Meghan Markle Will Give Her First TV Interview Since Leaving the U.K. on Good Morning America

For those of you who’ve been desperate to hear from Meghan Markle since the duchess and Prince Harry stepped down from their senior royal duties, pay attention.

Over the weekend, Good Morning America advertised the appearance, noting that Markle will share an exclusive first look at her the Disney documentary she narrated, Disneynature’s Elephant.

Narrating the documentary, which follows a herd of elephants as they cross 1,000 miles of the Kalahari Desert in search of water, marks Markle’s first gig announced since leaving the U.K. “She was absolutely intrigued by the elephants and transfixed, especially by the female empowerment side,” filmmaker Vanessa Berlowitz told People on April 2. “It really is all about female leadership. It’s a different form of power—it’s about consensual leadership. It’s also very inclusive, as well—very contemporary.” Prince Harry even made an appearance in the recording studio.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Markle and Prince Harry, who recently made the move to Los Angeles, have been volunteering with Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles organization that prepares and delivers healthy meals to those affected by COVID-19 and other serious ailments. Entertainment Tonight reports that the couple first volunteered on Easter Sunday and then delivered another 20 meals on Wednesday, April 15.

“They told us they heard our drivers were overloaded and wanted to volunteer to lighten the drivers’ workload,” Project Angel Food’s executive director Richard Ayoub said. The couple reportedly followed all social distancing guidelines, staying six feet away from others and wore masks and gloves. “I am blown away that they chose us. They care about our vulnerable population,” Ayoub said. “Our clients are most at risk to contract the coronavirus, having compromised immune systems including heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and most are over the age of 60.”

No word yet on whether or not Markle will open up about her family’s choice to step back from life as senior royals, but we’ll definitely be tuning in to Good Morning America on Monday, April 20 at 7 a.m. EST.

Hillary Clinton Documentary Interview With Director Nanette Burstein

Yeah, and I did not have a lot of time with him. It wasn’t until the end [of the filming process]. I wasn’t sure if I was going to ask him to be interviewed or how important it would be, and then later in the editing process, I realized it would be really nice in the section about her being Secretary of State to hear from Obama. So we went to him, and we didn’t have a lot of time left. He did ultimately agree, and he agreed, like, “OK, I have limited time, and I need to know specifically what you want to ask me about.” And he was agreeable. I knew specifically what I wanted him to talk about, which is what I did, so that did not take a lot of time. And he’s incredibly articulate and he can just sit down in a chair and talk about it and then go about his day.

One thing that I really found interesting is that there’s a lot of talk about Hillary’s close confidant and advisor, Huma Abedin, but she does not sit down for an interview. I assume you reached out to her, so what can you say about that?

I mean, Huma is extremely involved in [Hillary’s] life still, to this day. And Huma was very helpful to me. If I needed to contact any of [Hillary’s] friends or colleagues, they would never call me back if Huma didn’t say, “No, [she’s] not just a crazy person, and yes, Secretary Clinton is OK with you talking to her.” So she was unbelievably helpful and supportive of this project. She just isn’t someone who wanted to sit down for an interview. She’s had her own struggles with the media about her own life and prefers to be more behind the scenes.

Were you personally bummed that she didn’t participate?

I mean, yeah, it would have been nice so then people don’t go, “Why isn’t Huma Abedin in it?”

You filmed in the Clintons’ house in upstate New York, right?

Yes, in Chappaqua. We filmed in their guest cottage.

What was it like being in their home?

They have these two cute dogs running around. It’s not an exaggeration that they love to read and there are bookshelves and books everywhere. They are very down to earth. People think they maybe have this elitist lifestyle and I did not find that to be true at all. They have pretty modest living arrangements, and are very laid back, other than there are Secret Service around, which is a requirement.

Did doing this documentary change your view of the Clintons?

