Dakota Johnson's Architectural Digest House Tour Video Is the Only Thing Keep Me Calm Right Now

The world feels like the 2011 movie Contagion right now, with coronavirus fear at an all-time high. But one thing is keeping me calm: Dakota Johnson’s Architectural Digest house tour.

Let me paint you a picture: Last night I was at the grocery store, stocking up on cereal and cans of chili I’ll never eat because it feels like we could be quarantined any day now. In the checkout line, a person with no less than 15 jars of peanut butter in their cart started yelling at the shopper behind me for leaving their buggy unattended. I started sweating and felt my heartbeat rise, but then I played this clip on a loop from Johnson’s house tour that I’d posted to my Instagram:

“I love limes,” Johnson says in the most pleasantly hushed tone, pointing to a giant bowl of the most beautiful limes I’ve ever seen. “I love them. They’re great. I love them so much.”

Instantly, all the yelling and peanut butter and apocalyptic vibes melted away. “Wow, she’s right. Limes are great,” I thought to myself. “I wish I was a lime right now: shiny and green and sleeping in a bowl on Dakota Johnson’s kitchen counter.”

Watching Johnson’s house tour is the best vacation you’ll ever take. Even a real vacation where, like, you go to a beach can’t hold a candle to it. It’s a truly transformative experience. You’re instantly transported to a bamboo and crushed mohair (???)-covered world where your biggest problem is what artwork you want to stare at: the wax mushroom or the photo of Johnson’s grandma with one—one—of her tigers.

It’s a world where your delicate and expensive chairs that are not meant to be outside sit by your pool because, “Who cares?” A world where you have a table made from the wood of Winston Churchill’s yacht that no one uses. You have a lemon tree and an orange tree. Crystals the size of toddlers. A People’s Choice Award. This is nirvana. Nothing can hurt you here—not tax season, not Ellen DeGeneres, and certainly not the coronavirus.

For these 10 minutes, you can pretend you actually are Dakota Johnson, gliding around your all-green kitchen, not knowing what a teacup saucer is. Your neighbors will complain that your bamboo trees are too high, but that’s OK because you’re Dakota Johnson. You can tell them to “shove it.”

In this world, there are no rules: just perfect bangs, antique pianos, and a table maybe owned by Ryan Murphy, the former keeper of the house. Trust me: You need this escape right now. It’s a thing you won’t even realize you needed until you watch it. Check out the video, below, and when you’re done come talk to me. Aren’t you calmer? Happier? Ready to take on this pandemic with the enthusiasm Dakota Johnson has for 1stdibs? I thought so.

Billie Eilish Showed Off Her Body on Tour for an Important Reason

Billie Eilish’s oversized clothing has become one of her staples, and she’s said multiple times there’s a reason behind it. “I never want the world to know everything about me,” she explained in a 2019 Calvin Klein campaign. “I mean, that’s why I wear big baggy clothes: Nobody can have an opinion, because they haven’t seen what’s underneath.” In a June 2019 interview with Vogue Australia, she said her style “gives nobody the opportunity to judge what [her] body looks like.”

But in a video interlude for her Where Do We Go? World Tour, which kicked off March 9 in Miami, the pop star addressed exactly that: the idea of people judging her—or anyone’s—body. In the clip, Eilish is seen slowly undressing as she gives a powerful message about body-shaming. Per BuzzFeed, fans who attended the show say this was Eilish’s full speech:

“You have opinions about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body. Some people hate what I wear. Some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others. Some people use it to shame me. But I feel you watching, always, and nothing I do goes unseen. So while I feel your stares, your disapproval, or your sigh of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move.

Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted?

If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why? You make assumptions about people based on their size. We decide what they’re worth. If I wear more, who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?”

Watch a (somewhat shaky) fan video of the interlude—courtesy of the Twitter account Eilish Tour News—for yourself, below:

Fans flooded to Twitter to praise Billie Eilish for taking a stand against body-shaming. “Billie is using her tour as a platform to send a positive statement to her fans by using an interlude about how people’s opinions on her body aren’t her responsibility is so powerful,” one fan tweeted. “I love this women so much.”

See, below, just a few reactions from fans:

Eilish hasn’t commented on the response to the interlude yet, but stay tuned.

