'This Is Us' Season Four Finale Recap: Who Is the Mother of Kevin's Child?

Back at Toby and Kate’s house, Kevin and Rebecca have a heart-to-heart. She admits she changed her mind about the clinical trial because she began to view it as “an investment in my future.” Kevin now knows. Rebecca knows that Kevin knows. And we know that World War III is about to break out when Kevin confronts Randall. The scene that follows is one of the most intense this show has ever done. At first, Randall pretends he has no idea what Kevin is talking about, before finally admitting he needed to do whatever was necessary to give their mom the best possible chance. Kevin is furious that Randall couldn’t side with him just this once. Randall tries to walk away, but Kevin goes after him. Then Madison shows up at the house, and Kevin says it’s not a good time. Randall ends up leaving, and Madison blurts out that she’s pregnant. “You’re the father,” she says. “And I know I’m a complete stranger to you, and I know how much you love your high-school girlfriend, but I’ve decided I’m going to go through with this. You don’t know my medical history, but this is kind of a miracle for me. But I need you to know I will not ask anything of you, emotionally, financially, all of it. You can still find the great love story you deserve.” Kevin whispers he might pass out and says he needs some air, but isn’t walking away from the conversation.

Of course, when he goes outside for air, he runs into Randall. The two argue about who’s really been there for Rebecca over the years. Then Kevin says if he was there the night of the fire, he would have been able to save Jack. Randall counters, “But you weren’t there, and when he died, he died ashamed of you. I think that’s the part that really gets you…the shame he felt for you and the pride he felt for me. You’ll never know what it’s like to devote yourself to anyone other than yourself. You’ll pretend but it will just be a performance. A tired, stale performance, like all of your performances.”

The whole thing is awful, sad, and beyond uncomfortable. Kevin then says he used to think the worst thing that happened to him was the day his dad died, but it was actually the day they brought Randall home. Shit. Kevin goes back to the house and declares that he’s all in with Madison. “I’m sick of chasing ghosts,” he says. “I’m all in, Madison. Whatever you need, I’m all in. I want to be a father. I think I’d be great at it.” Madison then admits she’s not just pregnant with his child, but his children. Twins. While this is all happening, we see Cassidy pay Nicky a visit in his trailer, followed by Sophie in Time’s Square looking up at Kevin’s cologne ad. (You just know we haven’t seen the last of them. Well played, Dan Fogelman.)

In the last few minutes, older Kevin—with a wedding ring on—is back at Rebecca’s bedside. His twin daughter is there, too. Nicky’s there as well and wearing a wedding ring. When Randall enters, Kevin puts his hand on his brother’s back. So no matter what’s happened in the time since, they’ll come together when it counts.

Whew. With so much to unpack, we called up Justin Hartley to get more details on those scenes with Sterling K. Brown, my theory about Kevin’s future, and more. Read on.

This Is Us Season 4, Episode 17 Recap: Jack Is Alive in the Future

Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri is one of the most respected universities in the country. How did you decide on it?

IA: We asked where the few most common geographical locations would be for [this kind of trial]. And that was the one that came up.

Sterling K. Brown is from St. Louis. Is there any chance you will be going on location to film at Wash U. in season five?

IA: We have talked about it, and we’ve talked about it with Sterling. It’s still a little bit early as we’re just mapping out the nitty gritty of our season five. But it is definitely something that’s been bandied about.

Obviously there’s hope Rebecca’s condition might be helped by this clinical trial, but we know that things don’t seem to be going so well when they’re at the cabin celebrating the big three’s 40th birthday five months from now. Randall and Kevin aren’t speaking, and Rebecca has just been brought home by local authorities after getting lost. How much will we learn about those roadblocks in next week’s finale?

EB: In next week’s finale, not so much. It’s more stuff we’re going to be exploring when we return. Yes, it’s true, we’ve seen a glimpse of Rebecca down the line a few months from now, but we haven’t seen the whole context of that episode that she’s having. So it’s something we’re going to be revisiting. People are going to get more answers about what exactly is happening there and why that happened to her at that time.

NBC/Will Hart

As for Kevin, will we find out who his fiancé is in the finale next week?

IA: We will not necessarily find out who his fiancé is next week, but we’ll get some big steps forward.

Will there be a time jump in the finale?

IA: The finale jumps all over the place. You’re going to have to really sit there with notes and try to keep up and guess where you are in time.

What else can you say about next week’s season four finale?

IA: I think people will have a lot of the answers they’ve been wondering about what’s going on between the brothers. It really queues us up for our return, which is going to be that 40th birthday episode. And of course, as our finales always do, we’ll throw in a few curve balls that people could never see coming unless they’ve been hiding under our writer’s room conference table.

Will we get more answers on what is going on with Kate and Toby and their relationship?

IA: Yeah, we have a great [story for them] next week. It’s a really special one that gets to a really unexpected place.

