Kelly Clarkson Proudly Revealed How Often She and Her Husband Have Sex

Kelly Clarkson is not one to shy away when it comes to personal questions, so when she was asked about her nighttime routine, she got candid about her sex life with husband Brandon Blackstock.

During a round of “Ask Me Anything” on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the singer sat down with The Voice Season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli who asked her former coach: “What is the last thing you do before you go to bed every night?”

The question seemed innocent enough so many expected Clarkson to reveal her bedtime skincare routine or what TV shows she binges before bed. Instead, she provided everyone with a refreshingly unfiltered response.

“Well, Brynn, I was single for many years so,” she said. “I have children, and how one makes children is generally what I do before bed—that’s not a lie.”

“That’s real,” Clarkson added. “And it’s not weird. It’s natural.”

You can check out a clip of Clarkson’s upcoming interview below:

The American Idol Season 1 winner started dating Blackstock in 2012 before tying the knot the following year. The couple share two children, 5-year-old River and 3-year-old Remington.

This isn’t the first time Clarkson has gotten real about sex with her husband. In 2017, she told Redbook that she was happy to finally find “someone I was truly passionate about, who I wanted to stay in bed with all day.”

“Any time we’re in a discussion about sex with a bunch of couples, Brandon and I stay pretty quiet,” she told the magazine. “To keep it family appropriate, let’s say we’re just a lot more active than other couples.”

In fact, Clarkson said that before meeting Blackstock, she wasn’t sure she’d ever find someone she was genuinely attracted to.

“This isn’t a downer to anybody I dated before him, but I’m just going to be real: I never felt like, honesty, sexually attracted to anybody before him,” she explained. “And I’m not downing my exes. You know, everybody’s different. But there was something about him.”

She added, “I honestly thought I was asexual—I’d never been turned on like that in my whole life. I was like, ‘Oh, that’s that feeling… okay!”

My Life as Sex Worker Taught Me Everything I Need to Know About Money

If I didn’t work, I didn’t earn—there is no paid time off when you’re a sex worker. Sick days meant no money, so I cammed as much as I could, sometimes seven nights a week.

Some nights I made $900, some nights I made $25. Some months I made $6,000, others I made just $1,500. One month I made over $15,000, while a few months I barely made anything. My total income depended directly on how much I worked, how much energy I put into my shows, and—especially—how much time I put into maintaining my relationships outside of business hours.

Over all, in my year and a half as a cam girl, I earned over $100,000.

Step 4: Keep My Clients Happy

Building relationships with all my viewers was critical to maintaining an engaging room, but with some, my relationships were much more complicated. The bulk of my income came from “whales”—regulars with deep pockets and generous spending habits. Whales often tipped large: $125, $200, $300 at a time. Their tips had the potential to grow my income and stature in the industry, but they often tipped unpredictably, sometimes for nothing in particular.

Generally whales wanted more—emotional care-taking, private sessions, access to my personal life. If neglected, they would leave, and the loss of their support could cause my rank on the site to plummet. Whales took up a significant amount of my time, and I couldn’t incorporate them into my standard income calculations. If I didn’t build a relationship with a big tipper, if I neglected them, or if I failed to figure out what they liked fast enough, they’d quickly move onto someone else.

Step 5: Learn My Lesson

Camming taught me how to run a business. I learned to be entrepreneurial, to make a living off my creativity and self-expression. I learned about tax law, self-employment, digital marketing, the importance of a savings account and the difference between gross and net profit. I learned how to take a risk on myself.

More than anything, I learned how much work it takes to make porn and to be a successful sex worker. I learned that everything the movies taught me was fake: no rich clients fell out of the sky, no one mailed me piles of jewelry “just because,” no one gave me a million dollars for a smile.

Being a cam girl was the hardest job I’ve ever had. So, the next time you find yourself enjoying the content that sex workers make, compensate them—pay for your porn and tip your strippers well. Sex work is work. And, as it turns out, hard work at that.

Jason Lewis Is So Much More Than ‘That Guy’ from Sex and the City

Have you ever ghosted someone?

Oh yeah, totally ghosted people long before the term was available. I don’t think that’s always a terrible thing. I think sometimes as we learn the conversations we want to find ourselves in, we realize sometimes that we’re in conversations that are horrible for us and the other person. So yeah, I’ve walked away with no regrets in many relationships. I don’t think you should ever do that with a relationship of substance, but sometimes people won’t let you change the dynamics and you have to walk away.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

Jane Seymour in Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve. Oh my God, I wanted to travel through time for her.

Do you believe in astrology?

I don’t really practice it, but every time somebody puts it in front of my face it seems pretty fucking accurate. I’ll usually say, “Oh wow, that’s weird how well you’ve pegged me.” I am a Cancer with a Leo rising and a Leo moon.

Wait, you know your moon but don’t follow astrology?

I definitely have been paying attention more over the last few years. The only reason I know my moon is because years ago a girl I was dating—who was really toxic for me while I was in a broken space—decided to have my full charts done. My dog didn’t like her and chewed that book up within an hour of my possession of it. She never did anything like that before. And it’s like, “You want me to get rid of her, don’t you, sweetheart?” So that was about all the information I downloaded from it.

Do you find it to be accurate?

It is. I am, on the surface of things, one of the most extroverted people—but if I don’t get my alone time, all you people be damned. I’m imbalanced, so I need both things. I very much appear as an extrovert, but I have a lot of introverted tendencies. Ask my girlfriend.

