Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Set to Host 2021 Golden Globes

Here’s some good news that will have you forgetting about Ricky Gervais’s scorched-earth monologue from this year’s Golden Globes and eagerly counting down the days until next year’s telecast.

NBC announced that our favorite comedy duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, will be teaming up again to host the 2021 Golden Globes.

“NBC has long been the home to two of the funniest people on the planet—Tina Fey and Amy Poehler—and we didn’t want to wait any longer to share the great news that they’ll be hosting the Globes once again,” Paul Telegdy, Chairman of NBC Entertainment, shared in a statement during the 2020 TCA winter press tour on Saturday, January 11.

The pair, who worked on Saturday Night Live together, as well as starred in films including Sisters, Mean Girls, and Netflix’s Wine Country, co-hosted the award show three years in a row, from 2013 to 2015, and were widely praised for their amazing chemistry, witty jokes and unforgettable monologues. (Who can forget that Amal and George Clooney joke? Epic.)

In 2015, Fey and Poehler claimed it would be the last time they hosted. But a public plea to get them back seems to have worked.

“There’s no denying that Tina and Amy’s comedic chemistry is infectious,” Lorenzo Soria, President of the HFPA, said. “We can’t wait to see the dynamic duo return to the Golden Globes stage.”

While Fey wasn’t in attendance at this year’s awards show, Poehler was a presenter alongside Taylor Swift. The duo are taking over from five-time host Gervais, who vowed during the show he would not be returning. Fey has previously won two Golden Globes for 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live while Poehler won a Golden Globe in 2014 for Parks and Recreation.

The date for the 78th annual Golden Globes has yet to be announced.

Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt Reportedly Had a ‘Friendly’ Chat After the Golden Globes 2020

“Brad was in a great mood and very social with everybody—except Jennifer Aniston, who kept her distance at a booth a level up behind Brad,” a source said.

However, the two did interact briefly at the next after-party they hit up: the CAA bash at Los Angeles’s Sunset Tower. “They said hello very quickly,” another source told E!. “Jen arrived after Brad. It was brief, but [they] were very cordial and friendly and seemed happy to be there. They approached each other once they saw each other inside and looked happy as they started to hug and say hello. Jen whispered something to Brad, but it wasn’t in an affectionate way. They both didn’t seem like they wanted to make a big deal about being together in the same room although it was a private party. They were trying to be low-key. Brad left shortly after and didn’t stay at the party long.”

Don’t read too much into this, people. Just because Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt had a friendly conversation at an industry party doesn’t mean they’re getting back together. It’s hard to believe, I know, but you can actually be civil with your exes and not have romantic feelings attached.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight before the Golden Globes, Pitt said he’d welcome a run-in with Aniston and that she’s a “good friend.” Good vibes only in 2020, y’all.

The Exact Blush Margot Robbie Used to Get Her Golden Globes Glow

How far in advance do you plan the look?

The second I see the dress I start obsessing. Sometimes I’ll see it on the day of, which is not ideal, and sometimes it can be weeks ahead of time. The second I know what that dress is, I’m thinking about her and what will work, and zooming in on it. I’ll go down in my studio swatching products and even trying things on myself. Usually I’m down there until 1 A.M. I want her to feel like the best version of herself so it’s my responsibility to do whatever I can to help her achieve that, and I take it very seriously.

Do you tend to make last-minute decisions and changes?

I try not to do too many things last-minute because that takes time and it would be messy. Ideally, when she sits down for makeup it’s worked out and laid out and ready to go.

But with the eyeliner, for instance, I was going back and forth about what color to use at the lash line—in the bodice, you could kind of pull out any color—but I kept veering toward purple in my head because I love purple with a green eye. Then, when I saw her manicure for the night, it was a little bit fuchsia and it told me I was going in the right direction, it tied in beautifully.

You manage to keep the makeup classic and beautiful but with clever, modern twists. What’s the secret?

It’s whether the girls can carry off a little ‘something something.’ It’s not always appropriate, but when it is, it’s really about the wear–that they feel confident to carry it off. If she didn’t feel confident about the color, no matter how subtle I make it, then I’m not going to do it. It’s also about the event. For instance, what I would do for the Met Gala, wouldn’t be what I would do for the Golden Globes. The Globes are generally an event that can have an element of fun to them, but it’s an acting event, it’s not a fashion event, whereas the Met Gala, which is about fashion, would be a whole other vibe.

What are your favorite products to use on Margot?

I never use any mascara other than the Chanel Le Volume mascara–and not just on Margot, on everyone–because I need a mascara that’s going to go on the lash but that’s not going to flake. I can’t be worrying about the mascara flaking when I send them out to an awards and that mascara is very reliable.

