Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Sent the Nicest Thank-You Notes After the Royal Wedding


Just when we thought the royal wedding couldn’t have been any more perfect, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have added one last flourish to the magical event: They sent super-sweet thank-you cards to everyone who wrote them notes of congratulations. As in, everyone.

The Instagram account Royal Letters revealed in a post that the newlyweds mailed out a black-and-white photo with an incredibly thoughtful message to anyone who had written them to say congrats. The cards were mailed directly from Kensington Palace, which is maybe the most exciting address you can get mail from.

Here’s what their note said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”

The photo they included is one of our favorites from the wedding: It was taken by Alexi Lubomirski, who captured their official wedding portraits and snapped the couple looking absolutely dreamy and in love on the steps of Windsor Castle. The official Kensington Palace Instagram account also used it in a post just after the wedding, with a caption that read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday. They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world #RoyalWedding.”

We’re guessing it was one of Meghan and Harry’s faves, too, and we’re jealous of everyone who now has a copy of their very own for their mantlepiece. We also can’t say we’re totally surprised by the classy thank-you card gesture: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep showing how thoughtful and considerate they are over and over again.

Here's Proof Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Still Holding Hands


Those keeping track of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s every move toward each other in order to decode their relationship can calm down: On Thursday, July 5, the royal pair made a triumphant return to their usual levels of PDA and held hands.

This comes about a week after the Duke of Sussex appeared to reject an attempt from Markle to hold hands at another public appearance together, causing many well-wishers to worry that the days of sweet back rubs and interlocked arms were already long gone after only six weeks of marriage.

But on their way into the ‘Your Commonwealth’ Youth Challenge event at Marlborough House in London, Harry and Meghan were photographed walking hand in hand up the venue’s driveway, Harper’s Bazaar reports. Later, while the couple was standing in front of the assembled crowd, the duchess was seen lightly placing her hand on her husband’s arm and smiling. Though the newlyweds mostly kept their hands to themselves for the rest of the day’s events, they continued to share meaningful glances throughout; at one point, photos show Meghan looking happily on as Prince Harry gave an address to the audience.

Meghan and Harry’s return to casual displays of affection at public events after last week’s brief, hand-hold-less break could all come down to royal etiquette. After a video surfaced of the duo having to clasp their own hands together to apparently keep from holding hands at the queen’s Young Leaders Awards at the end of June, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told Harper’s Bazaar that they had done so simply because “it was not the appropriate forum for Harry and Meghan to be laying on the PDA.” Arbiter continued, “There will of course be engagements in the future in which hand-holding and affection is perfectly acceptable, but tonight, in the presence of the queen, the couple showed the dignity and respect such an occasion affords.”

Prince William Just Recreated of One of Kate Middleton's Childhood Photos


Prince William is currently on a royal tour of the Middle East, and to make up for the fact he’s there without Kate Middleton, he recreated one of her childhood photos from when she lived in Jordan. On Monday (June 25), the Duke of Cambridge visited the exact same site in Jerash that the Duchess of Cambridge’s family went to way back in the day. When Middleton was 4, she and her father and sister posed in front of a particular rock, so Prince William decided to take a photo in front of that exact same rock, too, joking that he’d bring the kids next time, according to Daily Mail reporter Rebecca English. As Hello Magazine reported, he cracked a couple more jokes at the site, saying, “Need to come back with the family for this shot,” and “Michael’s looking very smart in his flip-flops,” in reference to his father-in-law.

Later, the official Kensington Palace Twitter account posted a side-by-side comparison of the two photos, writing, “The Duke of Cambridge visits Jerash, the same site that The Duchess of Cambridge visited, aged 4, with her sister and father when the family lived in Jordan.”

Prince William is currently on day two of his five-day Middle East tour, and so far he’s met the Crown Prince of Jordan, Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II, spoken to students at the Al-Hussein Technical University, visited the TechWorks Fabrication Lab, celebrated the queen’s birthday at a British embassy reception, watched a rerun of England’s World Cup match with the crown prince, and met Syrian refugee children who are receiving psychological support services from Unicef’s Makani program, among other events, according to Kensington Palace’s Twitter account.

“Over the next five days The Duke will visit Jordan, Israel, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories – and is looking forward to building a real and enduring relationship with the people of the region,” Kensington Palace tweeted.

