Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman, and a Bunch of Other Celebs Filmed Themselves Singing ‘Imagine’

“Imagine all the people, living for today.”

Those are famous lyrics from John Lennon’s hit song “Imagine”—and thanks to Gal Gadot, you can now see a bunch of celebrities singing it online in the hope of bringing people together during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Day six in self-quarantine, and I gotta say these past few days got me feeling philosophical,” Gadot says in the beginning of the video posted to her Instagram. “You know, this virus has affected the entire world, everyone. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, we’re all in this together.” She then mentions a video she saw of an Italian man playing “Imagine” on his trumpet from his balcony to all the other people inside their homes, and how there was something “so powerful and pure” about it.

And that inspiration brought us this new video, featuring stars like Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Zoë Kravitz, Sarah Silverman, Jimmy Fallon, James Marsden, Will Ferrell, Cara Delevingne, Norah Jones, Kristen Wiig, Lynda Carter (the OG Wonder Woman), Jamie Dornan, Ashley Benson, Gal Gadot, and more singing “Imagine.”

Obviously, the celebrities’ hearts are in the right place as they try to keep “entertaining” while all of our individual worlds get a little smaller by the day. But the response on social media was mixed, to say the least. “You are such a blessing to the world❤️,” one fan commented on Gadot’s post. “This is powerful❤️,” another wrote.

Many called on the rich and famous to use their money to donate to causes in need at the moment. “I’m somehow not terribly inspired by rich people singing ‘Imagine no possessions’ from their million-dollar mansions,” one person tweeted.

Others just found the video incredibly awkward to view. “Please watch this and then tell me how far you got before turning it off (for me it was sia, although i’m not even sure it was sia),” writer Tyler Coates tweeted.

However you feel about the “Imagine” video, I think we all know that the internet is only going to get weirder as social distancing and isolation continue. And that’s going to be fun, right? Right?!

The Women Who Run Comments by Celebs Are About to Make Awards Season So Much Fun

Emma: No, it’s, it’s all us. The only thing that someone else does is we hired someone to run the athlete’s account.

For awards season specifically, how might your day differ?

Emma: We’re just a little more tuned into specific people, meaning specific celebrities. So, if there’s someone that we know may be posting something that will kind of gain a lot of traction from other celebrities, we will maybe focus a little more on that.

Julie Kramer: For example, if someone’s nominated for something and we know that they’re going to be posting about it or if we think they’re going to be posting about it, we’re constantly refreshing.

Is there anyone this season in particular that you’re going to be looking out for, paying closer attention to?

Emma: Good question. I don’t know. Anybody who’s kind of, like, the next sensation or someone that the Internet’s very focused on.

Just in general, is there anyone who’s not on social or not maybe very active that you would love to see increase their presence?

Emma: We would love to see Jennifer Lawrence on Instagram. I think she would be unbelievable. Both content and comment-wise.

Julie: Especially around award season too.

Emma: She’s for sure our number one. We kind of also always fantasized about the idea of Jennifer Aniston joining just so that we could see the contrast between her and Courteney Cox because Courteney Cox is honestly excellent on social. So when she came on Instagram, which was really recently actually, she kind of just took off. So yeah, we always love to think of the idea of if Jen were to come on, how that would kind of play itself out.

Are there any celebrities or comments that you don’t cover or sort of is off the table for you?

’The Official History of Celebs Licking Each Other's Faces

Public licking pushes social boundaries. When Bella Thorne and model Tana Mongeau documented themselves giving each other what looks like full on annual dental cleanings in October 2017, they were essentially challenging onlookers. “Go ahead, find us gross,” they seemed to say. “You’re a part of this now.”

Bella Hadid and The Weeknd have also documented their licking sessions on Instagram, and as much as that sentence may make you want to plunge your head into an industrial blender, the pics are closer to adorable than pornographic. Same with Tristan Thompson and Khloe Kardashian, a couple that is famous for many things, not including cuteness. But a September 2018 Instagram video, in which he serenades her, then gently licks her mouth and nose, is oddly tender.

Kim Kardashian, too, has habitually shared images of herself lightly touching her tongue to Kanye West’s face. In 2016, she went so far as to lick him on the red carpet at the Met Gala.

Aggressively cutesy face licking runs in other celebrity families, too. On a December 2018 ski trip, Joe Jonas posted a pic in which Sophie Turner licked his cheek. On the same trip, Priyanka Chopra shared a pic of herself squirming away from Nick Jonas’ tongue. Sometimes, we don’t want to put “family” and “licking” in the same sentence, but celebrities don’t always give us that freedom!

Hollywood’s most prolific celebrity licker is no doubt Miley Cyrus, whose career is littered with instances of her licking people, objects, and the air. After spending the greater part of her career with her tongue outside her mouth, she licked her then-husband Liam Hemsworth at the 2019 Met Gala. Weeks later, they separated.

To be fair, her behavior wasn’t random—she also tried to lick Liam on the Avengers: Endgame red carpet, and once tweeted that she was asked to leave the set of the movie Hotel Transylvania after “buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it.” Miley transcends other celebrities, entering her own category of people who have lost jobs over licking incidents.

