Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Sent Sweet Holiday Thank-You Notes to Fans

While the rest of us are still rummaging around for that box of notecards in the back of our closets to write our holiday thank-you notes (hey, we’re still—barely—under four weeks from Christmas!), there are two people on this planet who have it together: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. Not only are they actual royalty, but they’re also royally polite. The two have already sent out thank-you cards not just to their family members (we assume), but to all the fans who sent holiday greetings and presents their way.

The two love going a little candid with the portraits they use to front their cards—remember when they used that gorgeous casual shot from their wedding for last year’s Christmas cards?—and the follow-up note was no different. The picture they chose was a real ~~ moment ~~ from their royal tour, featuring Markle holding an umbrella over a charmingly rain-spattered Harry as he speaks into a microphone.

One recipient posted the pics to Instagram, so yeah, there are receipts: “Lovely reply from TRH the Duke and Duchess of Sussex thanking me for sending my Christmas and New year wishes. #royalletter #royalreply #Royal #Christmas #dukeofsussex #duchessofsussex”

And here it is from the back:

The two have a habit of sending out sweet thank-you notes to fans and royal-watchers: They posted them (that’s some Brit-speak for you) after the royal wedding, and Meghan reportedly sent thank-yous to everyone who wished her a happy birthday, which is truly overachieving.

And while, fine, it was probably definitely their staff who sent them out, given the royals’ busy schedules, we’re still impressed at the turnaround time. Here’s hoping I find my own buried box of thank-you notes once I Kondo my closet…any day now.

Meghan Markle Reportedly Sent Thank-You Notes to All Who Wished Her a Happy Birthday

Meghan Markle may still be brushing up on the finer points of royal protocol, but it seems she’s got thank-you note etiquette down pat. On Tuesday, royal commentator Omid Scobie shared a photo on Twitter of the cards that the Duchess of Sussex reportedly sent to all who wished her a happy birthday last month.

Though Scobie didn’t share an inside look at the card, the outside features a color photograph of Meghan flashing a huge grin while greeting an excited group of well-wishers during a royal engagement with Prince Harry, who can be seen standing next to her in the photo. The cards were reportedly signed, sealed, and sent just over a month after Meghan’s 37th birthday, on August 4, placing her on the prompt end of the recommended one- to three-month time frame for sending thank-you notes after a birthday or wedding.

Take a look:

But Meghan’s big day wasn’t actually all about her. On August 4, she and Harry attended the wedding of his longtime friend Charlie van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks. The ceremony took place in a chapel in the village of Churt in Surrey, just southwest of London. For the sunny summer wedding, Meghan wore a navy Club Monaco dress and a matching fascinator, while her husband coordinated by pairing a royal blue vest and light blue tie with his traditional morning coat and gray striped trousers.

Though Meghan was undoubtedly showered with gifts once she and Harry returned to the palace, she reportedly wasn’t allowed to keep many of them. Per royal guidelines, members of the royal family aren’t allowed to accept from the public any gifts that come with strings attached or monetary offerings that aren’t directed toward a charity. They can, however, keep benign items like flowers, food, and books, or anything else that costs less than £150 ($195). So, if you sent your fave royal a B-day gift that abides by those guidelines, there’s a good chance you’ll be getting a thank-you note in return.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Sent the Nicest Thank-You Notes After the Royal Wedding

Just when we thought the royal wedding couldn’t have been any more perfect, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have added one last flourish to the magical event: They sent super-sweet thank-you cards to everyone who wrote them notes of congratulations. As in, everyone.

The Instagram account Royal Letters revealed in a post that the newlyweds mailed out a black-and-white photo with an incredibly thoughtful message to anyone who had written them to say congrats. The cards were mailed directly from Kensington Palace, which is maybe the most exciting address you can get mail from.

Here’s what their note said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been overwhelmed by all the incredibly kind cards and letters they have received on the occasion of their Wedding, and are so touched that you took the trouble to write as you did. It really was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their very best wishes.”

The photo they included is one of our favorites from the wedding: It was taken by Alexi Lubomirski, who captured their official wedding portraits and snapped the couple looking absolutely dreamy and in love on the steps of Windsor Castle. The official Kensington Palace Instagram account also used it in a post just after the wedding, with a caption that read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would like to thank everyone who took part in the celebrations of their wedding on Saturday. They feel so lucky to have been able to share their day with all those gathered in Windsor and also all those who watched the wedding on television across the UK, Commonwealth, and around the world #RoyalWedding.”

We’re guessing it was one of Meghan and Harry’s faves, too, and we’re jealous of everyone who now has a copy of their very own for their mantlepiece. We also can’t say we’re totally surprised by the classy thank-you card gesture: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex keep showing how thoughtful and considerate they are over and over again.
