Ashley Graham Just Revealed the Details of Her Son's Birth—Including His Adorable Name

Ashley Graham‘s 2020 has gotten off to a very happy start. The supermodel and her husband, Justin Ervin, welcomed their first child—a boy—on January 18. And now she’s sharing more details about the day he was born on the latest episode of her podcast, Pretty Big Deal.

“Couldn’t hold back my tears on today’s @prettybigdealpod episode. Nothing prepares you for just how magical and intense giving birth is; I’m so grateful that I was able to deliver naturally in my home with my husband by my side for all 6 hours of labor,” she wrote on Instagram. “Holding my baby for the first time is a moment I’ll never forget. Such a special moment in my life deserved a BIG announcement!”

First, we finally learned the little boy’s name: Isaac Menelik Giovanni Ervin. “My sister Kia and I would have discussions about, ‘Oh, one day, when we have kids…’” Ervin said. “I brainstormed my own name for my future son, and I knew it was gonna be Isaac.” They picked the middle name “Menelik,” which means “son of the wise,” after a trip the couple took to Ethiopia last Christmas (they learned it was the name of that country’s first emperor). He also said that Giovanni (the Italian equivalent of John) is a tribute to both his and Graham’s grandfathers.

Graham says she gave birth to Isaac at home because her “anxiety would have been through the roof” at a hospital. “I have to say, now that I gave birth and I did it naturally and I felt everything, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do,” she said. “There’s nothing that could come my way where I say, ‘Oh, that’s too hard, I can’t handle that.’ I went through laboring for six hours naturally.”

“To go straight from the pool to the bed with our son and just hold him, what a bond,” Ervin added. The couple then brought little Isaac out for his big debut—and Graham nursed him on camera. How cute is he in his tiny camouflage outfit?

Ashley Graham also shared another photo of Isaac on her Instagram feed. “At 6:00PM on 01/18/2020, we welcomed 7lbs 5oz of love into our world. Meeting our son has made our hearts incredibly full,” she wrote.

Many congrats to the happy family!

Kate Middleton Did a Photo Shoot for a 10-Year-Old, and It's Just Adorable

Kate Middleton has had a busy—and photography-filled—week. The palace recently released two beautiful portraits of Holocaust survivors with their grandchildren, taken by the Duchess of Cambridge for a special exhibit commemorating 75 years since the end of the Holocaust.

And today (January 28), she posed for a very special shoot herself. Of course, Middleton is one of the most photographed women in the world. But this shoot was special. The royal popped by the National Portrait Gallery’s Hospital Programme at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, which showcased how the arts help children’s health, overall well-being, and happiness—a cause quite close to her heart. (Middleton is a patron of both organizations.)

While there, Luke Wheeler-Waddison, a 10-year-old heart patient, got the very special honor of photographing the duchess with one of the “rag wreaths” she was given as a gift. (People reports that the wreath will be headed to Princess Charlotte’s bedroom.)

He showed off his Polaroid for the official photographers at the event—and it looks like he did a great job. Talk about a cool souvenir, right? A photographer in the making, if you ask me.

The Duchess joined children and their families who were taking part in a ‘Playful Portraits’ workshop, and helped them to make sets and characters for their own pop-up theatres! ?? The Duchess also visited Evelina’s Beach Ward to meet children who were taking part in the workshop at their bedsides,” Kensington Royal posted about the event on Instagram.

Kate Middleton is known to have a passion for photography. Along with the new portraits released this week, often the pictures Kensington Palace releases of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are taken by their mom.

Middleton revealed recently, though, that she and Prince William probably won’t have more kids any time soon. “I don’t think William wants any more,” she told a fan earlier this month, according to Hello!.

See the Next Four Generations of British Monarchs in One Adorable Family Picture

The British Royal Family is marking the new year and the new decade by releasing a truly rare photo to the public.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace released a new portrait of the Queen alongside her three royal successors; Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince George. The photo was taken in the Buckingham Palace Throne Room by photographer Ranald Mackechnie on December 18.

In a statement provided to reporters, the palace shared that this is “a new portrait of Her Majesty The Queen and Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George has been released to mark the start of a new decade.”

Quite a lot has changed for the foursome since 2016 when their last portrait together was released. As CNN notes, that 2016 portrait was also taken by Mackechnie and released to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. The photo was later used on commemorative postage stamps issued by Royal Mail.

“The royal family were easier than my family to shoot, I have to tell you,” Mackechnie told CNN about the photo in 2016. He noted that the family was “very relaxed” together.

Taylor Swift's New Music Video for ‘Christmas Tree Farm’ Is Filled With So Many Adorable Home Videos

Taylor Swift surprised fans this week by releasing a brand new song and music video—and a Christmas-themed one, at that.

On Thursday, Swift posted about the new music with a video asking her cats—Olivia, Meredith, and Benjamin—if she should drop the single she’d just written, instead of waiting a whole year for Christmas 2020. “When in doubt, ask the itty bitty pretty kitty committee. When they shun you with silence, ambivalence, and judgmental brush offs… just put the song out anyway. NEW XMAS SONG AND VIDEO (made from home videos ?‍?‍?‍?) OUT TONIGHT #ChristmasTreeFarm ?????????????,” she wrote.

