What the Bachelor in Paradise Stars Think About Peter Being the Next Bachelor

The wait is over, people: We finally know who the next Bachelor is. After weeks of speculation and predictions, ABC announced on Tuesday night that Peter Weber, a.k.a Pilot Pete, will be the one handing out roses come January. It’s a surprising choice, to say the least. While Weber definitely was a front-runner for next season, he wasn’t the front-runner. That was Mike Johnson, whose big smile and even bigger heart swooned fans during Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. Even Derek Peth from Bachelor in Paradise seemed to have a strong shot for a while. (The mature way he handled Demi Burnett leaving him for her now-girlfriend, Kristian Haggerty, really impressed fans.) But no: Pilot Pete is the one. I wonder how many windmill jokes he’ll make next season.

We’ll find out in a few months, but until then a few cast members from Bachelor in Paradise, which just wrapped this week, are weighing in on Weber’s casting. Including Peth. “I wasn’t surprised it was Peter, but I was hopeful it would be Mike that was selected,” he tells Glamour. “I know Mike, so it’s obvious that’s a big reason there. I think he would have done an awesome job and everything. But not surprised, because Peter seems level-headed and he has a job, which is a new one for some of our Bachelors. So I’d say it’s an upgrade from some of the past ones.”

John Paul Jones also mentioned Weber’s job when talking about his Bachelor-ship. “I think Peter is a very eligible Bachelor,” he says. “Professionally speaking, he definitely has his career cut out for him, and personally, I think he’s ready to settle down. I think America will really enjoy watching him fall in love again.”

Burnett, meanwhile, didn’t really have a stake in the race like Peth did. She’s close with all three front-runners (Peth, Johnson, and Weber) and would’ve been cool with any outcome. “I’m friends with Derek, I’m friends with Peter, I’m friends with Mike. I’m friends with all these guys,” she says. “So whoever was going to be picked as the next Bachelor, I have no choice but to stan, because I’m friends with all of them.”

Hannah Godwin, whose Paradise ended with a proposal from Dylan Barbour, is stanning Peter, too. “I think Peter’s gonna crush it,” she tells Glamour. Adds Barbour, “I really like Peter. I think ABC had a great crop of guys to pick from, and I think with Peter they’re going to get someone who is super upfront about their emotions and is going to be open to the experience. I’m excited for him.”

Weber’s season of The Bachelor will begin in January.

*The Bachelorette*'s Peter Weber Addresses Claims He Dumped His Ex to Go on the Show

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: This has been one dramatic season of The Bachelorette. Guys have abruptly left the show, others have been accused of cheating on their girlfriends back home, and one guy repeatedly slut-shamed Hannah Brown. Even Peter Weber—the pilot and early fan favorite—had to face claims that he’d abruptly dumped his former girlfriend for a chance on the show.

He’s striking back at those rumors, though. He spoke exclusively to People magazine and addressed several comments that his former girlfriend, model Calee Lutes, made. Lutes alleged that the two of them were serious and even thinking about moving in together when he dumped her to go on television.

“There was a lot of truth to what she said in her story, but there is also a lot of truth that wasn’t mentioned,” Weber told People. “The show had absolutely nothing to do with me ending that relationship.”

According to Lutes, she and Weber dated for six months and broke up around Christmas of last year. She was looking on his Instagram for clues about why he dumped her when she noticed that a producer from The Bachelorette had started following him.

“He absolutely betrayed me,” she said. “He interviewed for a reality dating show while simultaneously planning a future with me. I trusted him entirely and he pulled the rug out from under me.”

Weber said that the timing and the reasons behind the breakup were different than what Lutes has stated. “I was very serious in trying to progress that relationship and move it forward,” he explained. “And she wasn’t on the same page as me. That being said, I wasn’t going to waste her time or my time. But the casting process and my first interview was months after we broke up.”

Lutes has not responded to Weber’s rebuttal.

Peter Kraus and Bibiana Julian Are Reportedly Dating, and I'm Thrilled

Happy days are here again, because Peter Kraus—a.k.a Hot Peter from Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette—and Bibiana Julian, Winter Games queen and contestant from Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s Bachelor season, are reportedly dating.

