Why Eva Mendes Doesn't Share New Photos of Herself and Ryan Gosling on Instagram

Eva Mendes just won best celebrity/fan interaction of the week on Instagram.

After posting a photo of herself on March 3 wearing a pretty floral dress and trench coat (from a campaign she did for her collection at New York & Company), the actor stuck around to respond to fans in the comments section. Usually, that’s a terrible idea, but in this case, Mendes had some pretty awesome conversations with her followers.

There was a lengthy response to one fan’s comment that I’d like to delve into, specifically. “You look amazing, Eva,” user @mandica17 began with a heart-eye emoji. “Just wanted to say how much it means to us fans to be able to talk to you and how great [it] is that unlike many other celebrities you acknowledge us. So thank you! P.s. wouldn’t mind an [appearence] by Ryan on this page.”

Eva Mendes met her partner, Ryan Gosling, on the set of their movie The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011, and they’ve been together ever since. They have two children together: Their first daughter, Esmeralda, was born in 2014, and two years later, they had another daughter, Amada. They rarely discuss each other or their kids with the media, but they’ve given us a bit of info here and there…as a treat.

In her response to @mandica17, Mendes opened up about her “struggle with social media” and explains why she won’t post pictures of Gosling or her children.

“I struggle with social media but I love the constant connection with women,” she wrote in her reply. “I try to post responsibly and try to make sure I don’t portray myself in a way that makes other women feel bad.”

Mendes emphasized that the campaign photo is not a completely accurate portrayal of how she looks. “Instagram can be hurtful in that way. Like with this picture, this is actually a campaign shot and it was retouched. So I want women to know that,” she said. “I want women to know it takes a lot for me to look this way and that I struggle with food among many other things.”

After calling on her fans to call her out for “any bullshit,” she got to the stuff about her partner. “As far as Ryan, I’ll only post flashbacks of things that are already ‘out there’ (like pics from movies we did or stuff like that),” she explained. “My man and kids are private. That’s important to me so thanks for getting that. Have a beautiful day. Sending so much love!” She finished her response with a heart emoji.

Eva Mendes Spectacularly Shuts Down Age-Shaming Troll on Instagram

Eva Mendes just proved that she won’t stand for age-shaming in an epic response to a troll who commented “she’s getting old” on her most recent Instagram post.

The post in question features Mendes showing off newly short hair, which now falls just above her shoulders in a sleek long bob. As per usual, the 45-year-old actress and mom of two looks stunning as all get out in the clip, but unfortunately, that didn’t stop an Instagram troll from attempting to tear her down with a rude comment about aging. Mendes didn’t let the bully’s comment break her, though—instead, she used it as an opportunity to spread age positivity and uplift others. “Yes your right. Thank God I’m getting old. That means I’m still here,” she responded. “I’m gonna be 46 soon and grateful every day that I’m aging. Was your comment suppose to make me feel bad? It didn’t. It makes me feel grateful. So thank you for the reminder that I’m still here, ❤️❤️❤️” she added.

It didn’t take long before myriad fans chimed to support Mendes with messages like, “I think you make aging look beautiful!! At 46, I have no problem owning it!! ? I have 7 kids, so I’m earning this wisdom! ?” and “You’re so beautiful, in and out. Thanks for always inspiring us ??.” Additionally, she received countless compliments on her new haircut, which is the shortest she’s worn it in quite some time.

Props to Mendes for keeping it real and reminding others what a gift getting older really is.

Eva Mendes Just Gave a Rare Interview About Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are a notoriously private couple, so it’s exciting when either of them opens up about their relationship. Mendes last did this in February, talking specifically about how her family celebrates their Cuban heritage. But in a new interview with Women’s Health, the actress gives a little more insight into her relationship with Gosling. Spoiler alert: They’re still very much in love.

In fact, it was Mendes’ love for Gosling that changed her mind about having children in the first place. (The couple has two daughters, Esmeralda and Amanda.) “It was the furthest thing from my mind,” Mendes tells Women’s Health about having kids. Then, she says, “Ryan Gosling happened. I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have…not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him.”

Fast-forward several years, and Gosling and Mendes are parenting pros, though she says they’re “just starting to get out of survival mode”: “I’m starting to feel like a person again.”

She credits both her and Gosling’s families for helping them through this “survival mode.” “We have an amazing support group: Ryan’s mom, my mom, Ryan’s and my sisters,” Mendes says. “It’s a village that helped us. My heart goes out to women who do this alone. I basically come from a single-parent household; although I love my dad, my mom mostly raised four of us on her own.”

Gosling gives Mendes plenty of credit too. In his acceptance speech for La La Land at the 2017 Golden Globes, he thanked her for raising their daughter and carrying their second while he was filming. All this happened in tandem with Mendes’ brother, Juan Carlos, fighting—and losing—a battle with cancer. Gosling ultimately dedicated his award to Juan.