EB: Yeah, it’s a really beautiful episode that is written by Jessica Radloff Dan Fogelman himself, and he did an unbelievable job with the script. The actors are unbelievable in what they’ve done with it, and we can’t wait for everyone to see it. It’s a very exciting episode of TV.

The This Is Us season four finale airs Tuesday, March 24 on NBC. Jessica Radloff is the West Coast editor at Glamour. You can follow her on Instagram at @jessicaradloff14.

American Horror Story Season 10: Everything We Know So Far

It may not be spooky szn yet, but American Horror Story season 10 news is beginning to surface. Ryan Murphy—who must be insanely busy with his Netflix deal—has just delivered the first glimpse at his latest horror story…and let me tell you, it’s promising.

Here’s everything we know so far:

It’s happening! But you already knew that. After season nine—an ode to ’80s slasher films—aired, the FX anthology series was greenlit through season 13. At the Television Critics Association winter press tour, FX Networks chairman John Landgraf announced the news and called AHS creators Murphy and Brad Falchuk “the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series.”

There will be 10 episodes. As usual.

The cast list has been posted. First things first: Sarah Paulson returns! Now that that’s out of the way, enjoy this Instagram post from Ryan Murphy announcing who’s back (and who’s new) for season 10.

Here’s the full list (so far?):

  • Kathy Bates
  • Macaulay Culkin
  • Leslie Grossman
  • Billie Lourd
  • Sarah Paulson
  • Evan Peters
  • Adina Porter
  • Lily Rabe
  • Angelica Ross
  • Finn Wittrock

Exciting returns include Bates, Paulson, and Peters, who were deeply missed in season nine. Notably missing are Emma Roberts and Jessica Lange, two major players in the franchise.

But it’s the addition of Culkin in that number-two slot which may prove to be the most interesting choice. While his brother, Kieran Culkin, is killing it on Succession, the Home Alone child star has slowly been making his way back into the public eye.

“I enjoy acting. I enjoy being on set,” Culkin said in a recent Esquire cover story. “I don’t enjoy a lot of the other things that come around it. What’s a good analogy? The Shawshank Redemption. The way he gets out of prison is to crawl through a tube of s—, you know? It feels like to get to that kind of freedom, I’d have to crawl through a tube of s—. And you know what? I’ve built a really nice prison for myself. It’s soft. It’s sweet. It smells nice. You know? It’s plush.”

We don’t know what it will be about…yet. Fan theories aside, all we really have to go on is Murphy’s beachy Instagram post to the tune of Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night.” So what could the ocean have to do with season 10? I’m going to go all-in right now and say mermaids. But you know, the creepy siren kind that lure sailors to their deaths. I would watch the hell out of that.

Keep checking back for more updates on American Horror Story season 10.

What Happens in the ‘Bachelor’ Finale? The Women From Peter Weber’s Season Have Theories

The Bachelor’s fantasy suite episode is supposed to give viewers more clarity about who will be the front-runner in the finale, but this season? Not so much. “It’s insane,” Kelsey Weier, the fourth runner-up for Peter Weber’s final rose, tells Glamour. “It’s insane that nobody knows what happens. I thought by now I would know, and I don’t.”

To recap, Madison Prewett told Peter before the fantasy suite dates began that she wasn’t sure whether she could continue on the show if he was intimate with Hannah Ann Sluss or Victoria Fuller. She didn’t share with him that she’s saving herself for marriage, instead focusing on the fact that it would be hard for her to accept a proposal from someone who was sleeping with other women a few days earlier. Peter understood Madison’s concerns but wasn’t able to give her much reassurance. (This is, after all, The Bachelor.)

Knowing this, Peter still went on to have overnight dates with Hannah Ann and Victoria. And when he met up with Madison for their date—naturally, the producers made her go last—Peter admitted that he had been intimate with the other women. Madison excused herself, Peter followed, and they hugged and cried for what felt like hours. Peter begged Madison not to leave, but she walked away.

So is that it? Or was that just her way of ending their date? Will she show up at the rose ceremony? Bachelor Nation has so many questions—and we have to wait another week for answers.

Even if you want spoilers, they’re not out there. At least not with any certainty. Peter said at the start of this season that the finale wouldn’t be spoiled—which is rare for the series—and so far he’s right.

Is Peter with anyone? Did the final rose ceremony even happen? Did Hannah Brown come back? Did Peter’s final pick leave the show before he could propose? Or did one of his final two drop a bombshell that changed his mind?

At the “Women Tell All” taping, which airs Monday, March 2, Chris Harrison said that Peter season’s “ending is one that no one will see coming” and “if you think you know how the story ends, you don’t.” So with that said, we asked several of Peter’s now eliminated contestants for their best theories. One thing we know for sure: The “After the Final Rose” episode can’t come fast enough.

Tammy Ly

“There are so many different ways this could end, and so many of them are possible, but my best guess is Maddie left and then she came back and Peter is like, What the heck is going on? He thought he let her go, and now he’s going to take her back and they get married. But what if Hannah Brown comes back? My goodness!”