This news comes from E!, which reports exclusively the two reality stars are “casually” seeing each other. They were spotted at a Miami Heat game on Tuesday, December 4 (in Bibiana’s hometown of Miami) and have actually been friendly for a while now. “Most recently [they] started hanging out alone,” a source reveals. “There is definitely a romantic connection there.”

“It’s very new and they are seeing how things go,” adds the source. “It’s hard because their relationship is long distance, but they are trying to see how things pan out and are definitely into each other.”

I ship this hardcore—more than I’ve shipped any Bachelor couple. In fact, I’ve never really shipped a Bachelor couple until this moment. JoJo Fletcher? A legend, but I was never invested in her love life. Nick Viall? Cared more about his tenure on Dancing With the Stars than his final rose. Peter and Bibiana, though? Wow. If they’re actually a couple, I never have to find love.

Below, a video of Hot Peter and Bibiana sitting together at the Miami Heat game:

Peter Kraus, as we all remember, was an icy-haired dream on Rachel’s season of The Bachelorette who just wanted to drink wine and paint. Who doesn’t want to drink wine and paint?! Now Bibiana gets to drink wine and paint with Peter as he just sits there with his sexy teeth gap and broad shoulders. It’s a modern-day Nicholas Sparks novel.

And it’s what Bibiana deserves. She was put through the ringer on Bachelor Winter Games and Arie’s season. Remember the romantic love nest she set up for Arie that he cuddled in with another girl? Peter would never do that! He’s too busy figuring out Bibiana’s pinot grigio of choice and booking them a session at Color Me Mine. Please let this be real!

Bibiana’s rep had no comment.

You Have to See Princess Eugenie of York's Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos Royal Wedding Dress

If you thought all the Royal Wedding excitement was done for the year, rejoice! Princess Eugenie of York married Jack Brooksbank today. Like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s, the ceremony took place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The bride wore a stunning Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos gown, with a silhouette that had a special meaning for the princess.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding dress features a v-shaped back, which exposed her scar from a childhood scoliosis operation. Ahead of the ceremony, she explained to ITV that she specifically requested a silhouette that showed it off. “I’m patron of [the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Appeal] and I had an operation when I was 12 on my back,” she said. “It’s a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this.”

The gown featured a folded neckline and back detail, as well as a full train. WWD reports that the jacquard fabric is also embedded with symbols for Princess Eugenie: Pilotto and De Vos included a thistle to represent Scotland, a shamrock to represent Ireland, a York Rose to represent England, and ivy to represent her home at Kensington Palace with Brooksbank, Ivy Cottage.

Though many brand names were floated ahead of the ceremony (from Erdem to Vivienne Westwood), Princess Eugenie made it clear in an interview with British Vogue that she wasn’t going to spoil the reveal ahead of her wedding date. “I’m not telling anyone who is making it, but I can say it is a British-based designer,” she said.

It’s pretty customary for a British royal wedding to feature a dress made by a British designer: Kate Middleton in Alexander McQueen by Sarah Burton, Markle in Givenchy by Clare Waight Keller, Princess Diana in David and Elizabeth Emanuel, Sarah Ferguson in Lindka Cierach… Princess Eugenie did concede to British Vogue, however, that her wedding gown was an pretty easy choice: “[The dress] is the one thing that I was really decisive about. As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer, and the look, straight away. I never thought I’d be the one who knew exactly what I like, but I’ve been pretty on top of it.”

Another royal tradition honored by Princess Eugenie on her wedding day: She topped off her with a sparkly headpiece. She chose to borrow Queen Elizabeth II’s Greville emerald Kokoshnik tiara. According to the Telegraph, it’s made from platinum and features a 93.70-carat center emerald surrounded by six smaller stones, and dates back to 1919.

Brooksbank proposed to Princess Eugenie with an engagement ring featuring a rare padparadscha sapphire surrounded by small diamonds, similar to the one her father, Prince Andrew, gave her mother. “Why I loved it so much is it changes color from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie—she changes color, and it’s just so amazing,” he told the BBC.

