Emilia Clarke Just Revealed What Happens When Dany Meets Arya and Sansa on Game of Thrones

Surely one of the most nerve-wracking scenes on Game of Thrones season eight will be when Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) meets Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) for the first time. Don’t forget the Mother of Dragons already has a lot stacked against her: Her family has done some pretty terrible things to the North (a.k.a Stark territory), including burning Sansa’s Uncle Brandon alive and kidnapping Jon’s mother, Lyanna. Sure, Jon and Dany may be a couple now, but I have a hard time believing that’s going to make Sansa and Arya turn a blind eye to these crimes.

Clarke confirmed as much in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. She says Dany’s first interaction with Arya and Sansa seems fine at first, but it soon becomes clear they’re not all going to become best friends.

“I like to think that it’s like Meet the Parents,” Emilia Clarke tells EW. “It’s like: ‘I hope they like me. [Jon Snow’s] wicked. It’s a real good thing we got going on. He’s the final piece. We’re destined for greatness and world domination is a breath away.’ And so I need to be like: ‘Can I braid your hair, Sansa? Little Arya, come over here, let’s play some cricket.’ So there’s that. And then, very, very quickly, it’s like: ‘Wait, is it just me, or do they hate me?’”

Alamy

Oof. This does not sound pleasant at all. But those who keep up with Game of Thrones theories shouldn’t be too surprised. It’s long been speculated that Sansa and Dany are going to outright hate each other this season. Sansa’s loyalty to her family—as evidenced by the scaly outfit she wears in the photo, below—all but confirms Dany is on her shit list. And maybe even Arya’s hit list.

(The outfit I’m referring to is in the fifth slide.)

This icy meet-and-greet happens during episode one of the new season—which premieres this Sunday on HBO—so you won’t have to wait long before finding out what happens.

Serena Williams May Have Just Accidentally Revealed the Sex of Meghan Markle's Baby

Ever since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they were expecting their first child, fans have been eager to know whether the future member of the royal family is a boy or a girl. And it now seems like Serena Williams might have accidentally just revealed the baby’s sex. In a recent interview with E! News, the tennis star was asked what advice she would give to an expecting mom, and her response has fans on high alert.

“My friend is pregnant, and she was like, ‘My kid’s gonna do this,’ (and) I just looked at her like, ‘No, she’s not. No, you’re not. She was like, ‘I need to talk to you about tips,’ because, yes, I had all of those high expectations,” she said.

Did you catch that “she’s not”? Watch the interview below:

Williams also said she thinks Markle is going to make a good mother “for sure,” and that if she could offer any new moms advice, it’s to “accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect. We put so much pressure on ourselves.” Hear, hear.

A word of warning: We can’t jump to immediate conclusions because she didn’t confirm her pregnant friend was Markle—but Markle does happen to be a very prominent member of her social circle. The tennis champ herself is, of course, mom to 1-year-old daughter Olympia Ohanian—whom she welcomed with husband Alexis Ohanian in September 2017— so Williams could also have said “she” out of habit.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that the Duke and Duchess have not publicly announced the sex of their first child, per royal tradition. Markle also told a fan in January that she and her husband wanted to keep the baby’s sex a surprise until she gives birth—so Markle might not know herself either.

Fans would probably love the idea of a new royal princess in the mix—but boy or girl, a new royal baby is always exciting for royal-watchers, who are undoubtedly refreshing Harry and Meghan’s new official Instagram for updates.

Kate Middleton Revealed Princess Charlotte's Nickname—and It's Cuter Than You Can Imagine

The British royal family continues to reveal that they are very adept at giving nicknames. Meghan Markle apparently is called “Tungsten” by her father-in-law, Prince Charles, and “Flower” by her mother, Doria Ragland. And she calls husband Prince Harry “Haz,” while Prince William and Kate Middleton went by “Wombat” and “Squeak,” respectively, when they were little.

Then Prince George recently revealed to a passerby that he goes by the hilarious name of “Archie,” leading us to wonder if Kate and Wills were streaming Riverdale in their spare time over at Kensington Palace. Now, we’ve got the 411 on what the royal parents call Princess Charlotte, thanks to a walkabout during Middleton and Prince William’s recent trip to northern Ireland.

A blogger named Laura-Ann recounted the conversation with Middleton, who first asked about the woman’s young son who was in her arms—coincidentally also named George. When the duchess inquired about Laura-Ann’s other son (who is 4), she says Middleton replied, “Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie!” Lottie! Isn’t that just about the cutest nickname you’ve ever heard?

Lottie isn’t the only endearing moniker given to the young royal by her parents. According to People, during a sighting in Norfolk during the holidays, Middleton was overheard talking to Charlotte, who was sitting on the floor of a store: “Get up, poppet!” the royal mama told her daughter.

Both nicknames are incredibly British, which, DUH. But they are also just so normal, in that sweet way that most parents have little affectionate ways of addressing their children. Sometimes it’s easy to forget in all the pomp and circumstance of royal engagements that the Cambridges and the Sussexes are families, too.

Here’s to Prince Archie and Princess Lottie! Now, what do we think they call that little nugget Prince Louis? We’re sure it’s something equally as British and adorable.

The 'Outlander' Costume Designer Just Revealed an Easter Egg You Probably Missed

Outlander season four introduced a lot of big changes for Claire and Jamie—a home at Fraser’s Ridge, a reunion with their daughter Brianna, and even a new villain in Stephen Bonnet, to name just a few. But there was another, more subtle shift happening onscreen that might have escaped your notice: the character’s costumes. As Nina Ayres, the costume designer alongside Terry Dresbach, tells Glamour, Jamie, Claire, and their loved ones are literally in a new world. That means new cultural influences, new weather elements, even new fabrics that they wouldn’t have known or used before. “We’re making sure we’re telling the story as to where those clothes might have come from,” she explains. “Because they are really out in the wilderness, there’s barely anywhere to get anything.”