I like them a lot more afterwards. Just getting to know them as people. Look, I voted for her, and I thought she would have made a great president. I thought she made a great senator of New York, but I was never a Hillary-acolyte. I didn’t put her on a pedestal. I didn’t really think a lot about her. In fact, I thought, like a lot of people, “Oh, she seems a little guarded.” And I didn’t find that to be true at all. I found her to be quite approachable and accessible and very down to earth. Even smarter than I had imagined, too.

Burstein’s four part documentary series, Hillary, premieres Friday, March 6 on Hulu. Jessica Radloff is the Glamour West Coast editor. You can follow her on Twitter at @JRadloff.*

Oprah Winfrey Says Gayle King Is Receiving Death Threats Over That Kobe Bryant Interview

Oprah Winfrey is defending best friend Gayle King in the wake of her controversial interview about the late Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash in January.

On February 5, King received backlash from viewers for asking WNBA star Lisa Leslie about a sexual assault accusation made against Bryant in 2003. For the CBS This Morning segment on Bryant’s legacy, King asked Leslie if she felt, as a woman and a basketball player, that the case complicated his contributions. “It’s not complicated for me at all,” Leslie responded. “I have [never] seen him being the kind of person that would do something to violate a woman or be aggressive in that way. That’s just not the person that I know.

“I think the media should be more respectful at this time,” Leslie continued. “It’s like, if you had questions about it, you’ve had many years to ask him that. I don’t think it’s something that we should keep hanging out his legacy.”

After an onslaught of furious reactions from fans and celebrities like Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent, King took to Instagram to explain that CBS had edited the interview in a way she did not approve of. “I know that if I had only seen the clip that you saw, I’d be extremely angry with me too,” King said on IGTV. “I am mortified, I am embarrassed, and I am very angry.

“For the network to take the most salacious part, when taken out of context, and put it online for people who didn’t see the whole interview is very upsetting to me. That’s something that I’ll have to deal with with them,” she said. “There will be a very intense discussion about that.”

On February 7, Oprah Winfrey—King’s longtime friendgave an update on the situation on the Today show.

“She is not doing well,” a tearful Winfrey revealed. “She has now death threats, has to now travel with security, and she’s feeling very much attacked. You know, Bill Cosby is tweeting from jail.

“In the context of the interview, everyone seemed fine, including Lisa Leslie,” Winfrey continued, defending King’s line of questioning. “And it was only because somebody at the network put up that clip. And I can see how people would obviously be very upset if you thought that Gayle was just trying to press to get an answer from Lisa Leslie.” Winfrey also warned against “misogynist vitriol” and online attacks.

“Obviously all things pass, she will be okay,” Winfrey said. “But she hasn’t slept in two days.”

Skims Nordstrom Launch: Kim Kardashian West Interview

If Kim Kardashian West has made one thing clear, it’s that she doesn’t believe in “staying in your lane.” The business mogul and TV personality has tried her hand in everything from makeup to fragrance to digital technology—and in September of last year, she launched Skims, a shapewear line designed to “smooth, enhance, lift, and tone.” The products come in nine shades and are made to accentuate the natural shape of various body types, with sizing from XXS to 5XL. For Kardashian West, longtime shapewear enthusiast, keeping inclusivity top of mind was important from the jump. “I’m not that tan, so I thought, ‘If I can’t find shapewear that’s dark enough for my skin tone—what are my friends doing? What is my daughter going to do one day when she’s older and wants to wear shapewear?'” And Skims was born.

Five months after the hugely successful brand launch that left much of the line sold out in mere moments, Skims’ best-selling collections SolutionwearTM, Fits Everybody Underwear, and accessories (body tape and pasties included) are now available to shop online and at 25 Nordstrom locations—with additional debuts planned on a monthly basis.

Thanks to the brand’s first retail partnership, more consumers than ever can get their hands on the line—and Kardashian West hopes to make consumers more confident in the process, no matter what they’re wearing or how many eyes are on them. “The reality is, not everyone is comfortable. I was wearing this other skirt earlier and I wasn’t comfortable leaving knowing that flashes were going to hit me from all angles. Maybe it’s my security blanket, but if I have my sculpting short on, which I did—it makes me feel better. It makes me feel confident and secure, like I can just get on with my day,” said Kardashian West.

