Lana Condor Seemingly Responds to Donald Trump Calling COVID-19 the ‘Chinese Virus’

Lana Condor—like many Americans—woke up to a disheartening series of tweets by President Donald Trump, repeatedly referring to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) as the “Chinese virus.” In one of last night’s tweets, Trump said he “always treated the Chinese virus very seriously, and have done a very good job from the beginning.” He went on to claim he saved “many lives” through his “early decision to close the ‘borders’ from China—against the wishes of almost all.”

In a Notes app post published to her Twitter account, Condor—who was born in Vietnam before being adopted by American parents—seemingly responded to the president’s tweets, though she didn’t refer to him by name.

“Be better,” the To All the Boys actor wrote. “To wake up to your chaos is truly a nightmare. Please. Be better. To my followers—be safe. I love you.” Attached to the tweet was a longer message that suggests what leaders should do instead of inciting fear and spreading hateful rhetoric.

“You have no idea the ramifications your racist words & actions have on the Asian American community. You simply cannot even fathom the danger you are putting our community in,” Condor wrote in the note. “How dare you. You should be ashamed of yourself.”

“You call yourself a leader?” she continued. “You know what leaders do? They LEAD by setting good examples and ACTION. Something we’ve yet to see you do.”

She finished her message by asking for people in power to step up. “Please. Be better. So we aren’t afraid to leave our house in fear someone will verbally or physically abuse us because of your xenophobia,” she wrote.

She is not the only person in the Asian-American community speaking up. Many on Twitter are expressing their hurt over people’s racist language about the COVID-19 crisis.

During a press conference today, March 18, a reporter asked why Trump keeps referring to COVID-19 as the “Chinese virus.” Here is his response:

As Lana Condor so eloquently puts it: be better.

Jordyn Woods Responds to Fans Who Think She Shaded Khloé Kardashian Last Night

If you thought the drama between Jordyn Woods, Khloé Kardashian, and Tristan Thompson was over, think again. Almost 10 months after Woods, Kylie Jenner’s former BFF, was caught allegedly kissing Thompson (the father of Kardashian’s daughter, True) the saga continues.

On a recent episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Khloé received some expensive gifts from Thompson, now her ex, and some fans questioned why she was showing kindness and forgiveness to him, but not Woods. The reality star posted a long Instagram Story after the episode. “I don’t hold any negative or hateful feelings towards ANYONE! I mean that,” she wrote. “Life is short! We are all humans trying to figure out this thing called life … Yes, I’m allowed to feel hurt and pain. It would be unnatural for me to pretend as if I don’t. Personally, I don’t want to be carrying around a hateful heart.”

She then further clarified her message. “The reason why I decided to post my previous post is because I’m seeing a lot of back-and-forth with people asking ‘Why don’t I keep that same energy with Jordyn?’ That message is for Jordyn,” she wrote. “It’s for anyone else who has ever hurt me. For some reason people want to assume that I’m talking only about Tristan. This message applies to ALL parties involved in situations that have ever hurt me. I have moved on, found forgiveness and wish you only happiness and joy!”

Then, Jordyn Woods posted a quote that many thought was directed at Khloé Kardashian: “Someone somewhere is still discussing the old you because they don’t have access to the new you.” Woods, however, says that’s not the case. “Not every quote that is posted is a sub or a ‘clap back’ and not everything posted is directed towards one person in general. I deal with a lot of different shit daily. It’s all love. Only positive vibrations ??♥️,” she tweeted.

So, that’s that. But what we really want to know is what Kylie thinks about these latest developments.

Hilaria Baldwin Responds to ‘Cruel’ Trolls Who Shamed Her After a Recent Miscarriage

Hilaria Baldwin is opening up about the “cruel” trolls who have been attacking her following a miscarriage she experienced earlier this month. Taking to Instagram Stories, the yoga instructor spoke out about the backlash and defended herself against accusing her of publicizing the recent loss of her pregnancy for attention.

“All of a sudden I started getting negative comments about my miscarriage,” Baldwin said on social media on November 26, per People, adding that some of remarks included “attention seeker,” “too old,” and “disgusting.”

Baldwin, who is married to actor Alec Baldwin, responded to the harsh words saying there aren’t any comments that could ever compare to the pain of losing a baby.

