Ariana Grande Has Mixed Feelings About Going Back on Tour

It’s been a tough month for Ariana Grande: The singer is coping with the sudden death of her ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, who passed away from an apparent overdose on September 7. Several days after the news broke, Grande’s reps released a statement saying she was taking time to “heal and mend” and “staying close to home.” Since then, she’s kept her fans updated on Twitter, recently admitting to them that she’s trying to get “back to normal” after everything that’s happened. “It’s hard and I’m human and tired,” she tweeted.

One thing Ariantors are curious about is whether or not she plans to go on tour for her Sweetener album. Her aforementioned statement suggests that probably won’t be happening for a while, but on Friday Grande admitted via Twitter that she has mixed emotions about hitting the road again.

“I’m antsy. can’t sit still,” she wrote. “I wanna tour now. Yesterday I [just] wanted to sit home forever but today I wanna do shows and see [you].”

A fan replied to Grande’s tweet urging her to just do what will make her the happiest. “We don’t want you to go on tour and then regret it,” they said, to which Grande replied, “I’d never regret it. My happiest moments are with y’all and on stage and stuff. I think it’s just the [long] chunks of time away from home that are scary to me.”

The singer continued, “Maybe I’ll do a mini [tour]. I can’t do what I did last time right now. That I do know. Whatever it is, I hope it’s okay with you. I just love and miss you. Everybody telling me I need to take time but I’m so antsy.” (Grande’s referring to her Dangerous Woman Tour from 2017, which included the stop in Manchester.)

On Thursday (September 27), Grande worried fans when she tweeted how she just wants one “okay day.” “I’m so tired,” she added.

The next day, she sent out a message apologizing to anyone who felt concern—not that she needed to do that.

“[Just] had a human moment and wanted to confide. [You] know how much I love you,” she wrote. “On some real life shit.”

Kanye West Says He'd 'Smash' His Sisters-in-Law, and People Have Feelings

Kanye West dropped a surprise track called “XTCY” in the early hours of Saturday morning on the East Coast and what would be close to 11 P.M. in Calabasas, California, home of the Kardashian-Jenner clan and apparent recording location of West. The verses seem to be self-confessional, each beginning with, “You got sick thoughts? I got more of them,” and then delving into those aforementioned things on Kanye’s mind. The track was dropped by DJ Clark Kent via Twitter and Instagram, apparently at West’s behest, and was made available via a free WeTransfer file.

“Sitting in the studio with my man @kanyewest and he said.. “Clark, let that new “XTCY”joint go!!!” DJ Clark Kent tweeted.

While there’s plenty to clutch your pearls about in the song, should you be of that mindset, there’s one line in particular that’s really caught people’s attention. “You got sick thoughts? I got more of ’em / You got a sister-in-law you would smash? I got four of them.” Needless to say, it’s not too hard of a stretch to gather who the line alludes to. Given that Kanye’s married to Kim Kardashian, that would make Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall, and newly 21-year-old Kylie his sisters-in-law. Twitter, as ever, came in with some great reactions:

The song drop comes one day after West appeared on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Of the many…interesting…things Kanye had to say during the interview (including his thoughts on Trump’s presidency), the conversation turned to his attitude toward women—specifically, if his views had changed at all since having two daughters, North and Chicago. “Nah, I still look at PornHub,” West said, causing the entire studio audience to laugh.

The “XTCY” track does end with “I thought of all this on ecstasy,” so maybe that’s what’s behind the lyrics…or it could just be Kanye being Kanye. It’ll be interesting to see what both Kim and her sisters will have to say about this one.

Kylie Jenner Pierced 5-Month-Old Stormi's Ears, and People Have a Lot of Feelings About It

Another day, another fierce Internet debate about almost-billionaire Kylie Jenner. Moving on from conversations about whether or not she should be described as “self-made” and her lip filler, people have turned their focus on a new thing: her daughter’s pierced ears.

