Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Sent the Nicest Thank-You Notes After the Royal Wedding

Just when we thought the royal wedding couldn’t have been any more perfect, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have added one last flourish to the magical event: They sent super-sweet thank-you cards to everyone who wrote them notes of congratulations. As in, everyone.

The Instagram account Royal Letters revealed in a post that the newlyweds mailed out a black-and-white photo with an incredibly thoughtful message to anyone who had written them to say congrats. The cards were mailed directly from Kensington Palace, which is maybe the most exciting address you can get mail from.

Here’s what their note said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”

The photo they included is one of our favorites from the wedding: It was taken by Alexi Lubomirski, who captured their official wedding portraits and snapped the couple looking absolutely dreamy and in love on the steps of Windsor Castle. The official Kensington Palace Instagram account also used it in a post just after the wedding, with a caption that read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday. They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world #RoyalWedding.”

We’re guessing it was one of Meghan and Harry’s faves, too, and we’re jealous of everyone who now has a copy of their very own for their mantlepiece. We also can’t say we’re totally surprised by the classy thank-you card gesture: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep showing how thoughtful and considerate they are over and over again.

Women Ages 5 to 75 Answer the Question: What's the Nicest Thing Someone Has Ever Done for You?

Quick: Can you think of the nicest thing someone’s done for you in the last week? What about the past year? Your entire life? That’s exactly what we asked for the newest episode of our video series in which we ask one question to 70 women spanning the ages of five to 75. We’ve already asked what’s the most expensive thing you’ve purchased, what advice do you have for other women, and what was the scariest moment of your life.

This time we asked the large group of women to think about the kind actions other people have done for them. And as you can imagine, the answers run the gamut. While some of the actions these women recall are relatively small (getting a card from a friend after a bad day) and others are pretty big (parents paying for your college education), it’s clear the gratitude felt by each woman is equally strong.

Here are some of our favorite answers (though, honestly, they’re all incredibly sweet and worth watching the full video to hear):

“My mommy taking me to school every day.” —age 5

“They played with me when I had nobody to play with.” —age 7

“When I was asked to become a godmother.” —age 16

“My parents paying for my college tuition. I owe them big time.” —age 20 (This one was understandably repeated several times by women of all ages.)

“My stepfather taking responsibility and taking care of me.” —age 28

“One of my friends gave me transportation fare and lunch for three weeks while I started my new job.” —age 30

“My boyfriend kept track of the mileage I ran on the treadmill.” —age 43

“My husband paid off all my credit card debt.” —age 52

“My parents…giving me life.” —age 54

“Somebody made a YouTube video for me, telling me how great my life has been.” —age 60

“Forgive me when I did something wrong.” —age 66

“Small things—taking my shoes to the shoemaker without asking me.” —age 67

“Someone said to me that I should go see a cardiologist, because my heart was in bad shape.” —age 70

Though they’re certainly no statistically significant sample, it’s fascinating to hear how our perspectives change over the course of our lives and what we consider to be “kind” during different parts of our lives. Adele Wrote the Nicest Essay About Her ‘Goofball’ Friend Rihanna

Rihanna and Adele are two music queens in their own rights—and their love for each other is palpable. In 2012, RiRi said Adele didn’t “know the depth of [her] affection” toward her and that she became “so attached” to her album, 21. Adele’s said similar things about Rihanna—but none are more wonderful than the tribute she just wrote for the “Diamonds” singer in light of Time magazine dubbing Rih one of its 100 most influential people.

“I actually can’t remember the first time I met Rihanna; I was probably numb from the shock of it,” the “Hello” singer wrote in her blurb. “Whenever I’ve met her, she’s been the most gracious, loyal, and funny goofball of an icon. She glows like when someone’s taken a picture with a flash and you’re dazed for a few minutes after. But it’s also very clear in that glow that she genuinely doesn’t give a f-ck; she’s fearless and full of all the right kind of attitude to be everything that she is and will be forever.”

Adele went on to describe Rihanna’s song “Pon de Replay” as an “absolute banger” (accurate) and praised the Fenty maestro for blazing her own trail in the industry. “She has designed and conquered an entire lane of her own. The innovative and groundbreaking world of Rihanna that no one else will ever be safe in and get away with copying,” Adele wrote. “She makes her own rules and bends ours.”

So…does all this love mean a collaboration is in the works? Take my money now, if so.

Olivia Munn Just Cleared Up Rumors She's Dating Chris Pratt in the Nicest Way

Breakups can be the worst—even if you’re a celeb with what sometimes seems to be endless access to rejuvenating beach vacations and relaxing spa treatments. (We normals have to make do with Two-Buck Chuck and a jade facial roller, but life, you know?) What definitely isn’t on celebrities’ sides during these times of trial and tribulation is the very energetic tabloid press, which loves a good story—even when it sometimes doesn’t check out. Such was the case with Olivia Munn, Anna Faris, and Chris Pratt, the love triangle that never was.

When Pratt filed for divorce in December after months of separation, we all knew the ol’ rumor mill had already been warming up. After some tabloids reported at the beginning of January that Munn and Pratt were “secretly dating” and that Faris was “furious” about it (which, can you even “secretly date” in Hollywood?), Munn took it upon herself to reach out to Faris and clear the air. What follows—thanks to Munn’s Instagram story Saturday evening—is a master class in sisterhood and emoji use.

“Hello!” she posted, the first of a series of story slides. “1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup. 2. Not every woman is “furious” at another woman for dating her ex. 3. So even if I was dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong. 4. Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think. 5. Chris and I would have a horrible celebrity name.”

Here she gifts us with the options: “Crolivia. Prunn. Chrisivia. Olipratt.”

And Munn has receipts to prove it. The next picture is a text conversation between Munn and Faris that is beyond delightful.

“Hey there!” Munn texted. “Sooo… I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth. I’m not sure you already know it’s not true, or maybe didn’t care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it’s not true. Anyway, I hope you had an amazing holiday and an even better 2018 ???✨??”

Faris responded in kind—and didn’t live any read receipts lingering for long, judging by the lack of timestamp between the two messages.

“Hi!!!!,” she texted back. “Oh my god-this town is so fucking crazy-you are so sweet to text-I love you-having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled ?????-let’s please catch up soon”

If “?????” is code for “female solidarity is literally the best,” we’re here for it.

Barack Obama Has Nicest Message For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

On Monday, the world was giddy with excitement over the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finally engaged. And it appears we’re not only ones excited for the impending nuptials: former president Barack Obama shared his joy in a tweet that read, “Michelle and I are delighted to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement. We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together.”

The congratulatory note comes as little surprise, as the former POTUS has always had a solid relationship with the royal. Even after Obama left office he made time to stop in and visit his old pal Harry at Kensington Palace in May, where the two “discussed support for veterans, mental health, conservation, empowering young people, and the work of their respective foundation,” according to a tweet sent by the palace. The pair also kicked it at the Invictus Games earlier this year.

Prince Harry, 33, and the 36-year-old actress announced their engagement early Monday, but it actually happened earlier this month in London over a roasted chicken. Immediately following the reveal, Kensington Palace shared remarks made by several members of the royal family, including Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton who said, “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.” Prince Harry’s father, Prince Charles, also shared a statement with his wife Camilla saying, “We’re thrilled. We’re both thrilled. We hope they’ll be very happy indeed.” And of course Harry’s grandparents, the Queen of England and Prince Philip, were overjoyed with the news saying they’re delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.

Now we can only hope that the Obamas make an appearance at the royal wedding this spring alongside Meghan and Harry’s other famous friends.