“Losing a baby at any stage is hitting rock bottom,” Baldwin said. “Rock bottom sucks. But rock bottom is also eye opening. Because you understand and have experienced true pain. It makes the trolls seem even smaller than they usually are. Because no words they can use can ever compare to what you have lost.”

“Those of you who bully women who suffer as I have are bringing a cruelty to the world that is so wrong,” she continued. “You are contributing to feelings of shame, fear, insufferable pain. It is for this reason that I have stepped forward and shared as I have. Not for attention, but because it is my life story and I decided to open up.”

“You think I wanted this???” Baldwin asked. “I have experienced this pain that countless women before and with me have and we should make their…OUR…lives…easier, not more difficult.”

She ended her message by urging women to lift each other up. “Our system is broken,” Baldwin said. “Time to support and stop the shaming of women simply trying to create family and love.”

“Just to know we are not ‘broken’,” she added. “We are just opening ourselves up to love. And we should never be ashamed of this..even when it doesn’t go as planned.”

The mother-of-four experienced two pregnancy losses in 2019—one this month after previously revealing she was expecting a baby girl. She also miscarried in April, an experience which she candidly shared with the world in real-time.

At the time, she explained to Glamour why shared her loss as it happened, saying she hoped opening up about the private moments would help put an end to the stigma surrounding miscarriage.

“I understand why some women choose to keep this pain private, but it’s such a personal thing—some people need to process the loss on their own, and others need to process it more publicly,” she said. “Women deserve to have the option to do whatever they need to heal.”

Jenna Dewan Responds to Rumors She Shaded Camila Cabello at the 2019 American Music Awards

Jenna Dewan appeared to have a great time at the 2019 American Music Awards Sunday night (November 24), rocking out in the crowd to the performances alongside her stylist and friend, Brad Goreski. But one moment caught on camera had some viewers wondering if she was mocking Camila Cabello.

It all went down while Cabello and her boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, were on stage performing their hit song “Senorita.” A clip started circulating on Twitter where people thought Dewan said to Goreski, “She’s always extra” while rolling her eyes, appearing to reference Cabello. Though others seemed to think Dewan said, “She always sounds good.”

There was enough buzz around the matter that Dewan felt she needed to address it on her Instagram Stories during her car ride home. “I’m getting a lot of text messages from people wondering if I was shading Camila. No! I love her. I love her so much. I’m such a big fan of hers,” Dewan, 38, explained in the video. “I don’t understand what that’s about but no, I love her, love her, love her.”

“Guys, we were bumping and grinding so hard to ’Señorita.’ We’re obsessed,” Goreski said. Dewan continued, “That’s my favorite song! Anyways, clearing that up. Thank you AMAs. That was so much fun.”

She also tagged Cabello and Mendes in the post, writing, “We love @camila_cabello @shandmendes.”

“I love this award show. I come every time I’m invited,” Jenna Dewan said earlier in the night on the red carpet, per People. “I’m so excited. Selena, I’m very excited about. Dua Lipa, I’m thrilled about.” She even shared a clip of Cabello’s performance earlier in the night.

So there you have it. There’s really no drama here. If only all internet drama could be squashed so quickly and efficiently. For what it’s worth, it seems that Mendes and Cabello had a great time last night, too. “Thank you everyone thank you so much!! ❤️ also @camila_cabello. i admire you so much you unbelievable human being thank you for being you ❤️❤️ we love u guys @AMAs,” Mendes tweeted.

Hailey Baldwin Responds to Fans Saying Her Latest Instagram Story Is Selena Gomez Shade

Selena Gomez’s new song, “Lose You to Love Me,” has been out for less than 24 hours, and there is already so much drama surrounding it. As soon as it dropped, fans speculated that the lyrics were about Gomez’s ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, who is now married to Hailey Baldwin. Then Baldwin posted a screenshot of the single “I’ll Kill You” by Summer Walker and Jhené Aiko to her Instagram Stories, and people speculated this was in response to Gomez’s new music. Now Baldwin is slamming those rumors and asking people to “please stop with this nonsense.”

On its official Instagram account, celebrity-gossip outlet Just Jared posted about Baldwin’s “I’ll Kill You” photo and wrote that fans believe it was a “pointed response” to Gomez’s “Lose You to Love Me.” Baldwin wrote back directly but deleted her comment shortly after. But Just Jared has a screenshot over on its website, and it shows that Baldwin wrote simply, “Please stop with this nonsense. There is no ‘response.’ This is complete BS.”