Watching this on screen, Mendes says, was “like a dream.” “What I heard was that he said my brother’s name. It was the most beautiful gesture, and I had no idea Ryan was going to say it.”

Eva Longoria Just Gave Birth to a Baby Boy—See His Photo

Eva Longoria is officially a new mom.

The actress gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named Santiago Enrique, with husband José Bastón on Tuesday, June 19, she confirmed to Hola). Baby Santiago arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, clocking in at 6 pounds 13 ounces. “We are so grateful for this beautiful blessing,” Longoria told the publication. And by the looks of this first photograph, which Longoria and Bastón shared with Hola, both mother and baby are doing well and soaking up plenty of newborn snuggles.

Check out the photo for yourself, below:

Santiago is Longoria’s first child, but he joins three siblings from Bastón’s previous marriage. The couple celebrated the two-year anniversary of their Mexico wedding in May, after dating since 2013.

“It if happens, it happens—if it’s meant to be it would be a blessing,” Longoria told Ocean Drive magazine about having children back in 2016, according to E! News. A year before that, Longoria gushed about Bastón’s children to People magazine. “[My stepchildren have] been such a gift in my life,” she said. “I don’t feel like we are lacking because we don’t have a baby.”

The Desperate Housewives actress first confirmed her pregnancy in December 2017, and in the following months she served up some serious pregnancy style on the red carpet and beyond. For her baby shower, last month, Longoria opted for a pajama-themed soirée that looked as comfy as it was fun. Family and friends joined her to celebrate, including such A-listers as Sophia Bush, Elizabeth Banks, Roselyn Sanchez, and Marcia Cross. (Missing from the action: bestie Victoria Beckham.) “So thankful for the beautiful baby shower, definitely felt the love,” Longoria wrote on Instagram at the time.

Eva Longoria Confirms She's Pregnant With Her First Child

Eva Longoria is one busy woman. Not only is she producing a new family comedy for Fox, continuing her work as a spokesperson for L’Oréal, and starring in the upcoming remake of the classic film Overboard, but she’s also about to become a new mom.

According to E! News, the actress confirmed that she is expecting a baby with her husband, Jose Bastón. It will be the couple’s first child together and Bastón’s fourth. As E! noted, the actress, who is 42, has long been open about her desire to have children one day, but always remained steadfast that she wasn’t in a rush.

“If it happens, it happens, if it’s meant to be it would be a blessing,” Longoria told Ocean Drive in 2016. She additionally told People that she has never felt like she is missing out on motherhood, especially because of her special connection with her stepchildren. “[My stepchildren] have been such a gift in my life. I don’t feel like we’re lacking because we don’t have a baby,” she said.

The actual pregnancy news must come as quite the relief for Longoria’s family, who have long endured fake pregnancy rumors from tabloids for years. Just last April Longoria was vacationing in Hawaii at the Four Seasons Maui in Wailea with her husband and decided to share a few of the sun-soaked moments with her fans on Snapchat. But mere moments after her snap went live rumors began to swirl that the actress and producer was expecting. Longoria was quick to shut those stories down, again taking to Snapchat to say, “I saw some pictures of myself on a boat, and I have to tell you all I did was eat cheese. Everybody is saying I’m pregnant, and I’m not. I was just lactose-intolerant apparently.”

Longoria didn’t stop there. She added, “I just had to share because my whole family is calling me asking me if I’m pregnant. Yes, I look pregnant, but that was just a ball of cheese in my stomach…everybody gets bloated. I’m not bloated today, but this is pre-pancake. I’m about to go eat a pancake.”

Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, and Other Celebs Speak Out on Latina Equal Pay Day

Today is Latina Women’s Equal Pay Day and celebrities like Jessica Alba and Eva Longoria are speaking out in hopes of raising awareness around the issue. According to the National Women’s Law Center, the wage gap for a Latina woman working full-time is typically 54 cents for every dollar white, non-Hispanic men make. That’s in stark comparison to the overall troubling wage gap of 80 cents to a man’s dollar that women make overall.

The date of November 2 was chosen for #LatinaEqualPay to illustrate the ten months extra a Latina woman would have to work to make the same amount as a white man.

Sara Ramirez, of “Grey’s Anatomy” fame, and “Blindspot” actress Audrey Esparza showed their support as well.

In an op-ed for Forbes, Longora lays out proactive steps she believes will help address the problem head-on—from representation in the decision-making processes in the workplace to really and truly supporting women in the workplace.

She concluded: “CEOs, executives, influencers and entrepreneurs: I’m talking to you. Take an honest look at the gender compensation parity in your company, and if there’s a gap, fix it. Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s proven that it makes business sense…Let’s demand more for Latinas. Because we’re worth the whole dollar.”