Sydney Hightower

“From about week two, you get a feeling for who someone is into, and Madison was that person. I was like, ‘They’ve got something and I don’t know if I can get there, but I want to.’ You can tell. I think Peter is going to be extremely happy with whichever way he goes, but I always saw a certain energy between him and Madison. He loves her. I know Madison personally; we live in the same state and have had many conversations, and one thing I pride Madison on is her ability to stay true to herself. Her courage is to stay strong to her faith and what she believes [and it] makes me feel like he sees something special in her. I feel she will get [past him sleeping with the other women].”

Kelsey Weier

“Honestly, [my finale prediction] changes every other day. Part of me thinks he’s with Hannah Ann, and part of me thinks he’s with Maddie. I’m friends with both of them, and they are two totally different people, but I could see him being with either one. I even asked Maddie, ‘Is this what happens?’ and she’s like, ‘No, you’re not even close.’ It’s driving me insane because I hate surprises. I don’t think Hannah Brown comes back and that’s just because she was filming Dancing With the Stars. But who knows? As for who Peter’s mother, Barbara, is talking about in that clip we’ve all seen, maybe she’s talking about Maddie since she already met her? But they do the spoilers for a reason. I feel like the producers are trying to sway us one way to distract us.”

Victoria Paul

“I wish I had some sort of idea or inkling on what’s going to happen, but I think I’ll be just as surprised as the rest of the world is. I do think there’s a rose ceremony and a ring. Other than that, I don’t know. The three women that are left are all incredible and each very different. But when I saw him at the ‘Women Tell All’ taping, he looked happy. I wouldn’t be surprised with anything.”

Alayah Benavidez

“I’m seeing different theories and think they all make sense. But the one about Peter being with a Bachelor producer is the most ridiculous one. People are grasping at straws at that point. We see Peter’s connection with Hannah Ann, and we see his connection with Madison. I think it’s one of those two. It obviously doesn’t end in a typical, ‘Will you accept this final rose? Will you marry me?’ way, but I think he’s with Maddie or Hannah Ann. I feel like Peter has a different relationship with Victoria F., and it’s very different from the one he has with Maddie and Hannah Ann. I don’t think a rose ceremony happens on the finale, because of Peter’s reaction to whatever Chris Harrison has to say. There’s no way he just walked into a rose ceremony. I think we don’t even get there.”

Shiann Lewis

“Does he ask anyone? Does he ask someone and they say no, but then he chases after them? Or the contestant chases after him? I truly don’t know. I wait every Monday for a new clip to come out so I can try and put the pieces together. At first I thought Peter’s mother was talking about Hannah Brown in that clip. And then, as the season went on, I thought, Maybe she’s talking about Madison because they had a conversation and there’s tension in the air about everything. Maybe Madison left and they’re like, ‘Bring her back!’ It frustrates me because I want more!”

Lexi Buchanan

“I definitely think he’s with one of the final two, but I don’t know in what capacity. It clearly took a lot to get there and probably wasn’t a very smooth ending. But I think Peter is a really strong person. Even if people want to call him indecisive, he has conviction in his decisions and he’s just trying his best. I’ve watched so many seasons, so how has this one not been spoiled? How does no one know? Maybe the final rose ceremony hasn’t happened? I have no clue.”

Sex Education Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

When Sex Education season two dropped on Netflix in January, Twitter was just as excited as a year ago when the charming British coming-of-age story first debuted.

More of Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield’s chemistry as mother-son duo Jean and Otis Milburn is obviously always welcome, but it was some of the characters outside the sex therapists’ home that were given a chance to shine brighter this season, in particular Aimee Gibbs (Aimee Lou Wood), who goes through an achingly relatable #MeToo ordeal on a public bus that Glamour‘s Jessica Radloff describes as the series’ “most crucial” moment to watch.

Meanwhile, Maeve (Emma Mackey) and Otis’ never-ending drama goes on, Maeve makes a heartbreaking decision regarding her mom, and Adam (Connor Swindells) had a declaration for Eric (Ncuti Gatwa). One of the greatest things about Sex Education is its unflinching forays into topics often ignored on other “high school” series, which is why season three can’t come soon enough. Here’s everything we know so far.

Netflix

It’s happening. Netflix just announced with a lofty monologue from Principle Groff (Alistair Petrie).

Not a lot is revealed in the one-minute clip, but it does look like we’ll be delving further into the relationship between “cherubs” Adam and Eric. Who else can’t wait?

I’m guessing we’ll have to wait until January 2021. It stands to reason that since seasons one and two launched almost exactly one year apart in January, season three will continue the trend. At least a couple of members of the cast have other projects going on at the moment. Anderson will be taking on the role of Margaret Thatcher in The Crown season four. Emma Mackey, on the other hand, will be interrogated by Kenneth Branagh in Death on the Nile.

Fans are freaking out. Let’s just say, the folks on Twitter approve.

Unfortunately, that’s literally all we can say with confidence for now. Make sure to check back here for updates.
