Ariana Grande Has Canceled Her New Year's Weekend Show Due to 'Health Issues'

Ariana Grande fans will have to wait until a little later in 2019 to hear her sing live: The “Thank U, Next” singer has had to cancel her New Year’s weekend show, scheduled for Saturday night (December 29), in Las Vegas. Tickets for the performance, which would have seated just 3,200 concertgoers, were reportedly selling for more than $1,000 each. According to TMZ, Grande has been battling bronchitis all week and is still working on recovering from it.

The scheduled concert would have been her first since her breakup with her former fiancé, Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson, in October and, preceding that, the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. Both exes had a role in inspiring two of Grande’s newly released songs: “Thank U, Next” and “Imagine.”

On Friday, December 28, Grande herself put up a post announcing the concert’s cancellation: “Vegas, I’m currently working through some health issues and am beyond sorry I won’t be able to see u this weekend. I love u and so look forward to seeing u and making it up to u next year,” she wrote.

Instagram

“Due to unforeseeable health reasons, Ariana Grande has canceled her show at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 29,” the venue confirmed to Us Weekly. “Guests are able to receive a full refund on tickets through their specified point of purchase.”

As of now, no makeup dates have been released, but Arianators won’t have to wait too long as her Sweetener tour kicks off in Albany, New York, on March 18. Until then, however, we’ll just keep watching her recent performances on The Tonight Show and at Billboard‘s Women of the Year event. Fingers crossed she feels better soon.

Camila Cabello Came Incredibly Close to Kissing Nick Jonas on New Year's Eve

New Year’s Rockin Eve was memorable for a few reasons this time around—Mariah Carey’s take two, Maria Menous’ wedding—one of which we’re just catching wind of. Singer Camila Cabello had a lil’ story to tell when she appeared on the Tonight Show Friday evening regarding a midnight kiss of her own that almost was.

The singer was invited to Times Square to perform her solo hit, “Havana.” But as the minute hand began inching toward 12 and the ball began to drop, she looked around and realized who she was with.

“When you go into the ball drop thing, they do not let you bring your family with you… so it was just me, and I had Nick Jonas, and Ryan Seacrest and Mariah Carey and the ball was dropping, and I was like, ‘Am I going to kiss Nick Jonas!?'” Cabello told Jimmy Fallon.

Apparently (apparently!) she only thought about that because that’s just what you do on New Year’s Eve. Definitely no other reason. Nope. Much like many of us faced with the prospect of locking lips with a Jonas bro as the clock strikes midnight, she, um, “chickened out.” Relatable!

“But I thought it would be funny! You know what I mean?” Cabello said. “Mariah Carey did blow me a kiss though so that was good!”

The singer, formerly of Fifth Harmony before branding out on her own, has had similar moments when it comes to celebs, including getting “kind of weird” around Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Gonna say it now: same (should it ever actually happen). What a glorious life, Cabello.

Watch it all go down here:

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber's New Year's Eve Together: What We Know

Even though Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber still haven’t confirmed that they’re dating again, it’s obviously the truth: They ride bikes together, go on lavish trips to candy shops, wear each other’s dirty, sweaty clothes…the writing’s on the wall. And that writing says, “For whatever reason, Selena Gomez has decided to give the dude who wears knee-high socks and flip-flops together another chance.” Don’t try to rationalize it. They have a fetish for each other’s love. The hearts wants what it wants. Apparently, it’s not too late to say sorry.

Their relationship, understandably, has polarized fans. Some ship Jelena 3.0 hard-core; others haven’t stopped crying since the news broke. Regardless, every person who cares about Bieber and Gomez was surprised to hear they weren’t spending New Year’s Eve together this year. Initial reports suggested SelGo was headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to ring in 2018 with a few of her girlfriends—but that’s only part of the story. Yes, Gomez did kick back with her gals on December 31, but Bieber was there too.

And we finally have some details about what went down. Both People magazine and E! Online report that Bieber and Gomez spent the holiday together, but it was good vibes all around—no drama. “Justin and Selena are doing great. They celebrated New Year’s Eve together in Cabo,” a source told People.

According to an insider who chatted with E! Online, “Justin flew in to Cabo on a private jet from Cancun where he spent a few days with his family. He arrived on Saturday evening [December 30] and checked in to an oceanfront villa 10 minutes away from Selena’s villa where she was staying.” Gomez and her friends reportedly had a quiet dinner party Sunday night (December 31), and Bieber stopped by.