Yesterday, Jenner uploaded a video to Snapchat of herself giving kisses to her daughter, Stormi Webster, and eagle-eyed viewers soon noticed that the 5-month-old has pierced ears. As with all things Kardashian-Jenner, people were not afraid to share their opinions about this online. But babies with pierced ears has been a hot topic for years, one that bubbles up every time a celebrity is involved. See also: Gisele Bundchen, Angelina Jolie, Kim Kardashian-West, and, yes, even Beyoncé—who took some heat for Blue Ivy having pierced ears at age two.

In the case of Stormi’s ears, Twitter users are particularly fired up for a debate. Some argue that parents should wait until the child can decide for herself whether or not she wants her ears pierced, while others worried about inflicting pain on a baby.

Others defended Kylie Jenner’s decision by pointing out that in many cultures it’s a common tradition to pierce a baby’s ears. “For Latina moms, piercing their baby girls’ ears has nothing to do with vanity,” Roxana Soto, author of Bilingual Baby, told Today.com all the way back in 2013—proving the debate is not just a Kylie thing. “It’s simply a cultural tradition. So much so that I freaked out when I learned my first child was a girl because I had no idea where I would take her to get her ears pierced.”

However, another issue some have taken with ear piercing at a young age is that it’s a very gendered decision to make for another person before they’re able to consent themselves. The tweets below were written before Stormi’s piercing, but are a good example of the argument against:

Wherever you fall on the Kylie-stan spectrum, it’s safe to assume she’s taking great care of her daughter—and her newly-pierced ears.

Twitter Has Strong Feelings About *TIME*'s 'Welcome to America' Cover Amid Border Crisis

President Donald Trump graced the latest cover of TIME magazine Thursday in what is perhaps their most harrowing visual critique of his presidency yet.

For the cover, TIME created a photo illustration of Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer John Moore’s now viral image of a two-year-old Honduran girl crying as her mother was being detained at the border. The president is seen towering over her. While Trump signed an executive order meant to end the separation of families at the border, thousands of families still remain apart and plans to reunite them are murky, Vox reports.

Moore has been photographing immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border for years, but when talking about taking this particular picture he told TIME, “This one was tough for me. As soon as it was over, they were put into a van. I had to stop and take deep breaths… all I wanted to do was pick her up. But I couldn’t.” The picture has already become the most emblematic symbol of America’s immigration debate, and this TIME issue has only further ignited the conversation.

In the hours after its release, many have taken to Twitter to praise the cover, criticize President Trump, and discuss the border crisis.

POWERFUL cover from @Time.

“Welcome to America. Sadly, torturing children by snatching them from their parents – and then sending them off with strangers thousands of miles away is how Donald Trump feels powerful.”

“Hey, @realDonaldTrump, you can hang this REAL @TIME cover on your wall and take down all those fake ones. Welcome to America! #MAGA”

“Setting aside the constant currency of outrage surrounding this chapter of our history rarely does a magazine cover nail it so poignantly #Time”

“Nailed it.The actual new @TIME coverBe ashamed people, this is what we’ve come to.I hope this is retweeted all day and all over twitter every time Trump logs on.”

“Time’s new cover: ‘Welcome to America’ kid… the tiny, innocent, frightened child speaks truth to the Tangerine Tyrant’s corrupt, dictatorial power.”

This One Quote From Bill Clinton's Latest Interview Says a Lot About His Feelings on #MeToo and Monica Lewinsky

Former President Bill Clinton is raising eyebrows after a Monday appearance on the Today show in which, during a segment to promote his new book, The President Is Missing (cowritten with James Patterson), he maintained that his decision to fight impeachment after the Monica Lewinsky scandal was the right thing to do.

But there was one quote in particular that says a lot about how he views the #MeToo movement, which was referenced in a segment of the conversation when NBC News’ Craig Melvin asked whether Clinton would have done anything differently had that scandal happened during the #MeToo era. In one swoop Clinton managed to praise the movement while simultaneously casting doubt with his own concerns.