Other couples who differ on public licking politics have remained in wedlock—Elizabeth Chambers lurched away from her husband Armie Hammer’s tongue on the red carpet at the AFI fest in October 2017. He may have been inspired by his own work, having licked Julia Roberts’ face in a scene in Mirror, Mirror in 2012. Hammer is a stalwart licker–just one month after his AFI lick-attempt, he didn’t appear to flinch when Robert Pattinson’s tongue approached his face.

Because they’re all at home, sipping hot chocolate in their matching family pajamas.

I can hear you thinking, “Celebrities don’t wear matching family pajamas. They wear Yeezys and thousand-dollar dresses and diamonds.” But I dug through the darkest corners of Instagram to find 27 posts that say otherwise—photos that prove that celebrities are snapping up the best matching family pajamas while the last thing you bought was a sad desk salad. Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, and Other Celebs Sign Powerful Open Letter to Latinx Community

More than 200 Latinx celebrities, activists, and other prominent public figures—including Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, and Eva Longoria—joined forces to sign and publish an open letter to the Latinx community on Friday following ongoing ICE raids, the continuing separation of families at the U.S./Mexico border, and the recent mass shooting in El Paso.

The letter, titled “Querida Familia Latina,” or “Dear Latinx Family,” and written in both Spanish and English, was published in The New York Times, El Nuevo Herald, El Diario, and La Opinión, on Friday, August 16. According to a press release, it was authored by actresses America Ferrera, Eva Longoria, Diane Guerrero, and Olga Segura, director Alex Martinez Kondracke, and activist Mónica Ramírez. Their overall message is one of love, solidarity, and action, and they call on the public to speak up against hate, donate resources as possible to organizations that support the Latinx community, and “hold our leaders accountable.”

“If you are feeling terrified, heartbroken and defeated by the barrage of attacks on our community, you are not alone,” it begins. “We have been smeared by political rhetoric and murdered in violent hate crimes. We have been separated from our families and have watched our children caged. We have been targeted with mass shootings and mass ICE raids meant to terrify us, squash our hope, and break our spirits.”

“But, we will not be broken. We will not be silenced. We will continue to denounce any hateful and inhumane treatment of our community,” the letter continues. “We will demand dignity and justice.”

The letter addresses the Latinx community directly before calling upon its allies for support. “Though real pain and fear are sweeping through our communities, we remain powerful. The indignities and cruelty we have endured will never change the truth that the contributions we make to this country are invaluable. Our humanity must be respected. And, we won’t stop organizing for ourselves, our children, and for the soul of this nation.

“To our allies who feel our community’s pain, we need you. We cannot make change without your voices and action. We call on you to speak out loudly against hate, to contribute your resources to organizations that support our community, and to hold our leaders accountable.”

It closes with a vision for the future: “We ask you to join us in building a better country where we are all safe and valued. May we turn this time of despair into a time of action. May our love for one another be the guiding light in these dark times.”

Signatories include Rosario Dawson, Salma Hayek Pinault, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Zoe Saldana, Wilmer Valderrama, Diego Luna, Ricky Martin, as well as activists Dolores Huerta and Teresa Romero.

Brooklyn 99 star Melissa Fumero also signed.

As did Jane the Virgin‘s Gina Rodriguez.

On Friday, Ferrera also appeared on MSNBC to discuss why it’s important to come together right now, despite what can seem like a constant barrage of terrible news.

Taylor Swift Just Revealed Which Celebs Are Making a Cameo in Her 'You Need to Calm Down' Music Video

Taylor Swift‘s gearing up to drop the music video for her new song “You Need to Calm Down” on Good Morning America on Monday (June 17)—and in true Swift fashion, she’s given us a little clue about what to expect. In uncharacteristic Swift fashion, however, she didn’t make us do any detective work: Instead, she decided on Sunday (June 16) to straight-up announce some of the A-list celebrities making an appearance in the video.

The singer shared the star-studded list of cameos on her social media accounts, which includes some very recognizable actors, singers, athletes, and YouTubers. In keeping with the anti-hate, pro-LGBTQ+ theme of “You Need to Calm Down,” many of the celebrities appearing in the video are proud members of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Asked a few friends to be in the You Need to Calm Down video. Out tomorrow at 8:15 am ET,” she coyly wrote alongside the teaser clip.

Here’s everyone who’s making an appearance:

  • Ellen DeGeneres
  • Ryan Reynolds
  • Hayley Kiyoko
  • Jesse Tyler Ferguson
  • Justin Mikita
  • All of the Queer Eye guys
  • Laverne Cox
  • Dexter Mayfield
  • Ciara
  • RuPaul
  • Billy Porter
  • Adam Lambert
  • Adam Rippon
  • Todrick Hall
  • Chester Lockhart
  • Hannah Hart

It’s quite the list. However, there’s no mention of Katy Perry or some of Swift’s other high-profile friends on the list—yet: The 29-year-old also shared that more of her famous friends will be featured.

One thing we know for sure though: Perry and Swift will definitely not be sharing a kiss in the video, despite all those internet theories. Swift debunked any and all speculation on Tumblr, confirming there is no truth to the rumors that she would never “bait” her fans that way.

“GUYS. That is ABSOLUTELY false. To be an ally is to understand the difference between advocating and baiting,” she wrote. “Anyone trying to twist this positivity into something it isn’t needs to calm down. It costs zero dollars to not step on our gowns. ?✌️”
