Taylor Swift Just Released the Music Video for ‘The Man’

Taylor Swift dropped the music video for her song “The Man” off of Lover bright and early Thursday morning (February 27), after teasing it with a clip that showed what appeared to be a man looking out an office window.

Many fans surmised that the man was actually Swift—and they were right. Throughout the video, she portrays a male version of herself, Tyler Swift, a character walking through life with all the benefits afforded to men.

YouTube

The song is one of Swift’s most overtly feminist hits, with lyrics that dissect the double standards women face in the world—and in the music industry. Take the opening lines, for example: “I would be complex / I would be cool / They’d say I played the field before / I found someone to commit to / And that would be okay / For me to do / Every conquest I had made / Would make me more of a boss to you.”

Swift also directed the video, but this isn’t the first time she’s taken charge behind the camera. She co-directed the video for “Lover” and went solo for her holiday release, “Christmas Tree Farm.” It’s a pretty straightforward interpretation of the song, showing Taylor as Tyler being an angry boss but still receiving praise, manspreading, and smoking a cigar on the subway as if he owns the place.

This Video of Jennifer Aniston Surprising Fans on the ‘Friends’ Set Is So Good

Friends fanatics, I have a dream scenario for you: Imagine you’re visiting the set of Central Perk on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, and Jennifer Aniston pops up and surprises you. Well, this exact thing happened to a group of lucky fans this past week.

Here’s what happened: Aniston was guest-hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which films on the same lot as Friends did, and decided to take a break and pop by her old stomping grounds. You see, fans can now actually tour the set of Central Perk, so Aniston decided to hide behind that iconic couch you know and love and give some visitors the scare of a lifetime. A good scare, obviously.

“The set is actually still here [on the Warner Bros. lot],” Aniston says in the clip. “It’s part of the Warner Bros. studio tour. So I thought, While I’m here, I’ll go take a visit.”

Watch the hilarious video for yourself, below. There is a lot of screaming involved.

Don’t think this means a Friends reunion is happening soon, though. While Jennifer Aniston and several of the cast members have expressed interest in getting back together, nothing is on the books yet. A nonscripted reunion special was in the works at HBO Max (a new streaming service that will soon house all of Friends), but that’s been put on pause for now.

HBO Max chief creative officer Kevin Reilly told the Television Critics Association last week, per Deadline, “There is interest all around, and yet we can’t get the interests all alighted to push the button on it.” He said the reunion, for now, is “just a maybe.”

Hopefully something comes together. But if nothing happens, at least now we can hold on to the dream that one of the “friends” might surprise us on the Warner Bros. lot should we ever visit.

This Video of Kristen Bell Listening to Dax Shepard Discuss the Middle Finger With Their Daughter Is Everything

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are two of the most down-to-earth celebrity couples around, and they’ve never shied away from letting the world in on some of the parenting successes and failures. (See also: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.)

While the couple is pretty protective of their daughters’ privacy—you won’t see Delta and Lincoln’s faces in images on their parents’ social media feeds—they do share some incredibly hilarious family moments. Case in point: A video Bell posted over the weekend in which she is desperately trying not to laugh as her husband discusses the meaning of the middle finger with one of their daughters.

The little girl says that a boy at school throws up the middle finger often. “He says this is ‘f–k,'” she tells her dad. “He says that every time in school.”

“He does? He’s naughty,” Shepard says.

“The teacher says that’s a bad word,” she replies.

“Yeah, that’s not a nice word,” her dad tells her. “You know that that’s a naughty finger, and I never see you do that. It makes me so proud that you know that, yet you don’t do it. Well, you did it a couple of times when you were young, before you knew it was a naughty word. One time you couldn’t get a shirt on in your bedroom, and you let it fly. Then later that day, you were in the swimming pool, and you let one fly. But since then you’ve really curbed it.”

“I have been waiting for this conversation since the day I got pregnant,” Bell wrote on Instagram. “The one where we talk about what fingers mean what when u hold em up. I [am] fidgeting because I am trying so hard not to laugh. It’s excruciating. @daxshepard you handled this brilliantly.”

Here’s a clip of the moment below.

We agree with Bell—well done, Dax.

Mariah Carey's New Video for 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' Is So Festive—and Stars Her Kids

Mariah Carey is the undisputed queen of Christmas. Her 1994 hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become seasonal canon, this year more than ever. The song is currently sitting at the number-one spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100—a product of its ubiquitous airplay this time of year and Carey’s tireless promotional efforts, no doubt.