Oh, and several of these outfits had to be designed while keeping in mind what a twentieth-century woman would think an eighteenth-century outfit looks like. That’s a lot of work and research, but Ayres and her team pulled it off. They even found time to sneak in a subtle callback or two. Here, she explains.

Glamour: This season mostly takes place in colonial America. What was it like prepping for that?

Nina Ayres: The most important thing this season has been to try and establish that new world, what it was about eighteenth-century America that defined it, and then finding those key pieces to introduce to our characters. We started on Wilmington, in North Carolina, and did a lot of research into what, exactly, those elements would be. Really, it’s the mix of cultures. We looked into the cultural and traditional costumes of Europe, where [most of] the settlers would have come from. Then mix that with the Native Americans who were obviously there, as well as previous settlers. Then [we thought about] the practicalities of the terrain. What sort of practical garments they would have worn?

Glamour: For Claire, were there any specific challenges?

NA: It’s always hard because you want to make sure that nothing is just emerging from out of nowhere. So you start off with a question as to where her costumes would have come from. Then you’ve always got the fact that she’s a twentieth-century woman, so practicality is her thing, as well as trying to blend in with everybody else. She doesn’t want to stand out too much. And she’s not a very frivolous dresser, so one of the elements we brought in were block-printed cottons from India, which were exported to the Colonies at the time. We kept a silhouette that people understand as Claire’s, something she’s used to wearing, but we use linens more than wools [from Scotland]. Linens were a big thing, and generally used in warmer climates.

I think the most interesting thing was working out what she might have made herself when they get to Fraser’s Ridge. She’s more layered this season than we’ve ever seen her before. We used rabbit skins and things like that—that’s what they’re eating all of the time, so it’s what she has access to. We made quite a few garments that are simple, as if she has made them herself. We used the most basic techniques while [thinking about whether] it’s a practical thing that would keep her warm, or it’s waterproof, or it’s what she’s actually doing in these things.

Glamour: Whereas with someone like Jocasta, her costumes might reflect her wealth and status?

NA: For Jocasta, we made her wardrobe quite old-fashioned. She’s a little bit of a relic from the past. And Claire doesn’t particularly enjoy being with Jocasta, or at River Run. Jocasta is getting gowns made for Claire, so they’re not…she’s being forced to wear things she wouldn’t generally choose herself. But she’s just playing the part.

It Sure Looks Like Jessica Simpson Revealed Her Daughter's Name at Her Baby Shower

Jessica Simpson, if you haven’t heard, is expecting baby number three—and on Saturday, January 19, there was a shower to help welcome the new one into the world. We assumed there’d be plenty of gifts there for the forthcoming newborn, but we didn’t expect Simpson to have one for us: the name of her baby girl.

The baby shower looked like it had a sort of bohemian woodland-fairy vibe, judging by the pics she posted on her Instagram of the event. Fittingly, Simpson wore a long white dress that she paired with a Game of Thrones meets spring goddess cape. The whole look was topped off, naturally, with a flower crown. Florals were everywhere else at the party too, from the wallpaper print and arrangements to the guests, who came wearing dresses in floral prints or embellished with appliqués. And, yes, everyone had their own flower crowns.

But among all the flora and greenery, there was one telling detail that might hint at her daughter’s name: Against the backdrop where Simpson and her guests stood to post for photos, a sign hung down saying “Birdie’s Nest.” It seems like Birdie might just be the name of her forthcoming daughter, no?

It seems that might actually be the case: A source confirmed to Us Weekly that “Birdie” is indeed the name of the baby-to-be. Of course, we won’t know for sure until we hear from Simpson herself. Until then, major congrats to her (and whoever made this party happen, because it’s seriously gorgeous).

And yes, the rest of the shots from the party were just as beautiful. Check out the rest of the pics, below:

Yolanda Hadid Just Revealed She's Done With Fillers and Botox

There’s really no question that Yolanda Hadid is a stunningly beautiful woman—and a quick look at any of the throwback photos her famous daughters Gigi and Bella post of her prove that it’s always been that way. But pictures, of course, don’t tell a woman’s entire story. During her time on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, viewers learned about Hadid’s health struggles with Lyme disease, and she has continued to document her journey on social media.

And her latest Instagram post is one of her most personal and revealing yet. On the heels of her birthday (January 11) Hadid reveals that, at 55, she’s now removed the breast implants, fillers, Botox, and extensions she felt pressured to get to keep up appearances. Or as she puts it, the things she “thought I needed in order to keep up with what society conditioned me to believe what a sexy woman should look like.” She goes on to stress the importance of health and making educated decisions about what you choose to do to and with your body, which is pretty sage advice in general.

“It took me many years of undoing some bad choices I made for myself before I finally found the freedom to sustainable internal beauty and acceptance of what is the best version of myself by no standards but my own,” she said. “It’s on us to learn to love our selves and celebrate our unique, one of a kind beauty at all ages as we move through this journey called ‘life.’ Beauty has no meaning without your health.”

Hadid has spoken about her decisions to get stop getting injectables before, and she famously had her breast implants removed on an episode of Real Housewives back in 2016. Back then, she said she’d found out that she had silicone from the implants floating in her body. “Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body,” she continued.

Keep doing you, Yolanda. Here’s to a healthy and happy new year ahead.