This isn’t the first time that the gossip mill has piled up on Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and Hailey Baldwin. Bieber wrote a message on Instagram earlier this year after fans accused him of marrying Baldwin “to get back at Selena.” “I absolutely loved Selena she will always hold a place in my heart, but I am head over heals in love with my wife and she is absolutely the BEST THING that has happened to me period,” he said.

Gomez didn’t address who or what her new song is about when she shared it. She only alluded to a break she’s taken from public life to focus on her mental health by thanking fans for their support and encouragement. “Thank you all for standing by my side through the highs and lows. I couldn’t do it without you all and I can’t wait to start my next adventure with you. ‘Lose You To Love Me’ is out now,” she wrote on Twitter.

Elizabeth Warren Responds to Abortion Restrictions With Comprehensive Plan to Protect Choice

In the past few weeks Republicans have passed some of the most extreme bans on abortion since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land in 1973. In Alabama, governor Kay Ivey signed a law that would ban abortion from the moment of conception and onward. In Georgia, a woman could be punished for a self-induced abortion with life in prison as soon as a fetal heartbeat is detectable, at around six weeks. For now, abortion is still legal (albeit sometimes hard to access) in all 50 states. But women’s lives are under threat, and presidential candidates need to have a plan to protect them.

On Friday, Senator Elizabeth Warren spoke out about these abortion restrictions—and demanded that Congress pass federal laws to protect women’s reproductive rights. In a post published on Medium, the presidential candidate explained the federal laws she would like to see enacted if challenges from states like Alabama, Georgia, or Ohio were to overturn Roe v. Wade in the Supreme Court, so a woman’s right to an abortion would still be protected.

“Court challenges will continue. And the next President can begin to undo some of the damage by appointing neutral and fair judges who actually respect the law and cases like Roe instead of right-wing ideologues bent on rolling back constitutional rights,” Warren wrote. “But separate from these judicial fights, Congress has a role to play as well.”

Warren went on to outline a plan to create federal laws that parallel the rights enshrined in Roe v. Wade. “These rights would have at least two key components. First, they must prohibit states from interfering in the ability of a health care provider to provide medical care, including abortion services. Second, they must prohibit states from interfering in the ability of a patient to access medical care, including abortion services, from a provider that offers them,” Warren wrote.

The senator then detailed proposed laws that would preemptively stop state’s efforts from blocking access to reproductive health care. “States have passed countless Targeted Regulations on Abortion Providers (TRAP) laws, which are designed to functionally limit and eliminate women’s access to abortion care while not technically contravening Roe. Geographical, physical, and procedural restrictions and requirements. Restrictions on medication abortion. These kinds of restrictions are medically-unnecessary and exist for only one purpose: to functionally eliminate the ability of women to access abortion services. A bill already proposed in Congress, The Women’s Health Protection Act, would provide the mechanism to block these kinds of schemes concocted to deny women access to care. Congress should pass it,” Warren added.

Warren also proposed repealing the Hyde Amendment, which blocks abortion coverage for women under programs like Medicaid and Veterans Affairs. “All women—no matter where they live, where they’re from, how much money they make, or the color of their skin—are entitled to access the high-quality, evidence-based reproductive health care that is envisioned by Roe. Making that a reality starts with repealing the Hyde Amendment, Warren wrote. “Congress should also expand culturally- and linguistically-appropriate services and information and include immigrant women in conversations about coverage and access. Congress must also pass the EACH Woman Act, which would also prohibit abortion restrictions in private insurance. And we should ensure that all future health coverage—including Medicare for All—includes contraception and abortion coverage.”

Warren made clear this is just the beginning of her plans to help protect women’s reproductive rights. “Securing a federal right to Roe and ensuring that reproductive health care is available to every woman in America is just the beginning. We must undo the current Administration’s efforts to undermine women’s access to reproductive health care – including ending Trump’s gag rule and fully support Title X family planning funding. We must crack down on violence at abortion clinics and ensure that women are not discriminated against at work or anywhere else for the choices they made about their bodies,” she wrote.

With this plan, Warren joins Senator Kirsten Gillibrand as one of the few presidential candidates to share a comprehensive strategy for protecting the right to an abortion. Voters, it seems, are on their side. A 2018 Wall Street Journal/NBC poll found that over 70 percent of American voters believe that Roe should not be overturned, and even a majority of Republicans think the law should stand.