Then I love the Chanel Waterproof Brow Pencil, the light blond is the perfect color for Margot, it’s the perfect texture and it serves me well.

My other major go-to product is the Stylo Ombre Et Contour in 12 Contour Clair. That product I pretty much use on everyone when I do makeup, like everyone, because it’s the perfect taupey color that can give structure to your eyes without looking heavy or makeup-y. I can give a little bit of contour to the crease of the eye or under the eye, or wherever the eye needs a bit of pushback. Those are my biggies. After that it’s like, let’s play.

Alex Rodriguez Wrote a Heartwarming Note to Jennifer Lopez After Her Golden Globes Loss

Jennifer Lopez was nominated at the Golden Globes Sunday night (January 5) for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Hustlers. Unfortunately, she didn’t win (Laura Dern did for Marriage Story), but I have a feeling she isn’t sweating it—especially not after the sweet note her fiancé, Alex Rodriguez, posted to Instagram.

Shortly after the Golden Globes wrapped, the baseball veteran wrote this tribute to Lopez:

“Jen, it doesn’t take a trophy, medal, or plaque to identify a true champion. To millions of young women who have watched you and have been inspired and empowered to do amazing things in their lives, you are a champion. For countless musicians, dancers, actresses, and performers who have seen and emulate your passion, drive and work ethic to find their own success, you are a champion. To your children, your family, your coaches, your staff, and your extended family, you are a champion. To everyone whose lives you enrich daily, you are a champion. And don’t you ever forget it.”

Of course, those who follow Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez‘s relationship closely shouldn’t be surprised by this public display of affection. He’s always showing that he’s her number-one fan—whether that’s through being the perfect Instagram fiancé on the red carpet, or just saying the most affectionate words.

“I can’t believe it’s been two years,” he wrote on Instagram in February 2019 in honor of their two-year anniversary. “Only 730 days, which have flown by, but it feels like we have been together forever. We are meant to be, and how much you mean to me cannot be put into words.” He added, “Like you there is none other. Words will never do justice to what the last two years have meant to me. Thank you for always being you, for your unwavering support and unconditional love.”

The Golden Globes 2020 After-Party Looks You Probably Missed

And just like that, awards season officially kicked off with Sunday night’s Golden Globes 2020. As expected, looks were turned—we’re still not over J.Lo.’s giant Valentino dress and Gwyneth Paltrow’s sheer Fendi moment—and there were some killer beauty moments to boot. Keeping with the Globes’ reputation as being one of the more relaxed awards shows of the season, the looks definitely had a dressed-up feel but didn’t feel too buttoned up.

However, after the party comes the afterparties, where celebrities really let loose and have fun with their looks. As is tradition, some stars went straight to the bash into dresses made for going-out, while others pulled a quick-change and shed their gowns for something slightly less formal. From Ashley Benson to Hailey Bieber, scroll on for some of the biggest transformations of the night that you might have missed.

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Had a Rare Public Night Out Together at the Golden Globes 2020

Taylor Swift and boyfriend Joe Alwyn are notoriously private about their relationship. They rarely ever speak about each other in interviews—and while Swift’s music (especially the songs on her latest album, Lover) always offers up lots of apparent nuggets to interpret about her love life, the couple hardly ever appears together at public events.

They broke tradition for last night’s Golden Globes, where, after walking the red carpet separately, they met up inside and sat together for the actual awards show. She chose a floral gown by Etro for the event, where she was nominated for Best Original Song for “Beautiful Ghosts” from Cats. Though he wasn’t nominated, Alwyn (who starred in this year’s Harriet) looked quite dapper in a classic black tuxedo.

Once the red carpet was done, the couple meet back up inside. “Taylor Swift came into the #GoldenGlobes through a back door with Joe Alwyn. Then she and a handful of security guards, as well as a man carrying her dress train, split off separately and went to the bar. They immediately exited through another side door,” L.A. Times reporter Amy Kaufman tweeted.

As is her usual awards show M.O., Swift offered up some great reaction shots in audience—and added Alwyn to the mix. Fans were thrilled, tweeting out all the best moments from the couple. One even thought they spotted the exact moment Swift got inspired for some new music: “How much u wanna bet taylor wrote a song about joe in that second?”

“The media will be saying in 2060 ‘young taylor swift and joe alwyn attending the 77th golden globe awards,'” another fan tweeted, speculating about the future of their relationship.

After the show, Swift changed into a black sparkling dress and the couple hit up the CAA after party. Here’s hoping we get to see more of these two together in 2020.