Sex After C-Section: Sex After My C-Section Helped Me Stop Feeling Like I’d Failed Giving Birth

It turns out that tiny strips of silicone can help reduce the appearance of scars. You place them on top of the wound at night, and over time the scar fades. I wasn’t home a few hours from the ob-gyn before ordering a jumbo pack online. The sooner it came, the sooner I could start getting rid of This Thing.

Before the scar, stretch marks, and baby, my marital sex life was hot. We were the kind of couple who often wouldn’t make it to the bedroom, christening the couch or a beach blanket in our desire. I felt confident as I figured what my husband saw in me was what I saw in the mirror: a former collegiate swimmer with small perky breasts and firm thighs. After my C-section, with grayish purple lines dancing around my nipples and lower abdomen, and a scar cutting through my pubic region, I’m not so seamless, the physical changes a reminder of what my body has been through.

When we were cleared to have sex after five weeks, I was excited to be close to my husband again but apprehensive about how it’d go. I wasn’t feeling particularly seductive—with breast milk leaking out of my nipples and my hair in an unwashed bun, I wasn’t exactly turning myself on. My body and mind had been through a transformation, one that felt far from anything bedroom-related.

But something changed when we had sex, my angry scar on full display. Naked again with my husband, I not only felt worthy; I felt hot. I felt reminded that my body is powerful, feminine. After all, it brought our baby safely into this world, vaginal birth or not.

“Pin me down,” I commanded, hardly believing how confident I felt. My husband grinned, never more willing to oblige. I finally felt like the strong, beautiful woman my husband had been telling me I was. His excitement for me—scar and all—reminds me to embrace myself more fully.

Our scars are difficult to accept. They remind us of something in our lives that didn’t go quite as we expected. But they are also a part of our journey, our story, our beauty. My C-section brought me my giggling babe. It brought me closer to my partner. Perhaps most important, it brought me closer to loving myself even when things don’t go to plan.

When I think about it that way, I don’t hate my scar at all. In fact, I don’t need those silicone strips. I never even opened the box.

This Oral Sex Toy Is Unpredictable—Just Like the Real Thing

Hello from your friendly Amazon sex toy review lady! You know the one.

After my orgasmed-so-hard-I-saw-God review went viral, I got the job of reviewing sex toys for Glamour. So maybe I really did die and go to heaven. Either way, here I am, ready to review all the sex toys in the land from a busy mom’s point of view.

Next up, the very elegant Ora 2 by Lelo.

“ORA™ 2 is about pleasure—sheer, raw, indulgent pleasure,” the product description reads. Hi. Hello. Hey, baby, u up? Sounds like Ora and I would definitely get along. I couldn’t wait to see if this little baby lived up to the description and rave reviews.

I have to say, the presentation in the package was stunning. I felt glamorous just opening it. The blue with gold trim made it look like a precious sapphire ring. I half expected wine, candles, and a Boyz II Men CD to come with it. The shape of the Ora 2 is so unique that I know if my kids ever found it by accident, they would have zero idea what it’s for. Shoot, most adults wouldn’t even know.

Enclosed was a black satin storage bag and a sample of their water-based lube. I like a date who brings presents.

School is back in session so I finally have the daytime alone. Naturally, as soon as Ora arrived, I decided to take myself on a date with…myself. The romantic, “light the candles and draw yourself a bath” kind of date. If there’s one thing you need to know, it’s that this is not a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am type of toy. This vibrator definitely requires dim lights, soothing music, and, as I soon discovered, patience.

The Ora 2 is designed to simulate oral sex with a “newly enhanced pleasure nub [that] rotates and vibrates, like a tongue, but better.” I quickly realized that lube is a must with the Ora 2 because when I placed it on my fairly dry clit, the sensation felt dulled.

At first the rotating nub, while pleasant, did not feel like oral. The setting was too predictable—teenagers-in-the-horror-movie-get-killed predictable, which is cool if you are into that kind of thing. Personally, I like my oral unpredictable.

Luckily there are 10 settings. After playing around a bit, I found one in which the vibrations were quite strong. But what impressed me the most was the variation offered by the Ora 2. A few of the settings were completely random intervals and strengths of vibration, which I found very different from other toys that I have used. The randomness brought a realness to it, similar to not knowing the next move your partner would make. It left me waiting in anticipation for each new sensation, totally different from the last.

If this “oral simulator” had a theme song, it would be D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)”. With its slow build to a possible orgasm, it’s like sweet, sweet foreplay with a lover.

But unlike many lovers, the Ora 2 took its sweet-ass time, I thought. Technically I did have the whole day to myself, but I didn’t have enough time to spend in bed trying to achieve the big O with a new toy. Every time I was close, a slight variation in the pattern would switch things up. (Again, not unlike a real partner.) It wasn’t for lack of trying! I wanted to pat it on its lil’ blue back and say, “It’s okay, buddy. We’ll get ’em next time.”

I was so close, excruciatingly close, but after an hour I ended up Donald Ducking it (you know, no pants, fanny out) to my closet to whip out my old reliable vibrator to finish the job. Bottom line: Make sure you carve out some time to really experiment with this toy. But if it’s instant O you crave, I found the Ora 2 pairs perfectly with a G-spot stimulator.
