Kate Middleton and Prince William Just Made a Surprise, Rare TV Appearance—With Their Kids


Kate Middleton and Prince William just did something they normally don’t do: make a TV appearance. And with their kids—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—no less.

The Cambridges quickly popped up on BBC One’s Big Night In special Thursday night (April 23) to show their support of the carers working on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic. During the #ClapForOurCarers segment of the special, Middleton, Prince William, and their children applauded and smiled for the workers, as millions of people watched from home.

For those who don’t know, #ClapForOurCarers is a movement happening in the U.K. in which citizens literally applaud for the people putting themselves most at risk during the COVID-19 crisis to help others. Something similar is happening in New York City every evening at 7 P.M. ET: People open their doors and windows and clap for doctors, nurses, and other medical workers.

This surprise appearance comes on Prince Louis’s second birthday, which the Cambridges celebrated by posting some cute new pics of the little guy to Instagram. He’s becoming quite the little artist, huh?

Earlier this month, Kate Middleton and Prince William gave an interview to BBC where they talked about how the family is doing in quarantine. Prince William opened up about his father Prince Charles’s coronavirus diagnosis, specifically.

“I have to admit at first I was quite concerned,” he said. “He fits the profile of somebody at the age he’s at, which is, you know, fairly risky. And so I was a little bit worried. But my father has had many chest infections, colds, things like that over the years. And so, I thought to myself, If anybody is going to be able to beat this, it’s going to be him.”

He continued, “I think the hardest thing he found was having to stop and not being able to go and get a bit of fresh air and go for a walk. He’s a mad walker, just loves his walking, so I think he found it quite difficult. Especially, I think also with his mental health, being stuck inside and not being able to go for walks.”

Thankfully, Prince Charles is doing just fine now.

Cameron Diaz Gave a Rare Glimpse Into Her Home Life With Benji Madden and Their Daughter


Cameron Diaz is one of the most notoriously private celebrities—and that was true even before she and her husband, Benji Madden, announced the arrival of their daughter, Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden, in early January.

But she recently popped onto Instagram Live with her friend, Who What Wear‘s Katherine Power, to talk about life as a new mom during quarantine. “I’ve kinda been living a quarantine life anyhow because I have a three-month-old, three-and-a-half month. So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months,” Diaz said, per Entertainment Tonight. “But I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody.”

Nowadays, her routine sounds pretty relatable. “I’m either cooking, cleaning or taking care of my baby—and usually all at the same time,” Diaz said. “I have to cook at night. I know people hate cooking… I drink [wine] every night it’s my wind down for the day. After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed, he’s so good. He’s such an amazing father. I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s father. He’s incredible. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”

While she may not be able to see other people right now or take Raddix out and about, Diaz isn’t complaining at all about motherhood. “I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life,” she said. “I’m so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to do it with Benj and we’re having the best time. I’m thrilled. I can’t believe it.”

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden surprised the world in early January with the news of their daughter’s birth. “Happy New Year from the Maddens,” they wrote in an Instagram post. “We are so happy, blessed, and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family. While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute. Some would even say RAD.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William Just Shared a Rare Photo of Their Home on Easter Sunday


Kate Middleton and Prince William just gave fans a rare glimpse at their home in celebration of Easter. The royal couple usually joins Queen Elizabeth II at St. George’s Chapel for a church service, however, this year will be different as they’re all observing the holiday separately amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic—just like many families around the world.

On Sunday, April 13 the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the occasion by sharing a stunning exterior shot of their London residence, Kensington Palace, surrounded by yellow daffodils. “Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter,” they captioned the post, which was accompanied by a bunny rabbit, a chick emoji and the hashtag #StayHomeSaveLives.

Middleton and Prince William recently gave us a never-before-seen peek at their home office as they continue their royal duties from home. Now, they’re just spoiling us.

Of course, this Instagram is not the only way post honoring the holiday on their page. On April 8, the royal couple surprised a group of teachers and students in the U.K. with an Easter video call—and there were many bunny ears involved.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge aren’t the only members of the royal family to share messages on Easter—and it looks like flowers were the central theme for Prince Charles and Princess Eugenie’s posts as well.

The Queen also shared a message of encouragement in what is reportedly Her Majesty’s first-ever Easter address, according to The Daily Mail. The Queen, who turns 94 later this month, is social distancing at Windsor Castle with Prince Philip. In her speech, she urged the public to continue practicing social distancing.

“This year, Easter will be different for many of us, but by keeping apart we keep others safe,” she said. “But Easter isn’t canceled; indeed, we need Easter as much as ever.

“We know that coronavirus will not overcome us. As dark as death can be—particularly for those suffering with grief—light and life are greater,” the monarch added. “May the living flame of the Easter hope be a steady guide as we face the future.”

Queen Elizabeth II's Rare Address to the British Public Is Making People Emotional


Queen Elizabeth II just gave a rousing speech in response to the coronavirus pandemic, attempting to reassure U.K. residents with a rare, televised address to the nation. However, her words seemed to speak to everyone facing this difficult, unprecedented time.

“I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time,” the Queen said on Sunday. “A time of disruption in the life of our country; a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all.”

The Queen’s own son, Prince Charles, has been diagnosed with COVID-19 but is reportedly “on the other side” of the illness after only experiencing minor symptoms.