The singer also dropped a brand new music video for the song “Christmas Tree Farm,” which features a ton of adorable home video footage of Swift as a little girl with her parents and little brother, Austin. As her fans know, she did grow up on actual Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania before moving to Nashville to begin her music career, and you can see the magical spot in the video. “I actually did grow up on a Christmas tree farm. In a gingerbread house, deep within the yummy gummy gumdrop forest,” she tweeted. “Where, funnily enough, this song is their national anthem. #ChristmasTreeFarm song and video out now .”

How cute is she? I love seeing her open up what might just be her first guitar, knowing what we know now about where that gift led. The song is lovely, too though not Swift’s first foray into holiday music. In 2007, she released the album Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, which included covers of songs like “Last Christmas” and “Santa Baby.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Taylor Swift release if her fans didn’t go deep diving for Easter eggs and clues about future projects. One fan drew attention to one of the home video’s dates. “Uhm… guys. Look at the date. November 23 1989. Taylor wasn’t born yet. 8 days until the end of the month and then 13 days later she was born… 8… 13. TS8 is coming #ChristmasTreeFarm @taylorswift13 @taylornation13,” they wrote.

Admittedly, that’s a bit of a stretch—but we do know Swift likes to hide clues in her songs and videos, so nothing is totally off the table.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom: It’s Time to Stop Treating Parenting as a Mom’s Burden and a Dad’s Adorable Hobby

On the morning of January 7, 2019, my husband was about to become the 40th governor of California, I was going to become the first “first partner” of California, and our four young children were going to take the stage and be thrust into the spotlight with a new level of national attention.

I had a plan for how I wanted to introduce our family to our state. The fight to put on tights and button-down shirts was won, though the fight to take off one coat was lost, and their hair was combed just so. And then, just a couple of minutes into my husband’s inaugural speech, our little Dutch wandered onto the stage holding his binky and his “passie”—much to the audience’s delight and my chagrin.

The media hailed Gavin as “Governor Dad,” and our son Dutch became an internet sensation. I, on the other hand, was asked by too many people to count—in that half-joking but in fact quite serious tone—how could I have possibly let him get up on that stage, and also, why did he still use a pacifier?!

I tried to pretend it didn’t bother me, but the truth is it did. It was a reminder that despite our partnership and despite the support I feel in our relationship, I will always bear the responsibility of our children in a way Gavin never will.

And therein lies a deep truth about the struggle for equality, a truth that can often be hard to acknowledge: Policies and structural changes are essential, but on their own those can’t change our cultural attitudes and behaviors toward women. Until we stop treating parenting as a woman’s burden and a man’s adorable hobby, the gender gap we see at work and at home won’t disappear.

The research shows that when women become mothers they face a motherhood penalty at work. Employers are less likely to hire moms than they are to hire women without children, and when they do hire a mother, they offer her a lower salary than they offer women without children. Studies also show that mothers are considered less committed with their jobs in comparison to their childless coworkers, while men are considered more committed once they have children. In fact, men actually receive a fatherhood bonus, seeing a 6% increase in their salaries once they become parents! It’s not surprising then that my husband’s popularity seemed to soar after his big onstage dad moment!

Princess Charlotte Reportedly Goes By This Adorable Nickname

Princess Charlotte may be fourth in line to the British throne, but most days she’s just a (mostly) regular kid back at school. As if I didn’t already love this little royal, hearing her reported nickname just took my affection to the next level. Royal reporter Katie Nicholl writes in Vanity Fair that Charlotte was called “warrior princess” at her preschool thanks to her “love of the outdoors and her feisty and outgoing character.” We already know that her parents call her “Lottie,” but this seems even more fitting for the little girl who told photographers outside Prince Louis’s christening, “You’re not coming.”

Sounds like Charlotte is very much her mother’s daughter. One of Kate Middleton‘s main focuses in her royal work is showing young children the benefits of playing and learning outdoors. Earlier this year, the Duchess of Cambridge unveiled her “Back to Nature” garden at the Chelsea Flower Show and brought a barefoot Charlotte, along with her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis, to play in the space.

The little princess also showed off her stylish side recently on her first day of school at Thomas’s Battersea with Prince George. Eagle-eyed fans spotted a unicorn keychain hanging off her school bag; it turns out she’s a huge fan of the magical creature. At a royal engagement yesterday, Prince William spotted a child playing with a unicorn toy. “My daughter loves unicorns. Loves them,” he said, per People. “Very cool.”

Princess Charlotte was also spotted with a unicorn earlier this summer while watching her dad and uncle, Prince Harry, play polo. Basically, she is to unicorns as her mother is to her beloved wedges and Aunt Meghan is to delicate rings. Even a “warrior princess” needs a go-to accessory. And what better one than a unicorn, am I right?