One of those efforts is a brand-new music video for “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which just dropped on Friday, December 20. The clip is an update on the original nineties clip, featuring Carey dancing in seasonal garb amidst a winter wonderland. It takes festive to a whole new level.

And sweet, too. Carey’s 8-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, make an appearance in the video, as well as mixed-ish actor Mykal-Michelle Harris. I have to say, Moroccan and Monroe’s choreography skills are on point. Maybe we have two future pop stars on our hands!

It’s hard to picture the holidays without “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” but Carey almost didn’t record it. “That’s because it was so early in my career. I didn’t feel, from a strategic point of view, that it was time to do something like that,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “As much as I love Christmas, I thought that the record company was off. Obviously, I couldn’t have been more wrong.”

Mariah Carey also told EW, “I’m excited about the 25th anniversary [of the song]. It’s like everything coming together to give the song a celebratory moment. It’s hard for me to know how much people celebrate this song other than what I hear from friends and just what I read online, or just other things, of people saying that they really get into the spirit with it. That, for me, particularly as a songwriter, is huge.”

Taylor Swift's New Music Video for ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ Is Filled With So Many Adorable Home Videos

Taylor Swift surprised fans this week by releasing a brand new song and music video—and a Christmas-themed one, at that.

On Thursday, Swift posted about the new music with a video asking her cats—Olivia, Meredith, and Benjamin—if she should drop the single she’d just written, instead of waiting a whole year for Christmas 2020. “When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs… just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos ?‍?‍?‍?) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm ?????????????,” she wrote.

The singer also dropped a brand new music video for the song “Christmas Tree Farm,” which features a ton of adorable home video footage of Swift as a little girl with her parents and little brother, Austin. As her fans know, she did grow up on actual Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania before moving to Nashville to begin her music career, and you can see the magical spot in the video. “I actually did grow up on a Christmas tree farm. In a gingerbread house, deep within the yummy gummy gumdrop forest,” she tweeted. “Where, funnily enough, this song is their national anthem. #ChristmasTreeFarm song and video out now .”

How cute is she? I love seeing her open up what might just be her first guitar, knowing what we know now about where that gift led. The song is lovely, too though not Swift’s first foray into holiday music. In 2007, she released the album Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, which included covers of songs like “Last Christmas” and “Santa Baby.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift release if her fans didn’t go deep diving for Easter eggs and clues about future projects. One fan drew attention to one of the home video’s dates. “Uhm… guys. Look at the date. November 23 1989. Taylor wasn’t born yet. 8 days until the end of the month and then 13 days later she was born… 8… 13. TS8 is coming #ChristmasTreeFarm @taylorswift13 @taylornation13,” they wrote.

Admittedly, that’s a bit of a stretch—but we do know Swift likes to hide clues in her songs and videos, so nothing is totally off the table.

People Think Princess Anne Snubbed Donald and Melania Trump in This New Video

If you’re not an obsessive royals follower (like myself) but recently watched the latest season of The Crown, you may be a newfound fan of Princess Anne, the queen’s only daughter. Frankly, I would have loved an entire season just about Anne—we didn’t even get to see that she once foiled a plot to kidnap her!

Generally speaking, Anne is not the royal who makes the most headlines, quietly going about her royal duties without much scandal. But a new video from last night’s NATO reception hosted by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace has the internet all abuzz. In it, Donald and Melania Trump are greeted in a receiving line by the queen, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla as Anne stands to the side. The queen appears to gesture to her daughter—perhaps asking her to join them—and Anne simply shrugs and laughs.

There’s no sound in the video, so we can’t be sure of what exactly is going on between the royals and don’t know definitively if Anne was even meant to be one of the initial greeters at all.

Watch for yourself below:

Of course, the internet had a lot of thoughts about this viral moment, wondering if Anne was in trouble with her mom or if she purposefully removed herself from the receiving line. “The Queen chastising Princess Anne for not greeting Trump and Anne not giving a single shit is the mood we all need to take into today,” one person tweeted.

That wasn’t even the only viral moment involving Anne at the reception. A video of Justin Trudeau chatting with France’s Emmanuel Macron, Britain’s Boris Johnson, and Princess Anne appears to show the Canadian prime minister talking about President Trump (though he is not mentioned by name) and his lateness thanks to an unprompted press conference.

Affection for Anne grew even deeper on Twitter. “People are surprised that Princess Anne can hang? That woman once was the victim of an attempted kidnapping and when she was told to get out of her car at gunpoint she said, ‘Not bloody likely.’ A true bad bitch,” one person wrote.

So do you think this will all be explained in a future season of The Crown? We hope so.
