People on Twitter Are Sharing the Awkward Things They've Told Celebrities, and It's a Gold Mine


If you’ve ever daydreamed about meeting a celebrity—say, Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga—you’ve likely imagined the best-case scenario. You and the superstar instantly hit it off; you take a cute picture; and maybe they even remember you the next time you bump into each other in the meet-and-greet line or at Whole Foods. But as one Twitter account pointed out this week, that’s truly the best-case situation—and sometimes, the interactions go awry thanks to a little case of being starstruck.

On November 6, Twitter user @rachymarshall asked her followers to straight-up share the not-so-smooth things they’ve ever said to a celebrity. Hundreds of people have responded since then—and their self-submitted stories of awkward comments and personal questions are hilarious.

Taylor Swift

“When I met Taylor Swift she complimented me on my necklace and I bragged to her about how I got it on sale for 2 for 20 the day before and she told me she would check that out while she was wearing a $2k jacket,” wrote one fan.

(She also posted a pic of aforementioned necklace—complete with Swift.)

One Twitter user wrote that during her run-in, she told the pop icon, “‘I will shoot myself if I don’t tell you this’ to Taylor Swift which is a little more aggressive than what I meant, which was ‘I’ll never forgive myself if I don’t tell you this’ and then continued to blubber and cry.”

Another fan shared some casual growth-spurt chat with Swift.

“I love you so much harry i’m so sorry i’m such a loser i’m so sorry,” another Twitter user admitted they told the singer.

This fan got super-honest with him: “Harry Styles: Hi, how are you?,” they wrote. “Me: I have to pee.”

“When i met camila and lili from riverdale instead of asking for s group hug i said “Could you sandwich me” and everyday i regret that ajdbsks but they laughed and were nice about it so i guess it was okay,” one fan wrote.

As one fan recounted, “I met Jude Law, and the only thing I had on me for him to sign was a pad of penguin paper (I was 21 at the time ?). So, in that anxious rushed moment I said ‘WILL YOU SIGN MY PENGUIN PAPER!’ – he looked at me, laughed, and happily obliged. ?”

Women Inspired by Princess Eugenie Are Sharing Stories of Their Surgery Scars


On Friday, the world marveled over Princess Eugenie‘s royal wedding dress as she married Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle. The white gown was designed by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, and featured a folded v-shaped neckline, long sleeves, and what might as well have be a mile-long train. But one of the most important details of her wedding dress was the back, which was cut into a deep v-shape in order to highlight the spinal surgery scar that spans from her neck to her shoulder blades.

Prior to the event, Eugenie shared that she specifically selected a neckline that wouldn’t hide her scar. “I’m patron of [the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Appeal], and I had an operation when I was 12 on my back,” she told ITV. “It’s a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this.” She added: “I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it’s really special to stand up for that.”

It’s safe to say women around the world more than appreciated the gesture—they identified with it. Twitter users immediately began sharing their own experiences with spinal surgery, along with how much the validation of feeling seen meant to them.

Ashley Tait, a 26-year-old hairdresser from Kelso, Scotland, tweeted that Eugenie’s scar makes her feel “ok” about her own. And she tells Glamour that it’s giving her the power to show hers off as well. “I was very surprised—it’s not very often you see someone else who has gone through the same procedure such as scoliosis surgery,” says Tait. “I only really show off my scar if I’m telling the story about my surgery. But now that Princess Eugenie has shown her scar to the world, I feel like I should have the confidence to show mine also.”

Izzy Anstee, a 19-year-old student from London, feels similarly. According to Anstee, she’s struggled with self esteem issues after having surgery for scoliosis when she was 15. Eugenie’s gown, however, is changing her mindset. “Seeing her scar made me feel really empowered,” Anstee tells Glamour. “I’ve felt very self conscious about my scar for quite a few years and would never dream of wearing anything backless. But seeing Eugenie’s dress and how beautiful she looked in it made me realize that maybe I shouldn’t feel the need to hide it.”

While Jennifer Scarpinito, a 38-year-old accountant from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hasn’t had to receive surgery for scoliosis, she says she feels comfort in knowing that others can relate to what she’s gone through. Plus, she hopes this movement will help women everywhere feel confident in their own skin. “I think [Eugenie] showing her scar will continue to inspire women to feel beautiful and confident no matter what shape or size or pain they may be in. This was the biggest day of her life and she showed who is is both inside and out.”

For Melanie Pollard, 44, administrator in Warrington, Cheshire, UK, it’s a sign of hope for her 5-year-old daughter, who had spinal surgery at 14 months old. “My daughter Connie saw the picture of the scar and was absolutely thrilled that a ‘real life princess’ had a scar on her back just like she did,” she shares. “She thought that was amazing.”

Lindsay Lohan Says Women Sharing Their #MeToo Experiences 'Look Weak'


Lindsay Lohan has been making media rounds this summer to promote her resort Lohan Beach House in Mykonos, but a new interview is getting attention not for her foray into the hospitality world, but for what she said about women in the #MeToo era.

Speaking to British newspaper The Times, Lohan chose to call out women who come forward with accusations of sexual misconduct and harassment, saying they are “attention-seekers” and “weak.”

“If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment,” she says. “You make it a real thing by making it a police report. I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against all these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women. You have these girls who come out, who don’t even know who they are, who do it for the attention. That is taking away from the fact that it happened.”

