen and women. And, as we know from previous royal tours, that means there are a lot of photo opps.

With several days of appearances and events lined up, we’re gearing up for two straight weeks of Duke and Duchess of Sussex moments—from PDA to, yes, fashion. And from the moment she touched down in Sydney, Markle has delivered. (Not that we expected anything less from a woman who can wear tuxedo dresses and fast-fashion blouses with equal finesse.) Early outfits have included looks by Karen Gee and Brandon Maxwell, which has only raised the anticipation for the rest of her travel wardrobe. So we’re gathering them all in one place: Check out every single ensemble Markle has worn on her 2018 royal tour so far, with plenty of updates coming throughout the next two weeks.

Meghan Markle Wore Princess Diana's Jewelry During Her Royal Tour of Australia

Amid all the hoopla surrounding her pregnancy announcement, you may have missed a lovely tribute to the late Princess Diana in Meghan Markle‘s first outfit from her and Prince Harry’s royal tour of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand.

The first stop on their 16-day visit was to the Admiralty House in Sydney, home to Sir Peter Cosgrove, governor-general of Australia. For her first appearance since revealing that she’s expecting her first child, Markle wore a white sheath dress by local designer Karen Gee (which can be yours for around $1,285, at the current exchange rate) with suede pumps.

The talking point, though, was her jewelry, which she appears to have plucked straight from Princess Diana’s collection.

Fans quickly identified her sparkly butterfly earrings as having belonged to the late princess. She wore them in May 1986, while on a royal tour of Canada with Prince Charles.

That wasn’t the only accessory Markle borrowed for her trip: The Duchess of Sussex also wore Princess Diana’s bracelet from a 1990 visit to an elderly home in East London.

According to Hello!, Princess Diana left all of her jewelry to her two sons with the intention of having their future wives wear them one day. Markle’s engagement ring features diamonds from her collection; she also wore one of her most famous pieces—an aquamarine cocktail ring—to her wedding reception, with her now-famous Stella McCartney gown.

Throughout their relationship, Markle and Prince Harry have spoken about how important it is to them to honor the memory of Princess Diana during big milestones. That continues to ring true as they embark on yet another, very exciting chapter.

Meghan Markle Is Reportedly Taking Her Best Friend on Her Royal Tour of Australia

Meghan Markle is all about her girl squad, even when she’s traveling across the world for a major royal tour. According to reports, the Duchess of Sussex has decided to bring her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney on the road with her next week when she and Prince Harry kick off a 16-day visit to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand—because even a duchess needs her BFF nearby.

The Daily Mail and The Sunday Times both report that Mulroney will be on hand with her husband, Ben, in an “unofficial capacity”—reportedly meaning they’ll be paying their own way and kind of just casually tagging along on the royal tour, NBD. They’re expected to fly from Toronto to meet Prince Harry and Markle when the tour launches at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday.

Mulroney has often styled Markle for important events, and with the amount of stops and photo ops Markle will be doing on this tour, it could be handy to have a little casual behind-the-scenes advice in the style department, since she might have as many as three outfit changes in a single day. Mulroney likely provided her expertise for Markle’s engagement party last November, and might have also been behind the beige trench coat from House of Nonie that the Duchess of Sussex wore to the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibit in London in July.

The two have reportedly been friends since they met in 2011, back when Markle was on Suits (Mulroney is based in Toronto, where the show was shot). Since becoming buds, they’ve been photographed together a number of times, and Mulroney was one of the guests at Markle’s wedding in May.

She’s also one of the duchess’s core group of friends, who also include power women like tennis legend Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra. They’re so close that when Markle was planning her wedding, Mulroney was rumored to be one of the friends she was considering as a maid of honor.

Although Markle didn’t end up going with anyone as a maid of honor (how would you choose, with that crowd?), it’s clear the two are still super tight—and this tour sounds like it’s going to be a girls trip to remember.

First Lady Melania Trump Wore a Pith Helmet During Tour of Africa

First Lady Melania Trump is currently on her first international solo trip, visiting various countries in Africa over the course of a week, and it hasn’t been without a few raised eyebrows.

Once again, FLOTUS’ wardrobe—particularly, one white hat—has come under scrutiny. This morning in Kenya, she visited the Sheldrick Wildlife Elephant Project wearing a white button-down, khaki pants, and tall boots. By the afternoon, to go on a tour of Nairobi National Park, she had added another item to her outfit: a pith helmet.

Quickly, people across the globe pointed out the jarring image, as pith helmets have long been associated with colonial rule, particularly in Africa and parts of Asia and the Middle East, and are considered a symbol of oppression.

Over the course of her time in the White House, Mrs. Trump’s fashion has gotten a lot of attention, with the public reading into the meaning behind every wardrobe choice, even as FLOTUS declines to offer any. Still, many have followed it closely: The New York Times reports that the hashtag #FLOTUSinAfricaBingo, started by a political science professor in California, is tracking what could be interpreted as insensitive behavior, from outfits to activities, during FLOTUS’ trip.

The White House has yet to release a statement on the pith helmet. The East Wing did release an official summary of the trip to Kenya, though, with FLOTUS saying: “The hospitality that I received made the experience so special. I was awed by the beauty of Nairobi National Park and was very interested to learn more about Kenya’s conservation efforts. The Nest is a prime example of what it means to protect and nurture our next generation—seeing their efforts shape the lives of so many children is something I will never forget. I look forward to visiting again in the future.”

Ariana Grande Has Mixed Feelings About Going Back on Tour

It’s been a tough month for Ariana Grande: The singer is coping with the sudden death of her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, who passed away from an apparent overdose on September 7. Several days after the news broke, Grande’s reps released a statement saying she was taking time to “heal and mend” and “staying close to home.” Since then, she’s kept her fans updated on Twitter, recently admitting to them that she’s trying to get “back to normal” after everything that’s happened. “It’s hard and I’m human and tired,” she tweeted.

One thing Ariantors are curious about is whether or not she plans to go on tour for her Sweetener album. Her aforementioned statement suggests that probably won’t be happening for a while, but on Friday Grande admitted via Twitter that she has mixed emotions about hitting the road again.

“I’m antsy. can’t sit still,” she wrote. “I wanna tour now. Yesterday I [just] wanted to sit home forever but today I wanna do shows and see [you].”

A fan replied to Grande’s tweet urging her to just do what will make her the happiest. “We don’t want you to go on tour and then regret it,” they said, to which Grande replied, “I’d never regret it. My happiest moments are with y’all and on stage and stuff. I think it’s just the [long] chunks of time away from home that are scary to me.”

The singer continued, “Maybe I’ll do a mini [tour]. I can’t do what I did last time right now. That I do know. Whatever it is, I hope it’s okay with you. I just love and miss you. Everybody telling me I need to take time but I’m so antsy.” (Grande’s referring to her Dangerous Woman Tour from 2017, which included the stop in Manchester.)

On Thursday (September 27), Grande worried fans when she tweeted how she just wants one “okay day.” “I’m so tired,” she added.

The next day, she sent out a message apologizing to anyone who felt concern—not that she needed to do that.

“[Just] had a human moment and wanted to confide. [You] know how much I love you,” she wrote. “On some real life shit.”