Every Outfit Kate Middleton Wore on Her Royal Tour of Pakistan With Prince William

Not long after Meghan Markle wrapped up a 10-day tour in South Africa, Kate Middleton is off on an official trip of her own, traveling to Pakistan for five days with Prince William. Sadly, we won’t get to see the couple’s three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—on this trip, but we will get to see a lot of fashion.

Expect to see the Duchess of Cambridge in clothes by local designers (something that both she and Markle often incorporate into their wardrobes during official travel), as well as traditional dress reimagined by some of her go-to designers. (So far she has chosen a colorful shalwar kameez—a style that involves a tunic-like top over trousers frequently worn in Pakistan—by Catherine Walker.) And don’t be surprised by any callbacks to Princess Diana: Within a day of arriving, she already drew comparisons to her late mother-in-law, who visited the country in 1997, not long before she died.

Ahead, we’re keeping track of every single outfit Middleton has worn during her royal tour of Pakistan.

Kate Middleton and Prince William's Royal Tour of Pakistan—See All the Best Moments

Another week, another royal tour.

On the heels of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s trip to southern Africa, Kate Middleton and Prince William traveled from London to Islamabad yesterday, October 14, to begin their five-day tour of Pakistan. “This is the most complex tour undertaken by [the duke and duchess] to date, given the logistical and security considerations,” a statement released by Kensington Palace ahead of the tour said. “Pakistan hosts one of Britain’s largest overseas networks, with the British High Commission in Islamabad being one of the United Kingdom’s largest diplomatic missions in the world.”

While the couple’s three children are not with them on this trip, Hello! reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dropped Prince George and Princess Charlotte at school before their flight to Pakistan.

Here are all the best moments from the royal tour.

The Cambridges had a red carpet arrival in Pakistan, complete with flowers and gifts from local children. Middleton wore a turquoise ombré take on the shalwar kameez, the traditional dress of the country that includes a tunic top over trousers.

First up, the royals visited a school where the children are part of a fast-track teacher training program called Teach for Pakistan, which focuses on young girls and women pursuing jobs in education, before meeting with kids from three schools in the Margalla Hills.

Meghan Markle Says the Royal Tour Schedule Is Based on Archie's Feeding Times

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have decided to bring five-month-old Archie to only one official engagement during their royal tour in southern Africa, but the little royal has apparently been at the center of all the planning.

During an interview during her events yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex was asked about her first work trip as a family of three. “We’re doing well,” she said, which you can see in the video below. “I think the schedule—they have been very kind to me, because everything is based around Archie’s feed times. So it’s a full plate, but we’re making it work. It’s worth it.”

She also revealed that she’s really missed her husband while he’s been on a solo leg of the tour. “It’s my first time being in [South Africa] … and Harry has continued on in a couple [of] other countries,” Markle said. “We are reuniting today, which I can’t wait for, I miss him so much!”

The duchess also spoke about the importance of seeing the work that so many are doing around one of her most important causes: the empowerment of women and girls.

“It’s been very important to me for a long time to focus on women’s and girls’ rights and especially their empowerment,” she said. “So to see this from afar and then to see the work that is being done on the ground, I think what’s really key is to focus on the work that needs to be done, but also how much incredible work is being done and to be able to be hear and support those people who are really actively working to champion the rights of women and girls.”

The Sussex family wraps up their tour later today and will fly back to London tonight. Next on the schedule: They’re currently taking on a British publication for what the royal family says was the illegal use of a letter Markle sent to her father after the royal wedding.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Royal Tour of Southern Africa—See All the Best Moments

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and baby Archie arrived in Cape Town today, September 23, for their royal tour of southern Africa. Over the course of the next 10 days, Prince Harry will make jaunts to Botswana, Angola, and Malawi while his wife and son stay in South Africa.

They have a full schedule ahead for this tour—and obviously, we’ll be keeping track of all the best moments. See them here.

After arriving on a commercial flight from London, the Sussexes (minus Archie) arrived for their first official event in the Nuyanga township, where they were greeted with music, dancing, and adorable children. While there, the royals met with representatives from The Justice Desk, a human rights organization that focuses on empowering youth in vulnerable communities—two causes championed by Meghan and Harry.

The duchess chose a patterned wrap dress from Mayamiko, a sustainable brand that sources textiles from Malawi. And the couple definitely looked to be enjoying the tiniest members of their welcoming committee.
