Emilia Clarke Just Revealed What Happens When Dany Meets Arya and Sansa on Game of Thrones

Surely one of the most nerve-wracking scenes on Game of Thrones season eight will be when Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) meets Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) for the first time. Don’t forget the Mother of Dragons already has a lot stacked against her: Her family has done some pretty terrible things to the North (a.k.a Stark territory), including burning Sansa’s Uncle Brandon alive and kidnapping Jon’s mother, Lyanna. Sure, Jon and Dany may be a couple now, but I have a hard time believing that’s going to make Sansa and Arya turn a blind eye to these crimes.

Clarke confirmed as much in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly. She says Dany’s first interaction with Arya and Sansa seems fine at first, but it soon becomes clear they’re not all going to become best friends.

“I like to think that it’s like Meet the Parents,” Emilia Clarke tells EW. “It’s like: ‘I hope they like me. [Jon Snow’s] wicked. It’s a real good thing we got going on. He’s the final piece. We’re destined for greatness and world domination is a breath away.’ And so I need to be like: ‘Can I braid your hair, Sansa? Little Arya, come over here, let’s play some cricket.’ So there’s that. And then, very, very quickly, it’s like: ‘Wait, is it just me, or do they hate me?’”

Oof. This does not sound pleasant at all. But those who keep up with Game of Thrones theories shouldn’t be too surprised. It’s long been speculated that Sansa and Dany are going to outright hate each other this season. Sansa’s loyalty to her family—as evidenced by the scaly outfit she wears in the photo, below—all but confirms Dany is on her shit list. And maybe even Arya’s hit list.

(The outfit I’m referring to is in the fifth slide.)

This icy meet-and-greet happens during episode one of the new season—which premieres this Sunday on HBO—so you won’t have to wait long before finding out what happens.

This New Footage From *Game of Thrones* Season 8 Teases Some Big Jon and Dany Theories

The season-eight premiere of Game of Thrones is less than two weeks away, and fan theories are reaching a fever pitch—even more so now that HBO has released two new promo videos which contain new, never-before-seen footage.

The videos clips are short, but they contain a ton of material for fans to dissect. In the new footage, we see Tyrion addressing the crowd (“We must fight together, or die”) at Winterfell, where Sansa and Dany can be spotted together at the head of table. Does that mean these two are actually getting along? We see the Unsullied getting into formation for battle, Beric Dondarrion lighting up his sword with the Hound, and a glimpse of Arya and Jon finally being reunited as his voiceover says, “Think back to where we started, now it’s just us.” (Those two haven’t been together since season one!)

But it’s the scenes with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen that are garnering the most online buzz.

Watch them both below, and then let’s discuss.

That moment where Jon walks away as Dany stares into the fire—possibly at Dragonstone? Yeah, people on Reddit think that might be the moment the couple learns they are, in fact, aunt and nephew. “Dany looking towards the fire while Jon turns away is totally when she learns the truth,” one commenter wrote. Obviously, we can’t know exactly what’s going on in the scene, but it seems logical Jon learns his true parentage at some point this season and that it will have a drastic effect on his relationship with Dany.

Though some think he may just be leaving her to go to battle—but wouldn’t she be joining him?

There’s also a shot of Varos, Tyrion, and Davos looking up overhead at something, which many assume to be Dany’s dragons. But the newest theory is that Jon may be riding one of them. “They’ve seen dragons before. There’s only one reason why they are looking at dragon like that – someone other than Daenerys is riding,” one fan wrote on Twitter.

Game of Thrones season eight officially returns Sunday, April 14 on HBO. We’ll get all our answers then.

This 'Game of Thrones' Theory Explains Why Tyrion Was So Weird About Jon and Dany

The highlight—or lowlight, depending on your stance—of the Game of Thrones season finale was when Jon and Daenerys finally had sex. This, erm, union was a long time coming; show-runners have been teasing their sexual tension since the beginning of the season. (That cave scene, anyone?) Of course, the fact they’re related—Dany is Jon’s aunt—is why some fans don’t ship their coupling, but the other half of the GoT army doesn’t care. After all, this show started with an incest scene between Cersei and Jaime Lannister. Blood relatives sleeping together apparently isn’t a big deal in this world.

What is a big deal, however, is the fact Tyrion was lurking outside the room where Jon and Dany were getting it on. Why was he out there? Was he just grossed out? Pissed off?

According to this new Reddit theory by a user named AchievementJoe, it’s much deeper than that. AchievementJoe thinks Tyrion betrayed Jon and Dany during his meeting with Cersei—and that’s why he was pacing outside the room. So…is it guilt?

“I’m thinking Tyrion may have told Cersei before she walked back into the Dragon Pit to just tell Daenerys and Jon what they wanted to hear so that the meeting ended in good terms,” AchievementJoe writes. “It seemed to be an important aspect of the meeting to tell a lie. So I’m thinking Tyrion actually knows that Cersei won’t back down and that she plans to attack while they are away and that is why he is so disappointed while Jon and Dany are doing the dirty because he knows that the truce is all a facade.”

Come to think about it, the beginning of the finale sort of hinted Tyrion would commit some kind of betrayal. Remember when he told Jon he should learn to lie to powerful people? “Have you ever considered learning how to lie every now and then? Just a bit?” he said. He was literally talking about how great lying is before doing some lying himself.

Well, lying might not be the best word for this; Tyrion essentially hid a part of the truth. So when will Jon and Dany find out the full story? When Cersei just straight-up doesn’t come to Winterfell? Regardless of when it happens, we’re scared for Tyrion. You don’t want to piss off Dany. She has an army of dragons.