She didn’t stop there. Lohan says that she has never had any negative experiences of the Me Too variety during her film career, which began when she was just a kid. “So, I don’t really have anything to say. I can’t speak on something I didn’t live, right? Look, I am very supportive of women,” she told The Times. “Everyone goes through their own experiences in their own ways.”

Well, that’s a take, for sure. And she concludes the interview by referencing the very public fight she had with her ex-fiancé Egor Tarabasov. “I had a fight with my ex on this very beach. What did I do? Nothing,” Lohan replies. “I just took over the beach. The best revenge is success, right?” In 2016, Lohan accused Tarabasov of domestic violence while they were dating. It’s unclear if she was touting the incident as an example of how women should handle violence or misconduct, but eyebrows are raised.

This isn’t the first time the actress has found herself in hot water during the #MeToo era. In now-deleted posts on Instagram, Lohan initially defended Harvey Weinstein as allegations about the producer surfaced in the New York Times and the New Yorker last October.

“I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now,” she says in them. “I don’t think it’s right what’s going on. I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband. He’s never wronged me or done anything to me, and we’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop. It’s wrong, so stand up.”

She then attempted to clarify the comments, telling the Daily Mail. “I am saddened to hear about the allegations against my former colleague Harvey Weinstein,” she said. “As someone who has lived their life in the public eye, I feel that allegations should always be made to the authorities and not played out in the media.”

No word yet if she has clarifications on her latest remarks.

Chrissy Teigen Issued Her Best Clapback Yet After Sharing This Breastfeeding Pic


Chrissy Teigen, Queen of Relatable Motherhood Posts, has enlightened us on many aspects of becoming a mother twice over. She goes all out to not spare us any of the details, from her tweet confirming “postpartum life is 90% better when you don’t rip to your butthole” (no, you’re not alone with that too-real cringe) and taking to her Instagram Stories to show off her unfiltered stretchmarks. She’s also been an advocate for normalizing breastfeeding, with posts discussing her “milky” boobs and Legend’s ‘gram of her pumping milk on the way to a Father’s Day dinner.

Teigen was doing the good work once again on Saturday, with an Instagram post showing her breastfeeding baby Miles, who’s coming up on two months old. The photo shows her seemingly au naturel on a chaise lounge, breastfeeding Miles, who’s covered with a baby blanket. She has a little helper on the edge of the frame, too: little Luna, who’s coming over with a blanket to cover…her babydoll, who Teigen is pretending to feed too.

“Luna making me feed her babydoll so I guess I have twins now,” she captioned the post.

Most of her fans identified with the pic—and thanked her for continuing to use her huge social media following to normalize breast-feeding.

“Mind-boggling how something so natural, pure and beautiful could possibly be offensive… #MommaPower,” one wrote.

“Thank you for showing yourself breast-feeding. It’s so important that women who are able breast-feed their children. Our society is so ridiculously hung up on breasts, that we discourage publicly doing one of the most natural things possible. You are a lovely role model,” wrote another.

There were also rightful comments about her perfection of the art of the messy bun.

However, one person was none too pleased.

“Christ in a hand basket,” the Twitter user wrote. “Menstruating, childbirth and sex are natural, too, but that doesn’t mean I want to see pics of it and/or celebrities like @chrissyteigen taking a bath or nursing. We get it.”

And Teigen, of course, had a great response—offering us a new life mantra in the process.

“I don’t care to see grainy fireworks, coachella selfies or infinity pool pics but i let people live. calm your tits and scroll on by,” she offered.

Let’s repeat for effect: “Calm your tits and scroll on by.”

Why Meghan Markle (Probably) Won't Be Sharing Prince Harry's Royal Fortune


The upcoming royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is about to make the United Kingdom an insane amount of money. Their marriage is expected to boost the economy by $680 million thanks to related tourism and T-shirt sales. And while the U.K. will have a lot to thank the soon-to-be royal couple for, Markle will be dealing with some much less fun financial conundrums. Specifically, her United States taxes (and you thought doing yours was annoying).

Although Markle plans to become a U.K. citizen, the process will take approximately three years, during which time Markle will remain a U.S. citizen. Why is this important? Royal expert Marlene Koenig told The Sun, that “Even when married to a member of the British royal family, as long as she remains a U.S. citizen she will have to pay income tax.”

Though Markle has wealth of her own (much of which comes from her role on Suits) that she’ll pay taxes on, she’s also about to marry into a family with a very large fortune. Prince Harry received half of his mother’s £21.5 million (about $29.2 million) estate when she died, and he shares a £3.5 million (about $4.7 million) annual allowance with his brother and sister-in-law, William and Kate. And that’s not to mention the rest of royal family’s worth.

If Markle receives any of her new family’s money, she’ll be at risk of paying income tax on it. “If she receives money from her husband or his family, and that’s considered income, she would have to pay income tax on that,” Koenig explained.

This poses an issue for the royal family, since Markle could have to reveal details of foreign trusts and the worth of the royals’ estate which has remained undisclosed.

“With that sort of money, if Meghan’s name is on that account, most likely she would be dinged—that would have to be reported as income in the United States. You can be sure that those at Buckingham Palace and those who run the accounts are looking very carefully at all of this to make sure that the royal family’s money does not get reported to the IRS,” Koenig said.

While planning her wedding much feel like a fairytale, this part is a royal pain in the you-know-what.