Peter Kraus Is Returning to 'The Bachelor'—But Not in the Way You Want

When news broke that Arie Luyendyk Jr.—and not Peter Kraus—is going to be the next Bachelor, the response was…tepid, to say the least. It’s unclear why ABC ultimately chose a contestant from years ago as opposed to one of the fan favorites from Rachel Lindsay’s season—including Kraus—but it’s happening. Rumors floated around that producers actually wanted Kraus to be the next suitor, but his unwillingness to commit to a proposal at the end did him in.

Creator Mike Fleiss added fuel to the fire when he tweeted, “Do we really want a Bachelor who isn’t ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about.” Many people took this to be about Kraus, furthering the narrative all was not well between him and ABC.

But if this is true, it’s water under the bridge now. Fleiss took to Twitter last night to announce Kraus is, in fact, returning to the Bachelor franchise—just not in the way you think. The gap-toothed wonder is joining the inaugural cast of The Bachelor Winter Games, a spinoff series, which kicks off during the Winter Olympics.

Never heard of it? Here’s a quick synopsis: ABC describes the show as a romance competition that takes place at a luxury ski resort, where previous contestants “go head-to-head in winter-themed athletic challenges, including the toughest sport of all: love.”

“Yes, Peter will be looking for love—and going for the gold—on #TheBachelor Winter Games!!!!” Fleiss tweeted. Check it out for yourself, below:

On the one hand, this is exciting: Peter Kraus is returning to our TV screens. But on the other, WTF? Kraus needs to be the star of his own show, not just in an ensemble of random hot people snowboarding and making out. Every time he’s not on the screen, people are just going to think, “Where’s Peter? We need more Peter.” I’d literally watch him read a phonebook for an hour. That’s the spinoff we really need, ABC. But we suppose this will do—for now. It is more Hot Peter, after all.

This Tweet Has Everyone Thinking Peter Kraus Isn't the Next 'Bachelor'

A huge portion of Bachelor Nation was annoyed after Rachel Lindsay gave her final rose to Bryan Abasolo. But the silver lining to this was Peter Kraus—sweet, amazing, perfect Peter—became an option for the next Bachelor. And fans really wanted this to happen! With his gapped teeth and his wine nights and his realistic love timeline, Kraus is the Bachelor America desperately needs but doesn’t deserve. I’m not kidding when I say #MakePeterTheBachelor became a battle cry just seconds after The Bachelorette ended.

But it looks like this isn’t happening. Mike Fleiss, the creator of The Bachelor (and, ironically, the producer of two Texas Chainsaw Massacre remakes), tweeted a vague-but-pointed message Thursday (August 17) that seems to suggest Kraus isn’t our next suitor. “Do we really want a Bachelor who isn’t ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about,” Fleiss wrote. See it for yourself, below:

Granted, this tweet doesn’t call out Kraus by name or confirm anything directly, but read between the lines. Kraus’ entire storyline this season was that he loved Rachel and was ready for a serious relationship—but he didn’t want to propose. Kraus needed more time, but Lindsay wanted a ring. This ultimately drove the couple apart.

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are shows that sell a very particular type of fairytale—and that fairytale, typically, ends with an engagement. If Kraus isn’t willing to go there—or at least fake it, let’s be honest—then it probably knocks him out of the running. In this tweet, “settle down” is most likely code for “proposing”—something we know Kraus isn’t keen on doing after just a few weeks. Ergo, The Bachelor (probably) isn’t in his immediate future. Noooo!

People magazine confirmed this even more in its story about Fleiss’ tweet. The magazine spoke to a source who says, yes, Fleiss’ message is “absolutely” aimed at Kraus.

“Peter is every Bachelor producer’s worst nightmare: the perfect guy who cannot be coerced into proposing at the end,” the source told People. “The fact that no one could talk Peter into buckling under and just giving her the ring—and that he wouldn’t play along—absolutely enraged the higher-ups at the show. Including Fleiss, definitely. He is totally on their s— list forever, and there is no way they will reward him with a shot at The Bachelor. No way.”

It should be a crime to use “Peter” and “nightmare” in the same sentence, to be honest.