“I like the Me Too movement, it’s way overdue,” he told Melvin. “I think the…it doesn’t mean I agree with everything. I still have some questions about some of the decisions that have been made.”

In the 20 years since the Ken Starr investigation that turned her into a household name, Lewinsky appears to have done a lot of thinking and analysis about her role in the scandal, as evidenced by her February essay for Vanity Fair. In the wake of the #MeToo movement that is changing cultural views about sexual harassment, Lewinsky opened up about being able to look at the situation differently, while still accepting responsibility for her own decisions. “Now, at 44, I’m beginning (just beginning) to consider the implications of the power differentials that were so vast between a president and a White House intern,” she wrote. “I’m beginning to entertain the notion that in such a circumstance the idea of consent might well be rendered moot. (Although power imbalances—and the ability to abuse them—do exist even when the sex has been consensual.)”

“He was my boss. He was the most powerful man on the planet. He was 27 years my senior, with enough life experience to know better,” she said. “He was, at the time, at the pinnacle of his career, while I was in my first job out of college.”

Clinton, however, is still making it about him.

“One of the things that this Me Too era has done is that it’s forced a lot of women to speak out. One of those women is Monica Lewinsky,” interviewer Craig Melvin says. “She wrote in an op-ed that the Me Too movement changed her view of sexual harassment….Looking back on what happened and through the lens of Me Too now, do you think differently or feel more responsibility?”

“I felt terrible then. And I came to grips with it,” Clinton said. When asked if he’s ever apologized, Clinton said that he hasn’t talked to Lewinsky personally, but has apologized “to everyone in the world.”

“Nobody believes that I got out of that for free. I left the White House $16 million in debt,” he says. “But you typically have ignored gaping facts in describing this. And I bet you don’t even know that. This was litigated 20 years ago, and two thirds of the American people sided with me.”

The conversation was an uncomfortable watch, albeit an important one. Two decades have passed, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t look back and reflect on what happened in hopes of learning from the situation. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be Clinton’s point of view.

Yes, it’s great that he has supported women in many ways during his political career, but that doesn’t absolve him from bad behavior, especially as it relates to Lewinsky. Doing good work and behaving inappropriately are two things that can be true at the same time. But the defensive and smug tone of his responses indicates to me that Clinton is unchanged in looking at the role he played in the situation.

And that’s incredibly disheartening.

As women, we can continue to tell our stories, to speak our truth, to call out bad behavior that has been tolerated for far too long. But when men, especially leaders, refuse to acknowledge their own roles in the culture of harassment, progress will come much more slowly.

The Obamas Shared Their 2017 Christmas Card, and Twitter Caught Some Feelings

‘Tis the time of year to reach out and give back, and former President Barack Obama and the rest of the Obama family are doing just that. Already this holiday season, he transformed himself into Santa to deliver presents to the Greater Washington Boys & Girls Club. And just last month, he brought former FLOTUS Michelle Obama, as well as his royal BFF Prince Harry with him to visit a Chicago high school. But it was the season’s greetings he recently tweeted out that really got Twitter feeling all the feels.

On Monday, Obama wished the world a merry Christmas with the family’s first holiday card since he left office. It prompted Twitter to add a time machine to the top of their wish list: “Please, PLEASE come back!!” some begged. “WE MISS YOU,” others pleaded.

“On behalf of the Obama family, Merry Christmas!” Obama wrote on Twitter. “We wish you joy and peace this holiday season.”

The accompanying photo features a smiling Obama flanked by Michelle, Sasha, and Malia. Some cute little helper elves and a Scooby Doo wearing reindeer antlers (why not?) also pose for the photo, which is backgrounded by a giant Christmas tree.

Honestly, we don’t know that Twitter users have wore their hearts on their sleeves so much since the Obama family released their final White House Christmas card. The tweet quickly racked up 1.4 million likes, nearly 450,000 retweets, and 40,000 comments, many of them begging the then-President and -First Lady to return to office.

Maybe Michelle will change her mind and make #michelle2020 a thing after all. (Hey, the odds are good!)