“Together we are tackling this disease, and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it,” the Queen also said in her address. “I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge.”

Like Prince William and Kate Middleton, who visited first responders before beginning their self-isolation, the Queen made sure to thank those on the frontlines of this pandemic.

“I want to thank everyone on the NHS frontline, as well as care workers and those carrying out essential roles who selflessly continue their day-to-day duties outside the home in support of us all,” she said. “I’m sure the nation will join me in ensuring you that what you do is appreciated and every hour of your hard work brings us closer to a return to more normal times.”

“I also want to thank those of you who are staying at home,” the Queen added, “thereby protecting to help the vulnerable and sparing many families the pain already felt by those who have lost loved ones. Together we are tackling this disease and I want to reassure you that if we remain united in resolute then we will overcome it.”

She finished the speech in a particularly hopeful manner. “We can take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return,” she said. “We will be with our friends again. We will be with our families again. We will meet again.”

According to the BBC, this is only the fifth time in history that the 93-year-old Queen has addressed the nation outside of her annual Christmas greeting. She spoke from the White Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, allegedly chosen because it allowed for enough space between the monarch and her cameraperson, who wore protective gear. Kate Middleton's First Podcast Is a Rare Glimpse Into Her Life as a Mom


Kate Middleton sat down for her first-ever podcast on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby, where she spoke candidly about motherhood, her own childhood, and the importance of early childhood development.

The unprecedented new interview details the Duchess of Cambridge’s life as a mom to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Princess Louis, as well as how her “amazing” grandmother inspired her hands-on parenting style. Middleton also said that there are specific aspects and experiences from her own upbringing that she hopes to pass on to her own children.

“One is quality of relationships,” she shared. “So, those moments that you spend with people that are around you. I remember that from my own childhood.”

The royal continued, “I had an amazing Granny who devoted a lot of time to us, playing with us, doing arts and crafts and going to the greenhouse to do gardening, and cooking with us, and I try and incorporate a lot of the experiences that she gave us at the time into the experiences that I give my children now.”

“There are also the environments you spend time in as well: a happy home, a safe environment,” she continued. “As children, we spent a lot of time outside and it’s something I’m really passionate about. I think it’s so great for physical and mental wellbeing and laying [developmental] foundations. It’s such a great environment to spend time in, building those quality relationships without the distractions of ‘I’ve got to cook’ and ‘I’ve got to do this’. And actually, it’s so simple.”

Middleton secretly recorded the podcast, which went live on Saturday, February 15, following a nursery visit in Stockwell, London on January 29.

Last month, she also launched the “Five Big Questions” survey, which was created to generate conversation surrounding the importance and long-term impact of a child’s early development.

“It’s going to take a long time—I’m talking about a generational change—but hopefully this is the first small step: to start a conversation around the importance of Early Childhood development,” Middleton told Fletcher. ” It’s not just about happy, healthy children. This is for lifelong consequences and outcomes.”

Selena Gomez's New Album, Rare: All the Lyrics That Are (Maybe) About Justin Bieber


Selena Gomez’s highly-anticipated third studio album, Rare, dropped this Friday, January 10, and it will certainly make her fans happy. Sonically, the record is right on par with her critically-praised 2015 LP, Revival: minimalistic and mid-tempo with spurts of buzzy, electronic energy. The focus on Rare is definitely the lyrics, with subtle production that doesn’t overshadow Gomez’s stream of consciousness. The singer wrote in November 2019 that this record is her “diary from the past few years,” and that’s absolutely apparent.

Hell, we knew this from the first two singles, “Lose You to Love Me” and “Look at Her Now,” alone. Nothing’s been confirmed, but it’s widely speculated both of those songs center on Gomez’s breakup with Justin Bieber, who’s now married to Hailey Baldwin. Lyrics like “In two months you replaced us like it was easy” have fans thinking Gomez is referring to how quickly Bieber began dating Baldwin after ending things with her in 2018.

And now, we have a full album of lyrics to dissect. To be clear, there’s nothing on here explicitly about Bieber—just general musings about heartbreak and healing. But if the album really is a diary of her past few years, Bieber no-doubt inspired some of what we’re hearing. Below, a breakdown of all the lyrics from Rare that could be about him (emphasis on could—think of this like a big fan theory more than anything):

“Rare”

This plucky pop tune is all about realizing that someone who doesn’t realize your worth is not worth your time. The lyrics are general but depict a romantic relationship—so that opens up the possibility this song is about Bieber.

“Baby, you’ve been so distant from me lately,” Gomez sings. “And lately, don’t even wanna call you baby. Waiting up for you upstairs. Why you act like I’m not there?”

“It feels like you don’t care,” she continues. “Oh why don’t you recognize I’m so rare?”

At one point, Gomez flat-out questions why she’s staying with this person. “Baby, don’t make me count up all the reasons to stay with you,” she says. “No reason why you and I are not succeeding at all.” Bieber and Gomez ultimately ended their relationship in 2018, at which point he started dating Baldwin.

“Dance Again”

By far the most uptempo track on the album “Dance Again” is light and fun⁠—centering on Gomez letting go after months of stress. “I kickstart the rhythm,” she sings. “All the drama’s in remission.” The drama she’s referring to could be about Bieber. It wouldn’t be a stretch, seeing as how their relationship was operatically documented by tabloids.