Jessica Simpson Gets Real in 'Open Book' Interview

The “mom jeans” moment? I was globally beaten down for being a size 4!

I felt good up there, I felt confident, and then it ruined the stage for me, and the stage was my home. It broke my home. I’d already had broken moments within a home where I had to walk out of a marriage, but my stage has been like my home since I was like a child. That’s where I could be honestly alone with myself.

I’m so happy that times are changing now and more women are accepted for who they are. People are flaunting themselves at every size, because that’s how it absolutely should be.

I think it’s important for people to know that what I did, giving up alcohol, was seriously the easy part for me.

The hard part was breaking down the reasons why. The reasons why alcohol was my crutch. You know because people are like, “Are you an alcoholic?” It’s like, No. I had a drinking problem. I don’t identify with that. I needed to slow down and I needed to, like, feel things again because there were so many moments that were passing me by. That I wasn’t, like, grasping and enjoying. When your kids are growing up, you only have it for that amount of time, and I just saw my whole life flash before my eyes.

When I went through the divorce [from Nick], I divorced the world—that’s how it felt to me.

As if I let people down. People looked to us as the trophy couple and I was the trophy wife, even though I didn’t know how to use the Swiffer. I tried; like, I mean I was not Betty Crocker and we all know that, but I tried.

With Nick, I tried to handle everything with as much care as possible. He has a family, he’s married. I never want his kids to think something that, you know, there were parts…there are parts of people that’s their story to tell. It’s really the marriage through my lens. People don’t want me lying, they want the truth from me.

I think people respect that I created a huge business.

And that I pioneered a way for all women of all sizes to feel beautiful and also feel like they have style. I am size inclusive. You have to look to people for inspiration instead of trying to criticize them because you’re insecure. You really have to understand how to be able to walk into a room and there be no judgment and you accept them for who they are.

Harvey Weinstein Claims He's a ‘Forgotten Man’ in New Interview

Harvey Weinstein is still in the middle of criminal proceedings on sexual assault charges, is soon due back in court, and has reached a tentative $25 million settlement with some of his accusers (which insurance will cover), but he still thinks he’s a victim in this situation.

The disgraced former movie mogul whom dozens of women have accused of sexual misconduct seems to be looking for sympathy in a new interview with the New York Post. Oh, and he would also like credit for all the work he did for women.

“I feel like the forgotten man,” he said. “I made more movies directed by women and about women than any filmmaker, and I’m talking about 30 years ago. I’m not talking about now when it’s vogue. I did it first! I pioneered it! It all got eviscerated because of what happened,” Weinstein said. “My work has been forgotten.”

Never mind that “what happened” was a whole lot of alleged abuse.

“I want this city to recognize who I was instead of what I’ve become,” he continued. Weinstein used a few examples from his past to try to make his point. “Gwyneth Paltrow in 2003 got $10 million to make a movie called View from the Top,” he said. “She was the highest-paid female actor in an independent film. Higher-paid than all the men.” He also cited “social issues” taken on in movies from his companies, Miramax and The Weinstein Company. “I understood the celebratory nature of the film [Paris Is Burning] and bought the distribution rights,” he said. “The same thing is true for Transamerica [for] which Felicity Huffman got an Academy Award.” (Huffman was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 2006, but did not win.)

In response to Weinstein’s interview, 23 women—including Judd, McGowan, and Rosanna Arquette—released the following statement to USA Today.

“Harvey Weinstein is trying to gaslight society again. He says in a new interview he doesn’t want to be forgotten. Well, he won’t be. He will be remembered as a sexual predator and an unrepentant abuser who took everything and deserves nothing,” The Silence Breakers said. “He will be remembered by the collective will of countless women who stood up and said enough. We refuse to let this predator rewrite his legacy of abuse.”