“They rang in the New Year together and enjoyed watching fireworks over the ocean,” the source said, adding that their hangouts were “low-key” and “casual.”

A second source told E! that Bieber had a “great New Year’s Eve” with Gomez and that “he’s looking forward to 2018 with her.”

Sounds picturesque to us. Here’s hoping they played “Beauty and a Beat” at the exact stroke of midnight.

Melania Trump Wore a $5,500 Erdem Dress on New Year's Eve

President Donald Trump and his family held a New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago, their private residence in Palm Beach, Florida (which is sometimes referred to as the “Winter White House”). For the occasion, First Lady Melania Trump opted for an embroidered mid-length dress from British label Erderm.

The pale-pink Emery dress, from the brand’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection, is covered in paillettes from its high neck to the mid-calf hem. Clusters of embroidered flowers are scattered throughout the ’40s-inspired silhouette. The style originally retailed for $5,500 at luxury retailer Browns, but is currently on sale for $2,201.26. (It’s sold out on Erdem’s website.)

Though Erdem released the dress with a periwinkle-colored belt, Melania removed it for the New Year’s Eve party at Mar-a-Lago. The resulting look, then, was more ’80s than its original iteration. She finished the look off with pointed-toe stilettos in a matching shade of pink.

This Erdem style is in line with the First Lady’s penchant for dramatic sleeves. (There were the equally draped, bell-shaped ones that made an appearance in that weird viral video of her watching ballerinas, and the puffy sculpted ones affixed to a $2,950 neon-fuschia dress by Delpozo that she wore to give a speech at the United Nations.) What’s more, another member of the First Family wore the designer earlier this year: Ivanka Trump chose a midi dress from the brand’s Fall 2017 collection to give a speech in India, per Footwear News.

Trump’s Erdem gown, with its four-figure price tag, is still available for purchase at Browns.

Maria Menounos Got Married on Live TV on New Year's Eve

Maria Menounos just rang in the new year with a new ring on her finger—a wedding ring, that is. The TV host is officially married after tying the knot with Keven Undergaro on New Year’s Eve—on live television, naturally. In possibly the most extra (we say that admiringly) wedding of 2017, the couple wed just before midnight in the middle of Times Square. Oh, and Steve Harvey officiated.

There are few things less dramatic and just plain magical than a New Year’s Eve wedding. Midnight kisses are kind of part and parcel of the holiday, and getting hitched as the bell drops is a pretty romantic way to get hitch. But how about if you throw in a live television broadcast and a guest list of thousands? Yep, that’ll do it. However, Menounos, who hosts a New Year’s Eve broadcast from Times Square, didn’t originally intend to turn the city into her wedding venue until a producer on the annual show dropped the suggestion.

“When I started working on the Fox New Year’s Eve special, I sat with the producer to go over what we were planning,” Menounos explained to PEOPLE. The producer wanted to include a live wedding in the show, mentioning that they were still in need of a to-be-wedded couple. “She said, ‘Unless you and Keven want to get married.’ And I was like, ‘Ha, ha, no.’ I was nervous but I got in the car and kept thinking about it, and I was like, ‘Wait, this really is kind of perfect.’”

After texting Undergaro (because the groom should probably be clued in!), the New Year’s Eve nuptials were officially happening—with only two weeks to plan!

The wedding was kept as a surprise from most of the couple’s friends and family, making for all the more dramatic of a moment when Menounos appeared in the middle of Times Square in a stunning Pronovias lace wedding dress and said her unforgettable “I dos” in front of the thousands who had gathered to watch the ball drop and the millions watching at home.

“I’ve always wanted it to be super intimate and even though this is the opposite, we can only invite our immediate family, so the pressure of who to invite is gone. This was just so perfect,” Menounos said of the anything-but-low-key nuptials.

Following their larger-than-life ceremony, the couple planned for a small reception later that night and a morning brunch on January 1st, according to PEOPLE.

“I’m excited to be able to call her my wife. It’s been girlfriend for so long that it will be nice to finally, finally be able to say ‘my wife,'” said Undergaro, who’s been with the TV host for nearly 20 years.

The bride summed up their whirlwind wedding, saying how New York City “is going to be such a special place” for them now. “This was not something that would have ever crossed my mind,” she said. “I just feel like God puts everything in our path.”