Here's the Moment Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Bishop Knew They Were in Love


Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have had no shortage of adorable moments—either before or after their royal wedding for the ages. Case in point: That time recently when Harry, ever so gallantly, stepped in in the nick of time to save Markle from a topple. It’s honestly all a bit much sometimes, but just to compound the cute, the Most Reverend Bishop Michael Curry has spoken out in an interview with Us Weekly about the moment he knew that the two were really, truly in love (as if there were a doubt!).

If you remember, Bishop Curry was the real star of the royal wedding (the couple getting married excluded, obviously). He gave a rousing sermon, the likes of which many in the audience had never heard before, aptly named The Power of Love. Given that he’s pretty much an expert on it, of course he was the right person to talk about the moment he knew the two were 100-percent smitten.

“They look at each other like they love each other. I remember thinking after the sermon, once I preached the sermon, I said, ‘These two people love each other,'” he told Us Weekly. “They look at each other, and their love brought the rest of us together.”

But he wasn’t done yet—he had something even more poignant to say about the couple who once stood before him.

“Their love, even if it was just for a few moments, showed us the power of what unselfish love that gives itself to another can actually do,” he told the magazine.

Well, if that isn’t #couplegoals, we don’t know what is.

Here's Why Meghan Markle Probably Won't Be Prince Louis' Godmother


The great British tradition of taking bets on the behavior of the royal family has its eyes set on a new prize: predicting who will be named Prince Louis‘s godparents.

On Wednesday, Kensington Palace announced that Prince Louis will be christened on Monday, July 9, at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London. The godparents will be publicly announced at the christening.

Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle is barely on the shortlist, at 14/1 odds, but the distinction will also most likely not go to her husband, Prince Harry, either. Instead of naming close immediately family, Prince William and Kate have opted in the past to honor close friends and confidants for their elder two children, and the trend is likely to continue.

Jessica Bridge, a representative from British bookmakers Ladbrokes commented, “As with George and Charlotte, [William and Kate] chose close and trusted friends and aides, rather than immediate family members, and the odds suggest that will be the same with little Prince Louis.”

But the odds are in more people’s favor than you might think, since the children of the royal family take more than two godparents. Princess Charlotte has five godparents and Prince George, as the heir to the throne, has seven.

According to Ladbrokes, the favorites for the role of godparent include longtime staff members to the royal family. Tiggy Pettifer, former assistant and nanny to William and Harry, is listed at 2/1 odds, and William’s most trusted aide, former private secretary Miguel Head, comes in at 5/4.

At 3/1, William’s stepsister Laura Lopes, daughter of Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is next most likely, followed by Kate’s former secretary Rebecca Priestly, at 4/1. Friends of the royal family David Jardine-Paterson and Hugh van Cutsem both come from families that have had members selected to be godparents to Prince George and rank at 5/1.

Princess Diana’s sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorquodale are considered 6/1 odds. Farther down the list, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are at 7/1 odds, and Kate’s siblings Pippa and James Middleton trail at 10/1 odds.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's First Big Trip Abroad Sounds So Fun


Newlyweds Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will travel to Dublin next month, their first international trip together since their honeymoon. Kensington Palace confirmed on Tuesday (June 19) that the trip will take place on July 10 and 11 and that “this visit is at the request of Her Majesty’s Government.” Vanity Fair is reporting this trip will serve as a “mini-moon” of sorts for the couple.

“The Duke and Duchess are looking forward to learning more about Ireland’s history and experiencing its rich culture, as well as meeting the people who are shaping the country’s future,” Kensington Palace said in a statement. “Full details of the visit will be announced in due course.”

Even though Markle has only just joined the royal family officially, she’s no stranger to Ireland. The Duchess of Sussex visited Northern Ireland with Prince Harry recently with a trip to Belfast as a part of the couple’s tour of the U.K. in advance of their May 19 wedding. She also visited the country before Kensington Palace was even a part of her life: According to People, Markle traveled to Dublin to accept an award from Trinity College in 2013 and was even spotted expertly pouring a pint of Guinness on that trip.

Details of their visit have not yet been announced, but a trip to the Guinness Storehouse, which details the brewing process and history of Dublin’s most notorious beverage, is on the table, People reports.

Markle and Prince Harry will also travel to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand later this year in their first royal tour as a married couple. Markle will also be joining her husband at the Invictus Games in Sydney, which take place from October 20 through 27, and the tour will likely take place near those dates. The 2018 Games will mark the fifth year of Prince Harry’s competitive sporting event for wounded veterans, but the first year he’ll be traveling to the event as a married man.
